Abstract:Kelvin's model is widely used to simulate the dynamic characteristic of a resilient mat under a slab track. To develop an effective calculation model for a resilient mat using a solid element, a three-parameter viscoelasticity model (3PVM) was employed. With the help of the user-defined material mechanical behavior, the proposed model was implemented in software ABAQUS. To validate the model, a laboratory test was performed on a slab track with a resilient mat. Then, a finite element model of the track-tunnel-soil system was built. The calculation results using the 3PVM was compared with those using Kelvin's model and the test results. The results indicate that the 3PVM can better reflect the dynamic characteristics of resilient mat than Kelvin's model, especially over 10 Hz. Compared with the test results, the 3PVM has an average error of 2.7 dB and a max error of 7.9 dB at 5 Hz.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem this paper attempts to address is: how to more accurately simulate the dynamic characteristics of the elastic layer in Floating Slab Track (FST). Specifically, the paper proposes a method based on the Three-Parameter Viscoelastic Model (3PVM) to replace the traditional Kelvin model, thereby better reflecting the dynamic behavior of the elastic layer at high frequencies. ### Background With the development of urban rail transit, the issue of vibrations caused by trains in tunnels and buildings has increasingly drawn attention. These environmental issues may affect nearby residents, the long-term preservation of historical buildings, and the operation of precision instruments. To control the vibrations caused by trains, various vibration reduction measures can be taken, among which Floating Slab Track (FST) has proven to be one of the most effective solutions. FST effectively reduces vibrations by installing springs or elastic layers under the track slab, forming a mass-spring system. ### Existing Problems Although the Kelvin model is widely used to simulate the dynamic characteristics of steel springs, it is difficult to accurately simulate the vibration characteristics of the elastic layer using the Kelvin model due to its special viscoelastic properties. Therefore, the paper proposes a new method, using the Three-Parameter Viscoelastic Model (3PVM) to simulate the dynamic characteristics of the elastic layer. ### Solution 1. **Model Development**: The paper proposes a modeling method based on 3PVM and implements this model in ABAQUS software through user-defined material mechanical behavior. 2. **Experimental Validation**: Dynamic tests of the floating slab track were conducted in the laboratory to verify the accuracy of the model. 3. **Results Comparison**: The calculation results of the 3PVM model were compared with those of the Kelvin model and experimental results. The results show that the 3PVM model can better reflect the dynamic characteristics of the elastic layer at high frequencies. ### Main Conclusions - The 3PVM model can more accurately simulate the dynamic characteristics of the elastic layer in the frequency range above 10 Hz compared to the Kelvin model. - Compared with experimental results, the average error of the 3PVM model at 5 Hz is 2.7 dB, and the maximum error is 7.9 dB. Through this research, the paper provides a new method for the accurate modeling of the elastic layer in Floating Slab Track, which helps to further optimize the vibration reduction effect of rail transit systems.
