Abstract:Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) exhibit an similar storage mechanism to lithium ion batteries (LIBs). Since lithium is costly and sodium is abundant on earth, SIBs have potential to replace LIBs in many applications, especially large-scale energy storage. Carbonaceous materials have special advantages for sodium ion storage, including low cost, high capacity and high conductiviy. However, the storage properties of carbonaceous materials are expected to be improved to meet the development of SIBs. Structure design and heteroatoms doping are two effective approaches to enhance the capacity and rate performance of carbonaceous materials for sodium storage. In this paper, nitrogen and sulfur co-doped mesoporous hollow carbon spheres (NSHCSs) are synthesized through a facile pyrolysis process, using ionic liquid [EMIm]HSO 4 as the heteroatom source and phenolic resin as the carbon source. Owing to the hollow structure and element co-doping, the NSHCSs possess high surface area, abundant defects and enlarged interlayer spacing. The electrochemical measurements demonstrate the NSHCSs possess excellent sodium storage properties, with reversible capacities of 245.8, 229.6, 197.9, 169.7, 150.5, 123.0, and 86.2 mAh g −1 at 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, and 10 A g −1 , respectively. The NSHCSs also display superior capacity retention, with a capacity of 124.7 mAh g −1 after 900 cycles at a high rate of 5 A g −1 .

Abstract:Sodium-ion battery (SIB) as one of the most promising large-scale energy storage devices has drawn great attention in recent years. However, the development of SIBs is limited by the lacking of proper anodes with long cycling lifespans and large reversible capacities. Here we present rational synthesis of Rayleigh-instability-induced bismuth nanorods encapsulated in N-doped carbon nanotubes (Bi@N-C) using Bi2S3 nanobelts as the template for high-performance SIB. The Bi@N-C electrode delivers superior sodium storage performance in half cells, including a high specific capacity (410 mA h g-1 at 50 mA g-1), long cycling lifespan (1000 cycles), and superior rate capability (368 mA h g-1 at 2 A g-1). When coupled with homemade Na3V2(PO4)3/C in full cells, this electrode also exhibits excellent performances with high power density of 1190 W kg-1 and energy density of 119 Wh kg-1total. The exceptional performance of Bi@N-C is ascribed to the unique nanorod@nanotube structure, which can accommodate volume expansion of Bi during cycling and stabilize the solid electrolyte interphase layer and improve the electronic conductivity.
Integrating Bi@C Nanospheres in Porous Hard Carbon Frameworks for Ultrafast Sodium Storage

Abstract:Sodium–ion batteries (SIBs) have emerged as an alternative technology because of their merits in abundance and cost. Realizing their real applications, however, remains a formidable challenge. One is that among the limitations of anode materials, the alloy‐type candidates tolerate fast capacity fading during cycling. Here we first synthesize a three‐dimensional framework superstructure assembled with carbon nanobelt arrays decorated with metallic Bi nanospheres coated carbon layer by themolysis of Bi‐based metal‐organic framework nanorods as anode material for SIBs. Due to the unique structural superiority, the anode design manifests excellent sodium‐storage performance in terms of high capacity, excellent cycling stability, and ultrahigh rate capability up to 80 A/g with a capacity of 308.8 mAh/g. Pairing the current anode with a perylene‐3,4,9,10‐tetracarboxylic dianhydride cathode yields a full cell that delivers the energy density up to 129 Wh/kg. The unprecedented sodium storage ability is not only attributed to the unique hybrid architecture, but also to the production of homogeneous and thin solid electrolyte interface layer and the formation of uniform porous nanostructures during cycling in ether‐based electrolyte. Importantly, we illuminate the deeper understanding of the underlying cause of performance improvement, which is vital to provide the theoretical basis for application of SIBs. A Multi-Layered Composite Assembly of Bi Nanospheres Anchored on Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Nanosheets for Ultrastable Sodium Storage

