Abstract:The main aim of this paper is to achieve the suitable SA-GEL (sodium alginate and gelatin) porous cartilage scaffold by 3D printing technology with optimal prediction parameters. Firstly, the characteristics of SA-GEL were analyzed, the influence of calcium chloride on the gel was explored, and the optimal cross-linking concentration and gelation temperature were determined. Secondly, a prediction model of the extrusion line width of SA-GEL was established, in which the printing pressure, the moving speed of the needle and the fiber interval were the important parameters affecting the printing performance of the SA-GEL composite material. Thirdly, the SA-GEL composite scaffolds were printed on the Bio-plotter platform, the C5.18 chondrocytes cells were cultured in the SA-GEL biomaterial scaffold, and the results show that the cells could survive well. These results show that, under the control of the printing parameters pressure 1.8 bar, moving speed 10.7 mm/s and the internal structure parameters of the scaffold is 0/45-1.2 (Printing interval: 1.2 mm, angle value: 45 degree), SA-GEL scaffold printing results can be obtained which have good mechanical properties and biocompatibility.

Abstract:Cartilage damage is difficult to heal and poses a serious problem to human health as it can lead to osteoarthritis. In this work, we explore the application of biological 3D printing to manufacture new cartilage scaffolds to promote cartilage regeneration. The hydrogel made by mixing sodium alginate (SA) and gelatin (GA) has high biocompatibility, but its mechanical properties are poor. The addition of hydroxyapatite (HA) can enhance its mechanical properties. In this paper, the preparation scheme of the SA-GA-HA composite hydrogel cartilage scaffold was explored, the scaffolds prepared with different concentrations were compared, and better formulations were obtained for printing and testing. Mathematical modeling of the printing process of the bracket, simulation analysis of the printing process based on the mathematical model, and adjustment of actual printing parameters based on the results of the simulation were performed. The cartilage scaffold, which was printed using Bioplotter 3D printer, exhibited useful mechanical properties suitable for practical needs. In addition, ATDC-5 cells were seeded on the cartilage scaffolds and the cell survival rate was found to be higher after one week. The findings demonstrated that the fabricated chondrocyte scaffolds had better mechanical properties and biocompatibility, providing a new scaffold strategy for cartilage tissue regeneration.

Abstract:Currently, osteochondral defects frequently cause limited motion and impaired function of the joint, leading to serious healthcare problems, and it is still very challenging to realize the simultaneous regeneration of subchondral bone with cartilage. In the current study, we designed a tri-layered scaffold and fabricated it using the extrusion-based multi-nozzle 3D printing technology. The bioinks used for 3D printing included a 15% methacrylated gelatin (GelMA) hydrogel for cartilage on top layer, a combination of 20% GelMA and 3% nanohydroxyapatite (nHA) (20/3% GelMA/nHA) hydrogel for interfacial layer, and a 30/3% GelMA/nHA hydrogel for subchondral bone at bottom layer. The water absorption capacity, biodegradation, and mechanical properties of hydrogels and scaffolds were characterized, and in vitro assay with bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) was performed to indicate the biocompatibility of scaffolds. Based on the results of in vivo repair of rabbit osteochondral defect, the neo-tissues in defects integrated better with the surrounding tissues, the joint surface of the defects was smoother, and more cartilage-specific extracellular matrix and collagen type II were observed using the tri-layered scaffolds. This study not only provides a potential manufacturing method for multi-layered scaffolds, but also is helpful for understanding the regeneration mechanism of cartilage-subchondral bone.

