Abstract:A buck-boost soft switch circuit is proposed by analyzing the equivalence of two types of single-phase soft switch circuits and their applicable scope. The simulation results show that the prosposed circuit can accomplish both correction of the output buck-boost PFC and soft-switching of the switch devices.

Abstract:Aiming at solving the problems of magnetic bias that may exist,large current stress,poor soft switching performance and duty cycle loss of phase-shift full-bridge circuit,a novel circuit topology that combines Boost circuit,phase-shift full-bridge circuit and resonant circuit was proposed.The working principles of the circuit were described firstly,and then the key waveform diagram of the circuit was given.A detailed study focusing on the conditions to achieve soft switching on the basis of working status and mathematical models with fundamental component method was made,and the design method to realize the soft switching of the novel DC/DC converter was given.The existing problems were studied and solutions were proposed.A 1 000 W prototype was developed.The experimental results indicate that the converter has a good performance,and verifies the correctness of the analysis and calculation.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel single-stage isolated ACDC converter is proposed for single-phase high power PFC applications. The circuit is derived by combining the boost converter and the matrix-based isolated AC-DC converter. Compare to traditional PFC plus DC/DC configuration, this topology has no diode front end and the number of semiconductors in the current path is minimized. Thus the conduction loss is decreased. By adding a small clamping capacitor and two small size commutation inductors, soft-switching for all switches can be realized. Thus the system efficiency can be significantly improved. Furthermore, traditional PWM technology can be applied. Problems of resonant based soft-switching converters including large EMI filter size, high devices voltage and current stress, and low light load efficiency can be avoided. In this paper, the topology derivation and circuit operational analysis are given. The control strategy is introduced and a simulation is carried out to verify the circuit.

Abstract:In this paper, a novel single-stage soft-switching current-fed full-bridge AC/DC converter is proposed. By adding an additional commutation path, soft-switching can be realized for all power devices. The power density is also enhanced by eliminating the DC capacitor. Meanwhile, the conduction loss is also lowered through the use of the additional commutation path. Furthermore, the control strategy for the proposed converter is compatible with that for traditional PFC converter. This facilitates the use of well-developed analog control IC such as UC3854. In this paper, the topology derivation and circuit operational analysis are given. The control strategy is introduced. A simulation is carried out to verify the circuit functionality.

Abstract:A boost/buck-boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) converter with wide output voltage is proposed in this paper. The converter operates in boost mode when input is lower than output and in buck-boost mode when input voltage is higher than output voltage. In order to reduce the reverse recovery loss in both operating modes, the converter can achieve boundary conduction mode with a pseudo constant-on-time (COT) control. Furthermore, with the improved Pseudo-COT control the input line current keeps smooth during the operating mode transitions. Theoretical analysis and design considerations for the proposed converter and control strategy are presented and verified by a 150 W PFC prototype with universal input voltage and wide output voltage range from 200V to 400V.

Abstract:This paper proposes a zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) Buck/Boost converter (BBC). In addition, an auxiliary circuit based on a coupled inductor is introduced to realize ZVS for the main MOSFETs. The magnetic coupling inductor plays the role of filtering and provides ZVS conditions for the main MOSFETs. Since all of the switches can achieve soft switching conditions, and the conduction loss of the auxiliary circuit is small, the conversion efficiency for the overall system is improved. When compared with the traditional ZVS implementation methods based on magnetic coupling inductors used in Buck, Boost, and Buck/Boost converters, the proposed topology can prevent current notches on the current waveform of the input source. Since there are no notches on the input source current, when the proposed ZVS implementation method is applied to an interleaved parallel BBC structure, it has a smaller current ripple of the input source. Finally, experimental results are given and analyzed. Based on these results, both the ZVS conditions and efficiency improvement are verified.

Abstract:According to the design ideology of softswitched extended-period quasi-resonant two-level Boost converter circuit,a soft switching cell of extend-period quasi-resonant had been added to the three-level Boost converter for power factor correction(PFC) applications,then a fully and simple soft-switched extended-period quasi-resonant three-level Boost converter for PFC circuit can be obtained. The proposed approach can effectively reduce the switching losses and electromagnetic interference(EMI) and it is verified through analysis,simulation and experiment.

Abstract:A method for soft switching applicable to Buck-Boost converter is researched. In this converter synchronous rectifier is applied and inductor current is designed to be reverse in every period. Junction capacitance of switch can be charged by reversible inductor current so that soft switching can be achieved. This method is preferable for low voltage output, high power density applications. According to different soft switching conditions, the conception of strong switch and week switch is presented. The design considerations of soft switching condition for strong switch and week switch are also proposed. A 200 kHz prototype of 28V input, 20 V output, whose efficiency is 94. 2% is built to verify the strategy.

Abstract:In contrast to the conventional boost power factor correction (PFC) converter, the buck PFC converter can achieve high efficiency in the entire universal input voltage range. A critical conduction mode (CRM) soft-switched buck PFC converter with constant on-time control is presented in this paper. The design methodology and criteria for zero-voltage switching range, high efficiency and low harmonics of the CRM buck ac-dc converter are achieved. A 100-W prototype built up according to the proposed design criteria shows that the input current harmonics meet the IEC61000-3-2 (Class D) standard and the efficiency is higher than 0.965 during the universal input range.

