Abstract:The burgeoning global mushroom industry has precipitated challenges related to the efficient and sustainable utilization of spent mushroom substrate (SMS). Composting is regarded as an efficient way for the ecological utilization of SMS. The addition of microbial inoculants can promote the composting process and improve the quality of compost products. This study introduced two bacterial inoculants, Bacillus paralicheniformis HL-05 (BP) and Streptomyces thermoviolaceus LC-10 (ST), into the composting process of SMS. The impact of these inoculants was evaluated through analyses of physicochemical properties, lignocellulose degradation, and high-throughput sequencing to elucidate their ecological roles and optimize the composting process. The results suggest that inoculation with BP and ST significantly prolonged the thermophilic stage by 2-3 days, representing an increase of 22.22-33.33%. Moreover, it boosted the degradation rates of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin by 18.37-29.77%, 35.74-50.43%, and 40.32-40.83%, respectively, compared to the control. Furthermore, inoculation rapidly altered the microbial community structure during the rapid temperature-rising stage and strengthened interconnections among composting microorganisms. The microbial inoculation substantially enhanced the proliferation of thermophilic lignocellulose-degrading microorganisms during the thermophilic stage, thereby facilitating the utilization of lignocellulose. This study proposes a novel and effective strategy for SMS composting using microbial inoculants.

Abstract:A lab-scale composting experiment was carried out using vegetable and flower stalks waste to study the effectiveness of ligno-cellulolytic microorganisms (LCMs) obtained from the previous isolation on composting process, especially on enhancement of biodegradation rate of these organic materials. The addition of LCMs to compost showed promised to be a valuable asset by rendering timely benefits in efficiency, maturity, and quality of the composting. This was evidenced by a significant increase of temperature, O-2 consumption and CO2 emission, and population density of LCMs in compost mass compared with that of biotic (addition of culture of horse feces) and abiotic (1% molasses amendment) treatments, as well as control trial. The phytotoxicity assay showed that the substrate became mature after 60 days' composting. The LCMs inoculation enhanced the biodegradation of the composting materials as evidenced by an increasing screening ratio (1.2cm sieve pore) of 34.5% in the treated trail, compared with that of control, which elucidated that big advantage of adding selected inoculants over other treatment, and screening ratio is a reasonable index to compare the quality of different compost. However, the inoculation seemed to have no significant effect on the moisture content, pH, and the final organic carbon of the composting materials.

Abstract:Aerobic composting of cellulosic biomass is difficult to start at low temperatures. Especially, the effect of microbial inoculants on the initiation of aerobic composting of cellulosic material at low temperature and the succession of microbial community is still poorly defined. In this study, the aerobic composting of mushroom residue and wood chips successfully started at 3-11ºC by inoculating the microbial agents (including bacteria and fungi) for cellulose degradation and low temperature adaptation. It was found that the inoculum was beneficial for the heating of the compost pile, starting of the aerobic composting process and the degradation of cellulose. The thermophilic stage of inoculation group lasted for 13 days and 8 days longer than that of control group. The degradation efficiencies of hemicellulose and cellulose in inoculation group and control group were 37.50% and 27.30%, while the degradation efficiencies of cellulose were 21.29% and 16.18%, respectively. Furthermore, the results of high-throughput sequencing revealed that inoculation of microbial agents was beneficial to the optimization of community structure and the conversion of cellulose substrate. In addition, the inoculated strains of Aspergillus, Penicillium, Bacillus and Streptomyces might play active roles in the composting process, especially in the set-up and thermophilic stage of the composting.

Abstract:The impacts of three cellulose-degradation fungi isolated from compost on CO2 release from fermentation of organic solid wastes and the effects of the fermentation on CO2 enrichment in greenhouse were studied by carrying out an incubation experiment and a trial in greenhouse.Although all three cellulose-degradation fungi(fungus A,fungus B and fungus C) could accelerate CO2 release from fermentation of organic wastes,fungus A and fungus C were more efficient comparing to fungus B.The treatment inoculated with the mixture of three fungi showed the best results on CO2 release.The concentration of CO2 in greenhouse was lower than 300 μL/L during the majority of daytime,indicating CO2 is deficient.CO2 concentration in greenhouse could also largely be improved by fermentation of organic solid wastes without fungus inoculation,but the effective duration only lasts around 9 days.The fastigium and effective duration of CO2 release could be significantly prolonged by inoculating fermentation medium with the mixture of three fungi,which could maintain CO2 concentration higher than 800 μL/L during daytime for at least 14 days.

