Abstract:Objective To analyse the condylar position through temporomandibular joint(TMJ) transcranial later-al oblique radiographs by analyzing the temporomandibular joint disorder(TMD) patients. Methods Seventy-six patients with TMD(30 males, 46 females) were selected, aging from 17 to 53 years. TMJ transcranialateral oblique radiographs were measured and analyzed using the Cohlmia method. Results Among the 76 TMD patients, the mean value of PO1(the anteropsterior axes of condylar position) was 1.220±0.422 and that of PO2(the vertical axes of condylar position) was 0.386±0.085 on the left side, while the mean value of PO1 was 1.119±0.386 and that of PO2 was 0.397±0.098 on the right side. These condylar position and glenoid fossa difference were found to be insignificant(P>0.05). Conclusion The difference of condylar position is not so obviously in the TMD patients, thus the significance of diagnosis is limited.
Study of changes of condylar morphology and position by MRI with fixed inclined bite-plate therapy in mandibule-retrusion patients

Abstract:Objective To study the changes of condylar morphology and position in the mandibule-retrusion patients during fixed inclined bite-plate treatment.Methods The subjects were 13 consecutive Class II osseous malocclusions with mandibular retrusion treated with fixed inclined-bite.From each subject,four MRI images of TMJ were obtained and evaluated:before treatment,at the beginning of treatment,during treatment and after treatment.Results MRI-signs of condylar remodeling were observed at the posterior-superior border in all 13 subjects treated with fixed inclined-bite.Condylar-fossa relationship changes were unconspicuous before and after treatment.Conclusion Condylar remodeling seems to contribute significantly to the increase in mandibular growth resulting from fixed inclined bite-plate treatment,while condylar-fossa relationship has no remarkable changes.

Abstract:Background: The authors retrospectively studied the relationship between the morphology and position of the articular disc in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and the morphology and position of the condyle in cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), with the purpose for providing reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Methods: Patients with both CBCT and MRI imaging data were studied retrospectively, excluding TMJ tumour, fracture, severe condylar morphological abnormalities, non-intercuspal position, and poor quality images. A total of 744 temporomandibular joints (TMJs) from 372 patients were included, with the mean age of 25.94±11.04Y (75 males and 297 females). T2-weighted image (T2WI) of MRI imagings were used to evaluate disc morphology and disc displacement, while CBCT was obtained to evaluate the condylar bone and sagittal condylar position. Data were analysed by Pearson Chi square test and Spearman correlation coefficient. Results: THE DISTRIBUTION OF 744 TMJS IS AS FOLLOWS: 1) DISC MORPHOLOGY: contracture (37.1 %) > biconcave (32.9 %) > irregular (18.5 %) > lengthened (11.4 %); 2) disc position: ADDWoR (48.3 %) > NA (26.9 %) > ADDWR (21.6 %) > PDDWR (2.8 %) > PDDWoR (0.4 %); 3) condylar position: concentric (43.7 %) > posterior (37.6 %) > anterior (18.7 %); 4) condylar bone: normal (63.4 %)> abnormal (36.6 %). There were significant differences in the distribution of disc morphology and disc position between the sex (P < 0.05). There were significant differences in the distribution of disc position and condylar morphology amongst the age groups (P < 0.05). There were significant differences in the distribution of disc position, condylar position and condylar morphology amongst disc morphology (P < 0.05), and there were positive correlation between disc position(r = 0.703, P = 0.000), the score of condyle (r = 0.478, P = 0.000) and disc morphology respectively. There were significant differences in the distribution of disc position and condylar position amongst condylar morphology (P < 0.05). There was a positive correlation between disc position and condyle morphology (r = 0.413, P = 0.000), and a negative correlation between condyle position and condyle morphology (r=-0.152, P = 0.000). There were significant differences in the distribution of disc position amongst condylar position (P < 0.05), but there was no linear correlation (P = 0.159). Conclusions: The mutual distribution of disc morphology, disc position, condylar morphology and condylar position was statistically significant. Disc displacement did not necessarily lead to condylar bone changes, but 92.7 % TMJs with condylar bone abnormalities had disc displacement. Trial registration: This study was retrospectively registered on 28/03/2022 and endorsed by the Ethics committee (LCYJ2022014).
Quantitative analysis of the mouth opening movement of temporomandibular joint disorder patients according to disc position using computer vision: a pilot study