Abstract:Cartilage is an important tissue contributing to the structure and function of support and protection in the human body. There are many challenges for tissue cartilage repair. However, 3D bio-printing of osteochondral scaffolds provides a promising solution. This study involved preparing bio-inks with different proportions of chitosan (Cs), Gelatin (Gel), and Hyaluronic acid (HA). The rheological properties of each bio-ink was used to identify the optimal bio-ink for printing. To improve the mechanical properties of the bio-scaffold, Graphene (GR) with a mass ratio of 0.024, 0.06, and 0.1% was doped in the bio-ink. Bio-scaffolds were prepared using 3D printing technology. The mechanical strength, water absorption rate, porosity, and degradation rate of the bio-scaffolds were compared to select the most suitable scaffold to support the proliferation and differentiation of cells. P3 Bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) were inoculated onto the bio-scaffolds to study the biocompatibility of the scaffolds. The results of SEM showed that the Cs/Gel/HA scaffolds with a GR content of 0, 0.024, 0.06, and 0.1% had a good three-dimensional porous structure and interpenetrating pores, and a porosity of more than 80%. GR was evenly distributed on the scaffold as observed by energy spectrum analyzer and polarizing microscope. With increasing GR content, the mechanical strength of the scaffold was enhanced, and pore walls became thicker and smoother. BMSCs were inoculated on the different scaffolds. The cells distributed and extended well on Cs/Gel/HA/GR scaffolds. Compared to traditional methods in tissue-engineering, this technique displays important advantages in simulating natural cartilage with the ability to finely control the mechanical and chemical properties of the scaffold to support cell distribution and proliferation for tissue repair.

Abstract:Articular cartilage defects affect millions of people worldwide, including children, adolescents, and adults. Progressive wear and tear of articular cartilage can lead to progressive tissue loss, further exposing the bony ends and leaving them unprotected, which may ultimately cause osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease). Unlike other self-repairing tissues, cartilage has a low regenerative capacity; once injured, the cartilage is much more difficult to heal. Consequently, developing methods to repair this defect remains a challenge in clinical practice. In recent years, tissue engineering applications have employed the use of three-dimensional (3D) porous scaffolds for growing cells to regenerate damaged cartilage. However, these scaffolds are mainly chemically synthesized polymers or are crosslinked using organic solvents. Utilizing 3D printing technologies to prepare biodegradable natural composite scaffolds could replace chemically synthesized polymers with more natural polymers or low-toxicity crosslinkers. In this study, collagen/oligomeric proanthocyanidin/oxidized hyaluronic acid composite scaffolds showing high biocompatibility and excellent mechanical properties were prepared. The compressive strengths of the scaffolds were between 0.25–0.55 MPa. Cell viability of the 3D scaffolds reached up to 90%, which indicates that they are favorable surfaces for the deposition of apatite. An in vivo test was performed using the Sprague Dawley (SD) rat skull model. Histological images revealed signs of angiogenesis and new bone formation. Therefore, 3D collagen-based scaffolds can be used as potential candidates for articular cartilage repair.

Abstract:The limited self-healing ability of cartilage necessitates the application of alternative tissue engineering strategies for repairing the damaged tissue and restoring its normal function. Compared to conventional tissue engineering strategies, three-dimensional (3D) printing offers a greater potential for developing tissue-engineered scaffolds. Herein, we prepared a novel photocrosslinked printable cartilage ink comprising of polyethylene glycol diacrylate (PEGDA), gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA), and chondroitin sulfate methacrylate (CSMA). The PEGDA-GelMA-CSMA scaffolds possessed favorable compressive elastic modulus and degradation rate. In vitro experiments showed good adhesion, proliferation, and F-actin and chondrogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) on the scaffolds. When the CSMA concentration was increased, the compressive elastic modulus, GAG production, and expression of F-actin and cartilage-specific genes (COL2, ACAN, SOX9, PRG4) were significantly improved while the osteogenic marker genes of COL1 and ALP were decreased. The findings of the study indicate that the 3D-printed PEGDA-GelMA-CSMA scaffolds possessed not only adequate mechanical strength but also maintained a suitable 3D microenvironment for differentiation, proliferation, and extracellular matrix production of BMSCs, which suggested this customizable 3D-printed PEGDA-GelMA-CSMA scaffold may have great potential for cartilage repair and regeneration in vivo.

