Abstract:To improve the electrochemical activity and electrochemical energy storage performance of the catalyst, one of the best approaches is to adjust materials structure reasonably and design of micro-array to enhance specific surface area and expose more active sites. In this work, CoNi-LDH/MXene@NiMoO4 electrode with multistage structure was successfully designed, in which CoNi-LDH was vertically arranged on NiMoO4 nanorods coated with MXene. Oxygen evolution reaction (OER) performance was improved through the adjustment of LDH by MXene. The electrode has an excellent OER activity, which the overpotential is 222 mV at 100 mA cm(-2). In addition, it can maintain high efficiency and stable operation for 120 h. The overall water-splitting (OWS) electrolytic cell was assembled with CoNi-LDH/MXene@NiMoO4 electrodes, which exhibited a low cell voltage (1.56 V) at 10 mA cm(-2). Moreover, the assembled OWS electrolytic cell can operate stably under the low voltage by small-scale solar power generation and thermal power generation. Furthermore, CoNi-LDH/MXene@NiMoO4 electrode also showed good potential in electrochemical energy storage. This work opened a new avenue for MXene to regulate the activity of transition metal-based catalysts. The efficient preparation of clean energy by the interaction of MXene and transition metal groups show great prospects.

Abstract:Metal-organic complex (MOC) multilayers are, for the first time, conformally constructed on Ni foam (NF) via a three-component sequential layer-by-layer (LbL) self-assembly approach and converted to three-dimensional (3-D) NF-supported interconnected CoO nanoparticles (NPs)/N-doped carbon nanohybrid multilayers via calcination. The obtained nanoarchitecture delivers an overpotential of 318 mV to achieve 10 mA cm(-2) and a Tafel slope of 46.1 mV dec(-1). This activity is superior to most reported oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts, and even much better than those of Ir- and Ru-based ones measured under the same conditions (0.1 M KOH). Additionally, this electrode undergoes negligible potential and current change after 19.8 h chronopotentiometric measurement and 300 cyclic voltammetry cycles. The outstanding catalytic performance is mainly attributed to the ultrasmall and high-density CoO NPs embedded in Ndoped carbon uniformly assembled on the 3-D substrate significantly increasing electrochemically accessible active sites and durability and the N-doped carbon greatly promoting intrinsic activity of CoO. This work not only creates 3-D highly tunable networked nanostructured electrodes with excellent durability for high-efficiency electrocatalysis but also develops a facile, economical, and extremely versatile strategy to controllably self-assemble conformal MOC-based multilayers with multifunctionality and superior performance on essentially any substrate at the molecular level for broad applications.

Abstract:Immunophenotyping was carried out in the presentation bone marrow samples of 32 children with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), living in the UAE. Twenty two had B-cell precursor ALL, 10 had T-cell precursor leukaemia. Clinical features were in accordance with internationally reported series. Analysis of ethnic origin showed that children of subcontinental origin (Indian and Pakistani) had a significantly higher proportion of T-cell ALL than their Arabic counterparts. This may reflect an interim phase in the pattern of ALL, between those of the developing and industrialized countries.

Abstract:An ultralong N,S co‐doped carbon nano‐hollow‐sphere chain with encapsulated Co nanoparticles (Co‐CNHSC) is synthesized as a bifunctional catalyst for both the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) by adopting a one‐step pyrolysis method. Benefiting from the electronic structure modulation between metal and nonmetal species, the optimized Co‐CNHSC‐3 exhibits an excellent bifunctional activity for OER and ORR and also shows superior performance for Zn‐air batteries. The development of simple and effective strategies to prepare electrocatalysts, which possess unique and stable structures comprised of metal/nonmetallic atoms for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), is currently an urgent issue. Herein, an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst featured by ultralong N, S‐doped carbon nano‐hollow‐sphere chains about 1300 nm with encapsulated Co nanoparticles (Co‐CNHSCs) is developed. The multifunctional catalytic properties of Co together with the heteroatom‐induced charge redistribution (i.e., modulating the electronic structure of the active site) result in superior catalytic activities toward OER and ORR in alkaline media. The optimized catalyst Co‐CNHSC‐3 displays an outstanding electrocatalytic ability for ORR and OER, a high specific capacity of 1023.6 mAh gZn−1, and excellent reversibility after 80 h at 10 mA cm−2 in a Zn‐air battery system. This work presents a new strategy for the design and synthesis of efficient multifunctional carbon‐based catalysts for energy storage and conversion devices.

