Abstract:The evaluation index system of urban aquatic ecosystem health is of great significance for the assessment and management of urban river networks, and for urban development planning. In this paper, the concept of urban aquatic ecosystem health was analyzed by the relationship between human, city and aquatic ecosystem, and its evaluation index system was established from environmental conditions, ecological construction, and social service. In addition, the weight value of each index was calculated by the analytic hierarchy process, and the grading standard of each index was set. Jiading New City, a typical city of the river network plain area in Yangtze River delta, was selected as the aquatic ecosystem health evaluation sample. The fuzzy comprehensive method was used to evaluate the aquatic ecosystem health of Jiading New City. The results indicated that the water ecosystem health of Jiading New City reached the “good” level. For the criterion level, environmental conditions and ecological construction reached the “good” level, and social services reached the “excellent” level. For the indicator level, most indicators reached “good” and “excellent” levels, but the river complexity and benthic macroinvertebrate diversity are still in the “poor” state, which indicates that the aquatic environment has greatly improved, but the aquatic ecosystem has not been fully restored. Results suggested that river complexity and biodiversity should be increased in urban construction planning. The evaluation index system established in this paper can be used to reflect the urban aquatic ecosystem health conditions in river network plain areas.

Abstract:Land intensive use is a necessary and important approach to deal with the problem of supply shortage of urban land facing most cities currently in China.A three-layer evaluation index system is established in this paper to measure urban land use intensity,the factor of land sustainable use are specifically considered in the index system in order to avoid the negative affection of environment deterioration if land development intensity are excessively emphasized.The method is applied in Pearl River Delta region,the evaluation results show that urban land use intensity decreases from the central to the peripheral area in the region,which are considered to be mainly caused by factors such as geographical location,industrial structure,economic development level,industrial structure adjustment,old city renovation and land remising system reform.

Abstract:At present,the research on environmental evaluation for land in China is seldom reported.Based on the foreign experience about environmental evaluation of land,the authors took the city of Hangzhou as an example,and then applied the land environmental evaluation in land planning,and finally gave some suggestions on land use in China.In this paper,the authors chose biodiversity,content of underground water,content of soil organic matter,topography,atmosphere environment quality as evaluation factors.According to the weighting coefficients of evaluation factors in environmental evaluation,the environment sensitive area of Hangzhou was divided into three parts based on GIS technique.Finally,the selection of indices in land environmental evaluation,policy-making,ex ante appraisal and ecological recovery,etc.,for Hangzhou city were suggested.
Multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation on environmental impact from water control project

Abstract:In order to more accurately evaluate the impact from water control project on environment,the evaluation index system and the multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method for the environmental impact from water control project are studied herein in accordance with the relationship between water control project and its environment.By taking Tizikou Reservoir of Jialingjiang River as the study case,both the evaluation index system and the multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method are applied to the reservoir.For which,reasonable index set for the evaluation of environmental impact is selected,and then the fuzzy relation matrix of the quantifiable environmental factors those include the flood control benefit is comprehensively obtained,moreover,the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation and the calculation of the matrix are carried out level by level from the lower to the high for comprehensively evaluating the impact from Tingzikou Reservoir on its surrounding environment.The result shows that the comprehensive benefit from Tizikou Reservoir of Jialingjiang River is significant,while the result of the comprehensive evaluation on the environmental impact is ideal as well.The multi-level fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method proposed in this study has a certain referential significance for the planning and design,environmental response and protection of water control project.

Abstract:Ecologically clean small watersheds are crucial for water and soil conservation in China and provide a basis for the comprehensive development and sustainable utilization of water resources. In this study, a model and evaluation system for ecologically clean small watersheds based on the AHP-fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method were proposed to evaluate the construction of such watersheds in the Yangtze river estuary area of China, using Changning district in Shanghai as a case study. The evaluation system includes four attribute layer indicators: water quality, soil and soil erosion, pollution, and water system, as well as 13 index layer indicators. The watersheds are evaluated as “excellent,” “good,” “medium,” or “poor.” The evaluation is carried out by assigning weights to the indicators, establishing the membership degree matrix, determining the fuzzy synthesis operator, and calculating the score of the comprehensive evaluation. The evaluation results were analyzed and discussed. The results show that the comprehensive evaluation score of ecologically clean small watershed construction in Changning district was found to be 83.28. Pollution control received an “excellent”-level score of 86.21, while water system management received a “poor”-level score of 57.49. Overall, the construction of ecologically clean small watersheds was evaluated as “good,” although some aspects still need improvement. The results of this study provide a basis for evaluating the construction of ecologically clean small watersheds in the Yangtze river estuary area.

