What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The paper aims to address issues related to the biocompatibility and biodurability of artificial heart valve materials. Specifically, the study investigates four types of silicon polyurethane materials with different chemical compositions and structural characteristics, all of which are suitable for polymer heart valve applications. The research explores the microphase separation structure of the materials through various testing methods (such as SAXS, DSC, etc.) and analyzes the surface/interface properties and mechanical performance of the materials using XPS, SEM-EDX, and mechanical performance tests. The study found that although a high silicon content reduces the mechanical performance of the materials, the "silicon protective layer" formed on the material surface can reduce cell and protein adsorption, thereby improving biocompatibility and biostability. By comprehensively testing these four silicon polyurethane materials, the paper aims to provide valuable references for selecting suitable polymer materials for heart valve applications and to offer important insights for the performance evaluation and biocompatibility research of polymer artificial heart valve materials.