Abstract:An urgent challenge to the development of rechargeable Zn–air batteries (RZABs) is the highly active, durable, and low‐cost catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction and oxygen evolution reaction (ORR and OER). Herein, a carbon‐based monolithic catalyst is designed via anchoring P‐modified MnCo2O4 inverse spinel nanoparticles on biomass‐derived carbon (P‐MnCo2O4@PWC). The introduction of surface P atoms regulates the electronic structures and valences of metal atoms by adjusting the coordination fields by (P‐O)δ– and Metal‐P. The optimization of the adsorption behavior of key intermediates facilitates the activation and conversion of reaction species. The monolithic structure is beneficial to the construction of a three‐phase interface for efficient mass transfer and high electrical conductivity. The P‐MnCo2O4@PWC catalyst displays outstanding bifunctional catalytic properties with a thin ΔE (the difference between the OER potential at 10 mA cm–2 and the ORR halfwave potential) of 0.66 V. The RZAB with P‐MnCo2O4@PWC as cathode delivers an exceptional peak power density (160 mW cm–2) and remarkable cycle life (over 1200 cycles), overcoming those with noble metal counterparts. This research provides a promising general surface‐phosphorization way to the design of carbon electrocatalysts and the high‐value utilization of biomass.

Abstract:The development of low-cost and highly efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts toward oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is of critical importance for clean energy devices such as fuel cells and metal-air batteries. Herein, a sophisticated nanostructure composed of CoS, Co and MoC nanoparticles incorporated in N and S dual-doped porous carbon nanofibers (CoS/Co/MoC-N, S-PCNFs) as a high-efficiency bifunctional electrocatalyst is designed and synthesized via an efficient multi-step strategy. The as-prepared CoS/Co/MoC-N, S-PCNFs exhibit a positive half-wave potential (E1/2) of 0.871 V for ORR and a low overpotential of 289 mV at 10 mA/cm2 for OER, outperforming the non-noble metal-based catalysts reported. Furthermore, the assembled Zn-air battery based on CoS/Co/MoC-N, S-PCNFs delivers an excellent power density (169.1 mW/cm2), a large specific capacity (819.3 mA h/g) and robust durability, demonstrating the great potential of the as-developed bifunctional electrocatalyst in practical applications. This work is expected to inspire the design of advanced bifunctional nonprecious metal-based electrocatalysts for energy storage.

Abstract:The realization of durable and efficient oxygen evolution reactions (OER) at large current densities and low overpotentials is of significant importance but remains a great challenge. In this study, a CoFe/Co 0.2 Fe 0.8 /CC (CF//CC) heterogeneous structure was fabricated by isolating CoFe/Co 0.2 Fe 0.8 S (CF/CFS) particles locked in nitrogen/sulfur codoped carbon nanotubes (NS-CNTs). Appreciable oxygen evolution reaction activity and durability was achieved with an ultralow overpotential of 110 mV at 10 mA•cm −2 . The operation was stable for 300 h at a current density of 500 mA•cm −2 . The structure was then assembled into a zinc-air battery (ZAB), which delivered a high power density of 194 mW•cm −2 , a specific capacity of 837.3 mAh•g Zn -1 , and stable operation for 788 h without obvious voltage attenuation and altered morphology. The electronic interactions were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), which revealed that both the bimetal components and the synergistic effect at the interface stimulated the transfer of Co and Fe sites to higher chemical valence states. Theoretical calculations indicated that the synergistic effect of the bimetal components, build-in interfacial potential, and surface chemical reconstruction adjusted the Fermi level to optimize the thermodynamic formation of O* to OOH*, thus enhancing the intrinsic activity.

Abstract:SUMMARY The numbers of patients with chronic prostatitis are increasing in all countries. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of chlamydia in patients with non‐bacterial prostatitis. Fifty‐five patients suffering with back pain, discomfort on voiding and ejaculation and perineal ache, and 35 normal patients, were examined between December 1995 and July 1997. Urine samples and prostatic secretions after prostate massage were collected from all patients. Chlamydia antigens were tested for with Chlamyphast. Chlamydia antigen was positive in 14 of the 55 (25.4%) patients with non‐bacterial prostatitis, but positive in only 2 (6%) patients in the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (p=0.0268). After treatment with doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 10 days, the clinic cure rate was 80%.

