Abstract:Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare tumor that develops in the peritoneum. In this paper, we describe an extremely rare case of MPM metastasizing to the appendix in a 48-year-old female who initially presented with a persistent high fever. The woman reported a slight lower abdominal discomfort which had been relieved by urination for four months. She had lost 5 kg of weight. There was no nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or abdominal distension. Many broad spectrum antibiotics were given without relief of fever. Computed tomography (CT) scans revealed a thickened omentum majus and diffused multiple omental nodules. An omentectomy, appendectomy, and adnexectomy were carried out. A gross pathologic specimen of omentum tissue revealed a firm gray-white mass. Microscopic and immunohistochemical examinations confirmed the diagnosis of appendiceal and bilateral adnexal metastases of an MPM. These results suggest that MPM should be considered in the differential diagnosis of unexplained persistent high fever. Awareness of such atypical presentations of mesothelioma may help to make a correct diagnosis.
Primary Malignant Mixed Mullerian Tumor of the Peritoneum: a Case Report

Abstract:Malignant mixed mullerian tumor (MMMT) occurs rarely extragenital sites and generally originates from female genital tracts such as the uterus. Here, we report a patient with a primary MMMT of the peritoneum in a 64-year-old woman, who experienced a discontinuous epigastric pain and an abdominal distention for 3 months. An ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNA) was executed and indicated a highly malignant soft tissue sarcoma. And after that, the patient received a tumor resection (cytoreductive surgery) and postoperative chemotherapy. The postoperative immunohistochemical analysis revealed a MMMT in peritoneum. Up to now, the patient has survived for 5 months.

Abstract:Introduction: Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare and aggressive intra-abdominal neoplasm originating from mesothelial cells. Although asbestos exposure is a known risk factor, MPM's molecular pathogenesis differs from its pleural counterpart. Case Presentation: A 75-year-old male, with a past medical history of recently diagnosed mesothelioma, presented to the emergency department for a two-week progression of abdominal distension, early satiety, and dyspnea aggravated by activity. One year prior, he initiated medical evaluation for fluid retention and abdominal distension. A recent omental biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of mesothelioma, prompting the initiation of chemotherapy every three weeks. Despite paracentesis performed monthly, the patient experienced worsening shortness of breath and early satiety post-chemotherapy. Discussion: Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma poses a diagnostic challenge due to the absence of specific signs or symptoms. Common manifestations include abdominal distension, pain, early satiety, weight loss, dyspnea, chest pain, and fatigue. Rare symptoms encompass new-onset hernia, fever of unknown origin, night sweats, or incidental findings during physical examinations or laparoscopy. Delays in presentation and diagnosis contribute to the advanced stage at diagnosis, with most cases having already spread throughout the abdominal cavity. Three distinct presentations of MPM include the Dry Painful Type, characterized by abdominal pain with minimal ascites; the Wet Type, presenting with abdominal distension and ascites; and the Mixed Type, combining abdominal pain and distension. Paraneoplastic phenomena, such as fever, thrombocytosis, malignancy-related thrombosis, hypoglycemia, hypoalbuminemia, paraneoplastic hepatopathy, and rarely, Coombs-positive Hemolytic anemia, further complicate the clinical picture. Surgical gross and microscopic descriptions of liver biopsies indicated chronic hepatitis with mild portal inflammation, grade 1, and no fibrosis, stage 0. Notably, the omental biopsy confirmed Malignant Mesothelioma of the epithelioid type. Immunohistochemical stains supported the diagnosis, revealing positivity for CK AE1/AE3, calretinin, WT1, CK7 (focally), and GATA3 (focally), while testing negative for BAP1, CDX2, chromogranin, CK20, hepatocyte antigen, PAX8, PSA, synaptophysin, and TTF1. Due to the rarity of MPM, no standardized treatment protocols exist. Cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraoperative peritoneal perfusion with chemotherapy (HIPEC) are recommended for selected patients without extraperitoneal disease spread, possessing a good performance status and potential for complete surgical cytoreduction. Systemic chemotherapy, particularly pemetrexed-based regimens, is advocated for patients ineligible for CRS/HIPEC. Conclusion: MPM's aggressive nature poses diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Abstract:Background: Malignant mesothelioma (MM) is a tumor originating from the pleura, peritoneum, or pericardial cavity. It is divided into diffuse and localized malignant mesothelioma, with four subtypes in diffuse MM: epithelioid, sarcomatoid, desmoplastic, and biphasic, with biphasic being less common. The onset of this tumor is insidious, and the prognosis is extremely poor in some cases, with a median survival of 6–18 months and no standard treatment options in the past. Aims: We report a case of peritoneal malignant mesothelioma that was successfully treated with transformative therapy. We also review the literature in the hope of providing reference for the treatment and pathological diagnosis of such patients. Methods: The case of the peritoneal malignant mesothelioma was processed and reported in the routine manner for biopsy specimens at different stages. Results and conclusion: We report a case of a malignant tumor originating in the hepatorenal recess, which was diagnosed as biphasic malignant mesothelioma through a biopsy. Immunohistochemical testing showed PD-L1 expression. After multidisciplinary discussion, the patient received transformative treatment, including a trial of combined immunotherapy. The tumor significantly shrank, and the patient obtained a chance for curative surgical resection. Microscopic examination showed significant collagenization in the lesion area, with almost no residual tumor. After 19 months of comprehensive treatment, the patient developed multiple fluffy opacities under the pleura of both lungs. Transthoracic core needle biopsy under CT guidance, the pathology showed organizing pneumonia, considering it as delayed interstitial pneumonitis due to immunotherapy based on previous treatment history. Successful comprehensive treatment was achieved for this case of peritoneal malignant mesothelioma, and the patient has been alive without evidence of disease for 33 months, with long-term follow-up. In this process, the pathologist had three opportunities for pathological diagnosis, which required understanding the patient’s medical history, being attentive to the clinical purpose of the specimen, and providing accurate responses to morphological changes at different stages, along with corresponding descriptions and diagnoses to provide effective information for clinical treatment.

