Abstract:Reading is essential for any country, and the promotion of children’s reading is an important part of “carrying out the nationwide reading activity”. By sharing some typical cases of children’s reading promotion activities in China, the author provides some references and inspirations for the library and other cultural departments to carry out children’s reading promotion activities, promote the theory and practice of children’s reading promotion research, and improve children’s reading level and reading enthusiasm. The society, family and other parties could jointly create a scholarly family and scholarly society, which is better for the national reading activities to create a good reading atmosphere.

Reading Promotion Based on Social Reading Theory

Abstract:To promote readers' reading properly, with the new media and the social reading platform users as the research object, the usage and the basic characteristics of the users were explored. Then, the use motivation, use attitude and use behavior of the social reading platform users were analyzed, and the relationship between the three was quantified. Based on the motivation demand theory, the use and gratification theory and the technology acceptance model, the literature analysis, in-depth interview, questionnaire survey and statistical analysis were adopted. The experiment results proved that the results obtained by the statistical analysis method were more objective. It is concluded that this study is intended to provide some reference for the development of the domestic social reading platform and to enrich the audience research in the communication of new media.

Abstract:Public libraries across the world are well-known for the promotion of literacy and lifelong learning. However, at the same time, they are important social and community spaces in which community members can engage with each other. With this in mind, this study looks at the ways in which public libraries in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong fulfil these roles in their respective communities. The public libraries chosen for this study were namely: Shanghai Library, Taipei Public Library and Hong Kong Central Library. A total number of 788 responses were collected from all three libraries. Results from the surveys indicated that public libraries in these communities were seen as being important for providing cost-free materials, entertainment, and, especially, contributing to the overall culture of the community at large. Results indicated that the public libraries chosen for this study have social and cultural values alongside its function as an information centre. These findings will be important in understanding the sociocultural roles of public libraries in East Asia.

Abstract:Abstract Reading promotion is an important means to create a strong reading atmosphere and cultivate good reading habits. With the continuous popularity of new media, the form of reading promotion also needs to keep pace with the times and adjust strategies according to the reader’s behavior. Abstract:Reading promotion is a key service of the public library. This article investigates the current state of reading promotion in public libraries in China. There were 86 public libraries chosen as a sample. The research finds that Chinese libraries have been paying more and more attention to the importance of reading promotion. A variety of reading promotion services and programs are being carried out, including reading festivals, booklists, reading contests, reading communication and lectures on reading. Public libraries tend to apply more towards the digital platform when promoting reading. Public libraries have cooperated with NGO and business fields to promote reading. This study suggests more can be done to improve the service, including improving the librarian's knowledge of genre books, enhancing reading communication, deeply investigating measurement of reading promotion, and the influence of contracting out reading programs.

Abstract:The purpose of the research is to develop a model for popularizing reading within the information activities of school libraries. The research methodology relies on modeling methods, content analysis, statistical approaches, grouping, and summarization. Research results highlight the role of online resources in promoting reading within school libraries. They present an informational and formal model for reading promotion, the utilization of digital tools, and an analysis of information resources within school libraries. A practical example underscores the significance of selecting an effective communication channel for engaging with students and increasing interest in reading. Survey results indicated a low level of reading among students, emphasizing the importance of adapting strategies to better engage the younger audience. Conclusions. Information technologies and online resources are pivotal for promoting reading and engaging users in school libraries. Analyzing practices, modeling promotional processes, and involving the target audience form the core of an effective reading development strategy in schools. Social media holds substantial potential for promoting reading among students, but a tailored approach to understanding their informational needs and selecting optimal communication platforms is advisable. Regularly analyzing library resources aids in identifying both strengths and weaknesses, refining reading promotion strategies. Considering students' preferences and needs in choosing communication channels is a crucial aspect of successful reading promotion. Abstract:With the new media and other elements deeply rooted in people's hearts, the innovation-related undertakings related to library management and service are developing vigorously, and the ambitious goals and ideals of "reading for all" and "building a cultural society" are also achieved at an early date.
