Expression and significance of NF-κB in gastric carcinoma

Abstract:Objective To investgate the expression of NF-κB in gastric carcinoma tissues and relationship between NF-κB activity and clino-pathological features of gastric carcinoma. Methods NF-κB p65 were measured in tissues from 52 cases with gastric carcinoma and adjacent normal epithelial cells, 20 cases intestinal metaplasia and 20 cases normal gastric mucosa by immunohistochemical method. Results expression were significantly higher ingastric carcinoma,intestinal metaplasia ,adjacent normal epithelial cell than in normal gastrica mucosa(59.71%, 40%, 17.31% and 0 respectively ). Expression of NF-κB was significantly high in low grade than in high grade cancer (P<0.05). Conclusion NF-κB p65 expression is up_regulated at an early stage of gastric carcinoma. Detection of NF-κB may be prognosticate the pre-malignant lesion and metastases of gastric carcinoma.