A Report of a Rare Case of Rapidly Progressing Immature Teratoma With Associated Splenic Metastasis and Gliomatosis Peritonei

Abstract:Gliomatosis peritonei (GP) is a rare condition of mature glial tissue within the peritoneum often associated with immature teratomas. This was a case of rapid progression of immature teratoma with splenic lesions and associated GP. The patient was a 21-year-old female who presented with abdominal pain and CT imaging showing suspected malignant teratoma. The patient underwent exploratory laparotomy with fertility-sparing debulking surgery and was diagnosed with stage IIIC grade 3 immature teratoma. She then received adjuvant chemotherapy with bleomycin, etoposide, and cisplatin. Surveillance imaging demonstrated a non-avid splenic lesion. The tumor markers remained normal. She underwent robotic splenectomy and partial peritonectomy with intra-operative findings revealing numerous peritoneal nodules. Follow-up surveillance imaging showed no further lesions. The final histopathology examination demonstrated mature and mesenchymal neural tissue consistent with residual teratoma and no immature elements. The specimens were largely composed of nodules of mature glial tissue and focal areas of mature neuronal tissue. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and S100 expression, confirming neural origin tissue. Octamer-binding transcription factor 4 (OCT-4) immunostain was negative which confirmed the absence of immature neural tissue. We report a rare case of rapid progression of immature teratoma with splenic metastasis and peritoneal nodules found ultimately to be mature teratoma and associated GP. Recognition of rapidly growing teratoma with new lesions as potential GP is imperative to prevent misdiagnosis as recurrence or progression of disease. This case was treated with secondary debulking surgery which should be a consideration of management if surgically feasible.

Abstract:We report the case of an African American male with no significant past medical history presenting with recurrent, rapidly relapsing episodes of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) despite aggressive treatment with several lines of treatment. Incidentally, these episodes were associated with severe abdominal pain which eventually developed into acute abdomen and prompted exploratory laparotomy, revealing diffuse carcinomatosis with a tumor located on the left pelvis that was encasing the distal sigmoid colon. Pathology made a final diagnosis of peritoneal mesothelioma. TTP-like syndrome (TTP-LS) has been described as a paraneoplastic phenomenon in several malignancies but never before in the setting of malignant mesothelioma. Paraneoplastic TTP-like syndrome has historically been associated with a dismal prognosis and particular clinical and laboratory abnormalities described in this paper. It is of utmost importance to make a prompt determination whether TTP is idiopathic or secondary to an underlying condition because of significant differences in their prognosis, treatment, and response. This paper also reviews the current literature regarding this challenging condition.
Epithelioid Mesothelioma of Peritoneum Masquerading as Peritoneal Carcinomatosis

