Abstract:Quasi-open bisimilarity is a variant of the open bisimilarity based on a closer examination of the observationality of local names. The paper investigates two alternative characterizations of the quasi-open bisimilarity and provides a complete system for the weak quasi-open congruence.

Abstract:In this paper, we study weak bisimulation congruences for the X-calculus, a symmetric variant of the pi-calculus. We distinguish two styles of such bisimulation definitions, i.e. "open" and "closed" bisimulation, the difference between which lies in that in open style the equivalence is closed under context in every bisimulation step whereas in closed style the equivalence is closed under context only at the very beginning. As a result, we show that both in labelled and barbed congruence, the open and closed style definitions coincide. Thus all bisimulation congruences collapse into two equivalences, that is, the well-known open congruence and open barbed congruence, which axe the same in the strong case, while in the weak case their difference can be reflected by one axiom. The results of this paper close some conjectures in the literatures and shed light on the algebraic theory of a large class of mobile process calculi.

Abstract:The paper carries out a systematic investigation into the axiomatization problem of the asymmetric chi calculus. As a crucial step in attacking the problem, an open style bisimilarity is defined for each of the eighteen L-bisimilarities and the two are proved to be equal. On top of the open bisimilarities, explicit definitions of the eighteen L-congruences are given, which suggest immediately possible axioms for the congruence relations. In addition to the axioms for strong bisimilarity, the paper proposes altogether twenty one additional axioms, three of which being the well-known tau laws and the other eighteen being new. These axioms help to lift a complete system for the strong bisimilarity to complete systems for the eighteen L-congruences.

Abstract:This paper investigates the symbolic semantics of the weak open congruence on finite pi processes with the mismatch operator. The standard definition of weak open congruence gives rise to an ill-defined equivalence in the presence of the mismatch operator. Two alternatives. that is, the symbolic weak late open congruence and symbolic weak early open congruence are proposed. We show that they coincide with the non-symbolic version late and early open congruence respectively. Axiomatization systems for the two weak open congruences are given, which are essentially the symbolic proof system for strong open congruence with the different tau laws. The soundness and completeness of these proof systems are shown. The results can be seen as the basis of automated algorithms and tools to check the weak open bisimulation and give more insights into the symbolic semantics and bisimilation theory.

Abstract:Bisimilarity plays an important role in the analysis and verification of concurrent systems.In this paper,an optimization of the quasi-local algorithm of Du and Deng is proposed to make it applicable for general labeled transition systems.Both the optimized algorithm and the local algorithm of Fernandez and Mounier are implemented in Java,and experiment using the VLTS benchmark suite shows the former outperforms the latter in most cases.The algorithms are also modified to check similarity.Finally,a procedure for transforming labeled transition systems is implemented to facilitate checking weak bisimilarity.

Abstract:Bisimilarity is one of the most important relations for comparing the behaviour of formal systems in concurrency theory. Decision algorithms for bisimilarity in finite state systems are usually classified into two kinds: global algorithms are generally efficient but require to generate the whole state spaces in advance, local algorithms combine the verification of a system's behaviour with the generation of the system's state space, which is often more effective to determine that one system fails to be related to another. In this paper we propose a quasi-local algorithm with worst case time complexity O(m1m2), where m1 and m2 are the numbers of transitions in two labelled transition systems. With mild modifications, the algorithm can be easily adapted to decide similarity with the same time complexity. For deterministic systems, the algorithm can be simplified and runs in time O(min(m1, m2)).

Abstract:Les automates ouverts(OA) sont des modeles symboliques et parametres pour les systemes concurrents ouverts. Ici,ouvert designe des systemes partiellement specifies, qui peuvent etre instancies ou assembles pour construire de plus grands systemes. Une propriete importante pour de tels systemes est la "compositionnalite", ce qui signifie que les proprietes logiques et les equivalences peuvent etre verifiees localement et seront preservees par la composition. Dans des travaux anterieurs, une notion d’equivalence nommee FH-Bisimulationa ete definie pour les automates ouverts et se revelait etre une congruence pour leur composition. Mais cette equivalence a ete definie pour une variante des automates ouverts intrinsequement infinis,ce qui la rend impropre au traitement algorithmique.Nous definissons une nouvelle forme d’equivalence nommee StrFH-Bisimulation, travaillant sur des codages finis des OA. Nous prouvons que la StrFH-Bisimulation est coherente et complete pour la FH-Bisimulation.Nous proposons ensuite deux algorithmes pour verifier StrFH-Bisimulation: le premier re-quiert une relation (definie par l’utilisateur) entre les etats de deux OA finis, et verifie s’il s’agit d’une strFH-Bisimulation. La seconde prend deux AO finies en entree et construit une "StrFH-bisimulation la plus faible" telle que leurs etats initiaux soient bisimilaires. Nous prouvons que cet algorithme termine lorsque les domaines de donnees sont finis. Les deux algorithmes utilisent un solveur SMT comme base pour resoudre les obligations de preuve.

