Abstract:This paper is concerned with Devaney chaos in non-autonomous discrete systems. It is shown that in its definition, the two former conditions, i.e., transitivity and density of periodic points, in a set imply the last one, i.e., sensitivity, in the case that the set is unbounded, while a similar result holds under two additional conditions in the other case that the set is bounded. Furthermore, some chaotic behavior is studied for a class of non-autonomous systems, each of which is governed by a convergent sequence of continuous maps.

Abstract:We develop a novel decoupling inequality for nonhomogeneous order 2 non-Gaussian chaoses. Having this decoupling inequality, we show two types of the p-th moment bounds for the suprema of a log-concave-tailed chaos process based on some chaining techniques and the generalized majorizing measure theorems for canonical processes. As applications, we show the restricted isometry property of partial random circulant matrices and time-frequency structured random matrices induced by standard α-subexponential vectors, 1≤α≤ 2, which extends the previously known results for the sub-Gaussian case.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the relationship between a non-autonomous discrete dynamical system (NDDS) (H,f1,∞) and its induced set-valued discrete dynamical systems (K(H),f ̄1,∞). Specifically, it explores the chaotic properties of these systems. The main finding is that f1,∞ is Devaney chaotic if and only if f ̄1,∞ is Devaney chaotic in we-topology. The paper also provides similar conclusions for weak mixing, mixing, mild mixing, chain-transitivity, and chain-mixing in non-autonomous set-valued discrete dynamical systems (NSDDSs). Additionally, the paper proves that weak mixing implies sensitivity in NSDDSs.

Abstract:Rule 110 is a complex cellular automaton CA in Wolfram's system of identification, capable of supporting universal computation. It has been suggested that a universal CA should be on the ‘edge of chaos’, which means that the dynamical behaviour of such a system is neither simple nor chaotic. There is no doubt that the dynamical property of Rule 110 is extremely complex and still not well understood. This paper proves the existence of subsystems on which this rule is chaotic in the sense of Devaney.

Abstract:Let $T$ be a continuous self-map of a compact metric space $X$. The transformation $T$ induces natural a continuous self-map $T_K$ on the hyperspace $K(X)$ of all non-empty closed subsets of $X$. In this paper, we show that the system $(K(X),T_K)$ on the hyperspace is Devaney chaotic if and only if $(K(X),T_K)$ is an HY-system if and only if $(X,T)$ is an HY-system, where a system $(Y,S)$ is called an HY-system if it is totally transitive and has dense small periodic sets.

Devaney chaos of multiple mappings from a set-valued view

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the definitions of periodic point, transitivity, sensitivity and Devaney chaos of multiple mappings from a set-valued perspective. We study the relation between multiple mappings and its continuous self-maps and show that multiple mappings and its continuous self-maps do not imply each other in terms of periodic point or transitivity. While the sufficient condition for multiple mappings to have periodic points, to be transitive and sensitive is provided separately. And we show that transitivity plus dense periodic point set implies sensitivity. Also, a sufficient condition for multiple mappings to be Devaney chaotic is given.

Abstract:In this paper, a mixing transformation f:M→M on a manifold M is proved to be sensitively dependent on the initial value of the iteration f and topologically transitive. Furthermore, a chaotic transformation f in the sense of Devaney with some assumption is proved to be an expanding map, which implies several statistical properties in this transformation map.

Abstract:We study relationships between a set-valued map and its inverse limits about the notion of periodic point set, transitivity, sensitivity and Devaney chaos. Density of periodic point set of a set-valued map and its inverse limits implies each other. Sensitivity of a set-valued map and its inverse limits does not imply each other. Transitivity and Devaney chaos of generalized inverse limits implies the corresponding property of a set-valued map.

Abstract:We study dynamical properties of quantum entanglement in the Dicke model with and without the rotating-wave approximation. Specifically, we investigate the maximal entanglement and mean entanglement which reflect the underlying chaos in the system, and a good classical-quantum correspondence is found. We also show that the maximal linear entropy can be more sensitive to chaos than the mean linear entropy.

Abstract:We show that the existence of a dense set of periodic points for a topologically transitive non-minimal continuous group action on a Hausdorff uniform space with an infinite acting group does not necessarily imply a sensitive dependence to the initial conditions in such a system. This leads to define the chaos in the sense of Devaney for a continuous group action on a Hausdorff uniform spaces with an infinite acting group in the original way, i.e. a non-minimal topologically transitive and sensitive system with a dense set of periodic points is a chaotic system in the sense of Devaney.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that chaos in the sense of Li–Yorke and of Devaney is prevalent in discrete systems admitting the so-called heteroclinical repellers, which are similar to the transversely heteroclinical orbits in both continuous and discrete systems and are corresponding to the snap-back repeller proposed by Marotto for proving the existence of chaos in higher-dimensional systems. In addition, the concept of heteroclinical repellers is generalized to be applicable to the case with degenerate transformations. In the end, some illustrative examples are provided to illustrate the theoretical results.

Abstract:We give a definition of chaos for a continuous self-map of a general topological space. This definition coincides with the Devanney definition for chaos when the topological space happens to be a metric space. We show that in a uniform Hausdorff space, there is a meaningful definition of sensitive dependence on initial conditions, and prove that if a map is chaotic on a such a space, then it necessarily has sensitive dependence on initial conditions. The proof is interesting in that it explains very clearly what causes a chaotic process to have sensitive dependence. Finally, we construct a chaotic map on a non-metrizable topological space.

Abstract:We consider a process $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$ in a fixed Wiener chaos $\mathcal{H}_n$. We establish some non-degenerate properties and related results for $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$. As an application, we show that solution to SDE driven by $\{X_t\}_{0\leq t\leq 1}$ admits a density. Our approach relies on an interplay between Malliavin calculus and analysis on Wiener space.

Abstract:Real systems are often subject to both noise perturbations and impulsive effects. In this paper, we study the stability and stabilization of systems with both noise perturbations and impulsive effects. In other words, we generalize the impulsive control theory from the deterministic case to the stochastic case. The method is based on extending the comparison method to the stochastic case. The method presented in this paper is general and easy to apply. Theoretical results on both stability in the pth mean and stability with disturbance attenuation are derived. To show the effectiveness of the basic theory, we apply it to the impulsive control and synchronization of chaotic systems with noise perturbations, and to the stability of impulsive stochastic neural networks. Several numerical examples are also presented to verify the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the relationship between Li-Yorke chaos and distributional chaos in a sequence. We point out the set of all distributional $\delta$-scramble pairs in the sequence $Q$ is a $G_\delta$ set, and prove that Li-Yorke $\delta$-chaos is equivalent to distributional $\delta$-chaos in a sequence, a uniformly chaotic set is a distributional scramble set in some sequence and a class of transitive system implies distributional chaos in a sequence.

Abstract:Let be a dynamical system. Using an equivalence relation on , we introduce the quotient of the dynamical system . In the first part of the paper, we give new results about sensitive dependence on initial conditions of , transitivity of , and periodic points in . In the second part of the paper, we use these results to study chaotic functions on the Cantor fan. Explicitly, we study functions on the Cantor fan such that (1) is chaotic in the sense of Devaney, (2) is chaotic in the sense of Robinson but not in the sense of Devaney, and (3) is chaotic in the sense of Knudsen but not in the sense of Devaney. We also study chaos on the Lelek fan.
