Abstract:With the wide range of community needs, the rapid development of information technology and the rapid extension of the Internet, modern distance education has been more and more widely used. However, the current prevalence distance education system has series of drawbacks such as poor intelligence, lacking interactive tools, the loose knowledge structure, not high degree of resource sharing. According to Multi-Agent features and the process of daily teachers' guide for the students intelligent teaching process is analyzed based on Multi-Agent, and a new modern design models of distance education system is presented based on Multi-Agent. Its main functions and some of the key technologies of the system to achieve are discussed. The model of the intelligent Agent may obtain students' information. Using the repository to guide the students to realize the automatic answer to students. © 2010 IEEE.

Abstract:In this paper, the concept of remote education and virtual classroom are extended by adding a new service that is called virtual laboratory. If we say that the traditional virtual classroom represents an interface between the students and a virtual professor while providing personalized learning materials to the users, the virtual laboratory offers a possibility to the attendees to share different resources breaking the boundaries of time and space. It enables geographically separated users to effectively facilitate remote access to various resources and devices. The system is designed with three key points, they are: modularity, reusability and common interface handling. The approach of object-oriented has been used in the development of the virtual laboratory service, and modular system which is capable of managing various resources that can possibly be shared through the virtual laboratory was made. What is more ,any specific resource agent must implement common interfaces, thus different resources that possibly have nothing in common can be shared through the same virtual laboratory service.

Abstract:Many web-based online learning systems focus more on textual and/or image based content delivery without including experiment systems, or if included they are usually operated under pre-defined conditions, such as fixed scenarios and pre-determined delivery orders. These limitations hinder personalized learning and collaboration between students and discourage student engagement. To circumvent these limitations, an Intelligent Web-based Experiment Management System (IWEMS) using multi-agent concept is presented. In the system, three kinds of software agents are used: (i) Student-Agent, responsible for assessing the knowledge levels of students. A fuzzy set based algorithm is used and the results are plotted through a dynamic polar chart; (ii) Teacher-Agent, responsible for tracking experiment progress of each student and recommending personalized the next-to-do experiment to him or her; and (iii) Co-Agent, responsible for group formation based on similar knowledge levels to facilitate collaborative learning between students. A prototype of this system is developed using a Java Agent Development Framework(JADE), where a client/server architecture and a MySQL database are used. It demonstrates the validity of the design and effectiveness of this system's functionality, achieves the personalization recommendation of next-to-do experiment and collaborative learning environment.

This system is composed of intelligent psychological counseling module, psychological test module, information managing module, assistant decision module and facial expression recognition module, which can gain students’ relative information and make sure their psychological state, furthermore, some interferential methods and suggestion are given. The system realizes in Java-environment based on multi-Agent technology.

Abstract:The Smart Classroom project explores the challenges and potentials of the Intelligent Environment as a new human-computer interaction paradigm. By constructing an intelligent classroom for tele-education, we try to provide teachers the same experiences as in an ordinary classroom when giving tele-education lessons. The Smart Classroom could actively observe, listen and serve the teachers, and teachers can write on a wall-size media-board just by their hands, or use speeches and gestures to conduct the class discussion involving of the distant students. This paper discusses the advantages and main underlying technologies of this system.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel Robust System of Multi-Dimension Education Agents (RSMDEA) has been proposed. RSMDEA is based on a distributed and parallel network-computing platform with multi-agent technique and distributed and parallel algorithms, such as co-evolutionary algorithms. RSMDEA can also be applied into multi-dimension education network platform or applications. Distributed and parallel architecture is the important feature of RSMDEA. Another important feature of RSMDEA is robustness. Based on problem reduction method, robust,problem of RSMDEA in ideal distributed environment has been reduced and transformed into robust problems of single agents and discrete control processes. RSMDEA can be used widely in E-learning fields, especially for today's education network with too many unsafe challenges.

Abstract:Web-based learning systems are one of the most interesting topics in the area of the application of computers to education. Collaborative learning, as an important principle in constructivist learning theory, is an important instruction mode for open and distance learning systems. Through collaborative learning, students can greatly improve their creativity, exploration capability, and social cooperation. This paper used an agent-based coordination mechanism to respond to the requirements of an efficient and motivating learning process. This coordination mechanism is based on a Web-based constructivist collaborative learning system, in which students can learn in groups and interact with each other by several kinds of communication modes to achieve their learning objectives efficiently and actively. In this learning system, artificial agents represent an active part in the collaborative learning process; they can partially replace human instructors during the multi-mode interaction of the students.

