Abstract:Effective disaster risk reduction and preparedness are imperative components of modern military healthcare systems. This study endeavors to enhance these facets by developing a "Comprehensive Competency Framework for Military Physicians in Disaster Risk Reduction and Preparedness." Through a systematic approach, the Delphi technique was employed, engaging a diverse panel of experts to achieve consensus on the competencies necessary for military physicians to effectively respond to disasters. The resulting framework, organized into distinct criteria and indicators, offers a roadmap for educational programs, training curricula, and readiness assessments. The study's methodology underscores its robustness, while the tiered structure of the framework ensures granularity and specificity. Moreover, the study's findings highlight the fluid nature of competencies in disaster medicine, underscoring the need for ongoing training and adaptation. As the research horizon expands, promising avenues include exploring long-term competency retention, integrating emerging technologies, and investigating cross-cultural considerations in disaster responses. Ultimately, this study advances disaster preparedness within military healthcare, equipping military physicians with a versatile toolkit to effectively navigate the complexities of disaster scenarios.