Abstract:Cartilage has a limited ability to repair itself, highlighting the urgent need for suitable materials for cartilage regeneration. Achieving a balance between cell survival environment and hydrogel crosslinking density is crucial for photosensitive cell-laden cartilage repair materials to achieve both high strength and good cell viability. Here, an interpenetrating hydrogel consisted of methacrylate gelatin (GelMA) and glycidyl methacrylate silk fibroin (SG) was introduced. Compared to GelMA hydrogel, GelMA/SG had desired mechanical properties, with achieving up to 5 times of compression modulus and 6 times of compression failure energy. Meanwhile, the chondrocytes inside GelMA/SG exhibited great viability which was over 90 %. GelMA/SG as a bioink had favorable printability for digital light processing (DLP) bioprinting. The mesh DLP-printed scaffolds with high precision were created and GelMA/SG had a better shape retention ability than GelMA. Moreover, GelMA/SG cell-laden scaffolds had high strength while chondrocytes proliferated significantly in vitro culture. They were implanted under the skin of nude mice to evaluate ectopic chondrogenesis in vivo . The GelMA/SG cell-laden scaffolds indicated little deformation and high expression of collagen type II and glycosaminoglycans, which was advantageous for cartilage regeneration. The scaffold and its fabrication strategy provide potential solutions for clinical cartilage repair problems in the future.

Abstract:"Lean" (continuous improvement) organizations make use of daily management systems (DMS) that are designed so that problems can be quickly identified, front-line staff are empowered to fix the problems that they can, and problems that the front-line staff cannot fix are escalated and countermeasures created quickly. Key components of a DMS include leadership standard work, visual controls, and a daily accountability process, as well as discipline involving each of these three components. The author's organization recently had the opportunity to open a new, nonreplacement hospital, allowing the incorporation of continuous improvement principles into the hospital's design and operations. One high-priority task was the creation of a DMS, which was structured as a tiered "huddle" system. All of the front-line clinical areas, as well as all clinical and nonclinical ancillary support areas, conduct morning huddles. Problems identified at these huddles and needing escalation are then brought to a patient flow huddle and an integrated huddle. All of these huddles occur daily and have a standard format with three clearly defined components: metrics-goal review, daily readiness assessment, and problem accountability reporting. The huddles also provide a daily opportunity to see and converse with the people with whom one needs to discuss certain issues. The process of bringing people together for these huddles can contribute significantly to team formation, coordination of efforts, and development of a culture of trust.

Abstract:To determine the optimum composition of AS/PVA for bioprinting cartilage scaffold, a molecular simulation combining experimental method was employed to investigate the microstructure, physicochemical properties and printability of AS/PVA blending hydrogels at different compositions. The compatibility analysis results show that SA and PVA have a good compatibility, they are miscible at any compositions. Mechanical properties analysis indicates that the tensile strength of 8SA/2PVA is the best, and compared with 8SA/2PVA, 7SA/3PVA possesses a better toughness and similar tensile strength. Moreover, FFV value and pore size decrease with the increase of PVA content, indicating the incorporation of PVA makes the system denser and pore size smaller, and the hydrogel of 8SA/2PVA possesses the optimal pore structure for the proliferation of chondrocytes. The main reason behind the conclusions obtained above is attributed to the strong hydrogen bond and intermolecular interaction between SA and PVA molecular chains. Finally, the results of printability indicates that, due to the fluidity of PVA, the forming quality becomes worse with the increase of PVA content, and when the PVA content in hydrogel precursors is within 30 wt.%, the forming quality is relatively good. Comprehensive considering the results above, the blend hydrogel of 8SA/2PVA was selected out and considered to be the most suitable for 3D printing cartilage scaffolds.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE Due to a recent increase in the rates of reportable sexually transmitted infections (STI) across Canada, and the movement of public health nursing initiatives to a health promotion/illness prevention model, this paper proposes alternative strategies to current public health initiatives to encourage individuals who are labelled as at-risk by public health discourses, such as teens and males who have sex with males (MSM), to undertake preventative screening. THEORETICAL DESIGN To undertake this task, we approached Health Canada's (2002) determinants of health utilizing Lupton's (1995) post-structuralist work on public health to suggest that for some members of these groups, health is not an imperative. CONCLUSIONS As such, we propose that increasing anonymous testing and its advertisement would provide one means of providing population-sensitive care and could thus increase the screening rates of individuals within groups who reject the public health "healthy" disquisition.
Mechanical properties and biocompatibility characterization of 3D printed collagen type II/silk fibroin/hyaluronic acid scaffold.