Abstract:It is of great significance to improve the performance of electrocatalysts by constructing suitable heterogeneous interfaces to adjust the electronic structure of their surfaces. Here, we design and synthesize Co-Fe alloy nanoparticles (NPs) modified nitrogen-doped cubic carbon box (NC) supported MoS2 nanosheets (NC@MoS2@Co-Fe) as a bi-functional electrocatalytic electrode material, which possesses excellent electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) performance. The NC@MoS2@Co-Fe exhibits remarkable bifunctional electrocatalytic activities with an ORR half-wave potential of 0.73 V in 0.1 M KOH electrolyte and an OER overpotential of 400 mV, driving a current density of 10 mA cm−2. The advanced catalytic performance can be attributed to the unique heterojunction structure of the catalyst. The size of the Co-Fe alloy NPs supported on MoS2 can be tuned to avoid the excessive growth of alloy NPs and to expose more catalytic active sites. Meanwhile, the loaded Co-Fe alloy NPs should be covered with a calcined carbon layer derived from the organic ligand to prevent oxidation passivation and particle aggregation. The structure formed by Co-Fe alloy NPs and NC@MoS2 optimizes the electronic structure of the active center and accelerates the electrocatalytic reaction rate, thus synergistically improving the bi-functional electrocatalytic activity of the NC@MoS2@Co-Fe catalyst and can be applied to rechargeable zinc air batteries.

Abstract:Abstract Replacement of noble‐metal platinum catalysts with cheaper, operationally stable, and highly efficient electrocatalysts holds huge potential for large‐scale implementation of clean energy devices. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and metal dichalcogenides (MDs) offer rich platforms for design of highly active electrocatalysts owing to their flexibility, ultrahigh surface area, hierarchical pore structures, and high catalytic activity. Herein, an advanced electrocatalyst based on a vertically aligned MoS 2 nanosheet encapsulated Mo–N/C framework with interfacial Mo–N coupling centers is reported. The hybrid structure exhibits robust multifunctional electrocatalytic activity and stability toward the hydrogen evolution reaction, oxygen evolution reaction, and oxygen reduction reaction. Interestingly, it further displays high‐performance of Zn–air batteries as a cathode electrocatalyst with a high power density of ≈196.4 mW cm −2 and a voltaic efficiency of ≈63 % at 5 mA cm −2 , as well as excellent cycling stability even after 48 h at 25 mA cm −2 . Such outstanding electrocatalytic properties stem from the synergistic effect of the distinct chemical composition, the unique three‐phase active sites, and the hierarchical pore framework for fast mass transport. This work is expected to inspire the design of advanced and performance‐oriented MOF/MD hybrid‐based electrocatalysts for wider application in electrochemical energy devices.

Abstract:Constructing heterogeneous interfaces between transition metal alloys and oxides in a carbon-based composite catalyst is an effective strategy for boosting the oxygen evolution reaction and oxygen reduction reaction (OER and ORR). Inspired by this concept, a carbon-coated MnCoNi alloy/oxide catalyst (Ox-MnCoNi-C) was synthesized by carbonization of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and controllable reoxidation process. Owing to the synergetic interaction between abundant active sites on the heterogeneous interface and the good electron transfer rate of graphitic carbon, Ox-MnCoNi-C exhibits a low potential gap (ΔE) of 0.79 V. Meanwhile, the assembled liquid zinc–air batteries exhibit high power density (125 mW cm–2), superior primary discharge specific capacity (822 mAh gZn –1), and no less than 100 h of steady charging and discharging operation running at 5 mA cm–2. This approach will provide a generic template for the preparation and extension of MOF-derived carbon composite catalysts applied in oxygen electrocatalysis.

Abstract:Construction of high-efficiency, low cost and stable non-noble metal catalyst on air cathode is of great importance for design and assembly of rechargeable Zn-air battery. Eriochrome black T (EBT) has phenolic hydroxyl and -N=Ν- groups, which provides multiple coordination sites for metal ions. Herein, Co9S8 nanoclusters implanted in Co/Mn-S,N multi-doped porous carbon (Co9S8@Co/Mn-S,N-PC) are fabricated with the mixture (i.e. EBT, metal precursors and dicyandiamide) by a coordination regulated pyrolysis strategy. Specifically, EBT effectively chelates with the Co and Mn ions, resulting in multiple incorporation and fine modulation of the carbon electronic structures. Meanwhile, its sulfonic acid groups are reduced at such high temperature, accompanied by simultaneously embedding S element in the carbon, ultimately in situ forming Co9S8 nanoclusters. The Co9S8@Co/Mn-S,N-PC performs as an effective bifunctional oxygen catalyst, displaying a positive half-wave potential of 0.85 V and a large limiting current density of 5.89 mA cm-2 for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in alkaline media, coupled with a small overpotential of 320 mV at 10 mA cm-2 towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER), outperforming commercial Pt/C and RuO2 catalysts, respectively. Furthermore, the assembled rechargeable Zn-air battery with Co9S8@Co/Mn-S,N-PC exhibits the much better charge/discharge performance and long-term durability (210 h, 630 cycles). This research opens an instructive avenue to develop high-efficient and stable bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts in energy transformation and storage devices.