Abstract:Background: Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD), which is a broad category encompassing disc displacement, is a common condition with an increasing prevalence. This study aimed to develop an automated movement tracing algorithm for mouth opening and closing videos, and to quantitatively analyze the relationship between the results obtained using this developed system and disc position on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods: Mouth opening and closing videos were obtained with a digital camera from 91 subjects, who underwent MRI. Before video acquisition, an 8.0-mm-diameter circular sticker was attached to the center of the subject's upper and lower lips. The automated mouth opening tracing system based on computer vision was developed in two parts: (I) automated landmark detection of the upper and lower lips in acquired videos, and (II) graphical presentation of the tracing results for detected landmarks and an automatically calculated graph height (mouth opening length) and width (sideways values). The graph paths were divided into three types: straight, sideways-skewed, and limited-straight line graphs. All traced results were evaluated according to disc position groups determined using MRI. Graph height and width were compared between groups using analysis of variance (SPSS version 25.0; IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). Results: Subjects with a normal disc position predominantly (85.72%) showed straight line graphs. The other two types (sideways-skewed or limited-straight line graphs) were found in 85.0% and 89.47% in the anterior disc displacement with reduction group and in the anterior disc displacement without reduction group, respectively, reflecting a statistically significant correlation (χ2=38.113, P<0.001). A statistically significant difference in graph height was found between the normal group and the anterior disc displacement without reduction group, 44.90±9.61 and 35.78±10.24 mm, respectively (P<0.05). Conclusions: The developed mouth opening tracing system was reliable. It presented objective and quantitative information about different trajectories from those associated with a normal disc position in mouth opening and closing movements. This system will be helpful to clinicians when it is difficult to obtain information through MRI.
Metrical Analysis of Disc-Condyle Relation with Different Splint Treatment Positions in Patients with TMJ Disc Displacement.

Abstract:Abstract Objective: To evaluate the effect of bite positions characterizing different splint treatments (anterior repositioning and stabilization splints) on the disc-condyle relation in patients with TMJ disc displacement with reduction (DDwR), using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Material and Methods: 37 patients, with a mean age of 18.8±4.3 years (7 male and 30 females) and diagnosed with DDwR based on the RDC/TMD, were recruited. MRI metrical analysis of the spatial changes of the disc/condyle, as well as their relationships, was done in three positions: maximum intercuspation (Position 1), anterior repositioning splint position (Position 2), and stabilization splint position (Position 3). Disc/condyle coordinate measurements and disc condyle angles were determined and compared. Results: In Position 1, the average disc-condyle angle was 53.4° in the 60 joints with DDwR, while it was −13.3° with Position 2 and 30.1° with Position 3. The frequency of successful "disc recapture" with Position 2 was significantly higher (58/60, 96.7%) than Position 3 (20/60, 33.3%). In Positions 2 and 3, the condyle moved forward and downward while the disc moved backward. The movements were, however, more remarkable with Position 2. Conclusions: Anterior repositioning of the mandible improves the spatial relationship between the disc and condyle in patients with DDwR. In addition to anterior and inferior movement of the condyle, transitory posterior movement of the disc also occurred.
Study of structural changes of temporomandibular joint and Helkimo index in children with class Ⅱdivision 1 malocclusion

Abstract:Objective To determine the correlation between disc condyle displacement and clinical symptom and signs in children with class Ⅱdivision 1 malocclusion.Methods 120 cases with class Ⅱdivision 1 malocclusion who had no orthodontic history accepted scan of bilateral sagittal temporomandibular joint(TMJ) magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) and clinical investigation.The average age of the subjects was 10.8+1.1 years(range 8-23 years).Dp-Cc/Cc-Cs,JSI variables which represented disc condyle displacement were measured according to MR imagings of TMJ;Ai(anamnestic dysfunction index),Di(clinical dysfunction index) variables which represented clinical symptom and physical signs were gained by clinical investigation according to Helkimo index.Then rank sum test was performed. Reults In 61 cases of 120 it was found condyle anterior positioned,incidence rate 50.8%;and in 40 it was found disc anterior positioned,incidence rate33.3%.But these cases had no complaint of temporomandibular internal derangement(TMD),and no physical signs mostly(67.2% in condyle displace group,70.0% in disc displace group).Correlation between disc condyle displacement and clinical symptom physical signs in these cases had no significance.Conclusion Patients with class Ⅱdivision 1 malocclusion always risk disc or condyle of TMJ displacement but have clinical symptom physical signs slightly.MRI plays an important role in the early diagnosis for TMD.
Mri-Based Analysis Of Stress Trajectories In The Articular Disc During Jaw Opening