Abstract:We introduce three general compositionality criteria over operational semantics and prove that, when all three are satisfied together, they guarantee weak bisimulation being a congruence. Our work is founded upon Turi and Plotkin's mathematical operational semantics and the coalgebraic approach to weak bisimulation by Brengos. We demonstrate each criterion with various examples of success and failure and establish a formal connection with the simply WB cool rule format of Bloom and van Glabbeek. In addition, we show that the three criteria induce lax models in the sense of Bonchi et al.

Abstract:This is the fourth of a series of papers on concurrent computation models. Based on the bisimulation lattice discussed in the previous paper, it gives complete equational axiomatization of the largest congruence contained in each of the four L-bisimilarities. This is done by exploiting the coincidence of L-bisimilarities and their open characterization. The complete system of the bottom congruence relation consists of the laws for strong bisimilarity and the three well-known tau laws. Complete systems for the other three congruence relations are obtained by extending this system with a prefix law.

Abstract:Recently a branching bisimilarity congruence has been established for randomized process models in a model independent approach. In this paper, we propose a new probabilistic weak bisimilarity for randomized CCS and show that it is a congruence. We also provide a complete axiomatization for the finite submodel. Both work respect model independency and thus can be easily generalized to randomized extension of any interactive model.

Abstract:The well-known Farkas-Minkowski (FM) type qualification plays an important role in linear semi-infinite programming and has been extensively developed by many authors in establishing optimality conditions, duality, and stability for semi-infinite programming. In this paper, we introduce the concept of the quasi-Slater condition for a semi-infinite convex inequality system and present that the Slater type conditions imply the FM qualification under some appropriate continuity assumption of the set-valued mapping i bar right arrow f(i)(x). Applying these relationships, we establish dual characterizations, both asymptotic and nonasymptotic, for set containment problems and provide some sufficient conditions for ensuring the strong Lagrangian duality and Farkas lemma.

Abstract:Simulations and bisimulations are known to be useful for abstracting and comparing formal systems, and they have recently been introduced into fuzzy systems. In this study, we provide sound and complete logical characterizations for simulation and bisimulation, which are defined over fuzzy labeled transition systems via two variants of the Hennessy–Milner Logic. The logic for characterizing fuzzy simulation has neither negation nor disjunction, which is very different from the well-known logical characterizations of probabilistic simulations, although the completeness proofs of our characterization results are inspired by relevant research in probabilistic concurrency theory. The logic for characterizing fuzzy bisimulation also deviates from that for probabilistic bisimulations.

Abstract:Bisimulation is a well-known behavioral equivalence for discrete event systems, and has recently been adopted and developed in fuzzy systems. In this paper, we propose a new bisimulation, i.e., the group-by-group fuzzy bisimulation, for fuzzy transition systems. It relaxes the fully matching requirement of the bisimulation definition proposed by Cao et al. (2010) [2], and can equate more pairs of states which are deemed to be equivalent intuitively, but which cannot be equated in previous definitions. We carry out a systematic investigation on this new notion of bisimulation. In particular, a fixed point characterization of the group-by-group fuzzy bisimilarity is given, based on which, we provide a polynomial-time algorithm to check whether two states in a fuzzy transition system are group-by-group fuzzy bisimilar. Moreover, a modal logic, which is an extension of the Hennessy–Milner logic, is presented to completely characterize the group-by-group fuzzy bisimilarity.

Abstract:There has been a long history of using fuzzy-language equivalence to compare the behavior of fuzzy systems; however, the comparison at this level is too coarse. Recently, a finer behavioral measure, i.e., bisimulation, has been introduced to fuzzy-finite automata. However, the results obtained are applicable only to finite-state systems. In this paper, we consider bisimulation for general fuzzy systems, which may be infinite state or infinite event, by modeling them as fuzzy-transition systems (FTSs). To help understand and check bisimulation, we characterize it in three ways by enumerating whole transitions, comparing individual transitions, and using a monotonic function. In addition, we address composition operations, subsystems, quotients, and homomorphisms of FTSs and discuss their properties connected with bisimulation. The results presented here are useful to compare the behavior of general fuzzy systems. In particular, this makes it possible to relate an infinite fuzzy system to a finite one, which is easier to analyze, with the same behavior.

Abstract:The qCCS model proposed by Feng et al. provides a powerful framework to describe and reason about quantum communication systems that could be entangled with the environment. However, they only studied weak bisimulation semantics. In this paper we propose a new branching bisimilarity for qCCS and show that it is a congruence. The new bisimilarity is based on the concept of ε -tree and preserves the branching structure of concurrent processes where both quantum and classical components are allowed. Furthermore, we present a polynomial time equivalence checking algorithm for the ground version of our branching bisimilarity.

Abstract:In this paper a. systematic study of bisimilarities on asymmetric X-not equal-processes is carried out. The notion of L-bisimilarities on asymmetric X-not equal-processes is introduced. Twelve distinct L-bisimilarities are derived from all of L-bisimilarities by constructing a bisimulation lattice. For each of these twelve distinct L-bisimilarities, its open version is defined and showed to coincide with it, and then its congruence is presented. Three update laws are proposed and three tau laws are modified. Finally, sound complete equational systems are established for twelve congruences.