Abstract:Inoculation could effectively improve the quality of composting. However, an inappropriate C/N ratio would limit microbial activity. Thus, it is necessary to develop microbial inoculums (MIs), which could adopt the inappropriate C/N ratio. To close this gap, the co-cultured strains with higher cellulose activity under high C/N ratio and low C/N ratio as MI A and MI B, respectively. Adding MI B to the high nitrogen material piles and MI A to the high carbon material piles could promote lignocellulose degradation rate for 1.35 to 1.84 times. Adding specific inoculum could increase the relative abundance of functional genera for ~1.5 times and made them dominant. Furthermore, inoculated strains could serve as the unique key genus to strengthen the complexity of microbial network for 1.08 to 1.31 times. Therefore, specific inoculation has the potential to enhance microbial cooperation to make microbes to adapt to the inappropriate C/N ratio.

Abstract:There are few reports on the material transformation and dominant microorganisms in the process of greening waste (GW) composting. In this study, the target microbial community succession and material transformation were studied in GW composting by using MiSeq sequencing and PICRUSt tools. The results showed that the composting process could be divided into four phases. Each phase of the composting appeared in turn and was unable to jump. In the calefactive phase, microorganisms decompose small molecular organics such as FA to accelerate the arrival of the thermophilic phase. In the thermophilic phase, thermophilic microorganisms decompose HA and lignocellulose to produce FA. While in the cooling phase, microorganisms degrade HA and FA for growth and reproduction. In the maturation phase, microorganisms synthesize humus using FA, amino acid and lignin nuclei as precursors. In the four phases of the composting, different representative genera of bacteria and fungi were detected. Streptomyces, Myceliophthora and Aspergillus, maintained high abundance in all phases of the compost. Correlation analysis indicated that bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi had synergistic effect on the degradation of lignocellulose. Therefore, it can accelerate the compost process by maintaining the thermophilic phase and adding a certain amount of FA in the maturation phase.

Abstract:The aim of this study was to reveal the mechanism by which co-inoculation with both Trichoderma viridis and Bacillus subtilis improved the efficiency of composting and degradation of lignocellulose in agricultural waste. The results showed that co-inoculation with Trichoderma and Bacillus increased abundance of Bacteroidota to promote the maturation 7 days in advance. Galbibacter may be a potential marker of co-inoculation composting efficiency compost. The compost became dark brown, odorless, and had a carbon to nitrogen ratio of 16.40 and a pH of 8.2. Moreover, Actinobacteriota and Firmicutes still dominated the degradation of lignocellulose following inoculation with Trichoderma or Bacillus 35 days after composting. Bacterial function prediction analysis showed that carbohydrate metabolism was the primary metabolic pathway. In conclusion, co-inoculation with Trichoderma and Bacillus shortened the composting cycle and accelerated the degradation of lignocellulose. These findings provide new strategies for the efficient use of agricultural waste to produce organic fertilizers.

Abstract:Inoculation with exogenous microbial agents is a common method to promote organic waste degradation and improve the quality of compost. However, the biotic effects of different microbial agents are often quite different. To evaluate the potential effects of a complex bacterial agent comprised of three strains (belonging to Bacillus and Geobacillus ) on lignocellulose degradation and the underlying microbial mechanisms during cow dung composting, two lab-scale composting experiments, a control and a bacterial inoculation treatment, were established. The results suggest that bacterial inoculation accelerated the rate of temperature increase and extended the thermophilic phase. Compared to those in the negative control group, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin degradation rates in the inoculated group increased from 53.3% to 70.0%, 50.2% to 61.3%, and 46.4% to 60.0%, respectively. The microbial community structure and diversity in the compost were clearly changed by the bacterial inoculation. Moreover, stamp analysis showed that inoculation modulated the key compost microbial functional populations linked to the degradation of lignocellulose. Correlation matrix analysis indicated that the expression of bacterial lignocellulolytic enzymes is closely related to key microbial functional populations. Overall, the results confirm the importance of bacterial inoculation, and have important implications for promoting the efficiency and quality of cow dung compost. The effects of three Bacillus and Geobacillus strains on compost were established. Adding the complex bacterial agent increased the thermophilic phase. Inoculation promoted the abundance of key lignocellulose-degrading microbes. These findings will help promote the efficiency and quality of cow dung compost. GRAPHICAL