Abstract:Ubiquitous computing is a new emerging computing style which adapts various computing devices throughout our living and working spaces. These devices include mobile devices (such as PDAs, smartphones), traditional desktop, smart-board and so on. Mobile devices coordinate with each other and network services seamlessly, yet they are often inactive and even when in use they are most of the time disconnected from the network, which severely limits their use for ubiquitous interaction with the environment's entities. In this paper we study the integration of Collaborative Mobile Environment (CoMoE) and interactive devices such as smart-board to overcome the pervious problems. The focus of this work is on the development of the integration architectural framework. This architectural framework is based on Coordinated Intelligent Rational Agent (CIR-Agent) model, which supports sophisticated real-time interaction among agents. Also we discuss the notion of personal assistant agents that allows the physical integration and interoperability of entities in an environment and in the same time provides assistance in achieving user's goals.

Abstract:As an inevitable trend, the web-based instruction system development will be more intelligent. This kind of intelligence-based instruction system will be advantageous to the teaching result and strengthen the student’s learning motivation. The Intelligence Tutor System( ITS) and intelligence pedagogical agency are two kinds of main methods of current web-based instruction system development. Compared to the ITS, the pedagogical agent can embed better into current web-based instruction system. Owing to the domestic and international application of pedagogical agency of the prototype of the intelligence-based system and the investigation of the practical design project, this research firstly analyzes the system features of the pedagogical agent. Secondly, this research constructs the design framework from movement mechanism, the interface between intelligence agent and web-based learning environment, the construction and connection of acts of intelligence agent, the control of acts of intelligence agent and the integration of intelligence agent and web-based instruction system.

Abstract:In this paper, we present our current work on Intelligent Environment - the Smart Classroom project. It is an augmented classroom used for teachers in the distant education. The teacher can write directly on a wall-size media-board or use speech and gesture to conduct the class discussion involving of the distant students. It is just the experience that the teacher was familiar with in the ordinary classroom educations. This paper explained the motivation of this project and discussed the main challenges of the project, which we considered also have significances to other Intelligent Environment projects. Our current progress and the approaches we used are also described.

Abstract:Smart Classroom is a Smart Space developed to enhance tele-education practice. This paper describes the considerations of bringing forward Smart Platform as the software infrastructure of Smart Classroom system, abandoning the former implementation based on OAA. As a multi-agent system for Smart Space, Smart Platform encompasses following features: spontaneous discovery of runtime environment, automatic management and resolving of agent dependencies, combination of delegated communication and peer-to-peer communication, etc. In addition, a surrogate agent on Smart Platform and Metaglue from MIT is now being developed to inter-connect Smart Classroom with MIT's Intelligent Room to extend their functionality.

Abstract:Based on the analysis of the process of the collaborative e-leaming system and the characteristics of Multi-agent technology, this paper brings forward a collaborative e-learning system framework founded on Multi-agent. Meanwhile, it provides with the key technology to realize e-leaming and the arithmetic to search for the collaborator, carries out further analysis of the system's operating mechanism, multi-agent's logic structure, Agent capacity and time complexity. According to this framework, it is easy to realize the Web-based e-leaming among several individuals and the knowledge's intertransferring, which is good to improve the e-leaming efficiency and lift the knowledge level of the whole internet organization.
Smart Remote Classroom: Creating a Revolutionary Real-Time Interactive Distance Learning System

Abstract:Real-time interactive virtual classroom is an important type of distance learning. However currently available systems are insufficient in the support of large-scale user access, and neither can they accommodate accessing with heterogeneous devices and networks. Furthermore, these systems are usually desktop-based, which results that the teachers’ experience is completely different from teaching in a real classroom. The Smart Remote Classroom project tackles these difficulties through the development of the following technologies: 1) A hybrid application-layer Multicast protocol called TORM and an Adaptive Content Delivery scheme called AMTM. Together they enable largescale users to access a virtual classroom with different devices and networks at the same time. 2) A dedicated software called SameView, which take use of the proposed TORM and AMTM technology and provide a rich set of functions for teachers and students to efficiently carry out the real-time interactive distance learning. Moreover, SameView can record the whole process of a class into a compound multimedia document for later retrieval and review of the class. 3) An augmented classroom called Smart Classroom, where the user interface of the SameView for the teacher are distributed in and fused with the room space. Thus the teacher can instruct the remote students just like teaching face-to-face in a conventional classroom. All these technologies has been successfully integrated and demonstrated in the prototype system.
