Abstract:Background: The relationship between tumour size and metastasis rate is poorly recognized in patients with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PNETs). The impact of tumour size on prognosis was controversial in previous investigations. Methods: PNETs cases diagnosed from 1988 to 2013 were retrieved from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Clinicopathologic features were retrospectively analyzed. Survival was calculated by the Kaplan-Meier method. Multivariable Cox regression models with hazard ratios (HRs) were constructed to analyze survival outcomes and risk factors. Cubic spline analysis was used to assess relationship between tumor size and probability of metastasis. Results: A total of 5424 patients were identified, 1226 (22.6%) with tumour size of 20mm or less. The probability of metastasis increased in a non-linear fashion with increasing tumour size. Univariate analysis showed that tumour size was significantly correlated with survival (P<0.001), no matter surgery was performed or not. However, subgroup analysis suggested this association to be linear for patients with localized and regional tumours (P<0.001), but stochastic in patients with distant stages (P=0.703). On multivariate analysis, tumour size was an indicator for metastasis (HR=1.010, 95%CI: 1.008-1.013, P<0.001) and size <= 20mm was an independent prognostic factor for good survival. For tumours <= 20mm, surgical treatment was associated with significantly improved survival (P<0.001). Conclusions: Tumour size affects the probability of metastasis. Its prognostic impact on survival is restricted to patients with localized and regional disease. For patients with tumour size <= 20mm, surgical treatment should be considered preferably.

Abstract:Background: The impact of tumor size on the survival and chemotherapy reponse of early-stage colon cancer remains unclear. Our study explored the effect of tumor size on overall survival (OS) and postoperative chemotherapy efficacy in patients with stage I/II colon cancer. Methods: Stage I/II colon cancer patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database and a China center were extracted as two cohorts respectively. X-tile program was adopted to acquire optimal cutoff points of tumor size (16mm and 49mm). Harrell's concordance index (c-index) and time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) were used to indicate discrimination ability of prognostic factors. Results: Overall, 104,908 and 168 stage I/II postoperative colon cancer patients from SEER database and a China center were eligible, respectively. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that large tumor size was associated with poor OS in two cohorts. The effect of tumor size on OS gradually decreased as the T stage increased both before PSM (c-index 0.535 for T1N0M0 and 0.506 for T4N0M0, p<0.05) and after PSM (c-index 0.543 for T1N0M0, p<0.05; c-index 0.543 for T4N0M0, p>0.05). Stratified analyses showed that chemotherapy improved the OS rate by 9.5% (chemotherapy vs. non-chemotherapy: 83.5% vs. 73.0%) or 12.8% (chemotherapy vs. non-chemotherapy: 85.7% vs. 72.9%) before and after PSM in T2N0M0 patients with tumor size >49 mm, but not in T1N0M0. The survival benefit provided by chemotherapy for T2N0M0 patients with large tumor was also validated in the Chinese cohort. Conclusions: Large tumor size was a risk factor for stage I/II colon cancer, especially for T1N0M0. Tumor size could serve as a complementary factor guiding postoperative chemotherapy for T2N0M0 patients.