Abstract:Introduction: Mesothelioma is an insidious neoplasm that develops from mesothelial cells. About 80% of mesotheliomas originate in the pleural cavity. Other sites where it has been reported are the peritoneal cavity, tunica vaginalis, and the pericardium. Case Presentation: A 45-year-old female complained of abdominal distention and pain for three months. There was a significant weight loss of approximately 15 kg in the past three months, and there was no family history of any malignancy, tuberculosis, substance abuse, or asbestosis exposure. Physical examination revealed signs of muscle wasting, loss of subcutaneous fat, and hollowing of the eye sockets. There was pitting edema in the bilateral lower limbs; per abdomen examination revealed abdominal distension with umbilicus in the midline. No visible peristalsis or dilated veins were seen all over the abdomen. Hernial sites were normal. Gross ascites were present, and no organomegaly, definitive mass, or lump was palpable. The dull note was heard all over the abdomen, and fluid thrill was noted on percussion. Bowel sounds were normal on auscultation. The ascitic fluid examination revealed the presence of atypical cells. An omentectomy was done and it was sent for histopathological examination. Conclusion: The specimen of omentectomy was in multiple fragments and measured 17x16x3cm; a few of the fragments were nodular, soft to firm on palpation. The cut section of mass was gray and white with areas of necrosis. Microscopic examination showed sheets of malignant cells. These tumor cells were immunoreactive to EMA, cytokeratin, vimentin, calretinin, WT-1, and D2-40 and immune negative to desmin (highlighting only the entrapped reactive mesothelial cells), inhibin, BerEP4, TTF-1, CD 68, napsin, ER, CEA, CDX2, PR, PAX-8, and SALL4. Ki67 labelling index was 15%. The features were of epithelioid mesothelioma.

Abstract:Abstract Background In the Western hemisphere, cirrhosis is the most common cause of ascites. One of the least common causes is malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM), which occurs in one in one million cases. MPM can be a diagnostic challenge due to its rarity and features that mimic other causes of ascites. Aims To describe a complex case of MPM, highlighting the diagnostic dilemma stemming from the subtleties of presentation, confounders in ascites diagnostic criteria, and indeterminate testing. Methods We performed a detailed retrospective chart review of a patient who presented with ascites. He was initially given the diagnosis of decompensated cirrhosis and eventually was diagnosed with MPM. He provided his consent for this case report. Results A 37-year-old male presented with progressive ascites and peripheral edema. He had no known exposure to asbestos and consumed 6 standard drinks a day for 2 years; with a prior history of 10 standard drinks a week for over 3 years. His physical examination was unremarkable for cardiac, renal or liver disease. His transthoracic echocardiogram and urinalysis were normal. Abdominal ultrasound showed features of liver cirrhosis with large-volume ascites and a FIB-4 score of 0.34, excluding advanced fibrosis Laboratory investigations including liver tests were normal; with a platelet count of 568 x 109/L. Viral, metabolic and autoimmune liver disease were excluded. A diagnostic paracentesis demonstrated a serum albumin-ascites gradient (SAAG) of 1.3 g/dL. Due to his history of alcohol misuse, imaging findings and high SAAG, he was diagnosed with alcohol-related cirrhosis. His repeat abdominal ultrasound showed multiple liver nodules. Magnetic resonance imaging was done to investigate for hepatocellular carcinoma; revealing diffuse peritoneal carcinomatosis, cirrhosis and large-volume ascites. Investigations to identify the primary malignancy included a computed tomography chest, colonoscopy and EGD. His EGD was the only positive test; showing a 2cm submucosal gastric lesion with normal gastric mucosa pathology. An endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with fine needle aspiration was then performed; the lesion appearance in keeping with a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). Pathology favored a diagnosis of poorly differentiated gastric carcinoma. Cytology was positive for malignancy, with the differential being mesothelioma or adenocarcinoma and a repeat SAAG was 1.0 g/dL. Given the discordances, an ultrasound-guided core biopsy was performed of the peritoneal lesions. Pathology revealed features of poorly differentiated epithelioid mesothelioma. A subsequent review of his gastric biopsies revealed similar cells in retrospect were in keeping with mesothelioma. Conclusions The presentation of MPM is not easily distinguishable from other causes of ascites. There must be a high degree of suspicion for malignant ascites in the face of inconsistent clinical and diagnostic findings. Funding Agencies None
A Tumor-Specific Neo-Antigen Caused by a Frameshift Mutation in BAP1 is a Potential Personalized Biomarker in Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma.

