Abstract:Recently, CQ method has been investigated extensively. However, it is mainly applied to modify Mann, Ishikawa and Halpern iterations to get strong convergence. In this paper, we study the properties of CQ method and proposed a framework. Based on that, we obtain a series of strong convergence theorems. Some of them are the extensions of previous results. On the other hand, CQ method, monotone Q method, monotone C method and monotone CQ method, used to be given separately, have the following relations: CQ method TRUE $\Rightarrow$ monotone Q method TRUE $\Rightarrow$ monotone C method TRUE $\Leftrightarrow$ monotone CQ method TRUE.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish results fully addressing two open problems proposed recently by I. Ivanov, see Nonlinear Analysis 69 (2008) 4012-4024, with respect to the convergence of the accelerated Riccati iteration method for solving the continuous coupled algebraic Riccati equation, or CCARE for short. These results confirm several desirable features of that method, including the monotonicity and boundedness of the sequences it produces, its capability of determining whether the CCARE has a solution, the extremal solutions it computes under certain circumstances, and its faster convergence than the regular Riccati iteration method.

Abstract:We study the issue of strong convergence of inexact proximal point algorithms (introduced by Rockafellar in [SIAM J. Control Optim., 14 (1976), pp. 877-898]) for maximal monotone operators on Hilbert spaces. A unified global/local strong convergence of inexact proximal point algorithms is established under the Holder metrically subregular condition. Furthermore, quantitative estimates on the convergence rate of inexact proximal point algorithms are also provided. Applying to the special case of the classical (exact) proximal point algorithm, our results improve the corresponding ones in [G. Li and B. S. Mordukhovich, SIAM J. Optim., 22 (2012), pp. 1655-1684]. Finally, as applications, global/local strong convergence and estimates on the convergence rate of inexact proximal point algorithms for optimization problems are presented.

Abstract:Inexact proximal point methods are extended to find singular points for multivalued vector fields on Hadamard manifolds. Convergence criteria are established under some mild conditions. In particular, in the case of proximal point algorithm, that is, ε _n=0 for each n , our results improve sharply the corresponding results in Li et al. ( 2009 ). Applications to optimization problems, variational inequality problems and gradient methods are also given.

Abstract:In the present paper, we consider inexact proximal point algorithms for finding singular points of multivalued vector fields on Hadamard manifolds. The rate of convergence is shown to be linear under the mild assumption of metric subregularity. Furthermore, if the sequence of parameters associated with the iterative scheme converges to 0, then the convergence rate is superlinear. At the same time, the finite termination of the inexact proximal point algorithm is also provided under a weak sharp minima-like condition. Applications to optimization problems are provided. Some of our results are new even in Euclidean spaces, while others improve and/or extend some known results in Euclidean spaces. As a matter of fact, in the case of exact proximal point algorithm, our results improve the corresponding results in [G. C. Bento and J. X. Cruz Neto, Opttm., 63 (2014), pp. 1281-1288]. Finally, several examples are provided to illustrate that our results are applicable while the corresponding results in the Hilbert space setting are not.

Abstract:By using the Ishikawa iterative algorithm, we approximate the fixed points and the best proximity points of a relatively non expansive mapping. Also, we use the von Neumann sequence to prove the convergence result in a Hilbert space setting. A comparison table is prepared using a numerical example which shows that the Ishikawa iterative algorithm is faster than some known iterative algorithms such as Picard and Mann iteration.

Abstract:The relaxed CQ algorithm is one of the most important algorithms for solving the split feasibility problem. We study the issue of strong convergence of the relaxed CQ algorithm in Hilbert spaces together with estimates on the convergence rate. Under a kind of Holderian type bounded error bound property, strong convergence of the relaxed CQ algorithm is established. Furthermore, qualitative estimates on the convergence rate is presented. In particular, for the case when the involved exponent is equal to 1, the linear convergence of the relaxed CQ algorithm is established. Finally, numerical experiments are performed to show the convergence property of the relaxed CQ algorithm for the compressed sensing problem.

