Abstract:The characteristic function of fuzzy random variables is defined based on the average chance distribution function. Then, the mathematical properties of the characteristic function, which are similar to those for random variables, are investigated, including inversion formula, uniqueness theorem, etc.

Abstract:Credibility distribution function is presented on the basis of credibility measure to describe fuzzy variable. Characteristic function of a fuzzy variable is defined as the Lebesgue-Stieltjes integral with respect to its credibility distribution function. In this paper, some mathematical properties of credibility distribution function are investigated. As a main result, continuity theorems of characteristic functions for fuzzy variables sequence are obtained.

Abstract:A random fuzzy variable is a mapping from a possibility space to a collection of random variables. In random fuzzy decision systems, two kinds of scalar chance measures of random fuzzy events are presented by using fuzzy integrals, one is the equilibrium chance measure, the other is the mean chance measure. Also, the duality of both equilibrium chance and mean chance measures are discussed. Using the mean chance measure, a new class of random fuzzy programming is proposed. At the end of the paper, a hybrid intelligent algorithm is provided to solve three numerical examples. The results show that the algorithm is effective.

Abstract:It is well-known that Hölder, Minkowski, Markov, Chebyshev and Jensen's inequalities are important and useful results in probability theory. This paper proposes to extend the usefulness of the above inequalities to the context of unccertainity analysis in intelligent systems. In order to further discuss the mathematical properties of fuzzy random variables, theanalogous inequalities for fuzzy random variables are first proved based on the chance measure and expected value operator. After that, monotonicity and continuity of critical values of fuzzy random variables are also investigated. Finally, a convergence theorem of critical values for fuzzy random sequence is obtained.

Abstract:In many cases, fuzziness and randomness simultaneously appear in a system. Hybrid variable is a tool to describe this phenomena. Fuzzy random variable and random fuzzy variable are instances of hybrid variable. In order to measure hybrid event, a concept of chance measure is proposed in this paper. Furthermore, several useful properties about this measure are proved such as self-duality, subadditivity and semicontinuity. Some concepts are also presented such as chance distribution, expected value, variance, moments, critical values, entropy, distance and sequence convergences.

Abstract:In this paper, fuzziness in probabilistic rough set is studied by fuzzy sets. we show that the variable precision approximation of a probabilistic rough set can be generalized from the vantage point of the cuts of a fuzzy set which is determined by the rough membership function. As a result, the fuzzy set can be used conveniently to describe the feature of rough set. Moreover we give a measure of fuzziness, fuzzy entropy, induced by roughness in a probabilistic rough set and make some characterizations of this measure. For three well-known entropy functions, we show that the finer the information granulation is, the less the fuzziness in a rough set. The superiority of fuzzy entropy to Pawlak's accuracy measure is illustrated with examples. Finally, the fuzzy entropy of a rough classification is defined by the fuzzy entropy of corresponding rough sets, and show that one possible application of it is to measure the inconsistency in a decision table.

Abstract:This paper deals with the degree of uncertainty associated with fuzzy variables. An information theoretical view is applied to characterize the uncertainty of fuzzy variables and the difference between measuring the uncertainty of fuzzy variables and fuzzy sets is indicated. Based on credibility measure, the entropy of fuzzy variables is formulated to quantify the uncertainty of fuzzy variables and its properties are investigated as well as some examples are given for illustration. In addition, the definition of quadratic entropy of fuzzy variables is provided as an alternative measure of uncertainty.

Abstract:Abstract Given a fuzzy variable, what is the degree of di‐culty of predicting the specifled value that the fuzzy variable will take? Entropy provides a measure to characterize the fuzziness. Given some constraints, there are usually multiple compatible membership functions. Which membership function shall we take? The maximum,entropy principle attempts to select the membership func- tion that maximizes the value of entropy. This paper provides a personal (not balanced) overview of entropy of fuzzy variables and fuzzy maximum,entropy principle. Three basic requirements for entropy of fuzzy variables are also introduced. Abstract:Typical hesitant fuzzy set is a kind of generalization of classical fuzzy set by possessing a membership degree, called as typical hesitant fuzzy element, of finite non-empty subset of the unitary interval. This paper studies the constructive approach to rough set approximation operators in typical hesitant fuzzy background. Firstly, two novel partial orders are introduced to compare two arbitrary typical hesitant fuzzy elements and typical hesitant fuzzy sets, meanwhile, the basic operations, including intersection, union and alpha-level sets of typical hesitant fuzzy sets are then proposed and their properties are studied in detail. Secondly, typical hesitant fuzzy rough sets are introduced and studied via the new operations of intersection and union. Furthermore, typical hesitant fuzzy rough approximation operators are represented by the rough approximation operators of the alpha-level set of typical hesitant fuzzy set. Finally, the connections between typical hesitant fuzzy (and crisp, respectively) relations and typical hesitant fuzzy rough (and rough typical hesitant fuzzy, respectively) approximation operators are further established.