Abstract:Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is an aggressive rare malignancy associated with asbestos exposure. A better understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of MPM will help develop a targeted therapy strategy. Oncogene targeted depth sequencing was performed on a tumor sample and paired peripheral blood DNA from a patient with malignant mesothelioma of the peritoneum. Four somatic base-substitutions in NOTCH2, NSD1, PDE4DIP, and ATP10B and 1 insert frameshift mutation in BAP1 were validated by the Sanger method at the transcriptional level. A 13-amino acids neo-peptide of the truncated Bap1 protein, which was produced as a result of this novel frameshift mutation, was predicted to be presented by this patient's HLA-B protein. The polyclonal antibody of the synthesized 13-mer neo-peptide was produced in rabbits. Western blotting results showed a good antibody-neoantigen specificity, and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining with the antibody of the neo-peptide clearly differentiated neoplastic cells from normal cells. A search of the Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC) database also revealed that 53.2% of mutations in BAP1 were frameshift indels with neo-peptide formation. An identified tumor-specific neo-antigen could be the potential molecular biomarker for personalized diagnosis to precisely subtype rare malignancies such as MPM.
Oral Anlotinib Maintenance Therapy for an Advanced Malignant Peritoneal Mesothelioma Diagnosed by Laparoscopy After Initial Misdiagnosis to Obtain Longer Progression-Free Survival: Case Report and Literature Review

Abstract:Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPeM) is a rare and highly invasive malignant tumor with a lack of specificity in clinical manifestations, which can easily lead to misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis. Due to the difficulty of early diagnosis, most patients are already in the advanced stage when diagnosed, and the prognosis is poor. At present, there is no standard treatment strategy, and the existing treatment methods are not effective, the duration of remission is short, which cannot meet the clinical needs. Here we describe a patient with advanced MPeM, initially misdiagnosed as ovarian cancer, who responded to treatment with bevacizumab in combination with albumin-bound paclitaxel and cisplatin. In preparation for cytoreductive surgery (CRS), MPeM was confirmed by laparoscopic peritoneal nodule biopsy combined with histological and immunohistochemical results. Subsequently, due to intolerable neurotoxicity after chemotherapy, she received oral anlotinib therapy on April 25, 2022, and remained stable disease (SD) with the medication, having achieved more than 14 months of progression-free survival (PFS) as of the date of our manuscript submission. The patient's total treatment time was over 19 months. These treatments delayed tumor progression, reduced drug side effects, maintained a good quality of life, and further extended overall survival (OS). Our experience is that on the one hand, it is necessary to increase the clinician's understanding of the disease, and make full use of tissue samples and immunohistochemical staining to reduce the occurrence of misdiagnosis. On the other hand, based on preliminary evidence, we found that oral anlotinib offers a viable maintenance treatment strategy for patients with advanced mesothelioma, which needs to be further explored in future studies.

Abstract:Introduction Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is an extremely rare tumor with nonspecific clinical manifestations, making diagnosis challenging. Case presentation Herein, we report a case of MPM with occult onset presenting with bilateral hydronephrosis and renal insufficiency. A 30-year-old man was admitted to the Urology Department because of recurrent bilateral lower back pain. The etiology was unclear after a series of laboratory tests, imaging examinations, bone marrow aspiration, renal puncture biopsy, ascites examination, ureteroscopy, and so on. Finally, MPM was diagnosed by laparoscopic exploration and biopsy. Moreover, during the course of the disease, the patient's bilateral ureters were compressed, and the obstruction could not be relieved after the placement of ordinary ureteral stents. Percutaneous nephrostomy or metal ureteral stenosis was appropriate in managing malignant ureteral obstruction as it could improve renal function. Conclusions The onset of this case was insidious, and the diagnosis was difficult, with a poor prognosis. To date, only a handful of cases have been reported. We hope this case can provide some enlightenment for our clinical work.

