Abstract:During the past over 30 years, intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) has been attracted a special attention in artificial intelligence (AI) area. However, the intelligence and collaboration of ITS will not always be very perfect. With the emergency of agent technology, many researchers have rebuilt the confidence in ITS research. And many achievements have been made in recent years. This paper designs a collaborative ITS model using agent technology called ACITS (Note: here we will use ACITS as the abbreviation of the model name). Then it introduces this model in detail, including architecture, working process of ACITS, as well as the collaboration of student agents in ACITS. It might benefit for improving the collaboration and intelligence of ITS.

Abstract:With the wide range of community needs, the rapid development of information technology and the rapid extension of the Internet, modern distance education has been more and more widely used. However, the current prevalence distance education system has series of drawbacks such as poor intelligence, lacking interactive tools, the loose knowledge structure, not high degree of resource sharing. According to Multi-Agent features and the process of daily teachers' guide for the students intelligent teaching process is analyzed based on Multi-Agent, and a new modern design models of distance education system is presented based on Multi-Agent. Its main functions and some of the key technologies of the system to achieve are discussed. The model of the intelligent Agent may obtain students' information. Abstract:This article describes designs that use multiple conversational agents within the framework of intelligent tutoring systems. Agents in this case are computerized talking heads or embodied animated avatars that help students learn by performing actions and holding conversations with them in natural language. The earliest conversational intelligent tutoring systems were limited to a single agent that interacted with a student in the role of a teacher or expert. Technological advances have since made possible systems in which multiple agents interact with the learner and each other to model ideal behavior, strategies, reflections, and social interactions. Though still an emerging technology, multi-agent intelligent tutoring systems afford pedagogical benefits that go beyond the capabilities of the single-agent system and have facilitated learning gains on a variety of subject matters and skills, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, research methods, metacognition, and language comprehension. The present work describes some common multi-agent designs that may be used to achieve a variety of pedagogical goals. We provide examples of how these designs have been implemented in educational or experimental settings and anticipate future use within the field of artificial intelligence.

Abstract:To build an intelligent tutoring system, a key task is to define an expertise model that can support appropriate tutoring services. However, for some ill-defined domains, classical approaches for representing expertise do not work well. To address this issue, we illustrate in this paper a novel approach which is to combine several approaches into a hybrid model to support tutoring services in procedural and ill-defined domains. We illustrate this idea in a tutoring system for operating Canadarm2, a robotic arm installed on the international space station. To support tutoring services in this ill-defined domain, we have developed a model combining three approaches: (1) a data mining approach for automatically building a task model from user solutions, (2) a cognitive model to cover well-defined parts of the task and spatial reasoning, (3) and a 3D path-planner to cover all other aspects of the task. Experimental results show that the hybrid model allows providing assistance to learners that is much richer than what could be offered by each individual approach.

Abstract:Web-based learning systems are one of the most interesting topics in the area of the application of computers to education. Collaborative learning, as an important principle in constructivist learning theory, is an important instruction mode for open and distance learning systems. Through collaborative learning, students can greatly improve their creativity, exploration capability, and social cooperation. This paper used an agent-based coordination mechanism to respond to the requirements of an efficient and motivating learning process. This coordination mechanism is based on a Web-based constructivist collaborative learning system, in which students can learn in groups and interact with each other by several kinds of communication modes to achieve their learning objectives efficiently and actively. In this learning system, artificial agents represent an active part in the collaborative learning process; they can partially replace human instructors during the multi-mode interaction of the students.

Abstract:Todays, Intelligent and web-based E-learning is one of regarded topics. So researchers are trying to optimize and expand its application in the field of education. The aim of this paper is developing of E-learning software which is customizable, dynamic, intelligent and adaptive with Pedagogy view for learners in intelligent schools. This system is an integration of adaptive web-based E-learning with expert systems as well. Learning process in this system is as follows. First intelligent tutor determines learning style and characteristics of learner by a questionnaire and then makes his model. After that the expert system simulator plans a pre-test and then calculates his score. If the learner gets the required score, the concept will be trained. Finally the learner will be evaluated by a post-test. The proposed system can improves the education efficiency highly as well as de-creases the costs and problems of an expert tutor. As a result, every time and eve-rywhere (ETEW) learning would be provided via web in this system. Moreover the learners can enjoy a cheap remote learning even at home in a virtual simulated physical class. So they can learn thousands courses very simple and fast.

Abstract:The depth integration of Internet + Education and the introduction of intelligent technologies, are reconstructing the education system. In this paper, we construct a knowledge graph of discipline field by using web ontology technology, and propose a two-layer architecture model that relationally maps the knowledge unit of specialized courses to the knowledge elements of discipline field through learning goal. The Marzano educational instructional framework is introduced as the description standards of the goals, resources, evaluation of learning and learner's knowledge state, etc. The corresponding generation rule of learning goals ranking strategy is given, and therefore the recommended learning roadmap can be automatically deduced from the knowledge graph. The combination of knowledge space theory and Vygotsky's "Zone of Proximal Development" offers an intelligent tutoring algorithm, which has well solved intelligent tutoring problem based on learning goal and graph in online education.