Abstract:Bismuth (Bi) is a promising anode candidate for sodium ion batteries (SIBs) with a high volumetric capacity (3765 mA h cm-3) and moderate working potential but suffers from large volume change (ca. 250%) during the sodiation/desodiation process, resulting in pulverization of the electrode, electrical contact loss, excessive accumulation of solid electrolyte interfaces, etc., devastating the cycling stability of the electrode seriously. Addressing this issue significantly relies on rational micro- and nano-structuring. Herein, we prepared a 3D multi-layered composite assembly of Bi/carbon heterojunctions with 0D bismuth nanospheres distributed and anchored on 2D nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets (NCSs), using a preorganization strategy by taking full advantage of the strong complexation ability of Bi3+. The multi-layered composite assembly is periodic and close-packed, with Bi nanospheres <25 nm, carbon nanosheets ∼30 nm, and an average interlayer space of ∼75 nm. Such a specific architecture provides abundant electrochemically active surfaces and ion migration channels as the Bi nanospheres are attached to the 2D nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets via a point-to-surface pattern. Moreover, the mono-layer Bi nanospheres oriented along the 2D-surface of NCSs are kinetically favorable for the recognition of Na+ by the active sites of Bi nanospheres as well as for avoiding the long distance migration of Na+ (external diffusion of Na+). Furthermore, thermodynamically, the small size and high surface energy of ultrasmall Bi nanospheres could contribute to high ion mobility (internal diffusion of Na+) and promote electrochemical reactions as well. The multi-layered composite assembly of Bi@NCSs (ML-Bi@NCSs) not only provides a robust 3D framework guaranteeing the whole structural stability but also ensures direct and full contact of each active nano-building block with electrolyte, thereby forming a high-throughput electron/ion transport system. When evaluated as the anode for SIBs, ML-Bi@NCSs deliver superior high-rate capability up to 30 A g-1 (specific capacity: 288 mA h g-1) and long-term cycling stability (capacity retention: 95.8% after 5000 cycles at 10 A g-1 and 90.6% after 10 000 cycles at 20 A g-1, respectively).
Bimetallic Copper Tin Sulfide Nanosheet Arrays Encapsulated in Nitrogen-Doped Carbon Shells for Boosted Sodium Storage Performance

Abstract:SnS2 has been conceived as a promising candidate for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs); however, the inferior intrinsic electrical conductivity, huge volume variation, and continuous pulverization upon cycling still hamper its practical application. To tackle these issues, a honeycomb-like hybrid architecture is delicately designed and constructed by encapsulating Cu-doped SnS2 nanosheet arrays in N-doped carbon coating (denoted as Cu-SnS2@NC). Benefitting from the synergistic effects of N-doped carbon coating and moderate Cu doping, the hybrid nanoarrays can effectively facilitate the ion/electron transfer ability, mitigate the mechanical stress, and improve the structural stability in the repeated Na+ insertion/extraction process. The optimal CuSnS2@NC nanoarrays display a remarkably high specific capacity of 1041.8 mA h g(-1) at 0.1 A g(-1) and much improved rate performance and cycling durability. By coupling the pseudocapacitive behavior-dominated Cu-SnS2@NC anode with the Na3V2(PO4)(3) cathode, the full battery provides a high energy density of 232.4 W h kg(-1) at a power density of 239.6 W kg(-1). This work shall bring more insight into the ingenious design and fabrication of bimetallic sulfide arrays as advanced anodes for SIBs.
Nanostructured Bi 2 S 3 encapsulated within three-dimensional N-doped graphene as active and flexible anodes for sodium-ion batteries

Abstract:Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have been increasingly attracting attention as a sustainable alternative to lithium-ion batteries for scalable energy storage. The key to advanced SIBs relies heavily upon the development of reliable anodes. In this respect, Bi 2 S 3 has been extensively investigated because of its high capacity, tailorable morphology, and low cost. However, the common practices of incorporating carbon species to enhance the electrical conductivity and accommodate the volume change of Bi 2 S 3 anodes so as to boost their durability for Na storage have met with limited success. Herein, we report a simple method to realize the encapsulation of Bi 2 S 3 nanorods within three-dimensional, nitrogen-doped graphene (3DNG) frameworks, targeting flexible and active composite anodes for SIBs. The Bi 2 S 3 /3DNG composites displayed outstanding Na storage behavior with a high reversible capacity (649 mAh·g –1 at 62.5 mA·g –1 ) and favorable durability (307 and 200 mAh·g –1 after 100 cycles at 125 and 312.5 mA·g –1 , respectively). In-depth characterization by in situ X-ray diffraction revealed that the intriguing Na storage process of Bi 2 S 3 was based upon a reversible reaction. Furthermore, a full, flexible SIB cell with Na 0.4 MnO 2 cathode and as-prepared composite anode was successfully assembled, and holds a great promise for next-generation, wearable energy storage applications.
Optimization of SbBix Nanoparticles Embedded in Ultra-Thin Carbon Networks for Enhanced Sodium/potassium Storage