Abstract:Damage to articular cartilage is irreversible and its ability to heal is minimal. The development of articular cartilage in tissue engineering requires suitable biomaterials as scaffolds that provide a 3D natural microenvironment for the development and growth of articular cartilage. This study aims to investigate the applicability of a 3D printed CSH (collagen type II/silk fibroin/hyaluronic acid) scaffold for constructing cartilage tissue engineering. The results showed that the composite scaffold had a three-dimensional porous network structure with uniform pore sizes and good connectivity. The hydrophilicity of the composite scaffold was 1071.7 ± 131.6%, the porosity was 85.12 ± 1.6%, and the compressive elastic modulus was 36.54 ± 2.28 kPa. The creep and stress relaxation constitutive models were also established, which could well describe the visco-elastic mechanical behavior of the scaffold. The biocompatibility experiments showed that the CSH scaffold was very suitable for the adhesion and proliferation of chondrocytes. Under dynamic compressive loading conditions, it was able to promote cell adhesion and proliferation on the scaffold surface. The 3D printed CSH scaffold is expected to be ideal for promoting articular cartilage regeneration.

Abstract:Abstract The emerging 3D printing technique allows for tailoring hydrogel‐based soft structure tissue scaffolds for individualized therapy of osteochondral defects. However, the weak mechanical strength and uncontrollable swelling intrinsic to conventional hydrogels restrain their use as bioinks. Here, a high‐strength thermoresponsive supramolecular copolymer hydrogel is synthesized by one‐step copolymerization of dual hydrogen bonding monomers, N ‐acryloyl glycinamide, and N ‐[tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl] acrylamide. The obtained copolymer hydrogels demonstrate excellent mechanical properties—robust tensile strength (up to 0.41 MPa), large stretchability (up to 860%), and high compressive strength (up to 8.4 MPa). The rapid thermoreversible gel ⇔ sol transition behavior makes this copolymer hydrogel suitable for direct 3D printing. Successful preparation of 3D‐printed biohybrid gradient hydrogel scaffolds is demonstrated with controllable 3D architecture, owing to shear thinning property which allows continuous extrusion through a needle and also immediate gelation of fluid upon deposition on the cooled substrate. Furthermore, this biohybrid gradient hydrogel scaffold printed with transforming growth factor beta 1 and β‐tricalciumphosphate on distinct layers facilitates the attachment, spreading, and chondrogenic and osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow stem cells (hBMSCs) in vitro. The in vivo experiments reveal that the 3D‐printed biohybrid gradient hydrogel scaffolds significantly accelerate simultaneous regeneration of cartilage and subchondral bone in a rat model.

Abstract:Abstract Cartilage has limited self-repair ability due to its avascular, alymphatic and aneural features. The combination of three-dimensional (3D) printing and tissue engineering provides an up-and-coming approach to address this issue. Here, we designed and fabricated a tri-layered (superficial layer (SL), middle layer (ML) and deep layer (DL)) stratified scaffold, inspired by the architecture of collagen fibers in native cartilage tissue. The scaffold was composed of 3D printed depth-dependent gradient poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) impregnated with methacrylated alginate (ALMA), and its morphological analysis and mechanical properties were tested. To prove the feasibility of the composite scaffolds for cartilage regeneration, the viability, proliferation, collagen deposition and chondrogenic differentiation of embedded rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in the scaffolds were assessed by Live/dead assay, CCK-8, DNA content, cell morphology, immunofluorescence and real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. BMSCs-loaded gradient PCL/ALMA scaffolds showed excellent cell survival, cell proliferation, cell morphology, collagen II deposition and hopeful chondrogenic differentiation compared with three individual-layer scaffolds. Hence, our study demonstrates the potential use of the gradient PCL/ALMA construct for enhanced cartilage tissue engineering.