Abstract:Tumor size has an effect on decision making for the treatment rectal cancer. Transanal local excision can be selected to remove rectal cancer with favorable histopathological features. It is generally recognized that the risk of lymph node involvement and distant metastases increases as the tumor enlarges. However, the majority of the studies classified patients into two groups using concrete value as a cutoff point. The coarse classification was not sufficient to reveal a correlation between the tumor size and lymph node status or distant metastases across the full range of sizes examined. Between 1988 and 2015, a total of 77,746 patients were diagnosed with first primary rectal cancer who had not received neoadjuvant therapy. These subjects were identified using the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database. The association between tumor size, lymph node status, distant metastases and cancer-specific mortality was investigated. Tumor size was examined as a continuous (1-30 mm) and categorical variable (11 size groups; 10-mm intervals). A non-linear correlation between increasing tumor size and the prevalence of lymph node involvement was observed, while a near-positive correlation between tumor size and distant metastases was presented. In addition, the 5-year and 10-year rates of rectal cancer-specific mortality were increased as the tumor enlarged. For small tumors (under 30 mm), a positive correlation was noted between tumor size and lymph node involvement. The clinical value of the tumor size should be reevaluated by exact classification.
The Critical Role of Tumor Size in Predicting Prognosis for T1 Colon Cancer.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:The role of horizontal growth index of tumor size in survival prediction is still underappreciated in colon cancer because of the identification of vertical infiltration index reflected by T stage. We sought to reveal the impact of T stage on the prognostic and predictive value of tumor size in colon cancer.MATERIALS AND METHODS:Data of patients with stage I-III colon cancer were extracted from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) and Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center (FUSCC) databases. Harrell's concordance index (c-index) and time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) were used to analyze the discriminative ability of prognostic factors.RESULTS:Stratified analyses based on T stage found that the increase of T stage significantly and negatively repressed the effect of tumor size on death and recurrence risk. In addition, tumor size showed the greatest hazard ratio of cancer-specific death and relapse in T1 colon cancer. Even more importantly, the discriminatory ability of tumor size outperformed any other widely accepted prognostic clinical features in predicting cancer-specific survival (SEER: c-index 0.637, area under the ROC [AUC] 0.649; FUSCC: c-index 0.673, AUC 0.686) and disease-free survival (FUSCC: c-index 0.645, AUC 0.656) in T1 stage colon cancer.CONCLUSION:Tumor size is a critical clinical factor with considerable prognostic and predictive value for T1 colon cancer, and it should be selectively incorporated into the current staging system to facilitate prediction of death and recurrence risk.IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE:To date, no consensus has been reached about the prognostic and predictive value of tumor size in colon cancer. Although tumor size is an independent prognostic factor for patients with colon cancer, the impact of tumor size on death or recurrence risk decreased notably with the increase of T stage. More importantly, the discriminative ability of tumor size outperformed any other clinical factors including N stage in patients with T1 colon cancer. Therefore, tumor size should be recommended to be incorporated into current staging systems to facilitate prognosis prediction for patients with T1 colon cancer.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the impact of tumor size on the prognosis of patients with colon cancer.Methods The clinicopathologic factors of 345 cases who underwent curative surgery for colon cancer from January 2004 to June 2008 in the Peking University Cancer Hospital were analyzed retrospectively.The optimal cut-off value was determined by receiver-operator characteristic (ROC)analysis.Results The overall 3-year survival rate was 85.1％.The optimal cut-off value was found to be 5.0 cm.The survival rate of patients with tumor size ≥5 em and tumor size ＜5 cm was 79.5％ and 90.5％respectively,and the difference was statistically significant (P=0.005).Multivariate analysis showed that preoperative CEA level(P=0.004),tumor size (P=0.020),regional lymph node metastasis (P=0.000),and lymphovascular invasion (P=0.002) were independent prognostic factors.Tumor size was significantly associated with overall survival in univariate and multivariate analyses in stage Ⅲ disease (P=0.011),but not in stage Ⅱdisease(P=0.827)using 5 cm as a cut-off.Conclusions Tumor size of 5 cm is an independent prognostic parameter for patients with stage Ⅲ colon cancer but not for stage Ⅱ.Determination of the association between tumor size and survival should be base on TNM staging.

Abstract:Aim: To evaluate the relationship between tumor size and survival in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients who received chemotherapy. Materials & methods: SEER database was accessed for eligible patients. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was performed to compare the effect of tumor size on overall survival (OS) and CRC-specific survival (CCSS). Results: Tumor size >= 5cm was an independent risk factor for OS and CCSS in mCRC patients treated with chemotherapy. Tumor size <5cm did not show a survival advantage in patients whose primary tumor site was rectosigmoid junction, while tumor size >= 5cm was associated with poor OS and CCSS in left-and right-sided colorectal cancer. Conclusion: Tumor size >= 5cm was associated with poor prognosis after receiving chemotherapy treatment and a risk factor for survival of mCRC.