Abstract:The effective lignin-degrading strains mesophilic Sordaria tomentoalba (MSDA1) and thermophilic Thermomyces lanuginosus (HDGA2) were screened and used for the directional humification of garden waste (GW) composting. The strains MSDA1 and HDGA2 demonstrated significant Laccase (Lac), Lignin peroxidase (LiP), and Manganese peroxidase (MnP) activities, of which MnP activity was the highest at 746.31 U/L and 901.48 U/L, respectively. The composting BA-1 group was inoculated with the fungi MSDA1, HDGA2, M1 (mesophilic cellulose-degrading strain Aspergillus oryzae ), and ZJ3 (thermophilic cellulose-degrading strain Thermoascus aurantiacus ) on day 0, while BA-2 group was inoculated with the fungi MSDA1 and M1 on day 0 and the fungi HDGA2 and ZJ3 on day 3, respectively. The attained humic acid (HA) was 122.2 g/kg and 131.81 g/kg in BA-1 and BA-2 groups, respectively, significantly higher than the control group (72.97 g/kg). The organic matter contents of BA-2 (51.28%) were higher than that of CK (30.55%) and BA-1 (22.04%), and HA/fulvic acid (FA) were 1.26 (CK), 2.04 (BA-1) and 3.10 (BA-2), respectively. The results revealed that bioaugmentation could promote the directional humification by providing more FA precursors with the addition of lignocellulosic degradation fungi. Ammonium nitrogen ( NH4+−N ) could be fixed by FA during the high-temperature period, promoting NH4+−N being assimilated into amino acids and then converted to HA. Bioaugmentation effectively increased the HA and N content of the compost. The sequential addition of mesophilic and thermophilic fungi improved the quality of the directional humification compost.

Abstract:This work aimed to investigate the microbial mechanisms for the improvement of composting efficiency driven by the compound microbial inoculum (MI) ( Bacillus subtilis SL-44, Enterobacter hormaechei Rs-189 and Trichoderma reesei ) during co-composting of spent mushroom substrate (SMS) and chicken manure (CM). The treatments used in the study were as follows: 1) MI (inoculation with microbial inoculum), 2) CI (inoculation with commercial microbial inoculum), and 3) CK (without inoculation). The results demonstrated that MI increased the seed germination index (GI) by 25.11%, and contents of humus, humic acid (HA) and available phosphorus (AP) were correspondingly promoted by 12.47%, 25.93% and 37.16%, respectively. The inoculation of MI increased the temperature of the thermophilic stage by 3–7 °C and achieved a cellulose degradation rate of 52.87%. 16S rRNA gene analysis indicated that Actinobacteria (11.73–61.61%), Firmicutes (9.46–65.07%), Proteobacteria (2.86–32.17%) and Chloroflexi (0.51–10.92%) were the four major phyla during the inoculation composting. Bacterial metabolic functional analysis revealed that pathways involved in amino acid and glycan biosynthesis and metabolism were boosted in the thermophilic phase. There was a positive correlation between bacterial communities and temperature, humification and phosphorus fractions. The average dry weight, fresh weight and seedling root length in the seedling substrates adding MI compost were 1.13, 1.23 and 1.06 times higher than those of the CK, respectively. This study revealed that biological inoculation could improve the composting quality and efficiency, potentially benefiting the resource utilization of agricultural waste resources.

Development of functional consortia for the pretreatment of compostable lignocellulosic waste: A simple and effective solution to a large-scale problem