Abstract:Preparation of biological scaffolds with complex shapes and controllable internal structures is a significant development direction for the tissue engineering field. Due to its simplicity, low-cost and cost-effectiveness, fused deposition molding (FDM) is one of the most popular 3D printing technologies. In this paper, polyvinyl alcohol/polylactic acid/hydroxyapatite composites were fabricated successfully. On this basis, composite scaffolds with different pore structures were designed and constructed by using FDM technology. The material structure was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and dynamic thermomechanical analyzer. The results showed that the cross-sectional morphology of the system presented a "sea-island" structure. The introduction of PLA and HA significantly increased the modulus of the material, which was beneficial to achieve its FDM processing. The compressibility, mineralization behavior, and biocompatibility of the viscoelastic characteristics to natural cartilage subjected to the condition of filling angle of 45° was systemically invesitgated. Notably, the concentrations of Ca2+ and PO43− in simulated body fluid were reduced by 34.7% and 58.2% on 8th day, indicating a good bone formation and mineralization ability, which was further corroborated by SEM and fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results. Biotoxicity test showed that the scaffold presented excellent biocompatibility.

Abstract:The repair of cartilage injuries and defects in the knee presents a significant challenge in the field of human joint surgery. A promising solution involves the synergy of three-dimensional printing and articular cartilage tissue engineering. This research primarily focuses on the formulation of composite hydrogels comprising gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA), silk fibroin (SF) and hydroxyapatites (Haps), with a thorough examination of their morphology and mechanical properties. We also conducted tests on stacking height and grid area to assess the 3D printability of GM/SF/Haps inks. To evaluate the suitability of GM/SF/Haps scaffolds in cartilage regeneration, we performed 2D culture with mouse chondrocytes (ATDC5) inoculated on hydrogel surface and 3D culture with ATDC5 mixed in printing scaffolds. The assessment involved various techniques, such as Live/Dead staining, Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, immunofluorescence staining and cytoskeleton staining. The outcomes of this investigation revealed that the inclusion of Haps significantly enhanced cell viability, cell proliferation and the differentiation of chondrocytes within the composite scaffolds. Consequently, this study underscores the promising potential of GM/SF/Haps scaffolds in the domain of cartilage regeneration.

An Experimental Study on the Mechanical and Biological Properties of Bio-Printed Alginate/Halloysite Nanotube/Methylcellulose/Russian Olive-Based Scaffolds

Abstract:Purpose: Cartilage shows neither repairs nor regenerative properties after trauma or gradual wear and causes severe pain due to bones rubbing. Bioprinting of tissue-engineered artificial cartilage is one of the most fast-growing sciences in this area that can help millions of people against this disease. Methods: Bioprinting of proper bioscaffolds for cartilage repair was the main goal of this study. The bioprinting process was achieved by a novel composition consisting of alginate (AL), Halloysite nanotube (HNT), and methylcellulose (MC) prepared in bio-ink. Also, the effect of Russian olive (RO) in chondrocytes growth on bioscaffolds was also investigated in this work. Compressive, hardness and viscosity tests, Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), water-soluble Tetrazolium (WST) assay, and also transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were carried out. Results: The results show that in constant concentrations of AL, MC, and RO (20 mg/ml AL, 20 mg/ml MC, and 10 mg/ml RO) when concentration of HNT increased from 10 mg/ml (T-7) to 20 mg/ml (T-8) compressive stiffness increased from 241±45 kPa to 500.66±19.50 kPa. Also, 20 mg/ml of AL in composition saved proper water content for chondrocyte growth and produced good viscosity properties for a higher printing resolution. Conclusion: RO increased chondrocytes living cell efficiency by 11% on bioprinted scaffolds in comparison with the control group without RO. Results obtained through in-vivo studies were similar to those of in-vitro studies. According to the results, T-7 bio-ink has good potential in bioprinting of scaffolds in cartilage repairs.

Abstract:Intra-articular trauma typically initiates the overgeneration of reactive oxidative species (ROS), leading to post-traumatic osteoarthritis and cartilage degeneration. Xanthan gum (XG), a branched polysaccharide, has shown its potential in many biomedical fields, but some of its inherent properties, including undesirable viscosity and poor mechanical stability, limit its application in 3D printed scaffolds for cartilage regeneration. In this project, we developed 3D bioprinted XG hydrogels by modifying XG with methacrylic (MA) groups for post-traumatic cartilage therapy. Our results demonstrated that the chemical modification optimized the viscoelasticity of the bioink, improved printability, and enhanced the mechanical properties of the resulting scaffolds. The XG hydrogels also exhibit decent ROS scavenging capacities to protect stem cells from oxidative stress. Furthermore, XGMA<sub>(H)</sub> (5% MA substitution) exhibited superior chondrogenic potential in vitro and promoted cartilage regeneration in vivo<i>.</i> These dual-functional XGMA hydrogels may provide a new opportunity for cartilage tissue engineering.

