Abstract:In this work we prove that an entire function $f(z)$ has only negative zeros if and only if its order is strictly less $1$, its root sequence is real-part dominating and there exists an nonnegative integer $m$ the real function $\left(-\frac{1}{x}\right)^{m}\frac{d^{k}}{dx^{k}}\left(x^{k+m}\frac{d^{m}}{dx^{m}}\left(\frac{f'(x)}{f(x)}\right)\right)$ are completely monotonic on $(0,\infty)$ for all nonnegative integer $k$. As an application we state a necessary and sufficient condition for the Riemann hypothesis and generalized Riemann hypothesis for a primitive Dirichlet character.

Abstract:Let f (z) = Sigma(infinity )(j=0)a(j)z(j )be a transcendental entire function and let f omega(z) = Sigma(infinity)(j=0) chi(j)(omega)a(j)z(j) be a random entire function, where chi(j)(omega) are independent and identically distributed random variables defined on a probability space (Omega, F, mu). In this paper, we first define a family of random entire functions, which includes Gaussian, Rademacher and Steinhaus entire functions. We prove that, for almost all functions in the family and for any constant C >1, there exist a constant r(0) = r(0)(omega) and a set E subset of [e, infinity) of finite logarithmic measure such that, for r > r(0) and r (sic) E, | log M(r, f) - N(r, 0, f(omega))| <= (C/A)(1/B) log(1/B) log M(r, f) + log log M(r, f), a.s. where A, B are constants, M(r, f) is the maximum modulus and N(r, 0, f) is the integrated zero-counting function of f. As a by-product of our main results, we prove Nevanlinna's second main theorem for random entire functions. Thus, the characteristic function of almost all functions in the family is bounded above by an integrated counting function, rather than by two integrated counting functions as in the classical Nevanlinna theory. For instance, we show that, for almost all Gaussian entire functions f omega and for any epsilon > 0, there is r0 such that, for r > r0, T (r, f) <= N(r, 0, f omega) + (1/2 + epsilon) log T (r, f ).

Abstract:In this paper, we develop a new method to estimate the smallest upper bound on the number of isolated zeros of Abelian integrals, and give an algebraic criterion for the case of Abelian integrals along energy level ovals of potential systems. As applications of our main result, we first obtain a criterion guaranteeing that two Abelian integrals have the Chebyshev property with accuracy one and give an example of hyperelliptic Abelian integrals. Then we get a criterion that any nontrivial linear combination of three Abelian integrals has at most two isolated zeros. Using this criterion we prove that the smallest upper bound is two for the number of isolated zeros of a non-algebraic Abelian integral along the oval (y2+12)1x2+ln⁡|x|−12=h with 0, which corresponds to the perturbation of a quadratic reversible system with two centers. Moreover, we derive all possible configurations of limit cycles from the Poincaré bifurcation of this perturbation. To our knowledge, these problems can not be solved by other known approaches.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate uniqueness of entire functions of order less than 2 sharing the value 0 with their difference operators and obtain a result as follows:Let f be a transcendental entire function such that sigma(f) < 2 and lambda(f) < sigma(f). If f and Delta(n)f share the value 0 CM, then f must be form of f(z) = Ae(alpha z), where A and alpha are two nonzero constants. This result confirms a conjecture posed earlier on the topic.

Abstract:We characterize the zero-free regions of a class of functions (including the Riemann zeta function) in half-planes in terms of closures of ranges of the corresponding multiplication operators on Hardy spaces. We give an explicit characterization of these closures. As applications, we obtain a weaker version of the Nyman-Beurling-Baez-Duarte criterion, and provide some investigations on a problem relating to the Riemann hypothesis proposed by Baez-Duarte et al. Abstract:In this paper, we study the blow-up analysis for a sequence of solutions to the Liouville type equation with exponential Neumann boundary condition. For interior case, i.e. the blow-up point is an interior point, Li \cite{Li} gave a uniform asymptotic estimate. Later, Zhang \cite{Zhang} and Gluck \cite{Gluck} improved Li's estimate in the sense of $C^0$-convergence by using the method of moving planes or classification of solutions of the linearized version of Liouville equation. If the sequence blows up at a boundary point, Bao-Wang-Zhou \cite{Bao-Wang-Zhou} proved a similar asymptotic estimate of Li \cite{Li}. In this paper, we will prove a $C^0$-convergence result in this boundary blow-up process. Our method is different from \cite{Zhang,Gluck}.

Erdos and investigated by many researchers; they play important roles in both number theory and combinatorics. Abstract:Let $D$ be a domain in the complex plane, $M$ be an extended real function on $D$. If $f$ is a non-zero holomorphic function on $D$ with an upper constraint $|f|\leq \exp M$ on this domain $D$, then it is natural to expect that there must be some upper constraints on the distribution of zeros of this holomorphic function exclusively in terms of the function $M$ and the geometry of the domain $D$. We have investigated this question in detail in our previous works in the case when $M$ is a subharmonic function and the domain $D$ is arbitrary or with a non-polar boundary. The answer was given in terms of limiting the distribution of zeros of $f$ from above via the Riesz measure of the subharmonic function $M$. In this article, the function $M$ is the difference of subharmonic functions, or a $\delta$-subharmonic function, and the upper constraints are given in terms of the Riesz charge of this $\delta$-subharmonic function $M$. These results are also new to a certain extent for the subharmonic function $M$. The case when the domain D is the complex plane is considered separately. For the complex plane, it is possible to reach the criterion level.

Local Complex Singularity Exponents for Isolated Singularities

Abstract:In this thesis, I studied the stability of local complex singularity exponents (lcse) for holomorphic functions whose zero sets have only isolated singularities. For a given holomorphic function f defined on a neighborhood of the origin in Cn , the lcse c0(f) is defined as the supremum of all positive real number λ for which 1/| f|2λ is integrable on some neighborhood of the origin. It has been conjectured that c0( f) should not decrease if f is deformed small enough. Using J. Mather and S. S. T. Yau's result on the classification of isolated hypersurface singularities, together with a well known result on the stability of c0(f) when f is deformed in a finite dimension base space, I proved that if the zero set of f has only isolated singularity at the origin, then c0(g) ≥ c0( f) for g close enough to f with respect to the C0 norm over a neighborhood of the origin, thus gave a partial solution to the conjecture. Using the stability results, I also computed the holomorphic invariant α( M) for some special Fano manifold M.

In this note, we mainly prove that if[GRAPHICS]then the set of normality N(f) of f has no unbounded preperiodic and periodic components. In particular, f has no Baker domains. We also discuss non-existence of unbounded components of normality under other conditions.

Abstract:Let I be a closed interval and f:I --> I be continuous. We investigate the structure of the inverse limit space lim(I, f) which contains no indecomposable subcontinuum. In particular, we show that the set of nondegenerate maximal nowhere dense subcontinua of lim(I, f) is finite if f is piecewise monotone with zero topological entropy. Applying the above result, we show that if f: I --> I is piecewise monotone, then the following statements are equivalent:(1) lim(I, f) contains no indecomposable subcontinuum.(2) The topological entropy of f is zero.(3) lim(I, f) is Suslinean.(4) Each homeomorphism of lim(I, f) has zero topological entropy.We also show how the order of lim(I, f) is dependent on the set of periods of f when f is piecewise monotone with zero topological entropy.