Abstract:Microorganisms drive the degradation of organic matter thanks to their enzymatic versatility. However, the structure of lignocellulose poses a great challenge for the microbiota inhabiting a compost pile. Our purpose was to increase the biodegradability of vegetable waste in the early stages of the composting process by applying a microbial consortium with lignocelllulolytic capacity. For this, a previous screening was performed among the culturable microbiota from different composting processes to find inoculants with ligninocellulolytic activity. Selected strains were applied as a pure culture and as a microbial consortium. The starting material was composed of tomato plant and pruning remains mixed in a ratio (50:50 v/v), whose humidity was adjusted to around 65%. To determine the ability of both treatments to activate the biodegradation of the mixtures, moisture, organic matter, ash, C/N ratio, 4-day cumulative respirometric index (AT4) and degradation rates of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin were evaluated. Subsequently, a real composting process was developed in which the performance of the microbial consortium was compared with the composting process without inoculum (control). According to our tests, three microbial strains (Bacillus safensis, Bacillus licheniformis and Fusarium oxysporum) were selected. The results showed that the application of the bacteria strains at low doses (104 CFU g-1 on the complete residual material of the pile) resulted in higher rates of lignocelullose degradation after 10 days of treatment compared to that observed after application of the fungus in pure culture or untreated controls. The implementation of the strategy described in this work resulted in obtaining compost with better agronomic quality than the uninoculated controls. Therefore, the application of this consortium could be considered as an interesting tool for bioactivation of lignocellulosic waste prior to the composting process.
Enhancing the compost maturation of swine manure and rice straw by applying bioaugmentation

Abstract:Abstract Microorganisms capable of decomposing cellulose, xylan, starch and protein were individually isolated from swine manure compost and soil in this study. The correlations with pH, carbon source concentration, C/N ratio and enzyme activity among these isolated microorganisms were also investigated. Furthermore, the effect of additional inoculation in the compost was studied by measuring variations in the C/N ratio, enzyme activity and compost maturation rate. The inoculated microorganisms used in this study included four bacterial isolates and one commercial microorganism Phanerochaete chrysosporium . The results indicated that the isolated Kitasatospora phosalacinea strain C1, which is a cellulose-degraded microorganism, presented the highest enzyme activity at 31 °C and pH 5.5, while the C/N ratio was 0.8%. The isolated xylan-degraded microorganism Paenibacillus glycanilyticus X1 had the highest enzyme activity at 45 °C and pH 7.5, while the C/N ratio was 0.5%. The starch-degraded microorganism was identified as Bacillus licheniformis S3, and its highest enzyme activities were estimated to be 31 °C and pH 7.5 while the C/N ratio was 0.8%. The highest enzyme activity of the protein-degraded microorganism Brevinacillus agri E4 was obtained at 45 °C and pH 8.5, while the C/N ratio was 1.0%. The rate of temperature increase in the compost inoculated with P. chrysosporium was only higher than that of the compost without inoculation, and its compost maturation level was also lower than that of other composts with additional inoculation. The optimal initial C/N ratio of the compost was 27.5 and the final C/N ratio was 18.9. The composting results also indicated that the secondary inoculation would benefit compost maturation, and the lowest final C/N ratio of 17.0 was obtained.

Abstract:There is escalating interest in composting of post-consumption food waste (PCFW) to recycle nutrients and mitigate pollution by inappropriate disposal. The present study aimed to evaluate the performance of bioaugmentation to composting of PCFW, which is in difficulties caused by high sugar, protein and gross lipid content. Inoculation of the microbial consortium effectively induced rapid temperature and pH rising, which led to OM reduction rate at 25.11 % and maturity at 150 % in terms of Germination Index value. EEMs-FRI showed that humification was accelerated in the thermophilic stage and further improved in the mature stage. Bacterial community analysis revealed that microbial inoculant ameliorated acidification, and expedited temperature and pH rising in the initial stage, which in turn accelerated bacteria community succession. The abundance of Actinobacteria was much higher in the thermophilic and mature stage in T2 treatment than in T1, which might explain rapid organic degradation. High temperature enriched thermophilic genera ( Thermobifida , Compostibacillus , Neobacillus ), and Pseudonocardia and Actinoplanes were enriched in the mature stage, which correlated to effective degradation of organic matter, humification and maturity. Temperature and pH mainly motivated bacterial succession. The results suggest that bioaugmentation is a favorable approach for efficient composting of PCFW.