Abstract:This study aims to clarify the impact of tumor size on the prognosis of patients diagnosed with thymoma and thymic carcinoma, leveraging data from a population-based registry. Utilizing the SEER database, this retrospective analysis identified patients diagnosed with thymoma and thymic carcinoma from 2000 to 2020. Propensity score matching was employed to mitigate potential statistical biases between groups categorized by tumor size (≤ 6.5 cm and > 6.5 cm). The study included a total of 3857 patients, comprising 2688 with thymoma and 1169 with thymic carcinoma. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that tumors ≤ 6.5 cm independently correlated with improved Cancer-Specific Survival (CSS) (p = 0.001; p < 0.001) and Overall Survival (OS) (p < 0 .001; p < 0.001) in both thymoma and thymic carcinoma cohorts. Subgroup analysis revealed that smaller tumors (≤ 6.5 cm) conferred survival benefits in patients with Masaoka-Koga stage IIB thymomas and stage III/IV thymic carcinomas (thymoma: CSS: p < 0.0001; OS: p = 0.00045; thymic carcinoma: CSS: p = 0.028; OS: p = 0.014). Additionally, WHO type A/AB/B1 and type B2/B3 thymomas with tumors ≤ 6.5 cm exhibited superior CSS (p = 0.005; p < 0.00018) and OS (p = 0.015; p = 0.0021). Through propensity matching analysis utilizing the SEER database, this study underscores the prognostic significance of tumor size in both early-stage thymoma and advanced-stage thymic carcinoma, identifying a critical threshold of 6.5 cm. In the WHO classification, tumor size based on the cut-off value of 6.5 cm has a greater impact on the prognosis of type B2/B3 (high-risk group) than A/AB/B1 (low-risk group).

Abstract:Background: We hypothesized that in patients with colon cancer showing heavy intestinal wall invasion without lymph node metastasis (stage II), small tumor size would correlate with more aggressive tumor behaviors and thus poorer cancer-specific survival (CSS).Methods: We analyzed Caucasian patients with stage II colon cancer based on data from the US Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Survival was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method, and the log-rank test was used to identify differences. Risk factors were analyzed using the Cox proportional hazard model.Results: A total of 7719 stage II colon cancer patients from the SEER database were included in the analysis. The cutoff value (5.0 cm) was determined using the X-tile program. The Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that tumors <5.0 cm had a poorer CSS compared to tumors >= 5.0 cm (p = 0.006). Multivariate analysis indicated that tumor size is an independent prognostic factor for stage II patients, and compared to tumors <5.0 cm, tumors >= 5.0 cm were more likely to result in a better CSS (HR 0.775, 95% CI 0.691 -0.870, p < 0.001). Tumor size was also analyzed as a continuous variable in the multivariate analysis, and the CSS decreased with decreasing tumor size (HR 0.958, 95% CI 0.936-0.981, p < 0.001). Subgroup analyses suggested that tumor size is also an independent prognostic factor for stage IIA (p = 0.002) and IIC (p < 0.001) patients.Conclusions: Smaller tumor size is associated with poor CSS in the stage II colon cancer and particularly in the stage IIA and IIC subgroups. Abstract:<section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Aim</h3><p>Larger tumour size and lymph node involvement traditionally predict poorer survival in colon cancer patients. However, it has been recently suggested that very small tumours (<5 mm) may be a predictor of poorprognosis in colon cancer patients when lymph nodes are involved.This study investigated whether node‐positive colon cancer patients with small tumours had worse survival compared to those with larger tumours in the Department of Defense's (DoD) Military Health System (MHS), a universal health care system.</p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Methods</h3><p>Surgically treated colon cancer patients were identified from the DoD's Automated Central Tumour Registry (ACTUR). They were diagnosed with stage I‐III colon cancer between 1989 and 2010, with ≥1 lymph node examined, and did not receive pre‐operative radiotherapy, and were followed through 2013 for vital status. Multivariable Cox models were used to examine survival differences by tumour size groups and stratified by lymph node status and age.</p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Results</h3><p>There were no differences in overall survival by tumour size in the study population.These findings remained similar in stratified analysis by lymph node status and age.</p></section><section class="article-section__content"><h3 class="article-section__sub-title section1"> Conclusion</h3><p>In a universal health care system, small tumour size is not associated with worse prognosis in node‐positive colon cancer patients.</p></section>