Abstract:The aim of this study was to evaluate the stress characteristics in the temporomandibular joint disc of a patient with temporomandibular joint disorder during jaw opening and to further understand the biomechanical basis for temporomandibular joint disorders. A two-dimensional finite element model of a symptomatic articular disc was developed based on magnetic resonance imaging data from a subject with temporomandibular joint disorder. Hyperelastic constitutive laws were applied to the anterior and posterior bands and the intermediate zone of the disc. The finite element analysis of the disc deformation applied displacement loading based on the contours of the disc at different degrees of jaw opening. Stress and strain trajectories of the disc were calculated. The intermediate zone of the symptomatic disc was mainly under compression during jaw opening, while the anterior and posterior bands were being stretched. The maximum and minimum principal stresses were concentrated on the boundaries of the posterior band. In addition, relatively high shear stress was concentrated on the inferior boundary of the posterior band and the superior boundary of the middle-posterior band. The stress in the symptomatic disc increased linearly with the degree of jaw opening, especially in the posterior band. Deformation of the disc in the symptomatic joint caused high stress in the posterior band, which is also the most likely zone to suffer injury. It is suggested that the patient avoids wide jaw opening since it may cause excessive stress to the disc.

Abstract:OBJECTIVETo investigate the types of disc position of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and their relationship with age and gender in asymptomatic volunteers by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).METHODSA total of 100 asymptomatic volunteers were divided into 5 groups (11-, 21-, 31-, 41-, 51 - 60 years old), 10 male and 10 female were included in each group. A total of 200 TMJs were scanned with Siemens Trio Tim 3.0T MRI system oblique-sagittally at closed- and open-mouth positions. Visual evaluation of MR images were performed on 3 neighbour slices of each TMJ (lateral, central, medial).RESULTSThere was a normal disc-condyle relationship in 59 of the 100 asymptomatic subjects. The normal disc position, anterior disc displacement and insidious anterior disc displacement (IADD) were observed in 140 (70.0%), 14(7.0%) and 46(23.0%)joints respectively, which showed no significant differences among different age groups or between genders (P > 0.05). The maximum mouth opening of the 100 asymptomatic volunteers was (46.3 +/- 5.5) mm, with no significant difference among the various types of disc position (P > 0.05).CONCLUSIONSDisc displacement does exist in the asymptomatic volunteers, however, its occurrence is not associated with age and gender. IADD is the main type of the disc displacement in asymptomatic volunteers. There is no close relationship between the imaging manifestation of the disc displacement and clinical symptoms.
Relationship between interincisal angles and TMJ morphology/position and trabecular structure: a retrospective study

