Abstract:Obstructive sleep apnea is highly prevalent in the general population, but still the majority of patients remain undiagnosed and untreated. In primary care the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea should be considered in many clinical situations, especially if risk factors or typical comorbidities are present. Sleep history, daytime complaints and clinical examination in combination with screening questionnaires and screening sleep studies can help to confirm the diagnosis.
