Abstract:The self-powered electrochemical sensor has gained big achievements in energy and devices, but it is challenging in analytical application owing to its low energy conversion efficiency and limited selectivity caused by the plentiful interference in actual samples. Herein, a new self-powered biosensor was constructed by the integration of a photocatalytic fuel cell (PFC) with a molecular imprinting polymer (MIP) to achieve sensitive and specific detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). Compared with other fuel cells, the PFC owns the advantages of low cost, high energy, good stability, and friendly environment by using light as the excitation source. MoS2–Ti3C2Tx MXene (MoS2–MX) served as the photoanode material for the first time by forming a heterojunction structure, which can enhance the photocurrent by about 3-fold and greatly improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency. Aiming at the poor selectivity of the self-powered sensor, the MIP was introduced to achieve the specific capture and separation of targets without sample pretreatment. Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a hepatotoxic and carcinogenic food contaminant, is commonly found in agricultural food. Herein, Au NPs anchored ZIF-8-derived porous carbon-ZnO (Au NPs/PCZIF-8-ZnO) was firstly synthesized to act as the sensing substrate. Then, a ratiometric electrochemical (EC) and "off-on" photoelectrochemical (PEC) dual-mode paper-based aptasensor was presented for AFB1 detection based on a distance-modulation sensing strategy. The independent signal transduction mechanisms and output mode not only broaden the dynamic detection range but also provide a self-verification to assay results, improving the sensitivity and reliability. The wide detection ranges of 0.1 pg/mL-100 ng/mL (EC mode) and 0.02 pg/mL-100 ng/mL (PEC mode) were obtained using dual-mode aptasensor, with detection limits of 36.7 and 9.3 fg/mL, respectively. The fabricated aptasensor exhibited excellent selectivity, reproducibility and stability. Furthermore, it exhibited good practicability for AFB1 assays in real samples, demonstrating great potential applications for food safety evaluation.
Dual-mode electrochemical/colorimetric microfluidic sensor integrated tetrahedral DNA nanostructures with Au/Ni-Co LDH NCs nanozyme for ultrasensitive detection of aflatoxin B1

Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is one of the most hazardous mycotoxins and lead to a deadly danger to animal and human health. The development of portable, low-cost, and easy to operate analytical tools is essential for AFB1 detection, especially in resource-limited regions. Herein, a dual-mode microfluidic paper-based analytical device (μPAD) with electrochemical and colorimetric readout was constructed for AFB1 detection using Au NPs anchored Ni-Co layered double hydroxides nanocages (Au/Ni-Co LDH NCs) as a signal amplifier. In this design, tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs) were employed as a scaffold to anchor “bottom-up” aptamers (Apt) for improving capture efficiency of AFB1. Au/Ni-Co LDH NCs with excellent peroxidase (POD)-like activity were bound on the TDNs through hybridization of Apt and complementary DNA (cDNA), a significant electrochemical signal of H2O2 reduction was generated. Meanwhile, the·OH from H2O2 decomposition catalyzed the oxidation of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine and resulted in a colorimetric signal. The binding of target AFB1 to Apt triggered the dissociation of Apt/cDNA, causing the release of the signal amplifier from the sensing interface and signal decrease. Consequently, a detection range of 0.2 pg/mL-100 ng/mL for electrochemical and 50 pg/mL-100 ng/mL for colorimetric were achieved for AFB1, holding promising application in the fields of food safety.

Abstract:Ratiometric electrochemical aptasensors based on the two different redox reporters can hardly achieve the efficient self-calibration, as a result of variations between reporters. In this work, we reported a ratiometric electrochemical aptasensor using ferrocene as a single redox reporter (Fc) to achieve self-calibrating electrochemical detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). The hybrid duplex of Fc-labeled AFB1 aptamer (Fc-Apt) and Fc-labeled assistant DNA (Fc-aDNA) was designed to construct the sensing interface. Such DNA structure adopted the fixed molar ratio (1:1) and locations (the distances to electrode) of these two types of Fc (i.e., Fc-Apt and Fc-aDNA). In this way, the ratio of redox currents from Fc-Apt (IFc-Apt) and Fc-aDNA (IFc-aDNA) kept stable under the varied temperatures (15–40 °C) and pH values (4–10). Moreover, values of IFc-Apt and IFc-aDNA under the different conditions can be calculated simply by recording the total current of Fc (IFc-total). For analysis, the recognition of AFB1 by Fc-Apt led to the striping of their complex from the aptasensor, resulting in a decrease in IFc-Apt while IFc-aDNA remained stable. Consequently, the developed aptasensor using the ratio of IFc-Apt/IFc-aDNA as a yardstick offered a linear range of 0.1–10000 pg mL−1 with a detection limit of 0.012 pg mL−1 for the detection of AFB1. The applicability of aptasensor was validated by corn sample analysis, which exhibited comparable reliability and accuracy of gold standard method, i.e., HPLC-MS/MS. Our work provided an efficient strategy to fabricate high-performance ratiometric electrochemical aptasensors.

Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), a highly carcinogenic mycotoxin, has garnered global attention due to its contamination in agricultural and food industries. In order to improve the detection capability of the photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor toward AFB1 and eliminate the errors during detection process, a combination of signal inversion strategy and ratiometric sensing strategy was implemented herein to construct a "negative-positive-negative" two-swing signal-assisted ratiometric PEC biosensor. Specifically, target recognition triggers the release of the signal tag CdS quantum dots, causing the first cathode-to-anode signal inversion. Subsequent ultraviolet (UV) light-induced DNA cleavage clears the electrode interface, resulting in the second conversion from anode to cathode. The recorded photocurrents from the two polarity conversions are employed as the detection and reference signals to complete the ratiometric measurements. The combination of signal-switching strategy and ratiometric sensing approach allows the sensor to simultaneously improve the anti-interference capability, sensitivity, and accuracy in a simple process. Satisfactory detection performance is obtained in the range of 1 fg/mL∼1 ng/mL. Benefiting from the UV-triggered reversible signal generation mechanism, the proposed sensor simplifies the process of obtaining reference signals, which greatly improves the portability of the ratiometric sensor and provides new ideas for the development of miniature devices.

Abstract:Herein, we fabricated a label-free ECL immunosensor for aflatoxin B 1 (AFB 1 ) detection. In this system, a small organic aggregation-induced electrochemiluminescence luminophore, 2,5-di-tetraphenylethylene-ylthiazolo [5,4-d] thiazole, was designed, named TPETTZ. Polyaniline-wrapped TiO 2 nanoparticles (PANI/TiO 2 NPs) complex was synthesized through one-step in situ oxidation polymerization of aniline, and performed excellent electrical conductivity and abundant amino groups. As an ECL accelerator, TiO 2 nanoparticles (TiO 2 NPs) promoted the oxidation of tri- n -propylamine (TPA) to generate more TPA • ; in addition, it also acted as a donor to improve the ECL intensity of TPETTZ (acceptor) through electrochemiluminescence resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET). Encouraged by the above, under the existence of TPA, TPETTZ displayed a strong and continuously stable ECL anode signal due to the introduction of PANI/TiO 2 NPs. Therefore, the immunosensor was constructed for AFB 1 detection based on the quenching effect of target on the ECL signal, and a linearly decreasing ECL signal was obtained as the increasement of AFB 1 in the range of 75 fg/mL to 100 ng/mL, with a lower detection limit of 27.5 fg/mL. Moreover, the as-prepared sensing platform performed a satisfactory anti-interference, stability, and reproducibility, and appeared a good accuracy in walnut sample analysis, presenting a promising application in the future.

Fabrication of a high-performance photoelectrochemical aptamer sensor based on Er-MOF nanoballs functionalized with ionic liquid and gold nanoparticles for aflatoxin B1 detection

