Abstract:This paper discusses stabilizing control for discrete systems with a time delay in the state variables. The control algorithms are based on the Lyapunov stability theory. For an industrial electric heater, a time-delay discrete model is identified using a recursive least squares technique, and real-time control via the proposed control algorithm to the heater is performed. The performance of the industrial application shows that the temperature variation in the heater is within ± 1.5°C (0.5%), and the system has good load change rejection and shorter recovery time.

Abstract:Internal Thermally Coupled Air Separation Column(ITCASC) has great potential for energy saving in air separation,which is a breakthrough in the energy saving technique of internal thermally coupled distillation.However,the control of the system is very difficult due to the nonlinearity,complex dynamics and interactive nature of the process.A novel reduced-order model for ITCASC is therefore proposed,and an internal model controller is further designed based on the above proposed reduced-order model.The research results demonstrate that the IMC controller can deal with the nonlinearity and the interactive nature,which is more effective for ITCASC than PID controllers.

Abstract:The problem of internal model control(IMC) design is discussed for time delay objects with model uncertainty.The controller is designed by using sensitivity function and filter.A method is proposed to tune IMC to guarantee the robust stability and robust performance by frequency domain analysis of linear systems.The conditions of robust stability and robust performance of the closeloop system are obtained.The simulation results show that the new method can improve the system stability compared with traditional methods,such as Cohen-Coon and CHR control methods.The internal model controller design method for a typical delayed uncertainty objects can be tuned easily.

Abstract:AbstractIn this work, optimal closed-loop test design for control is studied. Simple design formulas are derived based on the asymptotic theory of Ljung. The control scheme used is internal model control (IMC) and the design constraint is the power of the process output or that of the reference signal. The test signal is applied at the setpoint. The results give clear guidelines for closed-loop identification applications.

Abstract:The insertion of the communication network in the feedback control loop makes some problems about the QoS. One important issue is the network-induced delay that occurs while exchanging data among devices connected to the shared medium. The purpose of this paper is to design an improved internal model controller to control a plant with time delays. Compared with ordinary internal model controllers, there is an additional feedback loop in the new architecture. The simulation results demonstrate that the control system has satisfied robustness performance.

Abstract:For inevitable network delay in the wireless networked control systems, some researches have been done about wireless networked control systems based on internal model control. But internal model control only can apply to stable plants. A modified internal model control strategy is proposed. It adds a stabilizer in the plant to adjust the unstable plant, and then follow the generalized stable plant to design the internal model controller. The simulation results show the modified internal model control method is effective in the use of unstable time delay plants, ensured the stability of the unstable system. Especially, the output has good dynamic performance and strong robustness when the model is mismatched.

Abstract:Network-induced delays in the networked control systems are inevitable and have a significant effect on system performance. In this paper, time-varying delays are regarded as the sum of the mean delays and uncertain delays. Furthermore, NCS with long time delays is modeled as a discrete-time model with structural uncertainty for its time-varying network-induced delays. Based on the model, a new control law via an iterative LMI approach is presented which can stabilize the closed-loop system. Theoretical analysis and simulation results compared to some existing schemes show that the control strategy presented in this paper is effective and feasible.

Abstract:A modified internal model control method based on static decoupling for non- square processes with right half plant zeros and multiple time delays is proposed. The coupled problems of non-square processes are solved by used pseudo-inverse of steady-state gain matrix. Internal model controller is also applied to Smith delay compensator directly by using equivalence between internal model control structure and Smith delay compensator structure. Thus, eliminating the step of convert internal model controller into PI controller, while reducing the number of controller parameters. The controller design of the proposed method is more direct and simple, at the same time it has a wider range of applications. At last, the simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method.

Abstract:Aimed at the unknown and uncertain time delay in the steer-by-wire system, an adaptive control strategy is designed based on the internal model control framework to improve the tracking accuracy of the steering angle. Without inducing non-minimum terms, a novel nominal model is established by connecting the model of the steer-by-wire system and the linearized delay model using the all pole approximation method. The Kalman filter algorithm is designed to identify the nominal model parameters and to update in real time. Thereafter, the parameters in the inverse controller of internal model controller are tuned online. The simulation and bench test results show that compared with the traditional internal model control whose inverse control discards time delay and the classical proportion integration differentiation (PID) control, the proposed adaptive internal model control considering time delay can obtain a better tracking accuracy and has a stronger adaptability to the change of time delay.

Abstract:Approximating the time delay unit by 1/1 pade series,one can get internal model controller using the two-step design approach.Through equivalence formula,unity feedback controller can be realized by PID controller with band filter and the internal adjustment is actually PID controller paraeter setting.The fuzzy controller is designed through introducing auto-tunning and fuzzy set,combining fuzzy control rule for time delay system and general rule for two-dimension fuzzy control.This controller synthesizes the advantages of fuzzy control,internal model control(IMC) and PID.The simulation results show that the designed system has strong robustness,good precision and anti-disturbance ability.