Abstract:A facile in situ growth strategy is presented to assemble NiFe‐MOFs on heteroatoms‐doped porous activated carbon spheres (NP‐ACSs@NiFe‐MOFs). NP‐ACSs@NiFe‐MOFs show a remarkable bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysis performance. Both aqueous and quasi‐solid‐state zinc‐air batteries achieve super cycle stability with small voltage gap. The exemplified strategy can be extended to prepare advanced multifunctional electrocatalysts with rational arrangement of active components. Multifunctional electrocatalysts play an increasingly crucial role in various practical electrochemical energy conversion devices. Especially, on the air cathode of rechargeable zinc–air batteries (ZABs), oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER), requiring efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts, are switched during discharging and charging process. Here, supported by the theoretical computations, a facile strategy for the in situ assembly of NiFe‐MOFs nanosheets on heteroatoms‐doped porous activated carbon spheres is developed. The newly designed electrocatalyst (NP‐ACSs@NiFe‐MOFs) shows excellent performance toward bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysis. Specifically, a remarkable low value of potential gap (ΔE = 0.61 V), which is the difference between the potential to reach an OER current density of 10 mA cm−2 and ORR half‐wave potential, is achieved in 0.1 m KOH. Notably, the aqueous ZAB based on NP‐ACSs@NiFe‐MOFs shows super cycle stability with small voltage gap of only 0.79 V when cycled for 450 h at 10 mA cm−2. Also, the quasi‐solid‐state ZAB indicates excellent flexibility and cycling stability. This study presents a facile strategy for the rational integration of different catalytically active components, and can be extended to prepare other strongly competitive multifunctional electrocatalysts.

Abstract:Design and understanding of complex material systems represent an intriguing pursuit for chemical research and could lead to functional materials with superior performance and new applications. Here, a highly porous amorphous carbon sponge incorporating uniformly dispersed multicomponent 3d-metal nanoparticles was prepared from heterometal cluster-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) of [M3(bpt)2(DMF)2(H2O)2] (M = Fe2+, Co2+, and Ni2) through controllable structural transformation under mild temperature. The octahedral coordination geometry of metal ions in the [M3(COO)6] nodes is highly versatile and compatible with various metal ions, thus rendering the metal mode as an ideal platform to assemble mono-, bi-, and trimetallic clusters as precursors for heterometallic nanoparticles. A mild temperature of 400 °C was found to be optimal to produce NiCoFeO x @C-400, featuring extremely small particles as low as 5 nm in diameter, high-content amorphous carbon, and coexistence of different metal oxide phases covering M3O4, M2O3, and MO besides the metal alloy nanoparticles. In contrast, higher annealing temperatures of 600 and 800 °C lead to aggregated particles above 100 nm, low-content and dense graphitized carbon, and simple oxide phases. The presence of heterometals, multicomponent synergism, rich heterojunctions, phase boundaries, and porous carbon promotes mass transport and contributes to the prominent electrocatalyst performance of NiCoFeO x @C-400, which is better than that of bi/monometallic species and high-temperature derivatives. When coated on nickel foam, NiCoFeO x @C-400 realizes small overpotentials of 253 and 84 mV for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), respectively, and can work with a cell voltage of merely 1.63 V for durable overall water splitting, under a current density of 10 mA cm–2 using 1 M KOH as the electrolyte. N,S-Codoped hierarchical porous carbon spheres embedded with cobalt nanoparticles as efficient bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts for rechargeable zinc-air batteries