Prognostic Value of the Tumor Size in Resectable Colorectal Cancer with Different Primary Locations: A Retrospective Study with the Propensity Score Matching

Abstract:<b>Objective:</b> To investigate the prognostic value of the tumor size in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with different primary tumor locations. <b>Patients and methods:</b> We retrospectively recruited 3971 stage I-III CRC patients with curative resection. The propensity score matching technique was conducted to reduce the selection bias, producing a propensity score matched cohort of 1347 pairs of patients based on the tumor size (≤4 cm and >4 cm groups). Kaplan-Meier survival analyses and univariate and multivariate analyses were used to compare the overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS) and disease-free survival (DFS) between the two groups. Subgroup analyses which were stratified by primary tumor locations and several other baseline variables were also performed for conformation. <b>Results:</b> In the propensity score matched cohort, the Kaplan-Meier survival curves revealed that patients with a tumor size less than 4 cm had similar OS, CSS and DFS, compared to patients with a tumor size greater than 4 cm. While in multivariate analyses, the smaller tumor size was an independent risk factor for CSS (HR, 1.275; 95% CI, 1.006-1.616; P=0.045). Subgroup analyses based on primary tumor locations further suggested that the smaller tumor size was significantly associated with worse OS (HR, 2.455; 95% CI, 1.297-4.649; P=0.006) and CSS (HR, 2.493; 95% CI, 1.202-5.174; P=0.014) in patients with right-side colon cancers (RCC). <b>Conclusions:</b> Our propensity matching score study indicated that the smaller tumor size was an independent risk factor for CSS in patients with stage I-III CRC, and for OS and CSS in patients with RCC.

Abstract:Background The prognostic value of tumor size in colon cancer remains controversial. This study aimed to reveal the correlation between tumor size and prognosis of colon cancer. Methods A total of 491 patients with colon cancer were included in this study. The correlation of tumor size with prognosis, mismatch repair status, and other clinicopathological characteristics as well as tumor microenvironment was analyzed. Results For stage IIA microsatellite stable (MSS) colon cancer, tumors sized <3.5 cm and ≥5 cm were associated with a poorer disease free survival (DFS) compared with tumors sized between 3.5 and 5 cm ( P = .002). Small tumor size (HR = 5.098, P = .001) and large tumor size (HR = 2.749, P = .029) were found to be independent prognostic factors for stage IIA MSS colon cancer. Moreover, high expression of transgelin (TAGLN), a marker of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), was found to be an independent prognostic factor for poorer DFS (HR = 9.651, P = .009), which was also associated with smaller tumor size ( P = .027). Conclusion Small (<3.5 cm) and large (≥5 cm) tumor sizes are associated with decreased DFS in stage IIA MSS colon cancer. Enrichment of TAGLN+ CAFs is associated with decreased DFS and small tumor size.

Abstract:Abstract Background The size of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) at diagnosis is an indicator of outcome. Previous studies have focused mostly on patients with resectable disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between tumour size and risk of metastasis and death in a large PDAC cohort, including all stages. Methods Patients diagnosed with PDAC between 1988 and 2013 were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. Tumour size was defined as the maximum dimension of the tumour as provided by the registry. Metastatic spread was assessed, and survival was calculated according to size of the primary tumour using the Kaplan–Meier method. Cox proportional regression modelling was used to adjust for known confounders. Results Some 58 728 patients were included. There were 187 patients (0·3 per cent) with a tumour size of 0·5 cm or less, in whom the rate of distant metastasis was 30·6 per cent. The probability of tumour dissemination was associated with tumour size at the time of diagnosis. The association between survival and tumour size was linear for patients with localized tumours, but stochastic in patients with regional and distant stages. In patients with resected tumours, increasing tumour size was associated with worse tumour-specific survival, whereas size was not associated with survival in patients with unresected tumours. In the adjusted Cox regression analysis, the death rate increased by 4·1 per cent for each additional 1-cm increase in tumour size. Conclusion Pancreatic cancer has a high metastatic capacity even in small tumours. The prognostic impact of tumour size is restricted to patients with localized disease.