Abstract:In this article, an enhanced 2-degree-of-freedom internal model control strategy for typical industrial processes with time-delay is developed. For the proposed controller, it is composed of an inner loop feedback controller which is designed based on the internal model control theory and a weighted set-point tracking controller. Note that the adjustment of set-point tracking performance and disturbance rejection characteristics can be decoupled by employing the developed strategy, which indicates that more degrees of freedom are obtained for the proposed controller design; thus, better ensemble performance and stronger robustness are anticipated by regulating these two controllers separately, which may not be achieved in the conventional internal model control method. Case studies on two kinds of stable processes with time-delay verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme finally.

Abstract:In order to improve the anti-interference ability of the servo system, the Internal Model Control(IMC) is applied to the turntable servo system. The strategy takes the velocity loop simplified by using the current loop as the control object, and uses the IMC to give the desired trajectory of the system out put. By introducing the IMC scheme into the servo system, the strategy can reduce the effects of model errors and external disturbances on the system, and enhanced the system’s anti-disturbances ability. The design procedures of the proposes controller and the structure of the closed-loop control system are given. The high performance of the proposed strategy is validated by comparative simulations. The simulation results showed that the proposed strategy has strong robustness to system parameter perturbation, and has higher stability accuracy and robustness than Proportion Integration Differentiation(PID) control.

Abstract:For the integrated plus time delay in industrial system,a design and parameters tuning approach of internal model control-proportional integral derivative（IMC-PID） controller was proposed.Replacing the integrator in the model by a first-order lag,the steady-state performance of the system was improved.On this basis,the time-delay term in the model was approached with the first-order Taylor expansion.So,the design method of IMC-PID controller was founded.In addition,the analytical expression for robust tuning the adjustable parameter of the IMC-PID controller was derived by the maximum sensitivity specification Ms,and the blindness of conventional method for controller parameter tuning was overcome.The simulation results show that the proposed method can provide a better dynamic performance and robustness against parameters perturbation.

Abstract:This paper proposes a new internal model control scheme. The proposed scheme does not require an explicit transfer function model of the process. The design procedure is simple and the parameters of the controller are given in analytic formula. The resulting controller is of fixed-order form, which makes implementation easy. Simulation shows that the proposed scheme gives consistent and satisfactory performance for a large class of processes.

Abstract:This paper presents delay-dependent conditions for the solvability of the output regulation problem of time delay systems. Based on internal model approach, two classes of controller structures are studied, namely, state feedback and dynamic output feedback schemes. First, delay-dependent sufficient conditions for the stabilization of time delay systems are presented by a linearization technique under the state feedback control. A new proof of testified necessary and sufficient conditions for checking the solvability of output regulation problems is provided. Second, a dynamic compensator is designed by the output information and constructed by a delay-dependent condition. A numerical example is finally provided to validate the proposed method.

Abstract:The decoupling problem with stability for linear multivariable processes with multiple time delays is considered and the internal model control scheme is adopted. All the controllers which solve the problem and the resultant closed-loop systems are characterized in terms of their unavoidable time delays and non-minimum phase zeros. According to such characteristics, a control design for best achievable performance is presented and further simplified with the help of model reduction to obtain an easy-to-implement yet good approximation to the theoretical solution of generally high complexity. Numerical and practical examples are given to illustrate our analysis and design.

Abstract:A modified internal model control(IMC)method for non-square processes with multiple time delays and right-half-plant zeros is proposed.By inserting compensated terms,the unrealizable factors of the derived controller are removed.A first-order filter is added to the IMC structure to improve the robustness of the control system.Meanwhile,the sufficient and necessary conditions for holding robust stability of the system are analyzed in the presence of parameters uncertainty.The low bounds of the control parameters are derived quantitatively to guarantee the robust stability of the system.Finally,simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed control schemes.

Abstract:This paper discusses the recently developed time-varying internal model-based tracking control design. In particular, it is shown that the parallel connection between the stabilizer and the internal model would facilitate the design of a robust stabilizer: Also it is shown that in the presence of plant model uncertainty the time-varying internal model based on the nominal values of the plant model can generate an input which can be made close enough to the desired control input rendering the regulated error identically zero. The simulation results validate the proposed robust stabilizer design.

Abstract:This paper proposed an active fault tolerant control(FTC) design method for multiple state delay systems based on generalized internal model control(GIMC).This controller includes two parts: one part for performance and the other for robustness.The part for robustification(fault accommodation) will be active when there are faults.This ensures that the system without fault has good performance index.When there are faults,the post-fault system has the ability to tolerate them.Simulation results are given to illustrate the efficiency of the method provided.
