Abstract:In this paper, we present a new generalization of the Lucas numbers by matrix representation using Genaralized Lucas Polynomials. We give some properties of this new generalization and some relations between the generalized order-k Lucas numbers and generalized order-k Fibonacci numbers. In addition, we obtain Binet formula and combinatorial representation for generalized order-k Lucas numbers by using properties of generalized Fibonacci numbers.

Abstract:Journal of Algebra and Its Applications, Ahead of Print. In this paper, we introduce and study a spinor algebra of [math]-balancing numbers referred to as the [math]-balancing and [math]-Lucas-balancing spinors. First, we give [math]-balancing quaternions and their some algebraic properties. Then we introduce a spinor family of [math]-balancing numbers by defining a linear and injective correspondence between [math]-balancing and [math]-Lucas-balancing quaternions to spinors. Here, we give various algebraic properties of this spinor such as the Binet form, Catalan's identity, d'Ocagne identity, generating and exponential generating functions. Moreover, we obtain various partial sum formulae for these sequences in closed form and also give matrix representations.

Abstract:Positive integers with all digits equal are called repdigits. In this paper, we find all balancing and Lucas-balancing numbers, which can be expressed as the difference of two repdigits. The method of proof involves the application of Baker's theory for linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers and the Baker-Davenport reduction procedure.

Abstract:We consider the Markoff-Rosenberger equation $$ax^2+by^2+cz^2=dxyz$$ with $(x,y,z)=(U_i,U_j,U_k),$ where $U_i$ denotes the $i$-th generalized Lucas number of first/second kind. We provide upper bound for the minimum of the indices and we apply the result to completely resolve concrete equations, e.g. we determine solutions containing only balancing numbers and Jacobsthal numbers, respectively.

Abstract:This study introduces two new sequences: the incomplete Edouard and the incomplete Edouard–Lucas numbers. In addition, we establish some of the properties, identities, and recurrence relations of these sequences. The relations of these new sequences with balancing, Lucas-balancing, incomplete balancing, and incomplete Lucas-balancing numbers are explored, and some new identities are provided. Moreover, the functions for generating the incomplete Edouard and incomplete Edouard–Lucas numbers are stated.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce a particular class of matrices. We study the concept of a matrix to be balanced. We study some properties of this concept in the context of matrix operations. We examine the behaviour of various matrix statistics in this setting. The crux will be to understanding the determinants and the eigen-values of balanced matrices. It turns out that there does exist a direct communication among the leading entry, the trace, determinants and, hence, the eigen-values of these matrices of order $2\times 2$. These matrices have an interesting property that enables us to predict their quadratic forms, even without knowing their entries but given their spectrum.

Abstract:Quaternions and split quaternions are used in quantum physics, computer science, and in many areas of mathematics. In this paper, we define and study two new classes of split quaternions, namely balancing split quaternions and Lucas-balancing split quaternions. Moreover, well-known properties, e.g., Catalan, d'Ocagne, and Vajda identities, for these quaternions are also presented. We give matrix generators for balancing split quaternions and Lucas-balancing split quaternions, too.

Abstract:In \cite{Oz}, M. Özdemir defined a new non-commutative number system called hybrid numbers. In this paper, we define the hybrid Fibonacci and Lucas numbers. This number system can be accepted as a generalization of the complex ($\textbf{i}^{2}=-1$), hyperbolic ($\textbf{h}^{2}=1$) and dual Fibonacci number ($\varepsilon^{2}=0$) systems. Furthermore, a hybrid Fibonacci number is a number created with any combination of the complex, hyperbolic and dual numbers satisfying the relation $\textbf{ih}=-\textbf{hi}=\varepsilon+\textbf{i}$. Then we used the Binet's formula to show some properties of the hybrid Fibonacci numbers. We get some generalized identities of the hybrid Fibonacci and hybrid Lucas numbers.

Abstract:Repdigits are natural numbers formed by the repetition of a single digit. In this paper, we study the problem of writing repdigits as the difference of two balancing or Lucas-balancing numbers. The method of proof involves the application of Baker's theory for linear forms in logarithms of algebraic numbers and the Baker-Davenport reduction procedure. Computations are done with the help of a simple computer program in {\it Mathematica}.

Abstract:In 2016, Edgar and, independently of him, Bhatnagar sta\-ted a nice polynomial identity that connects Fibonacci and Lucas numbers. Shortly after their publications, this identity has been generalized in two different ways: Dafnis, Phillipou and Livieris provided a generalization to Fibonacci sequences of order $k$ and Abd-Elhameed and Zeyada extended Edgar--Bhatnagar identity to generalized Fibonacci and Lucas sequences. In this paper, we present more polynomial identities for generalized Lucas sequences. We discuss interesting aspects and special cases which have not been stated before but deserve recognition. Finally, we prove the polynomial analogues of these identities for Chebyshev polynomials.

In this paper, we give some explicit expressions of $\sum_{l=0}^{2 r-3}(-1)^l\binom{2 r-3}{l}\sum_{j_1+\cdots+j_r=n-2 l\atop j_1,\dots,j_r\ge 1}B_{j_1}\cdots B_{j_r}$ and $\sum_{j_1+\cdots+j_r=n\atop j_1,\dots,j_r\ge 1}B_{j_1}\cdots B_{j_r}$. We also consider the convolution identities with binomial coefficients: $$ \sum_{k_1+\cdots+k_r=n\atop k_1,\dots,k_r\ge 1}\binom{n}{k_1,\dots,k_r}B_{k_1}\cdots B_{k_r} $$ This type can be generalized, so that $B_n$ is a special case of the number $u_n$, where $u_n=a u_{n-1}+b u_{n-2}$ ($n\ge 2$) with $u_0=0$ and $u_1=1$.

Abstract:We give elementary proofs of some congruence criteria to compute binomial coefficients in modulo a prime. These criteria are analogues to the symmetry property of binomial coefficients. We give extended version of Lucas Theorem by using those criteria. We give applications of these criteria by describing a method to derive identities and congruences involving sums of binomial coefficients.