Abstract:Introduction: The construction of the Yangtze River Delta ecological green development demonstration area aims to take the lead in exploring an eco-friendly development model, demonstrating and leading the higher quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta in China. Methods: Through literature research, expert inquiries, and policy documents as the guidance, this study builds an ecological green high-quality development evaluation system for the demonstration area, including building an index system composed of 4 first-class indicators, 16 second-class indicators and 42 third-class indicators derived from economy, society and environment system, determining the index weight through the network analytic hierarchy process, and establishing the comprehensive evaluation index (CEI) and differential diagnosis index (DDI) of high-quality development, which is based on the relevant theory of statistical comprehensive index. Results: The establishment of this system provides a complete theoretical support and scientific guidance for the comprehensive evaluation of high-quality ecological green development and more balanced development of the demonstration area; and it can point out the development direction for the subsequent development of the Yangtze River Delta. Discussion: However, due to the availability of data, there is still room for further improvement in this paper. In the future research, the model can be used to evaluate the high-quality development level of the demonstration area through the relevant data of the demonstration area.

Abstract:The water resource is the foundation that mankind depends on for his existence and development.Water resource shortage,however,has already become a serious problem faced by the whole world because of human's unreasonable utilization.In order to realize the sustainable development of the society and economy of China,we must reinforce the comprehensive evaluation about regional water utilization level.The method of set pair analysis is to study the certain and uncertain relationship among different things and the core of this method is to compute the connection degree of these things.At present,set pair analysis can be applied for such comprehensive evaluations as atmospheric environmental quality evaluation,water safety evaluation and ecological carrying capacity and has certain application prospects in evaluations of resources and environment subjects.According to the actual conditions of regional water utilization,this paper puts forward a new method to build the evaluation standards for estimating the regional water utilization level,which is to build the standards based on the regional actual index values.With the application of the set pair analysis method,this paper,taking the region along the lower Yellow River as the research objective,studies quantificationally the water utilization level in the region.Study areas refer to the regions from Taohuayu to the estuaries of the Yellow River which are irrigated by the Yellow River main stream,covering an area of 4.43×104 km2.The areas involve the Yellow River basin,Haihe River basin and Huaihe River basin,and govern 83 counties(districts),15 prefectures(cities),such as Jiaozuo and Heze.The areas,with fast development and centralized politics and economy in Henan and Shandong provinces,hold an important place in domestic economic construction.The result indicates the five regions are sorted as Aishan-Luokou region(regionⅣ),Luokou-Lijin region(regionⅤ),Huayuankou-Gaocun(regionⅠ),Sunkou-Aishan region(region Ⅲ)and Gaocun-Sunkou region(region Ⅱ) in descending order according to the identity degree.The comparison result shows the overall results of the set pair analysis method are consistent with that of multi-level grey relation comprehensive evaluation model,and the set pair analysis method has its advantages-simple,practical and impersonal.The evaluation standards built in this paper,which combined with the set pair analysis method,can solve the evaluation problem of regional water utilization level effectively.
Evaluation Of Groundwater Resource In Deep Aquifers Of The Yangtze Delta (South Of The Yangtze River)

Abstract:The Yangtze Delta is an important center area for Chinese economic development, so the evaluation of the groundwater resource of this area is of great significance. In previous studies, this area was' divided into some subareas. according to the boundaries of the administrative districts, to evaluate their groundwater resource respectively, but the separation resulted in some artificial error. For the first time, the, Yangtze Delta was considered as a whole in this paper, so such error can be avoided. The three-dimension model which describes the characteristics of the storage and the movement of the groundwater was built according to the. multilayer aquifer system with large area and complex condition, the parameters of the model are identified on the base of the fine division by GMS which is the international common-used standard software for the numerical simulation of groundwater. Furthermore, some different exploitation alternatives of the area are evaluated. The results provide evidence to the building of management model of water resources in the future, and give some reasonable advices of exploitation to the project of economic development and sustainable development.
Evaluation of Regional Water Utilization Level Based on Set Pair Analysis

Abstract:Water resources are the foundation that mankind depends on for his existence and development. In order to realize the sustainable development of the society and economy, we must give more consideration to the comprehensive evaluation about regional water utilization level. The method of Set Pair Analysis (SPA) is used to study the relationship between certainty and uncertainty among the objective things and its core is to compute the connection degree among the things. The paper puts forward a new method based on SPA to build the evaluation standards according to the actual conditions of regional water utilization. Employing this new method, the paper studies the water utilization level of the area along the lower Yellow River quantitatively, and compares the evaluated results with the results from multi-hierarchy grey relation comprehensive evaluation model (MGRCEM). The comparison shows that the overall results from the SPA method are consistent with those from MGRCEM. Moreover, the SPA method has many advantages such as convenient and simple computation, objective and reasonable evaluation results and so on. The applied method can serve as a new approach for water utilization studies, and the evaluation standards built in the paper can solve some evaluation problems of regional water utilization level effectively.