Abstract:One of the most dangerous mycotoxins is Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) that is commonly found in food. Thus, AFB1 has been considered as a serious food safety concern. Herein, using Er-MOF nanoballs assembled with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as photoactive elements, a photoelectrochemical aptasensor with high analytical performance was developed for sensing AFB1. Er-MOFs nanoballs were prepared by using ionic liquid as a ligand and Er 3+ as a metal center through a solvothermal method. Chloroauric acid was reduced in-situ onto Er-MOF nanoballs to form nanocomposites. AuNPs can effectively enhance the photocurrent of Er-MOF nanoballs attributed to their excellent conductivity and local surface plasma resonance effect. In addition, they can provide active sites for immobilizing more biorecognition elements that can further enhance the sensing performance. Through self-assembling reaction, thiol-functionalized hairpin DNA (hDNA) was immobilized onto an interface to construct a photoelectrochemical biosensing platform. As the AFB1 aptamers labeled with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs-Apt) were selectively recognized, the photocurrent response can be further amplified. Due to the high affinity of AFB1 and its aptamer (Apt), when Apt is reacted with AFB1, it causes AuNPs-Apt detaching from the PEC aptasensing interface, and thus a reduced photocurrent response is generated. Under optimized conditions, the changes of photocurrent before and after recognition of AFB1 exhibits a linear response from 0.005 to 10.0 ng mL -1 . In addition, the limit of detection obtained was 19.6 fg mL -1 . This PEC aptasensor provides relatively high selectivity, reproducibility and accuracy in the determination of AFB1 in real corn samples.
A surface-enhanced Raman scattering aptasensor for output-signal detection of aflatoxin B1 based on peroxidase-like Cu2O@Au hybrid nanozyme

Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) as toxic secondary metabolite significantly threatens human health. Hence, we designed a reliable “target control signal output” surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) aptasensor based on catalytic reaction and signal amplification induced by bifunctional semiconductor-bimetallic plasmonic assemblies to monitor AFB1 contamination. SH-modified AFB1 aptamers were coupled to hollow Au–Ag NPs with enhanced SERS features, enabling rapid identification of AFB1. As artificial nanoenzymes, self-assembled Cu2O@Au NCs with peroxidase-like activity produced synergistic catalytic enhancement effects. Complementary chain-modified Cu2O@Au NCs promoted the construction of bifunctional composites. Besides, the preferred binding of the aptamer to AFB1 triggered the dissociation of Au–Ag NPs, causing the reduced SERS effect. Then, in the 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) reaction mediated by nanoenzymes, oxidation products (ox TMB) with intrinsic Raman signals appeared, which were ideal quantitative signal. Compared with the labeled detection, the novel post-output mode of SERS signal reduced the signal fluctuation in the sensor construction and improved the accuracy of the results. Thus, the aptasensor exhibited a strong negative linear correlation (R2 = 0.991) in the AFB1 concentration ranging from 0.001 ng/mL to 100 ng/mL, and the detection limit (LOD) was 0.7 pg/mL, indicating that the integration of SERS and enzymatic reactions has potential application prospects in test technology.
Ingenious Electrochemiluminescence Bioaptasensor Based on Synergistic Effects and Enzyme-Driven Programmable 3D DNA Nanoflowers for Ultrasensitive Detection of Aflatoxin B1

Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), one of the most toxic mycotoxins, has undergone a wide range of studies over the years. The development of rapid, simple, and sensitive analytical methods remains a major challenge for the accurate detection of AFB1 in foodstuffs. In this study, we designed an enhanced and stable ingenious electrochemiluminescence bioaptasensor (IEC-BA) for ultrasensitive detection of AFB1 based on the synergistic effects and enzyme-driven programmable assembled 3D DNA nanoflowers (EPDNs). This synergistic effect was comprised by the competitive impact on auxiliary probes (AP) and the cutting effect of the Hae III. Compared to the traditional aptamer direct-competition method, the synergistic effects ensured that the aptamer was more efficiently and adequately competed away by the target. Also, the redundant double-stranded probes were removed, which greatly facilitates simple, quick, and sensitive detection of AFB1. Besides, a large chunk of positively charged Ru(II) complexes (Ru(bpy)32+) was accumulated by the utilization of EPDNs, which resulted in tremendous improvement of the sensitivity of the designed method. Thus, even in the presence of trace amounts of AFB1, a sharply visual electrochemiluminescent signal was generated. The proposed method can realize the quantification of AFB1 with a good linear range from 1 ppt (pg mL–1) to 5 ppb (ng mL–1) with a detection limit of 0.27 ppt. In addition, it can also be successfully applied for the analysis of AFB1 in a peanut and wheat, with total recoveries ranging from 93.7 to 106.6%. Abstract:This work describes a novel "off-on" biosensor for super-sensitive and selective detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). In the biosensor, electrochemiluminescence (ECL) and aggregation-induced emission (AIE) work together to enhance ECL performance by a dibenzo-[b,d]thiophene sulfone-based conjugated microporous polymer, and hairpin DNA1 (H1) and ferrocene (Fc)-apt act as the switches for the "off-on" mode. In the absence of target AFB1, the ECL signal is inhibited because of the steric-hindrance effect, and the biosensor remains in the "off" state. In the presence of AFB1, ECL signal recovery is observed caused by the specific recognition between the AFB1 and Fc-apt, i.e., the biosensor changes to the "on" state. Under optimal experimental conditions, AFB1 can be quantified from 1 pg·mL −1 to 1 μg·mL −1 with an ultralow detection limit of 0.46 pg·mL −1 by the "off-on" biosensor. The biosensor exhibited good practicability for AFB1 assay in corn samples, thus providing a simple and sensitive method for monitoring food safety.

A Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Aptasensor for Ratiometric Detection of Aflatoxin B1 Based on Graphene Oxide-Au@ag Core-Shell Nanoparticles Complex

Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) has the strongest carcinogenesis and mutagenesis effects. Herein, a novel ratiometric surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) aptasensor based on graphene oxide (GO) as a corrective internal standard (IS) and signal amplifier was constructed for reliable detection of AFB1. 4-Mercaptobenzoic acid as Raman reporter embedded in Au@Ag core-shell nanoparticles and AFB1aptamer conjugated to the Ag shell acted as the signal probes (Au-4MBA@Ag NPs-AFB1apt). AFB1apt was attached to the surface of GO with Raman signals modified Au NPs/Indium tin oxide glass (GO/Au NPs/ITO) via pi-pi stacking interaction, facilitating further amplification of the signal. With an increase of AFB1 concentration (0.0001 ng/mL-100 ng/mL), the probes were released owing to the affinity of aptamers, causing the decreased 4-MBA intensity (I4-MBA) and unchanged GO intensity (IGO). Therefore, the quantitative test was achieved based on the ratiometric value (I4MBA/IGO). A good negative correlation (R2 = 0.992) was achieved and the limit of detection (LOD) was as low as 0.1 pg/mL, proving the proposed sensor can become an efficient analytical tool and shows a bright application prospect in the food detection field.
In Situ Heterojunction-based PEC Sensor Coupled with LSPR for Sensitive Detection of Aflatoxin B1

Abstract:To enhance the performance of photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensors, heterojunction construction is a workable technique. However, the interface defects inside the structure are often ignored. In this work, an innovative photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor based on a "turn-off" PEC model was constructed using the synergistic effects of in situ growing heterojunction and local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) to detect aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) instantly. In situ heterojunctions were constructed based on bismuth-based perovskite, and the internal electric field spontaneously established during the growth process can effectively compensate for the interfacial defects and promote the separation and transfer of e-/h+ pairs. Moreover, the gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) LSPR effect can improve PEC performance by enhancing the light trapping ability of the material. The PEC sensor's detecting area for AFB1 analysis is 10.0 fg/ml-100 ng/mL, and the detection limit is 4.34 fg/mL. Good stability, reproducibility, and selectivity underscore the sensor's suitability for meeting the requirements of food quality monitoring.

Bidirectional hybridized hairpin DNA fluorescent aptasensor based on Au-Pd NPs and CDs for ratiometric detection of AFB1

Abstract:A novel and simple ratiometric fluorescent aptasensor was developed for the sensitive detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). A hairpin DNA (h-DNA) was independently synthesized as the basic skeleton, and the bidirectional hybridization of h-DNA can increase the load of aptamer and signal probes, thereby realizing signal amplification. The high-efficiency fluorescence resonance energy transfer interaction between gold-palladium nanoparticles (Au-Pd NPs) and the self-synthesized fluorescent probe carbon dots (CDs) was utilized. Moreover, the label-free probe SYBR Green I (SG I) dye was introduced to form a double-signal probe with CDs, and a ratiometric sensor with FCDs/FSG I as a response signal was constructed. The ratio strategy can eliminate the fluctuation of external factors, thus improving the accuracy and reliability of the sensor. The quenching effect of Au-Pd NPs on CDs was 1.4 times that of AuNPs and 3.4 times that of Pd NPs, respectively. In the range 1-100 ng/mL, FCDs/FSG I showed a good linear relationship with the logarithm of the concentration of AFB1, and the limit of detection was as low as 0.07 ng/mL. The sensor was used to detect AFB1 in spiked peanuts and wine samples, and the recovery was between 91 and 115%, indicating that the sensor has high application potential in real sample analysis.