Abstract:The intelligent teaching system is the most important in the field of teaching. It uses artificial intelligence technology to bring a lot of help to learners in terms of knowledge and skill acquisition. In this process, human tutors are not required to participate. The student model is the core of the intelligent teaching system. Using the Bayesian network with strong self-learning ability to construct the intelligent teaching system student model can significantly improve the intelligence level of the intelligent teaching system. Firstly, we discussed the basic concepts of the student model of the intelligent teaching system. Then, from the perspective of students' ability teaching, combined with the students' learning status and characteristics, the factors influencing the students' learning process are analyzed. Finally, an intelligent teaching system student model was built based on Bayesian network. This model can objectively evaluate students' cognitive ability and can infer students' next action. In addition, the model is also applicable to the online test system, and the experimental results obtained demonstrate the effectiveness of the modified model.

Abstract:Intelligent technology to achieve efficient individualized learning is an important part of distance learning. This paper analyses the problems to be solved during applying intelligent technology in existing distance learning systems. For the courseware learning model, an intelligent distance learning model is presented based on a combined courseware structure, which reflects the relationships among knowledge modules. An algorithm is then developed for intelligent navigation and answers. The three functions of intelligent courseware, intelligent navigation and intelligent answering are realized utilizing a software agent and multi agent technology. A test system implemented to validate the model shows that effectiveness of the intelligent distance learning system model based on a combined courseware structure and software agent.

Abstract:Most of the intelligent tutoring system (ITS) is used to deliver knowledge and train skills based on the expert model. According to the theories of leaning, learning by teaching method is more efficient for enhancing motivation to learn and cognitive ability than learning by listening or learning by reading. For the purpose of developing an adaptive intelligent agent to enhance the motivation to learn, the new type of teachable agent were designed and implemented, the KORI (KORea university Intelligent agent), in which the user plays a role of a tutor by teaching the agent using a concept map, posing questions, and providing feedbacks. KORI consists of four independent modules: teach module, Q&A module, test module, and resource module. In teach module, the KORI’s knowledge is structured and organized through the concept map and the KORI makes new knowledge from the inference engine. In Q&A module, the KORI can provide answers to the users’ questions through an interactive window. It is expected that providing the user with the active role of teaching the agent enhance the motivation to learn and the positive attitude toward the subject matter as well as cognition.

Abstract:Traditional educational techniques and conceptions no longer match the need of the society for talent training. It is due to the fact that educational reforms are deepening and more open interactive teaching models have begun to be gradually implemented in college English instruction. The method's innovation and reform can not only fully respect the students' dominating position but also entice students to devote themselves to the English classroom with greater zeal which is helpful in allowing for deeper knowledge discovery and thinking. This study has the motive to examine the interactive teaching mode's application tactics in college English classrooms, particularly with the goal of improving the effectiveness of English classroom teaching and promoting the high-quality growth of today's college students. Furthermore, in order to improve the interactivity of online English teaching in colleges and universities, this research proposes an intelligent conversation system based on multiagents to aid in the improvement of online teaching. Finally, using a public discourse corpus dataset for implementation, the proposed model proves to have better performance than existing state of the art approaches.

Abstract:Intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs) have consistently been shown to improve the educational outcomes of students when used alone or combined with traditional instruction. However, building an ITS is a time-consuming process which requires specialized knowledge of existing tools. Extant authoring methods, including the Cognitive Tutor Authoring Tools' (CTAT) example-tracing method and SimStudent's Authoring by Tutoring, use programming-by-demonstration to allow authors to build ITSs more quickly than they could by hand programming with model-tracing. Yet these methods still suffer from long authoring times or difficulty creating complete models. In this study, we demonstrate that Simulated Learners built with the Apprentice Learner (AL) Framework can be combined with a novel interaction design that emphasizes model transparency, input flexibility, and problem solving control to enable authors to achieve greater model completeness in less time than existing authoring methods.

Abstract:The traditional English teaching system has certain problems in the acquisition of teaching resources and the innovation of teaching models. In order to improve the effect of subsequent English online teaching, this paper improves the machine learning algorithm to make it a core algorithm that can be used by artificial intelligence systems. Moreover, this paper combines the WBIETS system to expand the system function, analyzes the needs of the English network teaching system, and constructs the system function modules and logical structure. The data layer, logic layer, and presentation layer in the system constructed in this paper are independent of each other and can be effectively expanded when subsequent requirements change. In addition, this paper solves the problem of acquiring English teaching resources through the WBIETS system. To evaluate the performance of the English network teaching system, this paper performs comprehensive mathematical and experimental analysis. The experimental results show that the system constructed in this paper basically meets the actual teaching requirements.