Abstract:Water ecosystem is an important factor determining regional social and economic development. It is an irreplaceable natural resource for human survival, productivity and development. This study takes the TOPSIS method to identify high weight indicators and measure the closeness of the evaluation objects, and tries to use it as a reference to further classify the water resources carrying capacity of the research objects into superior and inferior levels by the Adversarial Interpretative Structural Model (AISM), with 11 provinces in the Yangtze River Economic Belt as the study area. The findings reveal that the regional water resources carrying capacity is influenced by GDP per capita, the proportion of tertiary industry, ecological water consumption rate, and urbanization rate. Zhejiang and Shanghai have a high water carrying capacity, while Guizhou, Jiangxi and Hubei provinces rank low. The TOPSIS-AISM model outperforms the traditional TOPSIS model and can be applied to similar comprehensive evaluations.

Abstract:The Analytic Hierarchy Process and Entropy Weight Method were used to measure the green development level of nine major urban areas in the Yangtze River Delta and the Nanjing-Hangzhou Eco-economic Zone. The results demonstrated that firstly, the green development level of the Shanghai-Nanjing-Hangzhou metropolitan area shows increasingly sequential characteristics, with each city generally experiencing a “ladder” over time and displaying a hierarchy in its spatial distribution. Second, according to the green development subsystem evaluation, the Nanjing-Hangzhou Eco-economic zone is better than Shanghai-Nanjing and Shanghai-Hangzhou in terms of environmental loading and green governance, but it is weaker than both regarding economic performance, social welfare, and driving innovation. Therefore, this paper focuses on the general idea of green development and proposes optimization strategies and implementation recommendations for strengthening the green development of the Nanjing-Hangzhou Eco-economic Zone with respect to the currently weak areas of innovation, economic performance, and social welfare.

Abstract:System theory and intelligent system methods are increasingly introduced into the study of social economy system. This study applied the fuzzy theory to the arterial road project evaluation in Yangtze River Delta. It is an important stage in transportation planning. Highroad quality is a composite of various attributes, among them many separated attributes always lack of pertinency and comparability. This characteristic introduces the obstacles for respondent in project assessment. In order to overcome the issue, we invited trapezoidal fuzzy theory in obtaining criteria weights and AHP in ranking. Several programming schemes were evaluated on the hasis of this method and it is testified to be simple, scientific and applicable.
An Evaluation Model of Riparian Landscape: A Case in Rural Qingxi Area, Shanghai

Abstract:The suburbs around Shanghai have a complex river network and a unique Chinese water-town culture. The riparian landscape in the rural Qingxi area has important regional, ecological, and social significance; it serves as an important part of the local bioclimate, but the existing studies on river vegetation did not pay enough attention to the riparian landscape in the countryside around the metropolis. The goal of this study was to examine a comprehensive evaluation model for the river plant landscape in the countryside surrounding a high-density metropolis such as Shanghai in the face of the national policy of rural revitalization and the low-carbon development problem, and to propose optimization strategies accordingly. Therefore, in this study, we selected 91 rivers in the Qingxi area and investigated their plant communities. According to the characteristics of the riparian landscape and its relationship with the river environment and local bioclimate, we classified the 91 riparian landscapes into four types of quadrats: natural landscape, residential recreation, roadside linear landscape, and agricultural landscape. In addition, based on the 13 indicator layers under the categories of ecological carrying capacity, landscape beauty, and social service, we calculated the comprehensive evaluation value (CEV) and comprehensive evaluation index (CEI) of 91 river quadrants using specific formulas to scientifically evaluate the riparian landscape in the rural Qingxi area of Shanghai. Finally, based on the existing problems summarized through data analysis, the researchers proposed five optimization directions: (1) increasing vegetation diversity, (2) choosing native and culturally representative species, (3) improving waterfront planting design, (4) achieving ecological riverbank construction, and (5) building greenway systems and recreational spaces. This study proposed an innovative evaluation model for the riparian vegetation landscape and tested its feasibility by site survey, which provided new visions for future rural landscape research.