Abstract:As one of the most toxic chemical substances, aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) has a strong carcinogenic effect even at a trace level in human and animal, which severely threatens human health and even causes cancers. Therefore, ultrasensitive detection of AFB1 is of significant importance. For such analysis, dual II-scheme sheet-like Bi2S3/Bi2O3/Ag2S heterostructures were prepared by the in-situ growth method, which exhibited high separation efficiency for the electron-hole (e--h+) pairs, prominent stability, and high photoactivity. Moreover, the dendritic nanorod-like Au@Pd@Pt (Au@Pd@Pt DNRs) nanozyme was homely synthesized, whose peroxidase-like activity was scrupulously investigated by catalytical oxidation of diaminobenzidine (DAB) in the presence of H2O2. Integration by the aptasensing strategy, a photoelectrochemical (PEC) "signal-on" aptasensor was prepared, which exhibited a broader linear range of 0.5 pg mL-1-100 ng mL-1 with a lower limit of detection (LOD = 0.09 pg mL-1, S/N = 3). This work provides a feasible strategy to develop advanced PEC biosensors for actual analysis of environmental pollutants.

A ratiometric electrochemiluminescent/electrochemical strategy based on novel designed BPYHBF nanorod and Fc-MOF with tungsten for ultrasensitive AFB1 detection

Abstract:Fluorescent dyes have been considered as one of the most potential candidates for electrochemiluminescence (ECL) reagent due to the excellent photophysical and electrochemical characteristics in recent years. However, the severe self-absorption effect caused by narrow stokes shift inevitably limits its application for ECL. In this work, a new type of ECL emitter, 4,4-difluoro-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene derivative, a BF2 complex of hydrazine-schiff base linked bispyrrole, namely BPYHBF, was prepared and employed as a probe to label the competitor of target in the immunosensor, which could emit powerful ECL signal with tri-n-propylamine. The structure and ECL property of BPYHBF were investigated. Additionally, multi-walled carbon nanotube/ferrocenecarboxaldehyde-metal organic framework (MWCNTs/Fc-MOF) as sensing substrate for Ab1 incubation was synthesized, where the large specific surface area and stable internal reference electrochemical signals improved the sensitivity and reliability of the sensor by self-correction. Herein, a novel ratiometric competitive immunosensor based on the ECLBPYHBF/DPVFc was prepared for ultrasensitive detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). The ratio value is linear in the range from 10 fg/mL to 100 ng/mL, and the detection limit is 5.39 fg/mL. The prepared sensor exhibited excellent sensitivity, accuracy and reproducibility, and achieved satisfactory detection towards AFB1 in actual samples, this demonstrates a promising application in biomolecules detection.

Abstract:Aflatoxin B 1 (AFB 1 ), classified as a class I carcinogen, is a widespread mycotoxin that poses a serious threat to public health and economic development, and the food safety problems caused by AFB 1 have aroused worldwide concern. The development of accurate and sensitive methods for the detection of AFB 1 is significant for food safety monitoring. In this work, a sandwich-type photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensor for AFB 1 detection was constructed on the basis of an aptamer–antibody structure. A good photocurrent response was obtained due to the sensitization of In 2 S 3 by Ru(bpy) 3 2+ . In addition, this sandwich-type sensor constructed by modification with the antibody, target detector, and aptamer layer by layer attenuated the migration hindering effect of photogenerated carriers caused by the double antibody structure. The aptamer and antibody synergistically recognized and captured the target analyte, resulting in more reliable PEC response signals. CdSe@CdS QDs-Apt were modified as a signal-off probe onto the sensor platform to quantitatively detect AFB 1 with a "signal-off" response, which enhanced the sensitivity of the sensor. The PEC biosensor showed a linear response range from 10 −12 to 10 −6 g mL −1 with a detection limit of 0.023 pg mL −1 , providing a feasible approach for the quantitative detection of AFB 1 in food samples.