Abstract:The construction of bioactive scaffolds with a suitable microenvironment for tissue regeneration provides a great promise for improving clinical treatment of osteochondral and full-thickness articular cartilage defects. Hydrogels of polysaccharides, such as alginate, agarose, chitosan, cellulose, hyaluronic acid, and dextran, biomimic the structure of the extracellular matrix (ECM), are exceptionally biocompatible scaffold material for tissue regeneration. The application of polysaccharide hydrogels combined with 3-dimensional (3D) printing technology can precisely distribute cell-loaded biomaterials, construct complex 3D living tissues with optimal structure and mechanical properties for osteochondral and cartilage repair. This review highlights recent advances in the development of polysaccharide-based hydrogel materials for promoting bone and cartilage tissue repair. We also highlight recent advances in 3D bioprinting polysaccharide-based hydrogel materials in cartilage regeneration. The cell type and the development of 3D bioprinting technology were described. In addition, the formation of polysaccharide – protein-based is also discussed. We outline the future trends of 3D printing including machine learning, near-infrared photopolymerization, 4D printing, and a combination of self-assembly and live-cell 3D printing-based methods.

Abstract:All types of movements involve the role of articular cartilage and bones. The presence of cartilage enables bones to move over one another smoothly. However, repetitive microtrauma and ischemia as well as genetic effects can cause an osteochondral lesion. Numerous treatment methods such as microfracture surgergy, autograft, and allograft, have been used, however, it possesses treatment challenges including prolonged recovery time after surgery and poses a financial burden on patients. Nowadays, various tissue engineering approaches have been developed to repair bone and osteochondral defects using biomaterial implants to induce the regeneration of stem cells. In this study, a collagen (Col)/γ-polyglutamate acid (PGA)/hydroxyapatite (HA) composite scaffold was fabricated using a 3D printing technique. A Col/γ-PGA/HA 2D membrane was also fabricated for comparison. The scaffolds (four layers) were designed with the size of 8 mm in diameter and 1.2 mm in thickness. The first layer was HA/γ-PGA and the second to fourth layers were Col/γ-PGA. In addition, a 2D membrane was constructed from hydroxyapatite/γ-PGA and collagen/γ-PGA with a ratio of 1:3. The biocompatibility property and degradation activity were investigated for both scaffold and membrane samples. Rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (rBMSCs) and human adipose-derived stem cells (hADSCs) were cultured on the samples and were tested in-vitro to evaluate cell attachment, proliferation, and differentiation. In-vivo experiments were performed in the rat and nude mice models. In-vitro and in-vivo results show that the developed scaffold is of well biodegradation and biocompatible properties, and the Col-HA scaffold enhances the mechanical properties for osteochondrogenesis in both in-vitro and animal trials. The composite would be a great biomaterial application for bone and osteochondral regeneration.

Abstract:Repairing articular cartilage defects remains a clinical challenge. 3D bioprinting scaffolds to repair articular cartilage defects is a research hotspot nowadays. In this study, we used silk fibroin (SF) and hydroxypropyl cellulose methacrylate (HPCMA) to prepare a porous SF-HPCMA bioink capable of 3D bioprinting for the first time, and based on this bioink, we successfully bioprinted SF-HPCMA scaffolds with excellent mechanical properties. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and rheological properties tests showed that SF-HPCMA bioink had suitable porosity, pore size, more β-sheets, and excellent rheological properties. The mechanical property measurement results showed that the compression modulus of SF-HPCMA scaffolds reached that of normal cartilage. In vitro experiments demonstrated that SF-HPCMA scaffolds were highly biocompatible and could effectively promote the proliferation and chondrogenic differentiation of BMSCs, and that the cartilage tissue produced by in vitro culture was of higher quality. At 12 weeks after implantation of SF-HPCMA scaffolds into the rabbit knee cartilage defects, the SF-HPCMA scaffolds could effectively repair the articular cartilage defects. SF-HPCMA bioink and scaffolds are promising materials for repairing articular cartilage defects.