Abstract:Cities located in the plain river network area possess abundant water resources. However, due to urbanization and industrialization, there is a severe water shortage problem caused by poor water quality. To overcome this issue, a multi-objective optimal allocation model of water quantity and quality is proposed. The model considers regional water resources, economic, social, and environmental requirements and uses the NSGA-II genetic algorithm for model solution. Furthermore, to evaluate and analyze the degree of spatial equilibrium of regional water resources and how it relates to economic factors, the study uses the spatial equilibrium theory of water resources and the Gini coefficient of water resources. Jingjiang, a city in Jiangsu Province characterized by a typical plain river network area, was selected as the study area. The results of the optimal allocation of water resources in Jingjiang City show that: (1) total water consumption and chemical oxygen demand (COD) emissions for the current planning period are within their respective limits. In addition, the implementation of the water conservation program has resulted in a 5% reduction in total water shortages and a reduction of COD emissions by 1276 tons, (2) the structure of the water supply in Jingjiang City has been optimized; more than 90% of IV~V surface water is used for agriculture, and the domestic water supply is mainly from transit water, which effectively ensures that high-quality water is used in the domestic water supply, (3) the spatial equilibrium coefficient of water resources per sub-area is between 0.33 and 0.74, indicating an unbalanced or almost unbalanced level. The application of a water conservation program has resulted in the improvement of the spatial equilibrium level of water resources in each sub-area, with an overall spatial equilibrium of 0.64, indicating a more balanced level; the degree of matching of water resources with population, GDP, and land area is at the matching level, (4) according to the Gini coefficient of the distribution of water resources, the plains river network area displays a better match between water resources and economic and social factors of each water receiving area, thanks to its unique geographical location and natural conditions. This study can serve as a decision-making reference for addressing the urban water quality water shortage problem in the plain river network area.

Abstract:Abstract In recent years, obvious changes have taken place in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and some river regulation projects have gradually lost their original functions. Under the background of “great protection of the Yangtze River”, the rapid economic and social development along the Yangtze River and the continuous enhancement of ecological civilization construction put forward higher requirements for the Yangtze River governance research under the new situation. This paper systematically discusses the characteristics of various evaluation system research methods, introduces the main theories and advantages and disadvantages of AHP in detail, and selects flood control, shipping, beach, water resources utilization and water ecology as the evaluation indexes of APH, and summarizes the previous research results of each evaluation index under the condition of river regime change, so as to provide reference for the formulation and implementation of the control strategy of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Optimization provides theoretical support.

Abstract:In order to solve the basic problem of decision-making and management for multi-attribute and multi-objective comprehensive evaluation on the interconnected river system network engineering schemes,a comprehensive evaluation and sensitivity analysis method of optimization and sorting for the engineering schemes based on score functions of vague sets and cloud model is proposed with the project of water diversion to northern Zhejiang province as an example,the method is used to discuss the effect of different score functions on sorting the engineering schemes and analyze their robustness for evaluating under the circumstances the changes of single index and multiple weights.

Abstract:Aiming at solving the result - evaluation problem existed in the finished water - rights transfer program for the Yellow River irrigation area, the author has constructed a multi - layer & semi - structured evaluation index system and established a multi - layer and multi objective fuzzy optimization model based on fuzzy optimization theory and entropy concept. Making the indexes' relative membership degree vector of the first layer (input layer) as the basic data to constitute the judgment matrix, then the entropy weight can be obtained by the utility degree reflected by the index - variation degree. As to the weight vector of intermediate layer, making the output (the relative entropy weight optimal membership degree vector) of the first layer (input layer) to constitute the judgment matrix, the author, giving the consideration to the decision - maker' s preference and the attribute of objective data, adopts different weight to calculate the integrated evaluation on the basis of the top - layer output.Applying the model to the water - rights transfer project of Yellow River irrigation area of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, and then the example - verification and result - analyzing of the results give the technical support for further applying water - rights transfer project reasonably.

Abstract:In this paper,environmental equality includes both, one is based on natural resource endowment and another is based on economic output.The environmental pressure indicator was constructed to express the former one while the environmental Gini-coefficient and green contribution coefficient were constructed to present the latter one.According to the data of the economic development level and pollution discharge of 2004,the environmental pressure indicators,the environmental Gini-coefficients and green contribution coefficients were calculated based on COD and SO_2 discharge of each cities in the Yangtze River Delta.According to the hierarchical cluster analysis,the conclusions are:1) According to the environmental equality based on natural resource endowment,Shanghai faces the highest environmental pressure,and,the cities of Jiangsu Province face higher pressures than those of Zhejiang.2) According to the environmental equality based on economic output,the environmental Gini-coefficient and green contribution coefficient of COD and SO_2 discharge within the Yangtze River Delta is 0.17 and 0.13 respectively.Compared to that of the whole country,the Yangtze River Delta realizes the higher level equilibrium and 3) Within the Yangtze River Delta,the eco-efficiencies of Zhengjiang and Taizhou are relatively lower and need more improvement.Finally,authors suggest that environmental pressures should be reasonably distributed on the regional level and the eco-efficiencies should be raised through sustainable comparisons, therefore the environmental protection integration of the Yangtze River Delta could be achieved.