Abstract:BACKGROUND:Few previous studies have taken the growth pattern into consideration when analyzing the prognostic value of tumor size in colorectal cancer (CRC). OBJECTIVE:We sought to reveal the prognostic role of tumor size in different macroscopic growth patterns of CRC. MATERIALS AND METHODS:Using Cancer Center datasets, we identified 4057 cases with colorectal adenocarcinoma treated with curative resection. Macroscopic growth patterns of tumors were classified into three types: infiltrative, ulcerative and expansive types based on tumor gross appearance. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to evaluate the prognostic factors for overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). RESULTS:In whole cohort, tumor size was an independent factor for OS (HR 1.10, 95%CI 1.04-1.16, p < 0.001). Subgroup analysis based on macroscopic growth pattern suggested that tumor size was an independent factor for OS both in the infiltrative (HR 1.37, 95%CI 1.12-1.66, p = 0.002) group and ulcerative group (HR 1.08, 95%CI 1.00-1.16, p = 0.044) and tumor size (HR 1.22, 95%CI 1.06-1.40, p = 0.004) was found as an independent factor for DFS only in infiltrative group. CONCLUSIONS:Tumor size is an independent factor for OS and DFS in patients with colorectal adenocarcinoma of infiltrative type, while only for OS in patients of ulcerative type.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to see how accurate tumor size was at predicting T and N stages in rectal malignancies. Tumor sizes of 40 mm and greater than 40 mm were used to assess post-operative challenges in related to T1-T2 and T3-T4 stages, as well as between node N0 and node N1 and N2 patients. A total of 131 patients were treated for colorectal cancer, with 54 patients < 40 mm and 77 patients > 40 mm receiving Da Vinci colorectal surgery. Conferring to the Clavien-Dindo classification grade III, there's an increase in the percentage of tumors > 40 mm, which also impacts the percentage of intestinal obstruction, anastomotic leakage, GERD, and sepsis with a P < 0.05. A tumor size of more than 40 mm is strongly associated with advanced pT stages. Tumor size may serve in addition to clinical staging and improve the management of rectal cancer.
Effect of Large Tumor Size on Cancer-Specific Mortality in Node-Negative Breast Cancer.