Abstract:The alloy proportions of SbBix show obvious influence on sodium/potassium storage. Herein, SbBix nanoparticles embedded in ultra-thin carbon networks (SbBix@C, x = 1, 0.5, 0.15) are successfully synthesized by a facile salt template assisted pyrolysis method. The effect of different alloy proportions on the chemical and electrochemical properties of active materials is revealed. Density functional theory calculation demonstrates that SbBi0.5 has the smallest formation energy (-5.131 eV) and the smallest volume expansion rate for both sodium/potassium storage (222%/376%). Benefiting from the optimized volume expansion for both sodium/potassium storage and carbon networks structure, the optimized SbBi0.5@C anode shows high reversible capacities of 301 mAh/g and 390 mAh/g after 100 cycles at 0.1 A/g for sodium/potassium storage, respectively. It is also observed that the SbBi0.5@C anode delivers different behaviours of sodium/potassium storage, which is due to the various composition of SEI films formed after sodium/potassium storage. It is believed that this work provides a synthetic strategy for fabricating alloy-type anode materials for SIBs/PIBs, in view of structure design and the regulation of alloy proportion.
Yolk‐Shell Sb2S3@C Hollow Microspheres with Controllable Interiors for High Space Utilization and Structural Stability of Na‐storage

Abstract:Structural stability, space utilization and appropriate working potentials are the most crucial parameters for evaluating the practical application of various electrode materials in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). To obtain a high-performance anode material for SIBs, a novel Sb2S3@carbon composite with unique and controllable hollow microspherical structures is prepared through a facile and large-scalable approach. By adjusting the precursor concentrations, yolk-shell and simple hollow Sb2S3@carbon microspheres are obtained respectively. The formation mechanisms of different hollow interiors are discussed. It is found that simple hollow Sb2S3@carbon microspheres tend to collapse into fragments when being used as the anode materials of SIBs, leading to severe electrolyte decomposition and high charge-transfer resistance. In contrast, yolk-shell Sb2S3@carbon not only possesses high space utilization, but also preserves the microspherical structure well after long-term sodiation/desodiation reactions, endowing it with high capacity, good cycling stability, and fast charge/discharge capability.
A Fast‐Charging and Ultra‐Stable Sodium‐Ion Battery Anode Enabled by N‐Doped Bi/BiOCl in a Carbon Framework

Abstract:A fast‐charging SIB anode, N‐doped Bi/BiOCl embedded in a carbon framework, with a fast Na+ transport channel, is developed. Density functional theory calculations confirm that the anode is theoretically characterized to have a low Na+ transport barrier (0.056 eV) and outstanding electronic conductivity. Owing to the abundant reserves and low cost, sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) have garnered unprecedented attention. However, their widespread adoption is hindered by the scarcity of alternative anodes with fast‐charging capability and high stability. To overcome this challenge, a fast‐charging SIB anode, N‐doped Bi/BiOCl embedded in a carbon framework (Bi/BiOCl@NC) with a fast Na+ transport channel and ultra‐high structural stability, is developed. During cycling in ether electrolyte, Bi/BiOCl@NC undergoes a remarkable transformation into a 3D porous skeleton, which significantly reduces the Na+ transport pathway and accommodates volume changes. By employing density functional theory calculations to simulate the storage behavior of Na+ in the structure, Bi/BiOCl@NC is theoretically characterized to have a low Na+ transport barrier (0.056 eV) and outstanding electronic conductivity. Such unique characteristics induce Bi/BiOCl@NC anode to have an ultra‐high Na+ storage capacity of 410 mAh·g−1 at 20 A·g−1 and exhibit outstanding cycling stability with over 2300 cycles at 10 A·g−1. This study provides a rational scenario for the fast‐charging anode design and will enlighten more advanced research to promote the exploitation of SIBs.

