Abstract:Conventional data persistence technology is to store the object to relational database through object-relation mapping,but its easy-use performance and efficiency always remain problems.In this paper,we introduce a more convenient alternative with higher performance:i.e.,to store mass data to object-oriented database.However the use of object-oriented database may be not well known by quite a few programmers since it has not been commonly used at moment yet.Thus we propose an extended Java collection framework based on object-oriented database,through which the programmers can operate the object-oriented database as using common Java collection API.The performance of persistence is also enhanced compared with using common relational database.

Abstract:This paper describes a high-performance architecture of a object persistent layer,which is a middleware between object-oriented application and RDBMS.This paper focuses on the Cache techniques and proposes a two-tier Cache architecture,in which one tier is used for LOB attributes and the other for frequent queries.Solutions of the Cache consistency problems are also introduced.System performance is greatly improved by this Cache architecture.

Abstract:ONet-an object database management system based on ODMG 3.0 standard,implements the part of C++ binding.The basic architecture of ONet client side is introduced,the defects of binding flow with static object schema are analysed.An idea of design based on dynamic object component is offered and the particular description is made for improving and reconstructing the client architecture with interface programming and callback mechanism among the components.Therefore,object schema is loaded dynamically in ONet system.

Abstract:Flexible and performant Persistency Service is a necessary component of any HEP Software Framework. The building of a modular, non-intrusive and performant persistency component have been shown to be very difficult task. In the past, it was very often necessary to sacrifice modularity to achieve acceptable performance. This resulted in the strong dependency of the overall Frameworks on their Persistency subsystems. Recent development in software technology has made possible to build a Persistency Service which can be transparently used from other Frameworks. Such Service doesn't force a strong architectural constraints on the overall Framework Architecture, while satisfying high performance requirements. Java Data Object standard (JDO) has been already implemented for almost all major databases. It provides truly transparent persistency for any Java object (both internal and external). Objects in other languages can be handled via transparent proxies. Being only a thin layer on top of a used database, JDO doesn't introduce any significant performance degradation. Also Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) makes possible to treat persistency as an orthogonal Aspect of the Application Framework, without polluting it with persistence-specific concepts. All these techniques have been developed primarily (or only) for the Java environment. It is, however, possible to interface them transparently to Frameworks built in other languages, like for example C++. Fully functional prototypes of flexible and non-intrusive persistency modules have been build for several other packages, as for example FreeHEP AIDA and LCG Pool AttributeSet (package Indicium).

Abstract:This paper presents a practical concurrency control mechanism — Object-Locking in OODBMS. Object-Locking can schedule transactions, each of them can be considered as a sequence of high level operations defined on classes. By the properties of parallelity and commutativity between high level operations, proper lock modes for each operation are designed and the compatibility matrix is constructed. With these lock modes, phantoms are kept away from databases and a high degree of concurrency is achieved.

Abstract:Language-based information flow security proper- ties such as noninterference ensure confidential data cannot interfere with public data. But in real comput- ing systems sensitive information sometimes needs to be released or to become more confidential. In this paper, we propose a new security property including support for both information release and erasure. Since the property is in the style of strong bisimulation equivalence, it is applicable to multi-threaded pro- grams. To ensure that declassification cannot be ex- ploited to reveal more secret data than intended, our property addresses what information may be released. Moreover, the property guarantees that dynamic up- grading the security label of data due to erasure re- quirement cannot affect the publicly visible behavior.

Abstract:Object/Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks can automatically maintain the mapping between object attributes and relational database tables, greatly simplifying the data storage problems when developing an object-oriented system. However, existing ORM frameworks need the application codes explicitly call the persistence interface, which means that there will be many persistence codes scattered over and tangled with the business code. It not only makes the program structure unclear, more importantly, but also leads to the lack of dynamic adaptability for ever-changing persistence requirements. Based on existing popular persistence frameworks, this paper presents an implicit persistence framework of ORM, called Persistence on Demand (POD). First of all, POD makes persistence implicit, i.e., there is no code related to persistence in the application while an object can become persistent by defining a persistence strategy. Based on the implicit persistence, POD makes the persistence runtime adaptable by dynamically re-configuring the persistence strategy.

Abstract:The existence of objects may transcend time and space. Around this property of objects, we present an approach to developing the user interface for control system. In this approach, a user interface is made up of a group of objects. The functions of the user interface are fulfilled by these objects. The objects in a user interface are created in the design phase. Once created, these objects can continue to exist and may move from memory to disk. When needed in use phase, they, as the elements of a user interface, can be loaded from disk and take part in system control.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors present the design and implementation of an Interoperable Object Platform for Multi-Databases (IOPMD). The aim of the system is to provide a uniform object view and a set of tools for object manipulation and query based on heterogeneous multiple data sources under client/server environment. The common object model is compatible with ODMG2.0 and OMG’s CORBA, which provides main OO features such as OID, attribute, method, inheritance, reference, etc. Three types of interfaces, namely Vface, IOQL and C++API, are given to provide the database programmer with tools and functionalities for application development. Nested transactions and compensating technology are adopted in transaction manager. In discussing some key implementation techniques, translation and mapping approaches from various schemata to a common object schema are proposed. Buffer management provides the data caching policy and consistency maintenance of cached data. Version management presents some operations based on the definitions in semantic version model, and introduces the implementation of the semantic version graph.

Abstract:This paper proposes an exception handling mechanism for developing reliable object-oriented systems based on analyzing some problems encountered in the C++ programming language. The exceptions are organized into a knowledge sharing inheritance hierarchy and the handlers can be defined within exception classes. This enables the information to be hidden. The separation between the normal codes and the exception handling codes makes the program neat and maintainable. It supports both the termination and the retry model. Binding the exception to the object responsible for its raise can solve the issue of matching the handler relying on only the exception type.

Abstract:This paper introduces a replication method for object-oriented data storage that is highly flexible to fit different applications to improve availability. In view of semantics of different applications, this method defines three data-consistency criteria and then developers are able to select the most appropriate criteria for their programs through storage APIs. One criterion realizes a quasi-linearizability consistency, which will cause non-linearizability in a low probability but may not impair the semantic of applications. Another is a weaker one that can be used by many Internet services to provide more read throughput, and the third implements a stronger consistency to fulfill strict linearizability. In addition, they all accord with one single algorithm frame and are different from each other in a few details. Compared with conventional application-specific replication methods, this method has higher flexibility.

Abstract:Given the status of XML as a standard for storing and exchanging data in Internet and the Growing interest in XML security, various access control schemes have been proposed recently. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to realize the access control. In this approach, we realize the function of access control by several classes, which construct an object with some parameter when a user accesses a XML document with his (or her) authorization. Abstract:This paper presents a concurrent object-oriented modeling language based on Petri nets: OMNets, which helps greatly to avoid the inheritance anomaly problem appeared in concurrent OO languages.
