Abstract:Near 100% photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) is the first target for designing luminescent quantum dots (QDs). Here, an alloyed QD with a core/shell structure of Cd0.194Zn0.806Se0.406S0.594/ZnS is synthesized and characterized by the feature of large core size (about 10 nm) and thin shell (around three ZnS monolayers). It exhibits an efficient green emission with the PL QY of 99.8% and ultra-fast radiative transition rate (kr) of 4.16 x 107 s-1. It demonstrates that the excited state will be rapidly decayed to its ground state through a radiative channel and less vulnerable to non-radiative processes. Under a high pump intensity (254.65 mu J cm - 2), the Cd0.194Zn0.806Se0.406S0.594/ZnS QD still owns a long biexciton decay lifetime (tau xx) of 1.05 ns and high biexciton QYxx of 25.1%, corresponding to a suppressed non-radiative Auger recombination. The Cd0.194Zn0.806Se0.406S0.594/ZnS QD based light-emitting diode exhibits a peak external quantum efficiency of 20.1% and brightness of over105 cd m-2 at 5.2 V. We believe that the Cd0.194Zn0.806Se0.406S0.594/ZnS QD not only provides a near-unity QY but also ensures its QD based light-emitting diode (QLED) with an excellent performance, which could be an excellent QD material for QLED applications.

Abstract:I-III-VI-based semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) have been intensively explored because of their unique controllable optoelectronic properties. Here we report one-pot synthesis of Na-doped Ag-In-Ga-S (AIGS) QDs incorporated in a Ga2O3 matrix. The obtained QDs showed a sharp band-edge photoluminescence peak at 557 nm without a broad-defect site emission. The PL quantum yield (QY) of such QDs was 58%, being much higher than that of AIGS QDs without Na+ doping, 29%. The obtained Na-doped AIGS/Ga2O3 composite particles were used as an emitting layer of green QD light-emitted diodes. A sharp electroluminescence (EL) peak was observed at 563 nm, being similar to that in the PL spectrum of the QDs used. The external quantum efficiency of the device was 0.6%.

Abstract:Over the past few decades, I-III-VI quantum dots (QDs) have attracted considerable attention due to their large Stokes shifts, good eco-friendliness, and wide tunable emissions. In this work, a facile microwave -assisted aqueous route using glutathione (GSH) and citric acid (CA) as dual stabilizers is introduced to synthesize AgInGaS/ZnS (AIGS/ZnS) core/shell QDs. An exceptional photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) as high as 79% is successfully achieved, boosting the best performance of water-dispersible AIGS QDs. By varying the Ag/Ga ratio, the PL peak wavelength can be tuned from 547 to 616 nm, and luminescent hydrogel films with different colors are obtained by embedding AIGS/ZnS QDs in polyacrylamide/poly-vinyl alcohol (PAAm/PVA) hydrogels. The white light-emitting diode (WLED) with a high color rendering index (CRI) of 92.1 ( R 9 = 92.0) and a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 3022 K is fabricated using QDs-PAAm/PVA hydrogel films in combination with a blue InGaN LED chip, indicating that the as-prepared QDs are competitive color-conversion materials for WLEDs. Abstract:With the blooming development of zero-dimensional nanomaterials, I-III-VI alloying quantum dots (QDs) with outstanding photoelectrical properties have emerged to attract much attention as promising environmentally-friendly substitutions for conventional binary Cd-based QDs. In this work, a facile one-pot method was introduced to synthesize unreported quaternary Ag-Cu-Ga-Se/ZnSe (ACGSe/ZnSe) QDs. A relatively high photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) of 71.9% and a tunable emission from 510 to 620 nm were successfully achieved. We explored the roles of alloying compositions in ACGSe/ZnSe QDs, inferring that increased Ag proportion would not only lower the V-defect level which leads to the blue shift of emission, but also slow the ZnSe shelling process owing to the larger lattice distortion. At last, the white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) were fabricated with ACGSe/ZnSe QDs as the conversion layer, indicating that the as-prepared QDs are a promising candidate for further applications. Abstract:Dual emissive Cd-free quantum dots (QDs) are in great demand for various applications. However, their synthesis has been faced with challenges. Here, we demonstrate the dual emissive Ag:InP/ZnScore/shell QDs with the excellent photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) up to 75% and their PL dependence on the reaction temperature, reaction time, the different ZnX2 (X = I, Cl, and Br) precursors, the ratio of In/Zn and the Ag dopant concentration. The as-prepared Ag: InP/ZnS QDs exhibit dual emission with one peak position of about 492 nm owing to the intrinsic emission, and the other peak position of about 575 nm resulting from Ag-doped emission. These dual emissive QDs are integrated with the commercial GaN-based blue LEDs, and the simulation results show that the Ag: InP/ZnS QDs-based white LEDs could realize bright natural white-lights with the luminous efficacy (LE) of 94.2-98.4lm/W, the color rendering index (CRI) of 82-83 and the color quality scale (CQS) of 82-83 at different correlated color temperatures (CCT). Abstract:A full width at half‐maximum (FWHM) of blue‐emitting Cu‐Ga‐S‐based quantum dots (QDs) is tuned from 88 to 29 nm. To the best of the knowledge, such a narrow FWHM is reported for the first time, which is realized by tuning the nucleation temperature. This work opens the potential applications of I‐III‐VI QDs in display fields. Recently, I‐III‐VI type quantum dots (QDs) have attracted considerable attention in display technology due to their large‐scale tunable emission and environmentally friendly characteristics. However, within this family, narrow‐bandwidth Cu‐based QDs have rarely been reported. Herein, the synthesis of narrow‐bandwidth blue‐emitting Cu‐Ga‐S (CGS)‐based QDs is reported by a hot‐injection method for the first time, boasting a narrow full width at half‐maximum (FWHM) of 29 nm, closely approaching that of traditional Cd‐based QDs. Through precisely controlling the temperature of nucleation stage, CGS‐based QDs showcase a representative blue emission at 475 nm, featuring the narrowest FWHM and a photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 32%. Besides, the femtosecond transient fluorescence (fs‐TA) characterization indicates that the narrow‐bandwidth luminescence is attributed to band‐to‐hole recombination rather than donor‐acceptor pair (DAP) recombination. The work opens a new avenue for narrow‐bandwidth I‐III‐VI QDs, offering increased potential for applications in blue‐light‐emitting devices.

