Effect of Yuqin Capsule on Cytokins in Treating Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Patients

Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Yuqin capsule,a traditional Chinese medicine,on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients,and the mechanism of the capsule by detecting the cytokins,such as IL-6,IL-10,leptin and resistin,a 3-month clinical study was taken. Methods Fourty-two NAFLD patients were enrolled and divided into two groups,traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) group (n=22) and control group (n=20). The patients of TCM group were treated with Yuqin capsule for three months,then the changes of BMI,waist circumference,ALT,AST,TC,TG,CT ratio of liver-spleen and the level IL-6,IL-10,leptin and resistin before and after treatment were observed in the two groups. Results Although there were no significant differences in TC,TG,BMI between the patients of the two groups after the treatment (P0.05),the value of waist circumference,ALT,AST and CT ratio of liver-spleen of the patients in TCM group were much better than those of the patients of the control group (P0.05). Moreover,the levels of IL-6,IL-10,leptin and resistin of the patients of TCM group were different from those of the control group (P0.05). Conclusions Yuqin capsule is considered effective in treating NAFLD patients,by the mechanism of adjusting the cytokins,whichmay play an important role in the genesis and development of NAFLD.
