Abstract:In this article, an attempt is made to propose a novel method of lifetime distributions with maximum flexibility using a popular T–X approach together with an exponential distribution, which is known as the New Generalized Logarithmic-X Family (NGLog–X for short) of distributions. Additionally, the generalized form of the Weibull distribution was derived by using the NGLog–X family, known as the New Generalized Logarithmic Weibull (NGLog–Weib) distribution. For the proposed method, some statistical properties, including the moments, moment generating function (MGF), residual and reverse residual life, identifiability, order statistics, and quantile functions, were derived. The estimation of the model parameters was derived by using the well-known method of maximum likelihood estimation (MLE). A comprehensive Monte Carlo simulation study (MCSS) was carried out to evaluate the performance of these estimators by computing the biases and mean square errors. Finally, the NGLog–Weib distribution was implemented on four real biomedical datasets and compared with some other distributions, such as the Alpha Power Transformed Weibull distribution, Marshal Olkin Weibull distribution, New Exponent Power Weibull distribution, Flexible Reduced Logarithmic Weibull distribution, and Kumaraswamy Weibull distribution. The analysis results demonstrate that the new proposed model performs as a better fit than the other competitive distributions.

Abstract:Current probability distributions often fall short when modeling lifespan data with non-monotonic hazard rate shapes, highlighting a gap in probability theory. To address this issue, this study introduces the novel family of probability-generating distributions (NP-G) as a solution to capture complex data patterns better. This research aims to develop and validate the NP-G distributions, which include a two-parameter continuous model based on the Weibull distribution. The study extensively explores the mathematical properties of the NP-G distributions, including series expansions of probability density functions, and evaluates various probabilistic measures such as moments, stress strength, mean deviations, entropy measures, and order statistics. Using the maximum likelihood method for parameter estimation and conducting a numerical simulation analysis, the study assesses the performance of the proposed extended exponentiated Weibull model. The findings demonstrate that this new model offers superior fit and accuracy compared to existing distributions when applied to two referenced datasets. This advancement is significant as it provides a more effective tool for analyzing lifespan data with non-monotonic hazard rates, enhancing both theoretical understanding and practical applications in fields such as reliability engineering and survival analysis.

Abstract:In this paper, a new class of distributions called the T-X family of distributions for bounded—(0,1)—and unbounded— —supported random variables is suggested. Some special sub-models of the proposed family are utilized. A new sub-model is selected to be studied in details. The statistical properties of the suggested family including quantile function, moments, moment generating function, order statistics and Rényi entropy are discussed. The maximum likelihood method is provided to estimate the parameters of the distribution and a Monte Carlo simulation study is used. The discretized T-X family provided many sub-families and sub-models. In addition, eight real data sets are utilized to demonstrate the flexibility of the proposed continuous and discrete family's multiple sub models.

Abstract:We propose a new class of continuous distributions with two extra shape parameters named the generalized odd log-logistic family of distributions. The proposed family contains as special cases the proportional reversed hazard rate and odd log-logistic classes. Its density function can be expressed as a linear combination of exponentiated densities based on the same baseline distribution. Some of its mathematical properties including ordinary moments, quantile and generating functions, two entropy measures and order statistics are obtained. We derive a power series for the quantile function. We discuss the method of maximum likelihood to estimate the model parameters. We study the behaviour of the estimators by means of Monte Carlo simulations. We introduce the log-odd log-logistic Weibull regression model with censored data based on the odd log-logistic-Weibull distribution. The importance of the new family is illustrated using three real data sets. These applications indicate that this family can provide better fits than other well-known classes of distributions. The beauty and importance of the proposed family lies in its ability to model different types of real data.

Some mathematical properties are presented and special models are discussed. Abstract:The unit new X-Lindley distribution, which is a novel one-parameter distribution on the unit interval, is presented in this study. It was developed by altering the new X-Lindley distribution using the exponential transformation. This new one-parameter distribution's fundamental features, including moments, incomplete moments, Lorenz and Bonferroni curves, Gini index, mode, extropy, Havrda and Charvat entropy, Rényi entropy, and Tsallis entropy, are explored. Additionally, it has bathtub-shaped hazard rate functions and monotonically increasing hazard rate functions with a single parameter. The new distribution is therefore sufficiently rich to model real data. Also, different estimation methods, such as maximum likelihood, least-squares, and weighted least-squares, are used to estimate the parameters of this model, and using a simulation research, their respective performances are evaluated. Finally, two real-life datasets are used to demonstrate the suggested model's competency.

Abstract:In the present study, a new class of heavy tailed distributions using the T-<em>X</em> family approach is introduced. The proposed family is called type-I heavy tailed family. A special model of the proposed class, named Type-I Heavy Tailed Weibull (TI-HTW) model is studied in detail. We adopt the approach of maximum likelihood estimation for estimating its parameters, and assess the maximum likelihood performance based on biases and mean squared errors via a Monte Carlo simulation framework. Actuarial quantities such as value at risk and tail value at risk are derived. A simulation study for these actuarial measures is conducted, proving that the proposed TI-HTW is a heavy-tailed model. Finally, we provide a comparative study to illustrate the proposed method by analyzing three real data sets from different disciplines such as reliability engineering, bio-medical and financial sciences. The analytical results of the new TI-HTW model are compared with the Weibull and some other non-nested distributions. The Baysesian analysis is discussed to measure the model complexity based on the deviance information criterion.