Abstract:Background: TMJ morphology/position and trabecular structure are influenced by various factors. The role of the interincisal angle, an indicator of the anterior occlusal relationship, on TMJ remains unclear. This study aims to investigate the morphology, trabecular bone structure, and position of the condyle, as well as the glenoid fossa's morphology in skeletal class II populations with different interincisal angles. Materials and methods: A total of 150 adult patients with normodivergent facial types and skeletal class II malocclusions were selected and divided into three groups based on their interincisal angles: normal, small, and large angle groups. The indexes of TMJ were measured using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) data and analyzed using Dolphin Imaging, Mimics, and ImageJ. Results: The small angle group had the smallest anteroposterior diameter (APD), while the large angle group had a greater mediolateral diameter (MLD). The large angle group exhibited significantly the largest maximum axial area, bone surface area, and bone volume (P < 0.05). Small and large angle groups exhibited greater bone trabeculae (Tb. N) and thinner trabecular thickness (Tb. Th). Compared to the normal angle group, the small angle group exhibited a larger horizontal condylar angle and smaller bilateral condylar angles on the axial plane, while the large angle group showed the opposite trend. Small and large angle groups showed a reduced vertical condyle angle on the coronal plane, with the largest reduction observed in the large angle group (P < 0.05). Small and large angle groups had higher heights of the glenoid fossa (GFH). The large angle group exhibited the greatest GFH and width of the glenoid fossa (GFW) (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The large angle group had elongated oval and large condyles, and deeper glenoid fossae, while a flattened-oval and smaller condyle, and wider and shallower glenoid fossae were observed in the small angle group. Small and large interincisal angle affects the structure of condylar trabeculae, resulting in thinner Tb. Th and greater Th. N. In the condylar position, small and large angle groups exhibit condylar rotation in the axial and coronal planes. Therefore, the interincisal angle affects the morphology, position, and trabecular structure of the TMJ. This implies that we must pay attention to the impact of the interincisal angle on TMJ, and it is crucial to restore the normal interincisal angle during orthodontic treatment.
Diagnostic Efficacy of CBCT, MRI and CBCT–MRI Fused Images in Determining Anterior Disc Displacement and Bone Changes of Temporomandibular Joint

Abstract:Objectives: To evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of CBCT-MRI fused image for anterior disc displacement and bone changes of temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which are the main imaging manifestations of temporomandibular disorders (TMD). Methods: Two hundred and thirty-one TMJs of 120 patients who were diagnosed with TMD were selected for the study. The anterior disc displacement, bone defect and bone hyperplasia evaluated by three experts were used as a reference standard. Three residents individually evaluated all the three sets of images, which were CBCT images, MRI images and CBCT-MRI fused images from individual CBCT and MRI images in a random order for the above-mentioned three imaging manifestations with a five-point scale. Each set of images was observed at least 1 week apart. A second evaluation was performed 4 weeks later. Intra- and inter observer agreements were assessed using the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). The areas under the ROC curves (AUCs) of the three image sets were compared with a Z test, and p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: One hundred and forty-five cases were determined as anterior disc displacement, 84 cases as bone defect and 40 cases as bone hyperplasia. The intra- and inter observer agreements in the CBCT-MRI fused image set (0.76-0.91) were good to excellent, and the diagnostic accuracy for bone changes was significantly higher than that of MRI image set (p < 0.05). Conclusions CBCT-MRI fused images can display the disc and surrounding bone structures simultaneously and significantly improve the observers' reliability and diagnostic accuracy, especially for inexperienced residents.

Abstract:This study aims to investigate the morphological characteristics of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in the patients with anterior disc displacement with reduction (ADDwR) and the alterations after occlusal splint treatment. Thirty ADDwR patients and ten asymptomatic subjects were recruited. Thirteen parameters were adopted, along with automatic computation and presentation of the joint space to characterize the TMJ morphologies. Statistical results showed that morphological discrepancies between the patients and the asymptomatic subjects were ubiquitous. The adjustment of condyle position through occlusal splint treatment can result in joint spaces widening and has positive effects on mitigating the conditions of ADDwR.

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the relationship between the structure of TMJ and the craniofacial pattern,occlusion in ClassⅡ1mandibular retrusion children. Methods:TMJ MRI,lateral cephalometric were taken respectively from 30 ClassⅡ1 patients (14 boys and 16 girls,the average age was 10.8±1.1 years). The condyle position and disc position were measured. The correlation of condyle and disc position with craniofacial pattern and occlusion were analyzed metrically and compared with pearson test.Results:There were low positive correlation between MP-SN angle and anterial space. No correlation between posterior-anterior ratio and other data were found. The posterior facial height and Dp-Cc/Cs-Cc angle had low positive correlation. The anterior facial height and Dp-Cc/Cs-Cc、Ca-Ca'、Ca-Cp showed low negative correlation,and little correlation was found between condyle position and overbite and overjet. Overbite had no correlation with disc-condyle-fossa relationship. However,The positive correlation was found between the overjet. and Ca-Dm and Dp-Cc/Cs-Cc,and Pearson coefficient is 0.420 and 0.460.Conclusion:Vertical craniofacial patter has relation to forward displacement of condyle and backward displacement of disc. A deeper overjet is related with a higher risk of abnormal disc-condyle-fossa relationship.