Abstract:Microbial activity and interaction are the important driving factors in the start-up phase of food waste composting at low temperature. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of inoculating Bacillus licheniformis on the degradation of organic components and the potential microbe-driven mechanism from the aspects of organic matter degradation, enzyme activity, microbial community interaction, and microbial metabolic function. The results showed that after inoculating B. licheniformis, temperature increased to 47.8°C on day 2, and the degradation of readily degraded carbohydrates (RDC) increased by 31.2%, and the bioheat production increased by 16.5%. There was an obvious enhancement of extracellular enzymes activities after inoculation, especially amylase activity, which increased by 7.68 times on day 4. The inoculated B. licheniformis colonized in composting as key genus in the start-up phase. Modular network analysis and Mantel test indicated that inoculation drove the cooperation between microbial network modules who were responsible for various organic components (RDC, lipid, protein, and lignocellulose) degradation in the start-up phase. Metabolic function prediction suggested that carbohydrate metabolisms including starch and sucrose metabolism, glycolysis / gluconeogenesis, pyruvate metabolism, etc., were improved by increasing the abundance of related functional genes after inoculation. In conclusion, inoculating B. licheniformis accelerated organic degradation by driving the cooperation between microbial network modules and enhancing microbial metabolism in the start-up phase of composting.

Abstract:Low ambient temperature become the limiting factor of composting in cold regions, thus hindering the recycle of agricultural and forestry wastes. In this study, the composting of mushroom residue and wood chips (MRWC) under low temperature was successfully implemented with inoculation of psychrotolerant cellulolytic microbial agent. Composting entered thermophilic stage on third day and the peak temperature reached to 66.25 °C. After 84 days of composting, the degradation rate of cellulose and hemicellulose was 40.85% and 100%, respectively and the compost product was completely mature and met the requirements of organic fertilizer. Metagenomic and transcriptome sequencing were applied to reveal the microbial composition and their substrates conversion functions and adaptation mechanisms through low to high temperatures. Streptomyces , Mesorhizobium , Devosia , Aspergillus and Mucor were dominant genera in the microbial community that were rich in genes of lignocellulose degradation. Various genes related to low temperature adaptation (fatty acid, trehalose, mannitol, betaine metabolism and cold shock mechanism) and high temperature tolerance (heat shock and antioxidant) were detected during MRWC composting. These results indicated that microbes during composting constituted a high-efficiency lignocellulosic ultilization system in cold conditions. Besides, the microbes of microbial agent, especially Streptomyces and Aspergillus , possessed numerous genes involving in lignocellulose degradation and temperature adaptation and quite different temperature response patterns were found to perform in bacteria and fungi. The transcription levels of most these genes in Aspergillus exhibited significant differences under different substrates and temperature conditions, suggesting that the inoculum was crucial to the composting process and beneficial to maintain the temperature of piles. This study demonstrated that the application of psychrotolerant microbes was a promising strategy to increase the efficiency of composting in cold regions and these results could also provided the guidance for optimizing microbial agent.

Abstract:This study investigated effects of composite microbes (CMs) (Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Trichoderma longibrachiatum) on humification during co-composting of biogas residue, spent mushroom substrate and rice straw. Results showed that CMs inoculation elevated degradation ratios of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin by 7.86%, 8.87% and 6.45%, and contents of humus and humic acid were correspondingly promoted by 15.5% and 23.6%, respectively. Relative abundances of bacteria associated with refractory macromolecules degradation (Flavobacterium, Anseongella and Actinomadura) and cellulolytic fungi (Hypocreales_Incertae_sedis, Hypocreaceae and Psathyrellaceae) were raised by CMs addition. Redundancy analysis demonstrated a positive correlation between microbial communities and temperature, fulvic acid and lignocellulose contents. Moreover, CMs inoculation promoted pathways of xenobiotics biodegradation and metabolism, and biosynthesis of other secondary metabolites, which was closely associated with lignocellulose degradation and humus formation. These results suggested that biological inoculation could enhance composting efficiency and improve compost quality, benefiting biogas residues composting.