Abstract:semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) without Cd element have attracted considerable attention in the optoelectronics device areas. Herein, we demonstrated that AgInS2 QDs with tunable photoluminescence were used for light emitting diodes (LEDs). With the increase of reaction temperature, the photoluminescence (PL) peak was monotonically red shifted from 600 to 750 nm. The temperature dependent lifetime of the photoluminescence emission could reach to 900 ns. The successful synthesis of the AgInS2 nanocrystals with long PL lifetime provided a potential application in LEDs. Abstract:I-III-VI quantum dots (QDs) have gained widespread attention owing to their significant advantages of non-toxicity, large structural tolerance, and efficient photoluminescence potential. However, the disbalance of reactivity between the elements will result in undesired products and compromised optical properties. Reducing the activity of highly reactive group IB elements is the most common approach, but it will reduce the overall reactivity and lead to a wide dispersion of QD sizes. In this study, we propose a method to improve the overall reactivity of the reaction system using the highly active IIIA precursor InI3, which triggers rapid nucleation and promotes the formation of Ag(In,Ga)S2 (AIGS) QDs, resulting in monodisperse particle size distributions and a significantly improved photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) (from 12% to 72%). Furthermore, narrow band edge emission is realized by coating a gallium sulfide (GaSx) shell on the basis of obtaining high-quality AIGS QDs. The core/shell QDs exhibit a 90% PLQY with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of only 31 nm at 530 nm. This study provides a viable design strategy to synthesize monodisperse AIGS QDs with a narrow peak width and efficient luminescence, promoting the application of AIGS QDs in the field of luminescent displays.

