Abstract:The cortex root of Paeonia ostii, is used as a traditional Chinese medicine for treating female diseases. Phytochemical investigation of the water-soluble fraction of the plant led to the isolation of two new acetoisovanillone glycosides: acetoisovanillone-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (1) and 2-hydroxy-acetoisovanillone-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2). Their structures were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents in roots of Paeonia lactiflora.Methods The compounds were isolated by extraction,silica gel coloum chromatography,RP chromatography and HPLC.The structures were elucidated by various modern spectroscopic methods.Results Five compounds were isolated and identified as paeoniflorin sulfonate(Ⅰ),paeoniflorin(Ⅱ),albiflorin(Ⅲ),benzoylpaeoniflorin(Ⅳ),and 1,2,3,4,6-pentagalloyglucose(Ⅴ).Conclusion Paeoniflorin sulfonate(Ⅰ)is a new compound.

Abstract:A new monoterpene glycoside, vervenone-10-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1''→6′)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), along with ten known ones, vervenone-10-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), paeoniflorin (3), benzoylpaeoniflorin (4), alibiflorin (5), benzoylalbiflorin (6), 4-O-galloylalbiflorin (7), 6′-O-galloylalbiflorin (8), galloylpaeoniflorin (9), oxypaeoniflorin (10) and lactiflorin (11) were isolated from the roots of Paeonia lactiflora Pall. The chemical structure of compound 1 was determined by extensive analysis of its NMR (1D and 2D) and HR-ESI-MS spectroscopic data. The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolated compounds was discussed.

Abstract:Two new neolignans and one new lignan (1–3) were obtained from the roots of Paeonia lactiflora. Their structures were unambiguously elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic analysis, single-crystal X-ray crystallography, and the calculated and experimental electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectra. Compound 1 was a racemic mixture and successfully resolved into the anticipated enantiomers via chiral-phase HPLC. Compound 3 demonstrated moderate inhibitory activity against human carboxylesterase 2A1 (hCES2A1) with an IC50 value of 7.28 ± 0.94 μmol·−1.

Abstract:A new sesquiterpene lactone glycoside (1) and a new quinic acid methyl ester (2) were isolated from Patrinia villosa, together with another two known compounds chlorogenic acid n-butyl ester (3), 3, 4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid methyl ester (4). Their structures were established using 1D/2D-NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and comparing with spectroscopic data reported in the literature.

Abstract:Antibacterial activity-guided fractionation of the CHCI3-MeOH (1:1) extract of Paeonia suffruticosa root bark furnished three monoterpene glycosides, 6-O-vanillyoxypaeoniflorin (1), mudanpioside-H (2), and galloyl-oxypaeoniflorin (3). Of the isolated compounds, compound 1 is a new compound. All isolated compounds showed broad, but moderate, antibacterial activity with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values in the range of 100 to 500 microg/mL against eighteen pathogenic microorganisms of concern for public health or zoonosis.

Abstract:Viburnum cylindricum has been used in folk medicine in Yunnan.Two new phenolic glycosides,1-phloroglucinyl-(6-methybutyryl)-β-D-glucopyranoside named cylindrin A (1),and 1-[4-3-hydroxyl-propyl)]-pyrocatechol-(6-methybutyryl)-β-D-glucopyranoside named cylindrin B (2),along with seven known phenolic glycosides tachioside(3),syingic acid-4-β-D-glucopyran oside(4),1-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy-3-methoxy-5-hydroxybenzene(5),4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenol-1-O-β-D-glucoside(6),4-hydroxy-2,6-dimethoxyphenol-1-O-β-D-glucoside(7),phlorogluc inol-1-O-β-D-glucoside(8),1-β-D-glucosyloxy-2-(3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl) propane-1,3-diol(9) have been isolated from the EtOAc extracts of its aerial parts.Their structures were elucidated by means of spectroscopic method.Compounds 3-9 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents of Paeonia delavayi. Methods Isolation and purification were carried out on repeated silica gel column chromatography. The structures of the compounds were determined by physicochemical properties and spectral analysis. Results Eleven compounds were isolated and identified as paeonisuffral (Ⅰ), paeoniflorigenone (Ⅱ), palbinone (Ⅲ), hederagenin (Ⅳ), quercitrin-3, 7-dimethoxy (Ⅴ), astragalin (Ⅵ), glyceryl monopalmitate (Ⅶ), 1-linoloyl-3-palmitoylglycerol (Ⅷ), methyl gallate (Ⅸ), methyl vanillate (Ⅹ), and methyl syringate (Ⅺ). ConclusionCompounds Ⅰ, Ⅲ and Ⅴ-Ⅺ are isolated from this plant for the first time.
