Abstract:Dazougu,a traditional folk dance,is widely spread at Ruoshan fishing village,Shitang town,Wenlin city in Zhejaing province.In 1990s,it was included in Collection of Chinese Folk Dance,and was selected in the second list of national intangible cultural heritage.Dancing wildly and humorously while playing on the drums,all the performers are men dressed like women: crescent-shaped hairpins on the heads,huge earrings from the ears,and bangles around the bare feet.Dazuogo dance is rare art in Han nationality with unique regional characteristics.This paper explores: 1.the history and status quo of Dazougu;2.the artistic features of Dazougu;3.the folk significance of Dazougu.

Abstract:Miao martial arts drum dancing, combining sports with art, shows the two features wiht national characters and artistry. This paper, using the field investigation method, literature method and so on, the history origin, main forms, inheriting way, main characteristics and survival status of Miao martial arts drum dancing are studied. The results showed: Miao martial arts drum dancing has such values as fitness value, art and social culture value and so on. At the same time, modern diversified forms of entertainment have some impact on martial arts drum. The phenomenon embodies : Local people do not pay much attention to Miao martial arts drum dancing; Cultural heritage protection consciousness is not strong; Inheritance people are very old; Cultural quality is generally not high; The local economic level is relatively backward, which restricts the extensive development of martial arts drum, and so on.

Abstract:Long-sleeved dance is one of the most representative forms of artistic expression in ancient China. It developed in the pre-Qin, Han and Tang dynasties. Researchers can clear the traces of ancient long-sleeved dance through many historical books and unearthed cultural relics. This paper mainly focuses on the development history of long-sleeved dance in the Han and Tang dynasties and discusses the external form and expressive elements of it with purpose of playing some role in better appreciation of the artistic value of Chinese classical dance and dance in the future.

Abstract:The Flower-drum-lantern is a popular civilian musical art made up of dance and music in the Anhui province which is near the Hui river of China. It is representing the common culture which is performed in the court of Han tribe, because of the various contents, well-organized structure, and the old history. For the reason that over seventy percent of the Chinese population are farmers, knowing the farmers’ empathy will be a crucial part of understanding the Chinese culture, especially the court art. The historical research of the Flower-drum-lantern is inevitable to widening the view of the Chinese culture. In the ancient time, civilian musical art made up of dance and music was used in a religious traditional ceremony, or to elevate the effect of the hard labor. As the time passed, the Flower-drum-lantern showed development in business and entertainment areas. It is so often performed at Lantern Festival, Temple Festival, court, or in the theatre. Looking at the geographic features of Anhui province can tell that it was easy to be influenced by other cultures. It is uncertain when the Flower-drum-lantern appeared in the rural community, the records of historic events proves that a similar musical art to the Flower-drum-lantern was performed in the Song Dynasty. The mixed music art “Ta-ge” and “Yang-ge”, which was transmitted to China from the northern tribe, were performed in a festival. Other than this, there is the “Ta-yao-lang” which is a comedy mixed with dance and music, and “He-sheng”. a mixed music art, what was performed in a palace. All of these arts were enjoyed by civilians of rural society in the Sui or Tang dynasty. Confirming these facts, through the course of these progress, the Flower-drum-lantern was completed in Song Dynasty. At Qing Dynasty, the Flower-drum-lantern met the time that the comedy was added to it.

Abstract:This paper studies Wushu culture of southwest pictorial stone/brick of han dynasty using the methods of literature material method, field investigation method and related knowledge such as discipline of ethnology, cultural geography, history cultural geography and so on. The study finds that: In Han dynasty, with the augmentation of the exploitation of the unified empire, the martial arts culture of southwest went through the development course of an increasing prosperity, the various aspects such as the generalization, a standard, the diversity of Wushu culture and so on have gained unprecedented development. The regional cultural phenomenon presented that Chinese martial arts culture acted as the main body, martial arts culture of ethnic minorities was complementary. The closure of the geographical environment and the increasing scale of migration, the improve traffic conditions, made southwest Wushu culture have the characteristics of closure and open; The increasing of the military war promoted the development of martial arts; The diversity of ethnic groups promoted the diversity of Wushu culture; Influenced by religious consciousness, Wushu culture appeared rich WuHua and indigenous color. Short weapons were used universally, especially the crossbow developed greatly. The study aims to better research southwest sports culture of Han dynasty, and to provide reference for southwest sports culture construction.In Southwest China, there are many kinds and forms of pictorial carved stones with wide distribution and mass varieties. They have been found in the east of Sichuan province, city of Chongqing, Yi autonomous prefecture of Liangshan in southwest Sichuan, north of Guizhou province as well as Chaotung of Yunnan province, within which there is a large amount in the middle west of Sichuan Basin, the central area of Bashu area of Han dynasty, and those pictorial stones in the middle and late period of Eastern Han dynasty are the most popular. Usually the contents of carved stones are about field hunting and shooting, music and dance, and animals and beasts and so on, which reflects the colorful and prosperous martial art in Han dynasty.

