Abstract:The sampling problem on a closed subspace Vo of L2(ℝ) is studied. For the regular sampling, a necessary and sufficient condition on the sampling theorem is presented and the sampling problem proposed by Walter is completely solved. Moreover, a representation formula for the derived function is given. The irregular sampling is studied. The results improve the ones of Walter and Liu’s.

Abstract:> The sampling theorem is one of the most powerful results in signal analysis. In this paper, we study the average sampling on shift invariant subspaces, e.g. wavelet subspaces. We show that if a subspace satisfies certain conditions, then every function in the subspace is uniquely determined and can be reconstructed by its local averages near certain sampling points. Examples are given.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the non-uniform weighted average sampling for the weighted multiply generated shift-invariant space. The conditions for sampling point set to be a set of sampling for the weighted multiply generated shift-invariant space are obtained. Furthermore, the explicit bound expressions of a set of sampling inequalities for this shift-invariant spaces also are obtained.

Abstract:Sampling theorem of Shannon's type for wavelet subspace on the interval [0, L] is presented. This theorem is obtained by appling the reproducing kernel theory and the duality property of Riesz basis. In addition, for any f(t) ∈ H2 0(I) or H2(I), the Sobolev space, the approximations of f(t), f′ (t) and f″(t) are disscussed by means of the obtained sampling theorem. At last, the corresponding numerical example is also given.

Abstract:The sampling theorem is one of the most powerful tools in signal analysis. It says that to recover a function in certain function spaces, it suffices to know the values of the function on a sequence of points. Most of known results, e.g., regular and irregular sampling theorems for band-limited functions, concern global sampling. That is, to recover a function at a point or on an interval, we have to know all the samples which are usually infinitely many. On the other hand, local sampling, which invokes only finite samples to reconstruct a function on a bounded interval, is practically useful since we need only to consider a function on a bounded interval in many cases and computers can process only finite samples. In this paper, we give a characterization of local sampling sequences for spline subspaces, which is equivalent to the celebrated Schönberg-Whitney Theorem and is easy to verify. As applications, we give several local sampling theorems on spline subspaces, which generalize and improve some known results.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the problem of phase retrieval under masked Fourier measurements. Specifically, we focus on a question raised by E Candes et al, namely, to reduce the sampling complexity of such problem in noiseless case. We provide a truncated Wirtinger flow (TWF) algorithm with resampling to solve the problem. This algorithm starts with an initial guess computed by some truncated spectral method, then proceeds by successively refining the estimation via an update rule that bears a strong resemblance to a gradient descent scheme. These careful selection rules provide better initial guess and descent direction. We prove that when the sampling complexity is O(n log n), we get some good initial solution. Furthermore, the sequence generated by the resampled TWF algorithm can linearly converge to the true signal x is an element of C( )(n)with (epsilon) over tilde -accuracy up to a global phase, provided with the sampling complexity O(log(1/(epsilon) over tilde )n log(2) n). To some degree, we improve the results proposed by E Candes et al, which demand O(n log(4) n) samples.

Abstract:As a generalization of the ordinary wavelet transform, the fractional wavelet transform (FRWT) is a very promising tool for signal analysis and processing. Many of its fundamental properties are already known; however, little attention has been paid to its sampling theory. In this paper, we first introduce the concept of multiresolution analysis associated with the FRWT, and then propose a sampling theorem for signals in FRWT-based multiresolution subspaces. The necessary and sufficient condition for the sampling theorem is derived. Moreover, sampling errors due to truncation and aliasing are discussed. The validity of the theoretical derivations is demonstrated via simulations.

Abstract:The sampling theorem is one of the fundamental and powerful tools in signal processing, which is widely used in digital signal processing, wireless communication, and many other elds. Recently, the classical Shannon sampling theorem has been extended from bandlimited functions to shift invariant subspaces, and from sampling function values to sampling local averages. In this paper, we simply review the development of the sampling theory with a focus on some recent advances in average sampling, multi-channel sampling and average sampling for stochastic processes. We also introduce some results on approximation errors.

Abstract:We propose a new method for analysis of the sampling and reconstruction conditions of signals by use of the multiple-parameter fractional Fourier transform (MPFRFT). It is shown that the MPFRFT may provide a novel understanding of sampling process. The proposed sampling theorem generalizes classical Shannon sampling theorem and Fourier series expansion, and provides a fullreconstruction procedure of certain signals that are not bandlimited in the conventional Fourier transform domain. An orthogonal basis for the class of signals which are bandlimited in the MPFRFT domain is also given. Experimental results are proposed to verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the obtained results.

Abstract:Multi-channel sampling for band-limited signals is fundamental in the theory of multi-channel parallel A/D environment and multiplexing wireless communication environment. As the fractional Fourier transform has been found wide applications in signal processing fields, it is necessary to consider the multi-channel sampling theorem based on the fractional Fourier transform. In this paper, the multi-channel sampling theorem for the fractional band-limited signal is firstly proposed, which is the generalization of the well-known sampling theorem for the fractional Fourier transform. Since the periodic nonuniformly sampled signal in the fractional Fourier domain has valuable applications, the reconstruction expression for the periodic nonuniformly sampled signal has been then obtained by using the derived multi-channel sampling theorem and the specific space-shifting and phase-shifting properties of the fractional Fourier transform. Moreover, by designing different fractional Fourier filters, we can obtain reconstruction methods for other sampling strategies.

Abstract:The fractional wavelet transform (FrWT), which generalizes the ordinary wavelet transform, is a very promising tool for signal processing and analysis. A sampling theory for signals in FrWT-based multiresolution subspaces has been proposed recently. However, the signals to be sampled are regarded as lowpass signals indiscriminately. When dealing with bandpass or multiband signals, the sampling rate could be unnecessarily high. This letter investigates the sampling theory of multiband signals in multiresolution subspaces associated with the FrWT. The nonideal sampling and reconstruction scheme we proposed can guarantee lower sampling rate, fewer sampling points but subequal reconstruction performances. Numerical experiments are presented to validate the theoretical derivations.

Abstract:A new algorithm of wavelet sampling is proposed since the typical wavelet sampling lacks the capacity to filter the continuous signal by the samples as Shannon sampling does.From the viewpoint of Multiresolution approximation,a new cost function based on the samples is introduced to estimate the approximation of signal in this algorithm,so that the signal is decomposed into the orthogonal components,which has break through the limit of typical wavelet sampling that only considers the construction of signal in one Hilbert space.

Abstract:With the advent of massive data outputs at a regular rate, admittedly, signal processing technology plays an increasingly key role. Nowadays, signals are not merely restricted to physical sources, they have been extended to digital sources as well. Under the general assumption of discrete statistical signal sources, we propose a practical problem of sampling incomplete noisy signals for which we do not know a priori and the sample size is bounded. We approach this sampling problem by Shannon's channel coding theorem. We use an extremal binary channel with high probability of transmission error, which is rare in communication theory. Our main result demonstrates that it is the large Walsh coefficient(s) that characterize(s) discrete statistical signals, regardless of the signal sources. Note that this is a known fact in specific application domains such as images. By the connection of Shannon's theorem, we establish the necessary and sufficient condition for our generic sampling problem for the first time. Finally, we discuss the cryptographic significance of sparse Walsh transform.

Abstract:By using the theorems of fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) and wavelet subspace decomposition, we study the sampling theorems and the sampling relations for fractional band-limited signals and time-limited signals, and obtain new sampling theorems and sampling relations for fractional band-limited signals and time-limited signals. This sampling method makes the sampling space twice times as usual and the sampling frequency half as usual, which brings convenience for the further application of the FRFT in the fields of signal processing and communication.