Abstract:Objective To master the incidence of anterior disc displacement of TMJ in symptomless youth volunteers,and approach the relationship between temporomandibular joint disc and the condyle.Methods Diagnose the anterior disk displacement in the asymptomatic volunteers on the basis of Drace standards,divide them into different groups,locate the point measure the related data and then analyze the data,statistically.Results Among the 30 asymptomatic volunteers,7 volunteers had one-side anterior disk displacement(23.33%);2 volunteers′ condylar process developed anomaly(6.67%);21 volunteers were normal on both sides(70%).There are significant differences between the groups on the relationship of temporomandibular joint disc and condylar process.Conclutions Anterior disk displacement exists in asymptomatic young volunteers,which provides a basis to the study of tempormandibular joint disease.
A Clinical Investigation on Disc Displacement in Sagittal Fracture of the Mandibular Condyle and Its Association with TMJ Ankylosis Development

Abstract:This retrospective study evaluated the potential influence of the sagittal fracture pattern and articular disc displacement on the development of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis. 33 sagittal fractures of mandibular condyles (SFMCs) in 19 patients were treated conservatively and were divided into non-ankylosis and ankylosis groups based on their prognosis. Using computed tomography (CT) images, the SFMCs were classified into types I, II and III, and the displacement of the articular disc was investigated using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). There were 19 (58%) SFMCs in the non-ankylosis group: 5 were type I SFMCs, which did not show any disc displacement; the other 14 were type II SFMCs, which included 5 cases without disc displacement and 9 cases with disc displacement. In the non-ankylosis group, the lateral poles were completely or incompletely covered by the discs. There were 14 (42%) SFMCs in the ankylosis group, all of which were type III SFMCs showing disc displacement, and the lateral poles in these cases were not covered by the discs. This investigation confirmed that the disc position was highly associated with the position of the fractured fragment and that some SFMC patterns, especially type III SFMCs, indicated a high risk of TMJ ankylosis.
Effect of jaw opening on the stress pattern in a normal human articular disc: finite element analysis based on MRI images

Abstract:Introduction Excessive compressive and shear stresses are likely related to condylar resorption and disc perforation. Few studies have reported the disc displacement and deformation during jaw opening. The aim of this study was to analyze stress distribution in a normal articular disc during the jaw opening movement. Methods Bilateral MRI images were obtained from the temporomandibular joint of a healthy subject for the jaw opening displacement from 6 to 24 mm with 1 mm increments. The disc contour for the jaw opening at 6 mm was defined as the reference state, and was used to establish a two dimensional finite element model of the disc. The contours of the disc at other degrees of jaw opening were used as the displacement loading. Hyperelastic material models were applied to the anterior, intermediate and posterior parts of the disc. Stress and strain trajectories were calculated to characterize the stress/strain patterns in the disc. Results Both the maximum and minimum principal stresses were negative in the intermediate zone, therefore, the intermediate zone withstood mainly compressive stress. On the contrary, the maximum and minimum principal stresses were most positive in the anterior and posterior zones, which meant that the anterior and posterior bands suffered higher tensile stresses. The different patterns of stress trajectories between the intermediate zone and the anterior and posterior bands might be attributed to the effect of fiber orientation. The compression of the intermediate zone and stretching of the anterior and posterior bands caused high shear deformation in the transition region, especially at the disc surfaces. Conclusions The stress and strain remained at a reasonable level during jaw opening, indicating that the disc experiences no injury during functional opening movements in a healthy temporomandibular joint.