Abstract:Rational design and fabrication of cost-effective, efficient bifunctional electrocatalysts is fundamentally important for the air cathode of metal-air batteries. Herein, a Co(ii) ion-driven self-assembly strategy is described for the synthesis of cobalt-based nanostructured transition metal compounds (Co-NTMCs) embedded in nitrogen and sulfur codoped hierarchical porous carbon submicrospheres (Co-NTMCs@NSC), where condensation of thiourea-ethylenediamine-formaldehyde resin (TEFR) is induced by Co(ii) ions which is simultaneously assembled with polydopamine to form a multifunctional precursor through coordinated interaction. The resulting Co-NTMCs@NSC sample comprises abundant hierarchical porous textures, a high content of active cobalt species including the nanoparticles of Co, Co3O4 and amorphous CoSx, and a considerable amount of defective structures. These characteristics lead to remarkable oxygen electrocatalytic activities, with a half-wave potential of +0.833 V vs. RHE, which is comparable to that of commercial Pt/C for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), and a lower overpotential of 284 mV than RuO2 at 10 mA·cm-2 for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline media. Furthermore, its operational stability is also much higher than that of commercial RuO2 and Pt/C catalysts. When used as a breathing air electrode for Zn-air batteries, Co-NTMCs@NSC shows a higher open-circuit voltage (1.509 V), higher discharge power density (262 mW cm-2) and better charge-discharge reversibility than commercial Pt/C. The results from the present work suggest that controlled assembly of functional polymers may be exploited for the preparation of doped carbon/metal nanoparticle nanocomposites as viable, high-performance catalysts for electrochemical energy technologies.
Validity and reliability of tests determining performance-related components of wheelchair basketball

Abstract:Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability and validity of wheelchair basketball field tests. Nineteen wheelchair basketball players performed 10 test items twice to determine the reliability. The validity of the tests was assessed by relating the scores to the players' classification and competition standard, and rating of coach and player. Six field tests' test-retest showed good reliability (Intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) = 0.80–0.97), while the pass-for-accuracy, free throws, lay-up and spot shot showed weak to moderate reliability (ICC = 0.26–0.67). Most tests showed moderate to good validity (r > 0.60). The results suggest that wheelchair basketball field tests are reliable and valid with the exception of the shooting and passing items, which should be interpreted carefully.
Coupling Fe3C Nanoparticles and N‐Doping on Wood‐Derived Carbon to Construct Reversible Cathode for Zn–Air Batteries

Abstract:Electrochemical reduction of oxygen plays a critical role in emerging electrochemical energy technologies. Multiple electron transfer processes, involving adsorption and activation of O 2 and generation of protons from water molecules, cause the sluggish kinetics of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Herein, a double-active-site catalyst of Fe 3 C nanoparticles coupled to paulownia wood-derived N-doped carbon (Fe 3 C@NPW) is fabricated via an active-site-uniting strategy. One site on Fe 3 C nanoparticles contributes to activating water molecules, while another site on N-doped carbon is responsible for activating oxygen molecules. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of double active sites, Fe 3 C@NPW delivers a remarkable catalytic activity for ORR with a half-wave potential of 0.87 V (vs. RHE) in alkaline electrolyte, outperforming commercial Pt/C catalyst. Moreover, zinc–air batteries (ZABs) assembled with Fe 3 C@NPW as a catalyst on cathode achieve a large specific capacity of 804.4 mA h g Zn −1 and a long-term stability of 780 cycles. The model solid-state ZABs also display satisfactory performances with an open-circuit voltage of 1.39 V and a high peak power density of 78 mW cm −2 . These outstanding performances reach the level of first-rank among the non-noble metal electrode materials. This work offers a promising approach to creating double-active-site catalysts by the active-site-uniting strategy for energy conversion fields.

Abstract:Rational design of effective non‐precious metal for both oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is urgently demanded for flexible metal‐air batteries. Engineering heterointerfaces between metal compounds is an attractive strategy for fabricating high‐performance bifunctional electrocatalysts. Herein, a facile spontaneous sulfurization strategy is developed to fabricate the self‐supporting electrode consisting of homogeneous Co3S4 and ZnS on MoS2 with abundant sulfur vacancies, as well as the unique heterointerfaces and conductive carbon skeleton. Owing to the hierarchical structure and more exposed active sites, the optimal Co(Zn0.5)@MoS2/CC electrode exhibits excellent bifunctional catalytic activity with the smaller ΔE value (Ej=10,OER−E1/2,ORR) and durability. Furthermore, Co(Zn0.5)@MoS2/CC based all‐solid‐state zinc‐air and aluminum‐air batteries also deliver high open‐circle voltage, desirable power density and flexibility. This approach offers a novel method to obtain the self‐supporting electrodes with porous structure and highly active metal sulfides.
