Abstract:All participants thank managing editor of the A&WMA, Lisa Bucher for her support and encouragement throughout. No potential conflict of interest was reported by the author(s). Susan S.G. Wierman is a lecturer in the Engineering for Professionals Program at the Johns Hopkins University. Before retiring in 2017, Wierman served for 21 years as the Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Air Management Association. Ms. Wierman is Chair of A&WMA's Critical Review Committee. Bret Schichtel is a Research Physical Scientist in the Air Resource Division of the National Park Service and an affiliate with the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Atmosphere at Colorado State University. Dr. Schichtel is a member of A&WMA's Critical Review Committee. Jeffrey L. Collett Jr. is a University Distinguished Professor and former Department Head of the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University. Dr. Collett's work has focused on research on cloud and precipitation chemistry, the sources and effects of atmospheric nitrogen pollution, the chemistry of atmospheric aerosols and their contributions to regional haze, and the air quality impacts of oil and gas development. Dr. Collett is the Technical Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association. Gregory R. Wentworth is a Senior Atmospheric Scientist at the Alberta Ministry of Environment and Protected Areas, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Wentworth leads several projects related to air quality and deposition monitoring with a focus on the Alberta Oil Sands Region. Dr Wentworth earned a BSc in Environmental Chemistry at Wilfrid Laurier University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Toronto. Carla Davidson is President of Endeavour Scientific, Inc., Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Endeavour Scientific helps clients navigate links between science and policy. Dr. Davidson works with Indigenous communities in the Athabasca Oil Sands region on issues of environmental management and monitoring. She has a B.S. in Ecology and Environmental Studies from the University of Victoria, and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Calgary. Allan H. Legge is President of Biosphere Solutions, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Legge has over 50 years of research experience addressing the effects of air quality on forest and agricultural ecosystems, with an emphasis on boreal forests. He has been involved in research on Alberta's oil sands since 1975. Charles T. Driscoll , the lead author of the 2024 Critical Review, is Distinguished and University Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY. Driscoll's scholarly work addresses the effects of disturbance on forest, freshwater and marine ecosystems, including air pollution (mercury, sulfur, and nitrogen deposition), land-use, and climate change. Michael Bell , co-author of the 2024 Critical Review, is an ecologist with the National Park Service - Air Resources Division who studies how air pollution harms ecosystems. Dr. Bell develops management tools, such as Critical Loads, to guide the protection and recovery of ecosystems from air pollution. Daven K. Henze , co-author of the 2024 Critical Review, is Professor and the S.P. Chip and Lori Johnson Faculty Fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research interests include aerosols, air quality, climatology, and atmospheric chemistry. Jana B. Milford , co-author of the 2024 Critical Review, is Emerita Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Environmental Engineering Program at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her research and teaching interests focus on air quality modeling and data analysis, thermal sciences, environmental impacts of energy systems, and environmental law and policy.
