Abstract:In this paper, we show that the belief and plausibility measures defined on finite level fuzzy subset space are the lower and upper probabilities, respectively, of probability measures compatible with the fuzzy Dempster-Shafer (D-S) belief structure. We first introduce a probability measure which is additive on finite-level fuzzy sets space and show that the belief and plausibility measures determined by the fuzzy D-S belief structure are upper-additive and sub-additive, respectively. And then we discuss an objective function whose solutions correspond to a class of probability measures compatible with the fuzzy D-S belief structure. Lastly, a specific probability measure compatible with the fuzzy D-S belief structure is presented.

Abstract:This article mainly investigates Z-extended overlap functions and grouping functions on fuzzy truth values. First, we introduce Z-extended overlap functions and grouping functions. Then, we present some properties of the Z-extended overlap functions and grouping functions, and use these properties to show the representations of the Z-extended overlap functions and grouping functions. Finally, we give the conditions under which the distributive laws between the Z-extended overlap functions and grouping functions are true.

Abstract:Soft set theory serves as a mathematical framework for handling uncertain information, and hesitant fuzzy sets find extensive application in scenarios involving uncertainty and hesitation. Hesitant fuzzy sets exhibit diverse membership degrees, giving rise to various forms of inclusion relationships among them. This article introduces the notions of hesitant fuzzy soft $\beta$-coverings and hesitant fuzzy soft $\beta$-neighborhoods, which are formulated based on distinct forms of inclusion relationships among hesitancy fuzzy sets. Subsequently, several associated properties are investigated. Additionally, specific variations of hesitant fuzzy soft $\beta$-coverings are introduced by incorporating hesitant fuzzy rough sets, followed by an exploration of properties pertaining to hesitant fuzzy soft $\beta$-covering approximation spaces.

Abstract:This paper further studies the fuzzy rough sets based on fuzzy coverings. We first present the notions of the lower and upper approximation operators based on fuzzy coverings and derive their basic properties. To facilitate the computation of fuzzy coverings for fuzzy covering rough sets, the concepts of fuzzy subcoverings, the reducible and intersectional elements, the union and intersection operations are provided and their properties are discussed in detail. Afterwards, we introduce the concepts of consistent functions and fuzzy covering mappings and provide a basic theoretical foundation for the communication between fuzzy covering information systems. In addition, the notion of homomorphisms is proposed to reveal the relationship between fuzzy covering information systems. We show how large-scale fuzzy covering information systems and dynamic fuzzy covering information systems can be converted into small-scale ones by means of homomorphisms. Finally, an illustrative example is employed to show that the attribute reduction can be simplified significantly by our proposed approach.

Abstract:The goal of this work is to introduce and study fuzzy limits of functions. Two approaches to fuzzy limits of a function are considered. One is based on the concept of a fuzzy limit of a sequence, while another generalizes the conventional epsilon-delta definition. It is demonstrated that these constructions are equivalent. Different properties of fuzzy limits of functions are found. Properties of conventional limits are easily deduced from properties of fuzzy limits. In the second part of this work, the concept of fuzzy limits of a function is extended to provide means to define nontrivial continuity of functions on discrete sets. In addition, fuzzy limits of functions are introduced and studied.

Abstract:Theories of random sets and fuzzy random sets are useful concepts which are frequently applied in scientific areas including information science, probability and statistics. In this paper strong limit theorems are derived for random sets and fuzzy random sets with slowly varying weights in separable Banach spaces. Both independent and dependent cases are covered to provide a wide range of applications.

Abstract:The present paper comes across the main steps that laid from Zadeh's fuzziness ana Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy sets to Smarandache's indeterminacy and to Molodstov's soft sets. Two hybrid methods for assessment and decision making respectively under fuzzy conditions are also presented through suitable examples that use soft sets and real intervals as tools. The decision making method improves an earlier method of Maji et al. Further, it is described how the concept of topological space, the most general category of mathematical spaces, can be extended to fuzzy structures and how to generalize the fundamental mathematical concepts of limit, continuity compactness and Hausdorff space within such kind of structures. In particular, fuzzy and soft topological spaces are defined and examples are given to illustrate these generalizations.

Abstract:In this article different aspects of the decision table formalism are discussed. First, crisp decision tables are defined and their construction is described. Next, fuzzy extensions are made to crisp decision tables in order to deal with imprecision and uncertainty. As a result, with crisp decision tables as special cases, a form of fuzzy decision tables is defined which include fuzziness in the conditions as well as in the actions. Consequently, the concept of completeness is introduced in the context of fuzzy decision tables. Furthermore, fuzzy consultation of decision tables is discussed, which allows decision making with fuzziness based on the matching between fuzzy conditions and the concept of fuzzy logical implication. Abstract:We consider fuzzy valued functions from two parametric representations of $\alpha$-level sets. New concepts are introduced and compared with available notions. Following the two proposed approaches, we study fuzzy differential equations. Their relation with Zadeh's extension principle and the generalized Hukuhara derivative is discussed. Moreover, we prove existence and uniqueness theorems for fuzzy differential equations. Illustrative examples are given.

Abstract:The Z-number deserves further exploration in uncertain environments to effectively address fuzziness and reliability in practical issues simultaneously. Based on the credibility distribution and conversion rules, we define its expected value, variance, and semi-variance, and demonstrate the feasibility of these calculations by deriving formulas. Moreover, we explore three characteristics inherent in symmetrical Z-numbers. The link between the variance and semi-variance of Z-numbers is discovered and proved. Furthermore, we apply the formulas for expected value and variance to Z-numbers in examples, the results of which validate our proposed formulas. The findings underscore the significance of our study in applying the expected value and variance of fuzzy sets across diverse fields.

Abstract:An orthogonal approach to the fuzzification of both multisets and hybrid sets is presented. In particular, we introduce L-multi-fuzzy and L-fuzzy hybrid sets, which are general enough and in spirit with the basic concepts of fuzzy set theory. In addition, we study the properties of these structures. Also, the usefulness of these structures is examined in the framework of mechanical multiset processing. More specifically, we introduce a variant of fuzzy P systems and, since simple fuzzy membrane systems have been introduced elsewhere, we simply extend previously stated results and ideas.