Abstract:Objective: To examine the relationship between large tumor size and breast cancer-specific mortality (BCSM), especially in a subset of patients with negative lymph nodes (LNs).Patients and Methods: We used the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results registry to identify 107,705 female patients diagnosed from January 1, 1990, through December 31, 2003, as having invasive breast cancer and treated with surgery and LN dissection. Relevant issues unclear in the database were studied in an additional 335 patients with locally advanced disease treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy.Results: In the multivariable analysis, a significant interaction was found between tumor size and LN involvement (P<.001). In LN-negative diseases, the relationship between tumor size and BCSM was piecewise. Using 21-to 30-mm tumors as the reference, the hazard ratio (HR) of BCSM increased with increasing tumor size until a peak at 41 to 50mm (HR, 1.49; P<.001), after which increasing tumor size was unexpectedly related to decreasing hazard, with a nadir at 61 to 80 mm (HR, 1.06; P=.70). The 61-to 80-mm tumors exhibited a significantly lower BCSM compared with the 41-to 50-mm (P=.02) and greater than 80-mm (P=.03) subgroups. This pattern remained after stratification by estrogen receptor status but was not observed in patients with LN-positive disease. Further analysis indicated that the survival advantage of 61-to 80-mm tumors in LN-negative disease might result from its low risk of distant metastasis.Conclusion: A relatively larger tumor size without LN involvement may be a surrogate for biologically indolent disease of distant metastasis. Our findings, if validated in other large databases, may provide better understanding of breast cancer biology. Abstract:Colorectal cancer is a prevalent malignancy with global significance. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the influence of stage and tumor site on survival outcomes in 284 colorectal cancer patients diagnosed between 2001 and 2017. Patients were categorized into four groups based on tumor site (colon and rectum) and disease stage (early stage and advanced stage). Demographic characteristics, treatment modalities, and survival outcomes were recorded. Bayesian survival modeling was performed using semi-competing risks illness-death models with an accelerated failure time (AFT) approach, utilizing R 4.1 software. Results demonstrated significantly higher time ratios for disease recurrence (TR = 1.712, 95% CI 1.489–2.197), mortality without recurrence (TR = 1.933, 1.480–2.510), and mortality after recurrence (TR = 1.847, 1.147–2.178) in early-stage colon cancer compared to early-stage rectal cancer. Furthermore, patients with advanced-stage rectal cancer exhibited shorter survival times for disease recurrence than patients with early-stage colon cancer. The interaction effect between the disease site and cancer stage was not significant. These findings, derived from the optimal Bayesian log-normal model for terminal and non-terminal events, highlight the importance of early detection and effective management strategies for colon cancer. Early-stage colon cancer demonstrated improved survival rates for disease recurrence, mortality without recurrence, and mortality after recurrence compared to other stages. Early intervention and comprehensive care are crucial to enhance prognosis and minimize adverse events in colon cancer patients.

Abstract:Background: It is accepted that tumor stage and size can influence response to neoadjuvant therapy in locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). Studies on organ preservation to date have included a wide variety of size and TNM stage tumors. The aim of this study was to report tumor response based on each relevant TNM stage and tumor size. Methods: Patients treated with LARC from 2014 to 2021 with cT2-3NxM0 tumors who received neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy with or without induction chemotherapy were included. Tumors were staged and tumor size calculated on pelvic MRI at the time of diagnosis (cTNM). Tumor size was based on the largest dimension taken on the longest axis of each tumor. Clinical response was defined on the basis of post-treatment pelvic MRI and pathological response following surgery, when performed. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS Statistics™, version 20. Data from 432 patients were analyzed as follows: cT2N0 (n = 51), cT2N+ (n = 36), cT3N0 (n = 76), cT3N+ (n = 270). Results: The rate of complete or near-complete response (cCR or nCR) varied from 77% in cT2N0 ≤ 3 cm to 20% in cT3N+ > 4 cm. Organ preservation without recurrence at 2 years was achieved in 86% of patients with cT2N0, 50% in cT2N+, 39% in cT3N0, and 12% in cT3N+. Conclusion: There is significant variation in tumor response according to tumor stage and size. Tumor response appears inversely proportional to increasing TNM stage and tumor size. This data can support both refinement of selective patient recruitment to organ preservation programs and shared decision-making.

Abstract:Background The relationship between tumor size and survival in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is still controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic ability of tumor size for solitary ICC after resection and explore optimal cut-off values in different subgroups. Methods Patients with solitary ICC who underwent liver resection from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program and Shandong Provincial Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression analysis were used to assess the prognostic ability of tumor size. The log-rank test was used to determine the optimal cut-off values, and a minimum P was regarded as the optimal one in different subgroups. Results Large tumor size groups had worse overall survival (OS) than small tumor size groups. Cox regression analysis suggested that tumor size was an independent prognostic factor for OS for solitary ICC after resection. Subgroup analysis showed tumor size was associated with OS for both solitary ICC with and without vascular invasion (VI). Furthermore, the optimal cut-off values for solitary ICC with and without VI were found to be 8 and 3 cm, respectively, which could divide the patients into two groups with significant differences in OS. Conclusion Tumor size was an independent prognostic factor for solitary ICC after resection. The existing American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system could be improved if the cut-off value of the T1 stage was changed to 8 cm and if the T2 stage incorporated a tumor size with a cut-off value of 3 cm. Further studies with more cases are needed to validate these findings.