Abstract:Background: Mesothelioma is a rare, aggressive disease originating from mesothelial cells and carries a poor prognosis. Mesothelioma may arise from the pleura, pericardium, or peritoneum. Peritoneal mesothelioma (PM) usually spreads in a diffuse manner; however, a localized unifocal form of PM may occur. Literature on unifocal mesothelioma remains scarce. Case description: Herein, we highlight a case of localized epithelioid PM in an 81-year-old gentleman with the unique challenges faced during management. The pelvic mass was 7 cm, well-circumscribed, and hyper-vascular with fibrous attachments to the abdominal wall. The patient had a peritoneal cancer index (PCI) of 4 on initial diagnostic laparoscopy. Diagnosis was confirmed by histology. Resection of the mass with a partial omentectomy was performed. Months later, the patient developed recurrence detected on follow-up imaging in the peri-splenic region. The patient underwent cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for 60 minutes using mitomycin C and cisplatin followed by an uneventful recovery. Our case report is followed by a review of literature on disease pathophysiology, treatment options, and recently promising immunotherapy approaches. Conclusions: CRS and HIPEC remains the standard treatment regimen for patients with PM. Nonetheless, a more nuanced approach might be indicated in specific patients with localized unifocal PM. Disease distribution and burden may impact the decision on surgical management in selected patients.
A Rare Mesothelioma Under The Cloak Of Heart Failure And Constrictive Pericarditis

Abstract:Introduction Primary pericardial mesothelioma (PPM) is a rare and highly aggressive malignancy that arises from the serosal lining of the pericardium with an incidence of 0.0022%. It is a diagnostically challenging neoplasm due to its non-specific presentation. There is a lack of guideline-directed management due to the scarcity of literature. We present a case of PPM treated with Nivolumab plus ipilimumab. Case Presentation A 59-year-old woman presented to the hospital with dyspnea and dizziness on minimal exertion worsening over a few weeks. She had diminished heart sounds on the exam. ECG showed T wave inversions in inferolateral leads (Fig 1A). A transthoracic echocardiogram revealed a moderate-sized pericardial effusion without any evidence of tamponade (Fig 1B). A pericardiocentesis was performed with the removal of 1.5 liters of straw-colored fluid. Cytology revealed atypical mesothelial cells. Subsequently, she underwent pericardial window due to recurrent effusion. She had recurrent admissions for heart failure exacerbation and volume overload symptoms. A TTE was repeated which showed lateral E’ < medial E’ prime concerning for constrictive physiology (Figs 1C & 1D). A right heart catheterization revealed a rapid steep Y descent (Fig 1E). Cardiac MRI showed significantly elongated atria with small ventricles, along with complex lobulated pericardial effusion and thickening, confirming the diagnosis of effusive constrictive pericarditis (Fig 1F). During the course, her symptoms worsened, and she underwent pericardiectomy. The mucinous fluid and the fibrin material from the surgery were positive for epitheloid-type pericardial malignant mesothelioma. She was started on immune therapy with Ipilimumab and Nivolumab. Her progress is being monitored. Conclusion PPM is an aggressive malignancy with high mortality, unclear etiology, and non-specific presentation without an established treatment strategy. The patient's presentation ranges from acute tamponade to heart failure exacerbation and subacute constrictive pericarditis. Our patient had multiple admissions with heart failure exacerbations. Our case also demonstrates significant challenges in the diagnosis and management of this malignancy. The median survival is 6 months. Treatment offered for PPM includes surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Therapy with platinum-based agents has shown survival benefits. U.S. FDA has approved Ipilimumab and Nivolumab for their superiority over platinum-based agents in malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), however, this strategy has not been used in PPM before. Early multi-disciplinary involvement with heart failure specialists, surgeons, and oncologists can aid in a better prognosis.