Abstract:Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are often used as carriers in the preparation of electrochemiluminescent (ECL) materials, and ECL materials stabilized in the aqueous phase can be prepared by encapsulating chromophores inside MOFs by an in situ growth method. In this study, nanocomposites MIL-88B(Fe)-NH2@Ru(py)32+ with excellent ECL response were prepared by encapsulating Tris(2,2'-bipyridine)ruthenium dichloride (Ru(py)32+) inside MIL-88B(Fe)-NH2 using the one-step hydrothermal method. MIL-88B(Fe)-NH2 possesses abundant amino groups, which can accelerate the catalytic activation process of K2S2O8, and its abundant pores are also conducive to the enhancement of the transmission rate of co-reactant agents, ions, and electrons, which effectively improves the ECL efficiency. In order to obtain more excellent ECL signals, we prepared aminated biochar (NH2-biochar) using Pu-erh tea dregs as precursor and loaded gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) on its surface as substrate material for modified electrodes. Both NH2-biochar and Au NPs can also be used as a co-reactant promoter to catalyze the activation process of co-reactant K2S2O8. Therefore, a sandwich-type ECL immunosensor was prepared based on a dual signal-enhanced strategy for the highly sensitive and selective detection of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). Under the optimal experimental conditions, the sensitive detection of AFB1 was achieved in the range of 1 pg·mL-1~100 ng·mL-1 with a detection limit of 209 fg·mL-1. The proposed dual signal-enhanced ECL immunosensor can provide a simple, convenient, and efficient method for the sensitive detection of AFB1 in food and agricultural products.

Abstract:Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) leads to considerable pollution to grains and causes harmful effects on human health. Herein, we present a regenerable AFB1 aptasensor, based on electro-oxidation conducted host-guest dissociation for natural AFB1 detection. Molybdenum disulfide-Au nanobipyramids (MoS 2 -AuNBPs) serve as signal carriers and are equipped with indicative thionine (Thi) and semi-complementary chains to AFB1 aptamer (ssDNA). The electrode surface is modified with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD). Aptamer-ferrocene (Apt-Fc) can be recognized in cavity of β-CD through host-guest interaction. The signal probe, self-assembled with AFB1 Apt via hybridization, can be easily expelled by AFB1, bringing a ratiometric readout Δ I Thi / I Fc . Particularly, regeneration process is realized with synergy of AFB1-conducted Apt-ssDNA dissociation and electro-oxidation conducted host (β-CD)-guest (Fc) dissociation. Modifications and regeneration behaviors are morphologically and electrochemically validated. Regenerations are dependably performed in repetitive cycles (N = 7), which exhibit considerable performance in analyses. Electro-oxidation time is experimentally optimized (6 min). This method exhibits wide range from 1.0 pg/mL to 80.0 ng/mL, and limit of detection is 5.0 × 10 −1 pg/mL, to target AFB1. During natural AFB1 determinations, proposed readouts are validated with certified HPLC and recovery test. Relative errors and recovery rates are calculated as 2.04–7.22% and 94.41–106.54%, respectively.

Abstract:A new strategy for enhancing the photoelectric activity of poly(5-formylindole) (P5FIn) was developed by introducing the inorganic semiconductor material (NiO) to form organic-inorganic heterojunctions. P5FIn/NiO heterojunctions were firstly prepared by combining hydrothermal synthesis and electrochemical polymerization. Due to the synergistic effect between P5FIn and NiO, the photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance of this heterojunction was significantly enhanced compared to pure P5FIn and NiO. The reason for the enhanced PEC performance is mainly attributed to the increased visible light utilization and the bandgap matching effect of the P5FIn/NiO heterojunctions. Based on the prepared P5FIn/NiO heterojunctions, a novel PEC sensor for aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) detection was also constructed with a wide linear range of 0.005-50 ng mL-1 and a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.0015 ng mL-1. Moreover, this constructed PEC sensor also had good stability, reproducibility, selectivity, and satisfactory actual sample detection ability. This strategy may inspire more design and application of high-performance photoelectric active material based on inorganic semiconductor and organic conducting polymer heterojunctions.