Abstract:A novel white light-emitting diode based on a large Stokes shift (~200 nm) and using pure green light-emitting CdSeS quantum dots (QDs) with an Ag/ZnSnO/QDs/spiro-TPD/ITO structure has been fabricated in which ZnSnO and spiro-TPD are served as the electron and hole transport layer, respectively. The large Stokes shift of the CdSeS QDs excludes potentially Förster resonance energy transfer process, which allows spiro-TPD to act as both an emitter and hole transport layer. The devices exhibit a wide EL spectrum consisting of three components: blue emission from spiro-TPD, green emission from QD band–band recombination, and red emission from QD surface-state recombination. We further found that as the intensity ratios among these three components vary with bias the color of the QD light-emitting diodes is tunable. The device displays a good white light-emitting characteristic with CIE coordinates of (0.281, 0.384) at an appropriate bias.
Study of the Partial Ag-to-Zn Cation Exchange in AgInS2/ZnS Nanocrystals

Abstract:AgInS2-ZnS (AIZS) nanocrystals (NCs) were synthesized using a simple one-step approach by heating a Ag/In/Zn/S solution to 210 degrees C providing highly tunable photoluminescence (PL). The incorporation of Zn even at low temperatures (similar to 150 degrees C) and the increased cation exchange of silver by zinc at higher temperatures strongly influence the optical properties of the resulting NCs. The correlation between synthesis parameters and resulting optical properties provided insights on the growth and stability of ternary and quaternary semiconductors. Systematic investigation with time-resolved spectroscopy showed distinguishable PL behaviors between developing and fully grown AIZS NCs. Attempts to coat as-prepared AgInS2 NCs resulted in the same PL behavior as the one-step reaction product indicating that Zn readily exchanges with Ag ions even when not directly incorporated in the initial reaction mixture. Even with a low amount of zinc, the fully grown AIZS NCs showed improved PL QYs and single exponential decay behavior with long PL lifetimes. Control of the optical properties of these NCs makes them potentially useful for applications in photovoltaics and bioimaging particularly in light of their nontoxicity.

Abstract:Lead-free copper-based quantum dots (QDs)/nanocrystals (NCs) with facile preparation method and low price are promising to replace traditional expensive phosphors for white light-emitting diodes (W-LEDs) applications. In this article, the strategy of secondary excitation of red CIS/ZnS core-shell QDs by green Cs3Cu2Cl5 NCs and blue Cs3Cu2I5 NCs was used. UV-excited W-LEDs with a unique (GB)nRm layered structure was successfully prepared by green Cs3Cu2Cl5 NCs, blue Cs3Cu2I5 NCs and red CIS/ZnS core-shell QDs composite materials with different luminescence wavelengths. At the same time, the properties of the synthesized CuInS2 (CIS) QDs, CuInS2/ZnS core-shell QDs and Cs3Cu2X5 (X = C1, Br, I) NCs are characterized and the effect of myristic acid (MA) on optical properties was discussed. This study has an important reference significance on how to use three different quantum dots/nanocrystals to fabricate W-LEDs.

Abstract:I-III-VI group "green" quantum dots (QDs) are receiving increasing attention in photoelectronic conversion applications. In this work, a facile one-pot route directly dissolving copper iodide, gallium acetylacetonate and selenium powder as precursors into a mixed solution of dodecanethiol, oleylamine (OLA) and octadecene was developed to synthesize Cu-Ga-Se/ZnSe (CGSe/ZnSe) core/shell QDs. The resulting CGSe/ZnSe QDs with a relatively high photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) of 77.73% can be obtained and the particle size control from 4.20 to 5.73 nm can be realized via the variation of OLA dosage. The tunable emission from 485 to 630 nm can be acquired by introducing sulfur ion into CGSe host materials (anionic alloying) and varying the Cu/Ga precursor molar ratio. Furthermore, the PL recombination process in CGSe/ZnSe QDs is discussed using the PL decay curve. The proposed one-pot synthesis route for highly efficient color-tunable CGSe/ZnSe QDs is facile, rapid and environmentally-friendly. The as-prepared QDs are promising candidates for the exploration of novel and efficient light-emitting diodes.
Tuning the Shades of Red Emission in InP/ZnSe/ZnS Nanocrystals with Narrow Full Width for Fabrication of Light-Emitting Diodes