Abstract:To evaluate the displacement of the disc of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in different types of condylar fracture we studied 160 patients (222 joints) from May 2009-June 2014. All patients had computed tomographic scans (CT) and magnetic resonance images (MRI) taken preoperatively, and 24 patients (32 joints) had MRI postoperatively. CT scans were reviewed to categorise the types of condylar fracture (intracapsular, condylar neck, and subcondylar), and intracapsular condylar fractures were further classified into subtypes A, B, C, and M. MRI were then reviewed to record the position of the disc in each type of condylar fracture. The results were compared using the chi square test. There were 160 intracapsular condylar fractures, 40 fractures of the condylar neck, and 22 subcondylar fractures. Of the intracapsular condylar fractures, 75 were type A, 49 type B, 11 type C, and 25 type M. Discs were displaced in 153 intracapsular condylar fractures, 17 fractures of the condylar neck, and eight subcondylar fractures. Among the type A intracapsular condylar fractures, discs were displaced in 71/75, type B in 47/49, type C in 10/11, and in all 25 type M. The incidence of displaced discs between intracapsular condylar fractures on the one hand, and those of the condylar neck or subcondylar region on the other, was significant (p<0.001), but there were no differences among the various subtypes of intracapsular condylar fractures. Postoperative MRI showed successful results in 28/32 joints. Intracapsular condylar fractures were more likely to have displaced discs than the other types. But there were no differences among different subtypes of intracapsular condylar fractures.

Abstract:This review provides a synopsis of the developments over the past decade in mathematical and statistical methodology in response to the AIDS epidemic. This review includes highlights of the development of epidemic models, approaches to describing the natural history of HIV infection, and the methods developed for HIV therapeutic or prevention research. A bibliography, which is extensive but purposely not intended to be comprehensive, is included. The intention is to provide a historical perspective on the methodologic developments and a framework for identifying HIV/AIDS-related needs for the future.

Abstract:We investigated the effect of anterior disc displacement without osteoarthritis (ADDwoOA) on the morphology of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) utilizing three-dimensional (3D) models of 23 asymptomatic individuals and 30 ADDwoOA patients. Statistical analyses between the groups were performed by measuring 10 morphological parameters. ADDwoOA patients showed significantly decreased levels of the sagittal ramus angle (SRA) and joint spaces compared with asymptomatic subjects. Moreover, the patients who had recovered exhibited normal joint spaces levels. Consequently, ADDwoOA caused the condyles to move backward and upward, approaching the articular fossa. Joint spaces can serve as an important observation during the treatment of ADD.

Three-dimensional Quantitative Evaluation of Condylar Bone Remodeling of Temporomandibular Joint Based on Cone-Beam CT Imaging

Abstract:Objective: To establish a three-dimensional （3D） quantitative measurement and evaluate the condylar bone remodeling of temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Methods: Pre-and post-treatment cone-beam CT (CBCT) data were obtained from 41 patients ［10 males, 31 females, mean age of (19.7±4.4) years (12-30 years old)］, who visited the Center for TMD and Orofacial Pain, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology from November 2014 to August 2019, and diagnosed with acute disc displacement without reduction or disc displacement with reduction, with intermittent locking and treated by manual disc reduction followed by anterior repositioning splint. First, condylar bone remodeling was evaluated according to the number of "double contour image" and qualitatively classified as no remodeling (no double contour image), partial remodeling (1-4 double contour images) and remarkable remodeling (5-6 double contour images). Then, condylar bone remodeling was quantitatively evaluated by CBCT based 3D measurement: segmenting condylar images using a semi-automatic method of the manually preliminary mark combined with watershed algorithm, reconstructing the surface models, superimposing the pre-and post-treatment condylar images and finally calculating the volumetric differences of condyle and condylar head, respectively. Results: The Kappa values of two-dimensional (2D) qualitative evaluation were 0.66-0.87, and 3D quantitative measurements of condyle and condylar head volume were also reliable, with the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) values of intra-observer 0.998/0.941 and inter-observer 0.999/0.942 respectively. The volumetric increment of the condyle and condylar head after treatment was (41.7±90.2) mm³ and (62.8±70.9) mm³, respectively. Eighty-two condyles were divided into three sub-groups: no remodeling (21), partial remodeling (20) and remarkable remodeling (41). Ranking of the volumetric increment of the condyle and condylar head after treatment was as follows: remarkable remodeling group>partial remodeling group>no remodeling group (P<0.05). Conclusions: The 3D quantitative measurement for evaluating condylar bone remodeling had excellent consistency and reliability, which was consistent with the qualitative classification for condylar bone remodeling. The condylar head as a region of interest was more sensitive to the volumetric changes.