Abstract:Enterotoxin production was greatly enhanced in two of five food poisoning strains of Clostridium perfringens subjected to heat treatment prior to incubation in Duncan and Strong sporulation medium. Heating was carried out on three successive cultures of each strain, the optimum temperature for treatment being 85 °C for one strain and 95 °C for another: on each occasion cultures were heated for 20 min. The triple heat treatment procedure was used in testing strains of Cl. perfringens isolated from faeces of healthy human subjects for production of enterotoxin. Eleven of 35 (31%) individuals were found to be carriers of enterotoxigenic strains, the isolates producing more than 0·1 μ/ml of enterotoxin. Six of the 11 enterotoxigenic strains were killed by heating at 95 °C but one isolate produced more enterotoxin following treatment at this temperature than after heating at 75 °C.

Abstract:Abstract Background Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) syndrome is a disease process that typically occurs from ruptured appendiceal mucocele neoplasms. PMP syndrome arising from malignant transformation of an ovarian primary mature cystic teratoma (MCT) is a pathogenesis rarely encountered. Case Presentation Herein, we report a 28-year-old patient evaluated and treated for a right ovarian mass and large volume symptomatic abdominopelvic mucinous ascites. Molecular profiling and genetic analysis revealed mutations in ATM, GNAS, and KRAS proteins while IHC demonstrated gastrointestinal-specific staining for CK20, CDX2, CK7, and SATB2. Peritoneal cytology showed paucicellular mucin. Diffuse peritoneal adenomucinosis (DPAM) variant of PMP arising from a ruptured ovarian primary MCT after malignant transformation to a low-grade appendiceal-like mucinous neoplasm was ultimately confirmed. Treatment included staged therapeutic tumor debulking and right salpingo-oophorectomy followed by cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Conclusions Our report builds upon the existing literature supporting this aggressive treatment option reserved for advanced abdominal malignancies utilized in this patient with a rare clinical entity.

Abstract:Benign multicystic peritoneal mesothelioma (BMPM) is a rare condition, in which patients have multiple cystic lesions of the peritoneum. BMPM can mimic mucinous carcinomatosis and can thus create a diagnostic dilemma. We present the case of a 76-year-old woman who was referred for management of ascending colon adenocarcinoma and was noted to have several nonspecific cystic lesions in the abdomen and pelvis on preoperative computed tomography and diagnostic laparoscopy. Frozen section analysis suggested the lesions contained 'mucin'. Due to concern for metastases, right colectomy was aborted. Final histologic analysis of the laparoscopic biopsies revealed mesothelial cysts, consistent with BMPM, unrelated to her colon adenocarcinoma. Laparoscopic right colectomy was performed 2 weeks later. BMPM can create diagnostic and therapeutic uncertainty in patients with known visceral malignancies when discovered incidentally. Frozen section analysis may not be accurate in differentiating the two, and final histologic confirmation should be sought prior to definitive treatment.
Diagnosis and treatment of malignant retroperitoneal mesothelioma: A case report

Abstract:Rationale: Malignant peritoneal mesothelioma (MPM) is a rare clinical disease. Although there are several reports describing intraperitoneal mesothelioma of the lung, liver, and intestine, retroperitoneal mesothelioma is, to our knowledge, very rare and rarely reported. In recent years, our best clinical protocols for the treatment and diagnosis of retroperitoneal mesothelioma have not been proven and the diagnosis and treatment are challenging. Patient concerns: A 37-year-old Chinese woman complained of bilateral low back pain for a month, with obvious symptoms of low back pain on the left side. To treat low back pain, retroperitoneal masses were found during physical examination. The patient consulted a urological specialist for further treatment. Diagnosis: After the operation, pathological biopsy confirmed retroperitoneal epithelioid diffuse mesothelioma. Interventions: After exclusion of surgical contraindications, the patient underwent laparoscopic retroperitoneal lesion resection under tracheal intubation and general anesthesia, and the operation was successful. Outcomes: On the tenth day after surgery, the patient vital signs were stable, and he was discharged. Lessons: Patients with malignant peritoneal mesothelioma may have no typical clinical symptoms, and the diagnosis is based on pathological and immunohistochemical examination. In selected patients, surgical cell reduction and intraoperative intraperitoneal heat chemotherapy have become the first choice of treatment, which can achieve ideal therapeutic effects and prolong survival.