Abstract:In real-life data, count data are considered more significant in different fields. In this article, a new form of the one-parameter discrete linear-exponential distribution is derived based on the survival function as a discretization technique. An extensive study of this distribution is conducted under its new form, including characteristic functions and statistical properties. It is shown that this distribution is appropriate for modeling over-dispersed count data. Moreover, its probability mass function is right-skewed with different shapes. The unknown model parameter is estimated using the maximum likelihood method, with more attention given to Bayesian estimation methods. The Bayesian estimator is computed based on three different loss functions: a square error loss function, a linear exponential loss function, and a generalized entropy loss function. The simulation study is implemented to examine the distribution's behavior and compare the classical and Bayesian estimation methods, which indicated that the Bayesian method under the generalized entropy loss function with positive weight is the best for all sample sizes with the minimum mean squared errors. Finally, the discrete linear-exponential distribution proves its efficiency in fitting discrete physical and medical lifetime count data in real-life against other related distributions.

Abstract:The idea of generating skewed distributions from normal has been of great interest among researchers for decades. This paper proposes four families of generalized normal distributions using the T-X framework. These four families of distributions are named as T-normal families arising from the quantile functions of (i) standard exponential, (ii) standard log-logistic, (iii) standard logistic and (iv) standard extreme value distributions. Some general properties including moments, mean deviations and Shannon entropy of the T-normal family are studied. Four new generalized normal distributions are developed using the T-normal method. Some properties of these four generalized normal distributions are studied in detail. The shapes of the proposed T-normal distributions can be symmetric, skewed to the right, skewed to the left, or bimodal. Abstract:In the present study, we develop and investigate the odd Frechet Half-Logistic (OFHL) distribution that was developed by incorporating the half-logistic and odd Frechet-G family. The OFHL model has very adaptable probability functions: decreasing, increasing, bathtub and inverted U shapes are shown for the hazard rate functions, illustrating the model's capacity for flexibility. A comprehensive account of the mathematical and statistical properties of the proposed model is presented. In estimation viewpoint, six distinct estimation methodologies are used to estimate the unknown parameters of the OFHL model. Furthermore, an extensive Monte Carlo simulation analysis is used to evaluate the effectiveness of these estimators. Finally, two applications to real data are used to demonstrate the versatility of the suggested method, and the comparison is made with the half-logistic and some of its well-known extensions. The actual implementation shows that the suggested model performs better than competing models.

Abstract:We introduce a new class of continuous distributions named the Topp–Leone odd log-logistic family, which extends the one-parameter distribution pioneered by Topp and Leone [A family of J-shaped frequency functions. J Amer Statist Assoc. 1955;50:209–219]. We study some of its mathematical properties and describe two special cases. Further, we propose a regression model based on the new Topp–Leone odd log-logistic Weibull distribution. The usefulness and flexibility of the proposed family are illustrated by means of three real data sets.

Abstract:The creating of novel models essentially stems from the requirement to appropriate describe survival cases. In this study, a novel lifetime model with two parameters is proposed and studied for modeling more types of data used in different study cases, including symmetric, asymmetric, skewed, and complex datasets. The proposed model is obtained by compounding the exponential and XLindley distributions, and it is regarded as a strong competitor for the widely applied symmetrical and non-symmetrical models. Several characteristics and statistical properties are investigated. The unknown parameters of the recommended model for the complete sample are estimated using two estimation methods; notably, maximum likelihood estimation and Bayes techniques based on several loss functions as well as an approximate tool are used to construct the confidence intervals for the unknown parameters of the suggested model. The estimation procedures are compared using a Monte Carlo simulation experiment to demonstrate their effectiveness. In the end, the applicability and flexibility of the recommended model are conducted using two real lifetime datasets. In our illustration, we compare the practicality of the recommended model with several well-known competing distributions.

Abstract:In parametric statistical modeling, it is essential to create generalizations of current statistical distributions that are more flexible when modeling actual data sets. Therefore, this study introduces a new generalized lifetime model named the odd Weibull Inverse Gompertz distribution (OWIG). The OWIG is derived by combining the odd Weibull family of distributions with the inverse Gompertz distribution. Essential statistical properties are discussed, including reliability functions, moments, Rényi entropy, and order statistics. The proposed OWIG is particularly significant as its hazard rate functions exhibit various monotonic and nonmonotonic shapes. This enables OWIG to model different hazard behaviors more commonly observed in natural phenomena. OWIG's parameters are estimated and its flexibility in predicting unique symmetric and asymmetric patterns is shown by analyzing real-world applications from psychology, environmental, and medical sciences. The results demonstrate that the proposed OWIG is an excellent candidate as it provides the most accurate fits to the data compared with some competing models.