Abstract:In the present paper, we study the finite termination of sequences generated by inexact proximal point algorithms for finding zeroes of a maximal monotone (set-valued) operator T on a Hilbert space. Under some mild conditions, we get that a sequence generated by inexact proximal point algorithm stops after a finite number of iterations. Our results extend the corresponding results in Rockafellar (SIAM J Control Optim 14:877–898, 1976 ). In particular, for optimization problems, our results improve corresponding results in Ferris (Math Progr 50:359–366, 1991 ). As applications, we obtain finite termination of projected gradient method.

Abstract:In this paper, we present two modified algorithms for finding a common element of the solution set of a quasimonotone variational inequality and the fixed point set of demicontractive mapping. The main advantage of such iterative methods is that it does not require Lipschitz continuity and the mapping only needs to be quasimonotonicity. Therefore, our algorithms can be applied to more general variational inequalities. Several numerical experiments are provided to verify the preponderance and efficiency of the proposed algorithms.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose an inertial iterative method for solving a common solution to the fixed point and mixed equilibrium problem in Hilbert spaces. We prove the sequence generated by the proposed algorithm strongly converges to an element in the solution set of mixed equilibrium problems of a pair of bi-function, which is also the solution to a fixed point of demicontractive mapping. Finally, we give some numerical experiments to support our main result. Our result extends and generalizes some earlier announced results in the literature.

Abstract:This paper concerns common fixed points for a finite family of hemicontractions or a finite family of strict pseudocontractions on uniformly convex Banach spaces. By introducing a new iteration process with error term, we obtain sufficient and necessary conditions, as well as sufficient conditions, for the existence of a fixed point. As one will see, we derive these strong convergence theorems in uniformly convex Banach spaces and without any requirement of the compactness on the domain of the mapping. The results given in this paper extend some previous theorems.

Abstract:Several fundamental concepts such as the basic constraint qualification (BCQ), the strong conical hull intersection property (CHIP), and the perturbations for convex systems of inequalities in Banach spaces (over R or C) are extended and studied; here the systems are not necessarily finite. Their relationships with each other in connection with the best approximations are investigated. As applications, we establish results on the unconstrained reformulation of best approximations with infinitely many constraints in Hilbert spaces; also we give several characterizations of best restricted range approximations in C(Q) under quite general constraints.

Abstract:The notions of Lipschitz conditions with L average are introduced to the study of convergence analysis of Gauss–Newton’s method for singular systems of equations. Unified convergence criteria ensuring the convergence of Gauss–Newton’s method for one kind of singular systems of equations with constant rank derivatives are established and unified estimates of radii of convergence balls are also obtained. Applications to some special cases such as the Kantorovich type conditions, γ-conditions and the Smale point estimate theory are provided and some important known results are extended and/or improved.

Abstract:This paper designs and studies a numerically fast proximal point algorithm to solve the monotone inclusion problem in Hilbert spaces. Our first proposed algorithm combines the proximal point algorithm, inertial term, and two correction terms. The addition of two correction terms is considered to further numerically accelerate the convergence speed of the inertial proximal point algorithm already studied in the literature. In our convergence results, we obtain both weak and linear convergence of the first proposed algorithm under some standard assumptions. Furthermore, we modify the first algorithm to obtain a strongly convergent algorithm. Applications of our proposed algorithm to mixed variational inequalities, strongly quasi-convex minimization problems, and Douglas–Rachford splitting algorithm are given. Numerical results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms other related algorithms in the literature.

Abstract:The primary goal of this paper is to find a common solution of a split null point problem, split variational inequality problem and fixed point problem for a nonexpansive semigroup with the help of new type of iterative algorithm. We construct that the sequences induced by the proposed iterative method to solve the above stated problems in the setting of real Hilbert spaces and obtain a strong convergence theorem. We also deduce certain consequences from the main convergence result. At the end, we provide a numerical experiment to demonstrate the convergence analysis of proposed iterative method. The methodology and conclusion described in this work extend and unify previously published findings in this field.