Abstract:While Cd-based luminescent nanocrystals (NCs) are the most mature NCs for fabricating efficient red light-emitting diodes (LEDs), their toxicity related limitation is inevitable, making it necessary to find a promising alternative. From this point of view, multishell-coated, red-emissive InP-based NCs are excellent luminescent nanomaterials for use as an emissive layer in electroluminescent (EL) devices. However, due to the presence of oxidation states, they suffer from a wide emission spectrum, which limits their performance. This study uses tris(dimethylamino)phosphine (3DMA-P) as a low-cost aminophosphine precursor and a double HF treatment to suggest an upscaled, cost-effective, and one-pot hot-injection synthesis of purely red-emissive InP-based NCs. The InP core structures were coated with thick layers of ZnSe and ZnS shells to prevent charge delocalization and to create a narrow size distribution. The purified NCs showed an intense emission signal as narrow as 43 nm across the entire red wavelength range (626-670 nm) with an emission quantum efficiency of 74% at 632 nm. The purified samples also showed an emission quantum efficiency of 60% for far-red wavelengths of 670 nm with a narrow full width of 50 nm. The samples showed a relatively long average emission lifetime of 50-70 ns with a biexponential decay profile. To demonstrate the practical ability of the prepared NCs in optoelectronics, we fabricated a red-emissive InP-based LEDs. The best-performing device showed an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 1.16%, a luminance of 1039 cd m-2, and a current efficiency of 0.88 cd A-1.
Synthesis of Cu-doped InP nanocrystals (d-dots) with ZnSe diffusion barrier as efficient and color-tunable NIR emitters.

Abstract:Efficient Cu-doped InP quantum dots (Cu:InP d-dots) emitters were successfully synthesized by epitaxial growth of a ZnSe diffusion barrier for the dopants. The Cu dopant emission of the Cu:InP/ZnSe core/shell d-dots covered the important red and near-infrared (NIR) window for biomedical applicaitons, from 630 to 1100 nm, by varying the size of the InP host nanocrystals. These new d-dots emitters not only compensate for the emission wavelength of the existing noncadmium d-dots emitters, Cu- and Mn-doped ZnSe d-dots (450-610 nm), but also offer a complete series of efficient nanocrystal emitters based on InP nanocrystals. The one-pot synthetic scheme for the formation of Cu:InP/ZnSe core/shell cl-clots was successfully established by systematically studying the doping process, the dopant concentration-dependent photophysical properties, and the dopant diffusion during shell epitaxy, etc. Complete elimination of InP bandgap emission and efficient pure dopant emission (with photoluminescence quantum yield as high as between 35-40%) of the core/shell d-dots were achieved by optimizing the final doping level and the diffusion barrier thickness.
Radiographic remission in seropositive rheumatoid arthritis. A 20-year follow-up study.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is in most instances a progressive disease. Very little information is available on halting of the radiographic damage, particularly in later phases of the disease. We studied radiographic remission of RA lasting to the end of follow-up, covering the period 1973-96. METHODS Radiographs of hands and feet were taken at onset and at 1, 3, 8, 15 and 20 years from entry in 102 cases of recent onset (< 6 months) seropositive and erosive RA. A Larsen score of 0-100 was formed for 20 joints of hands and feet. If the score did not worsen by more than one point between one of the above time points and the end of the study, the patient was considered to be in remission. RESULTS Remission was confirmed in 27 (26%) of the patients. In 3 cases the remission was from the 1-year check-up, in 5 from the 3-year check-up, in 6 from the 8-year check-up and in 13 cases from the 15-year check-up. Some of the remission cases had a mild disease from the outset, but there were cases in which the disease process had led to marked joint destruction before slowing down. CONCLUSION This data may serve as a basis for comparison with subsequent cohort studies on new treatments-of-choice.
Tunable Emission of Cadmium-Free Transition Metal (cu, Mn, Ag) Co-Doped ZnInS/ZnS Core-Shell Quantum Dots

Abstract:Color tunable quantum dots (QDs) based on the Cu, Mn, Ag co-doped ZnInS core and ZnS outer-shell were synthesized by using an eco-friendly method. Core-shell doped QDs with the average size of 3.85 nm were obtained by using a one-pot synthesis followed by a hot injection with n-dodecanethiol (DDT) and oleylamine (OLA) as stabilizers in oil phase. Cu, Mn and Ag ions were introduced as single-dopant or co-dopants during the synthesis, providing an effective means to control the emission color of the QDs. The as-synthesized QDs showed photoluminescence emission ranging from green (530 nm) to near-red (613 nm), adjusted by doping components, dopant concentration, and Zn/In ratio. Importantly, quasi-white emission has been achieved by controlling the concentration of co-doped metal ions (Mn, Cu and Ag). The primary results demonstrated the promising potential of co-doped QDs as alternative materials for future high quality white LED applications.