Abstract:This paper aims to introduce a novel family of probability distributions by the well-known method of the T–X family of distributions. The proposed family is called a "Novel Generalized Exponent Power X Family" of distributions. A three-parameters special sub-model of the proposed method is derived and named a "Novel Generalized Exponent Power Weibull" distribution (NGEP-Wei for short). For the proposed family, some statistical properties are derived including the hazard rate function, moments, moment generating function, order statistics, residual life, and reverse residual life. The well-known method of estimation, the maximum likelihood estimation method is used for estimating the model parameters. Besides, a comprehensive Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to assess the efficacy of this estimation method. Finally, the model selection criterion such as Akaike information criterion (AINC), the correct information criterion (CINC), the Bayesian information criterion (BINC), the Hannan–Quinn information criterion (HQINC), the Cramer–von-Misses (CRMI), and the ANDA (Anderson–Darling) are used for comparison purpose. The comparison of the NGEP-Wei with other rival distributions is made by Two COVID-19 data sets. In terms of performance, we show that the proposed method outperforms the other competing methods included in this study.

Abstract:In the statistical literature, several discrete distributions have been developed so far for modeling non-negative integer-valued phenomena, yet there is still room for new counting models that adequately capture the diversity of real data sets. Here, we first discuss a count distribution derived as a discrete analogue of the continuous half-logistic distribution, which is obtained by preserving the expression of its survival function at each non-negative integer support point. The proposed discrete distribution has a mode at zero and allows for over-dispersion; these two features make it suitable for modeling purposes in many fields (e.g., insurance and ecology), when these conditions are satisfied by the data. In order to widen its spectrum of applications, a discrete analogue is also presented of the type I generalized half-logistic distribution (obtained by adding a shape parameter to the simple one-parameter half-logistic), which allows us to model count data whose mode is not necessarily zero. For these new count distributions, the main statistical properties are outlined, and parameter estimation along with related issues is discussed. Their feasibility is proved on two real data sets taken from the literature, which have already been fitted by other well-established count distributions. Finally, a possible application is illustrated in the insurance field, related to the exact/approximate determination of the distribution of the total claims amount through the well-known Panjer's recursive formula, within the framework of collective risk models.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a new univariate flexible generator of distributions, namely, the odd Perks-G class. Some special models in this class are introduced. The quantile function (QFUN), ordinary and incomplete moments (MOMs), generating function (GFUN), moments of residual and reversed residual lifetimes (RLT), and four different types of entropy are all structural aspects of the proposed family that hold for any baseline model. Maximum likelihood (ML) and maximum product spacing (MPS) estimates of the model parameters are given. Bayesian estimates of the model parameters are obtained. We also present a novel log-location-scale regression model based on the odd Perks–Weibull distribution. Due to the significance of the odd Perks-G family and the survival discretization method, both are used to introduce the discrete odd Perks-G family, a novel discrete distribution class. Real-world data sets are used to emphasize the importance and applicability of the proposed models.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new class of statistical models to deal with the data sets in the sports and health sectors. The new class is called, a novel exponent power-Y (NovEP-Y) family of distributions. By implementing the NovEP-Y approach, a new model, namely, a novel exponent power-Weibull (NovEP-Weibull) distribution is introduced. Some distributional properties of the NovEP-Y family such as identifiability, order statistics, quantile function, and moments are obtained. The maximum likelihood estimators of the parameters are also derived. Furthermore, a brief Monto Carlo simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performances of the estimators. To show the applicability of the NovEP-Weibull model, two data sets from the sports and health sciences are considered. The first data set represents the time-to-even data collected from different football matches during the period 1964–2018. Whereas, the second data set is taken from the health sector, representing the survival times of the COVID-19 infected patients. Based on some well-known statistical tests, it is observed that the NovEP-Weibull model is a very competitive distribution for modeling the data sets in the sports and health sectors.

On Generalized Transmuted Lifetime Distribution

Abstract:This article presents a new class of generalized transmuted lifetime distributions which includes a large number of lifetime distributions as sub-family. Several important mathematical quantities such as density function, distribution function, quantile function, moments, moment generating function, stress-strength reliability function, order statistics, Rényi and q-entropy, residual and reversed residual life function, and cumulative information generating function are obtained. The methods of maximum likelihood, ordinary least square, weighted least square, Cramér-von Mises, Anderson Darling, and Right-tail Anderson Darling are considered to estimate the model parameters in a general way. Further, a well-organized Monte Carlo simulation experiments have been performed to observe the behavior of the estimators. Finally, two real data have also been analyzed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed distribution in real-life modeling.

Abstract:Active 18S and 25S ribosomal RNAs were produced in trans in yeast, from plasmids containing RNA polymerase II transcription signals and rDNA fragments with unique hybridization tags. Analyses were carried out in cells with temperature-sensitive RNA polymerase I. Functional rRNAs were derived from separate 18S and 5.8/25S rRNA coding units, however, active 25S rRNA could be produced only by cotranscription with 5.8S rRNA. The results demonstrate that the polycistronic organization of the large rDNA operon is not required for successful processing of rRNA or assembly of functional ribosomes. The split operon system should facilitate future efforts to dissect eukaryotic ribosome biogenesis.