Abstract:Two passive lossless snubber cells are added to the three-level circuit to soften the switching processes of the switches and freewheeling diodes and the principle and implementation approaches of the three-level circuit are described. A three-level Buck/Boost topology circuit's operating principles and design considerations are discussed in detail. At last, the simulated result indicates that the circuit can realize the three-level function and increase system efficiency as well as lead to not any over-voltage stress on main power switches.

Abstract:This paper presents a new resonant soft-switching quasi-Z-source inverter. On the basis of the quasi-Z-source inverter, the proposed inverter inherits the features of high voltage boost ability, circuit simplicity and high reliability. A resonant network with coupled inductor is employed to achieve the soft-switching scheme. All active devices (switches and diodes) in the inverter are tuned on and off under zero voltage or zero-current switching condition. The principle of the proposed converter and analysis of operation are proposed. Simulation and experimental results are given to illustrate the soft-switching characteristics. The theoretical analysis and simulation agrees well with experimental results.

Abstract:The paper presents a novel single phase there-level PFC circuit with passive soft switching. The three-level Buck and Boost topologies are derived from the traditional diode clamped three-level inverters' bridge leg firstly. Then, a single phase three-level PFC circuit is discussed based on the three-level BOOST topology. Two passive soft switching snubber cells are added to three-level PFC circuit to soften the switching processes of the switches and freewheeling diodes. It's operating principle and design considerations are discribed in detail. At last, a 2kW prototype of the single phase three-level PFC with the passive soft switching is built and tested. The simulated and experimental results show that the circuit can realize the three-level PFC function and increase system efficiency as well as have no over-voltage stress on main power switches.

Abstract:Power factor correction (PFC) circuit is used to restrain harmonic pollution in the grid.For the purpose of size and weight decrease,the switch frequency is increasing.In large power Boost PFC,the Boost converter always operates in continuous conduction mode(CCM).The reverse-recovery of the diode increases the switching loss of MOSFET.This paper presents a new topology using coupling inductor to establish an auxiliary loop.By using the auxiliary loop,the zero voltage switching(ZVS) of the main loop switch can be achieved.Through designing the self-inductance,mutual-inductance and dead time between the range of soft-switching and dead time is analyzed in the condition of 220 V input voltage 3 300 W output power PFC.And the design method of coupling inductance is presented.At last,the correctness of theoretical analysis is verified by experiment.

Abstract:The conventional Boost PFC usually suffers from high output voltage and low efficiency at low input condition. Recently, the Buck PFC has attracted a lot of research interests for its low output voltage and high efficiency at low input condition. However, the conventional Buck PFC converter usually has low power factor (PF) and poor harmonic performance due to the inherent dead angle of the input current, especially at low input condition. How to achieve high power factor, low output voltage and high efficiency at the same time is still a big challenge for the PFC converters. This paper proposes a family of hybrid PFC converter topologies combine the advantages of Boost PFC and Buck PFC converters, which feature low output voltage and continuous input current (high PF). The derivation methodology is presented. The experimental results verify the advantages of the proposed topologies.

Abstract:A bi-directional Buck/Boost voltage balancer required in DC distribution system is proposed in this paper. Compared with the existing voltage balancer, the proposed balancer is unique in adding a bi-directional Buck/Boost converter, so that it cannot only balance the positive and negative rail voltages of the load side, but also regulate the total load voltage for fluctuating supply voltage. Theoretical analysis is performed to establish the model of this bidirectional Buck/Boost voltage balancer. For meeting the characteristic of the proposed voltage balancer, based on the complementary PWM method the control strategy has been proposed and analyzed. And the simulations have been carried out to verify the validity of the circuit topology.

Abstract:Paper presents a strategy for single switchDC/DC converters such as buck, boost, buck-boost, and flyback to realize soft switching. Soft switching can beachieved if synchronous rectifier is applied and current through inductor is designed to be reverse in every period. According to different soft switching conditions, the conception of strongswitch and week switch is presented. Design considerations of soft switching condition for strong switch and week switch are also proposed. A 200kHz prototype of 24V input, 40V output,whose efficiency is 96.9% is built to verify the strategy.

Abstract:Operation principle of single-phase AC/AC voltage conversion with buck-boost circuit under one-cycle control is described.A math model and a simulation with Matlab/Simulink is completed fort AC/AC voltage conversion.Simulation results shows that the buck-boost circuit for AC/AC conversion can properly operate in static and dynamic situation such as abrupt-change load,and proves that the scheme is feasible in principle and its static and dynamic performance is good.In addition,after detailed analysis a half of full-controlled type switch devices used for AC/AC conversion may be replaced by semi-controlled type switch devices,namely,thyristors.This will cause lower cost for the equipment.

Abstract:In converters for power-factor-correction (PFC), the universal-input capability, i.e., the ability to operate from any ac line voltage world-wide, comes with a heavy penalty in terms of component stresses and losses, and with restrictions on the dc output voltage. In this paper, we propose a new two-switch topology, boost-interleaved buck-boost (BoIBB) converter, which can offer significant performance improvements over single-switch buck-boost converters (including flyback, SEPIC, or Cuk topologies) or other two-switch buck-boost converters in universal-input PFC applications. The paper presents an analysis of the converter operation and component stresses, as well as design guidelines. High efficiency (over 93%) throughout the universal-input ac line voltage range is demonstrated on an experimental 100-W, 200-V dc output, universal-input BOIBB PFC rectifier.