Abstract:Abstract Background Pleurotus ostreatus is an edible mushroom popularly cultivated worldwide. Distilled grain waste (DGW) is a potential substrate for P. ostreatus cultivation. However, components in DGW restrict P. ostreatus mycelial growth. Therefore, a cost-effective approach to facilitate rapid P. ostreatus colonization on DGW substrate will benefit P. ostreatus cultivation and DGW recycling. Results Five dominant indigenous bacteria, Sphingobacterium sp. X1, Ureibacillus sp. X2, Pseudoxanthomonas sp. X3, Geobacillus sp. X4, and Aeribacillus sp. X5, were isolated from DGW and selected to develop a consortium-based microbial agent to compost DGW for P. ostreatus cultivation. Microbial agent inoculation led to faster carbohydrate metabolism, a higher temperature (73.2 vs. 71.2 °C), a longer thermophilic phase (5 vs. 3 days), and significant dynamic changes in microbial community composition and diversity in composts than those of the controls. Metagenomic analysis showed the enhanced microbial metabolisms, such as xenobiotic biodegradation and metabolism and terpenoid and polyketide metabolism, during the mesophilic phase after microbial agent inoculation, which may facilitate the fungal colonization on the substrate. In accordance with the bioinformatic analysis, a faster colonization of P. ostreatus was observed in the composts with microbial inoculation than in control after composting for 48 h, as indicated from substantially higher fungal ergosterol content, faster lignocellulose degradation, and higher lignocellulase activities in the former than in the latter. The final mushroom yield shared no significant difference between composts with microbial inoculation and control, with 0.67 ± 0.05 and 0.60 ± 0.04 kg fresh mushroom/kg DGW, respectively ( p > 0.05). Conclusion The consortium-based microbial agent comprised indigenous microorganisms showing application potential in composting DGW for providing substrate for P. ostreatus cultivation and will provide an alternative to facilitate DGW recycling.

Abstract:Composting has become the most important way to recycle medicinal herbal residues (MHRs). The traditional composting method, adding a microbial agent at one time, has been greatly limited due to its low composting efficiency, mutual influence of microbial agents, and unstable compost products. This study was conducted to assess the effect of multi-phase inoculation on the lignocellulose degradation, enzyme activities, and fungal community during MHRs composting. The results showed that multi-phase inoculation treatment had the highest thermophilic temperature (68.2 °C) and germination index (102.68%), significantly improved available phosphorus content, humic acid, and humic substances concentration, accelerated the degradation of cellulose and lignin, and increased the activities of cellulase in the mature phase, xylanase, manganese peroxidase, and utilization of phenolic compounds. Furthermore, the non-metric multi-dimensional scaling showed that the composting process and inoculation significantly influenced fungal community composition. In multi-phase inoculation treatment, Thermomyces in mesophilic, thermophilic, and mature phase, unclassified_Sordariales, and Coprinopsis in mature phase were the dominant genus that might be the main functional groups to degrade lignocellulose and improve the MHRs composting process.

Abstract:Green waste contains large amounts of lignin, which resists biodegradation and therefore limits its composting process. To overcome this limitation, we have shown in some previous studies that fungal inoculation ( Trametes trogii ) during the maturation phase resulted in higher lignin degradation in compost C2 compared to control C1. The degradability was increased from 23 to 35%. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of this reinforcement on the modeling of total organic carbon loss, fungal flora and laccase activity during the composting phases and on the final quality of composts C1 and C2 and their water extracts J1 and J2. The results found showed that carbon loss in both piles was subject to a first-order model (0–60 d) and a first-order E model (60–180 d). We found an increased total activity of mesophilic fungi and laccase in C2 immediately after inoculation (6 log10 UFC). Application of C2 significantly reduced soil bulk density BD by 29.5%, increased available water AW by 58% and improved dry biomass of wheat roots by 33% compared to 17.33 and 16% when C1 was applied.

Abstract:By screening the strains and testing different combinations of diverse bacteria, we developed a compound bacteria agent composing of 5 g Bacillus amyloliquefacien (B2), 10 g Pseudomonas aeruginosa (F4), 5 g Paenibacillus lautus (303), and 10 mL composite strains (DOD) for the degradation of household food waste (HFW). The final mass loss of HFW in aerobic composting with the compound bacteria agent B2+F4+303+DOD (group C) was 84.52%, increased by 20.83% over that loss in natural composting (group A). Analysis of 16S rRNA high‐throughput sequencing showed that the phyla in the group A and the group C mainly included Firmicutes, Proteobacteria and Cyanobacteria. At the genus level, Pediococcus was the dominant genus in the group A, of which the microbial community performed better to maintain microbial system stable in the later stage of composting, while Weissella accounted for a larger proportion of the group C that acted well in reducing final mass of composting. The Ochrobactrum was closely related to the removal of odours in the early stage of the group C. The relative abundance of compound bacteria agent was always at a rather low level, suggested that it affected the composting process by changing the proportion of dominant bacteria in the compost.