Abstract:Originating from the heart of Shanxi, China, Jin opera, known as "Zhong Lu Bang Zi," manifests as a regional opera that has assimilated the melodious songs and rhythmic tunes of the Shanxi populace and the central region. Consequently, it has matured into a distinctive genre of operatic performance. Correspondingly, the traditional costumes worn by the characters in Jin opera have evolved in unison with the development of Chinese opera, ultimately giving rise to a distinguished system of attire during the illustrious Chinese Ming Dynasty the traditional costume designs within Jin opera intricately reflect a distinct structure, resplendent with a vibrant palette and ornate patterns, seamlessly carrying forth the quintessential features intrinsic to ancient Chinese opera costumes. To illuminate this subject matter, this research endeavors to adopt a qualitative research methodology, meticulously analyzing the myriad styles, colors, and fabrics employed in Jin opera costumes. Moreover, it diligently categorizes and delves into the inherent characteristics embodied by these costumes duringJin opera performances. By employing poignant examples as illustrative evidence, this study succinctly encapsulates the artistic attributes that hallmark Jin opera costumes. Furthermore, it expounds upon the present state of research pertaining to Jin opera costumes, while concurrently furnishing theoretical frameworks to guide their sustainable development.

Abstract:Zhejiang folk songs, as a gem within the realm of traditional Chinese musical culture, boast a rich array of artistic styles and distinctive vocal techniques. Their origins can be traced back to various facets of rural life, including agricultural labor, festive rituals, and folk activities, reflecting the diverse customs and cultural heritage of different regions within Zhejiang. Situated on the southeastern coast, the harmonious natural environment of Zhejiang has given rise to a variety of folk song forms, ranging from mountain ballads to farm songs and fishing tunes, each showcasing its own unique charm. Particularly, the refined and understated essence of Jiangnan culture endows Zhejiang folk songs with a poetic and delicate expression in melody and lyrics, culminating in a distinctive artistic style. The dissemination of Zhejiang folk songs is not confined to specific regions; as times change and society evolves, they have gradually integrated into contemporary art realms, becoming an essential part of national and local cultural heritage. Today, amid the diversification of popular culture, Zhejiang folk songs face the challenges of modernization and the struggle of preservation. Abstract:"Nan Huan Nü Xi" is a representative traditional folk dance in Yixing, which also holds significant importance in Nuo ritual ceremonies. Through centuries of evolution and inheritance, it has developed into an aesthetic manifestation that combines historical culture with modern trends, with its performance costumes being particularly representative. This paper aims to analyze and summarize the expressive costumes, artistic features, and inherent folk culture of the current inheritance of "Nan Huan Nü Xi," delving into its geographical attributes, social background, and religious beliefs. The research demonstrates that while preserving the core elements of inheritance, the costumes of "Nan Huan Nü Xi" in Yixing constantly adjust themselves to the aesthetic tendencies of the era, reflecting the profound historical significance and vitality of folk dance represented by "Nan Huan Nü Xi," as well as the transition of traditional folk art from being "god-centered" to being "human-centered."

Abstract:The article is devoted to the yangge dance, which is a part of the ritual procession during the New Year celebration according to the lunar calendar. The history of its origin in antiquity and special agricultural dominants of the ritual are shown. An overview of sources that take into account the Gansu tradition is given, unexplored aspects are identi ed, including the peculiarities of Qingcheng yangge, its musical side. The close connection with the rituals and attributes of shamanism is emphasised through two comic characters, improvising in communication with the audience. The author of the article considers the features of the choreography of Qingcheng yangge, which relate it to the martial arts and dance culture of Gansu and China, the instrumental composition of the accompaniment, in which percussion and wind instruments predominate, rhythm with a polyphonic combination of even and dotted beats, a modal system built on the principle of adding small three-four note modes into complex ones. It is concluded that there are four functions of the ritual - magical, practical, educational and aesthetic ones, and that this type has great historical value, since it makes it possible to adapt to life’s di culties and high social demands.

Abstract:The article analyses the traditions of the Chinese ethnic group Miao, which are an integral part of its intangible heritage. The music and dance of the Miao peoples are synthetic. Their unity is confi rmed already at the stage of preparation for performance — the choice of musical instruments that both perform an accompanying function that sets the style, rhythm, melody, agogics, and serve as necessary accessories of dancing performers themselves, who also have the skills to play these instruments.

Abstract:This presentation introduces the speaker’s ethnomusicological research on the Dunhuang Mural Music and Dance, a multifaceted genre of music, dance, and dramatic performances that was created in the twentieth century and based primarily on images and gestures from the artifacts excavated from the Mogao Caves, one of the UNESCO world heritage sites in Dunhuang, China’s northwestern Gansu Province. The speaker has been conducting multisite fieldwork on the performative images in the Dunhuang arts since 2002. Represented through the performative images in the Dunhuang Mogao wall paintings were dancers and musicians with characteristics of non-Han ethnicities entertaining foreign gods of Buddhism, transmitted from India along the Silk Road. The 492 caves at the Mogao cliff near the modern town of Dunhuang have served as temples, sites for performative events, and an archive that consisted of medieval Chinese paintings and Buddhist sutras. These materials embody a history of negotiation and contestation between monolithic and pluralistic value systems in China. As a number of scholars have demonstrated, choreographers often utilize historical imageries in their performances to construct connections between the past and the present. The sources of Dunhuang Mural Music and Dance consist mainly of images, narratives, and musical tunes depicted in the historical wall paintings and/or documents discovered in the Mogao Caves. The creators of the genre tend to draw primarily from the artistic creations of the Sui and Tang dynasties. Primary research questions include: what stylistic choices do choreographers make and why? Which images among the archaeological materials from the past that they choose, according to specific aesthetic principles or laws, in the process of staging? The speaker addresses these questions by investigating the processes through which images and staged embodiment bring diverse historical, cultural, and religious elements into one performance genre.
