Abstract:In this paper, we study the variational principle and the existence of periodic solutions for a new class of second-order ordinary p-Laplacian systems. The variational principle is given by making use of two methods. We obtain three existence theorems of periodic solutions to this problem on various sufficient conditions on the potential function F(t,x) or nonlinearity ∇F(t,x). Four examples are presented to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:The existence and uniqueness of T-periodic solutions for the following boundary value problems with p-Laplacian: (ϕp(x′))′+f(t,x′)+g(t,x)=e(t),x(0)=x(T),x′(0)=x′(T) are investigated, where ϕp(u)=∣u∣p−2u with p>1 and f,g,e are continuous and are T-periodic in t with f(t,0)=0. Using coincidence degree theory, some existence and uniqueness results are presented.

Abstract:We obtain existence an multiplicity of harmonic and subharmonic solutions to the periodically forced nonlinear Duffing′s equation x″ + g(x) = p(t) in the semi-linear case: 0 < A ≤ g(x)/x ≤ B < + ∞, for |x| large. We introduce new conditions of nonresonance with respect to the spectrum of the associated linear differential operator x↦ −x″ and show, by some nonlinear counterexamples, that the results are sharp.

Abstract:Ordinary and partial differential equations with operators containing the p-Laplace operator, the so called ϕ-Laplace operator, operators with variable exponents and the double phase operators have been studied thoroughly for at least the last 20 years and the amount of papers dealing with these subjects is huge. In this paper we deal with the problem of the existence of periodic solutions to some system of ODE's involving a fairly general operator generalizing in this form corresponding results for the areas of research just mentioned. In our results neither the function generating the differential operator nor the right hand side function in the boundary value problem considered are necessarily equal to the gradient of a function. Our main result is a here is a continuation theorem based on the Leray-Schauder degree theory which allows us to obtain the existence of solutions for the boundary value problem considered.

Abstract:In this paper we use abstract bifurcation theory for Fredholm operators of index zero to deal with periodic even solutions of the one-dimensional equation $\mathcal{L}u=\lambda u+|u|^{p}$, where $\mathcal{L}$ is a nonlocal pseudodifferential operator defined as a Fourier multiplier and $\lambda$ is the bifurcation parameter. Our general setting includes the fractional Laplacian $\mathcal{L}\equiv(-\Delta)^{s}$ and sharpens the results obtained for this operator to date. As a direct application, we establish the existence of traveling waves for general nonlocal dispersive equations for some velocity ranges.

Abstract:In this paper we are concerned with the existence of periodic solutions for semilinear Duffing equations with impulsive effects. Firstly for the autonomous one, basing on Poincaré-Birkhoff twist theorem, we prove the existence of infinitely many periodic solutions. Secondly, as for the nonautonomous case, the impulse brings us great challenges for the study, and there are only finitely many periodic solutions, which is quite different from the corresponding equation without impulses. Here, taking the autonomous one as an auxiliary equation, we find the relation between these two equations and then obtain the result also by Poincaré-Birkhoff twist theorem.

Abstract:We study the stability and exact multiplicity of periodic solutions of the Duffing equation with cubic nonlinearities. We obtain sharp bounds for h such that the equation has exactly three ordered T-periodic solutions. Moreover, when h is within these bounds, one of the three solutions is negative, while the other two are positive. The middle solution is asymptotically stable, and the remaining two are unstable.

Abstract:In this paper we are concerned with the construction of periodic solutions of the nonlocal problem <math>(−Δ)su=f(u)</math> in <math>R</math>, where <math>(−Δ)s</math> stands for the s-Laplacian, <math>s∈(0,1)</math>. We introduce a suitable framework which allows, by means of regularity, to link the searching of such solutions into the existence of the ones of a semilinear problem in a suitable Hilbert space. Then by a bifurcation theory from eigenvalues of odd multiplicity and also variational method that avoid the constant solutions we get existence theorems which are lately enlightened with the analysis of some examples. In particular, multiplicity results for generalized Benjamin-Ono equation are obtained.