Abstract:Bismuth (Bi) has emerged as a promising candidate for sodium-ion battery anodes because of its unique layered crystal structure, superior volumetric capacity, and high theoretical gravimetric capacity. However, the large volume expansion and severe aggregation of Bi during the alloying/dealloying reactions are extremely detrimental to cycling stability, which seriously hinders its practical application. To overcome these issues, we propose an effective synthesis of composite materials, encapsulating Bi nanoparticles in N,S co-doped carbon nanoribbons and composites with carbon nanotubes (N,S-C@Bi/CNT), using Bi 2 S 3 nanobelts as templates. The uniform distribution of Bi nanoparticles and the structure of carbon nanoribbons can reduce the diffusion path of ions/electrons, efficiently buffer the large volume change and prevent Bi from aggregating during cycles. As expected, the N,S-C@Bi/CNT electrode shows superior sodium storage performance in half cells, including a high specific capacity (345.3 mA h g −1 at 1.0 A g −1 ), long cycling stability (1000 cycles), and superior rate capability (336.0 mA h g −1 at 10.0 A g −1 ).

Abstract:The sodium ion batteries (SIBs) are a promising candidate for large-scale energy storage owing to the abundance and low cost of sodium resources. However, the absence of suitable anode materials with desired rate capability and cycle stability is one of the bottlenecks for their commercialization. In this work, WS2/Ni3S2@N-doped carbon composite (WS2/Ni3S2@NC) was prepared by using a simple solvothermal approach with subsequent annealing approach. The material was used as anode material for SIBs. The batteries showed excellent performance due to the special bimetallic sulfide heterostructure, which could provide reaction active sites, promote fast Na ions diffusion, and increase electrode/electrolyte contact. In addition, the in-situ synthesized N-doped carbon layer could effectively improve the electronic conductivity as well as maintain structural stability. As anode of SIBs, the WS2/Ni3S2@NC exhibits both excellent rate performance (329.6 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1, and 129.6 mAh g−1 at 5.0 A g−1) and outstanding cycling stability (219.7 mAh g−1 after 80 cycles at 0.1 A g−1) due to the pseudocapacitive behavior.

[Auditory evoked potentials in addicts to organic solvent inhalation].

Abstract:Organic solvents affect the membrane lipids of neurons and glial cell. This led us to search for auditory damage, by means of brainstem auditory evoked responses, in subjects with chronic inhalation of thinner. Waves III and V showed delayed latency at an intensity of 90 dB, and wave V was delayed at 70 and 30 dB; the interwave intervals I-III and I-V at 90 dB and the interpeak I-V at 70 dB were also retarded. Three subjects did not show a response to stimulation at 30 dB: pure tone audiometry showed biaural mild hypoacusia in them. These results show that chronic inhalation of thinner may alter the auditory pathway of addicts.

Abstract:Heterostructure engineering offers significant potential to advance the energy storage capabilities of sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). The typical presence of rich surface states in nanosemiconductors, however, introduces substantial surface barriers that impede surface conductivity, thereby limiting the performance of batteries. Herein, we developed a mix-dimensional van der Waals heterostructure (Bi 2 S 3 @NC/SnS 2 @NC) by synthesizing p-type SnS 2 nanosheets on n-type Bi 2 S 3 nanorods, bridged with an ultrathin nitrogen-doped carbon (NC) layer. This structure served as an anode, improving electrochemical performance through additional redox reaction sites and a porous structure that supports electrolyte flow and Na + transport. This reduces mechanical stress during charging cycles, maintaining structural integrity. Most critically, theoretical and experimental analyses show that the NC layer passivates interface states, enhancing the built-in electrical field and reducing electron and Na + transport resistance, thereby boosting redox activity. Consequently, the Bi 2 S 3 @NC/SnS 2 @NC anode exhibits a high specific capacity of 290 mAh g -1 after 1400 cycles at 5 A g -1 , and 233.6 mAh g -1 at a high rate of 10 A g -1 . In full-cell setups with Na 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 cathodes, it can maintain 461.4 mAh g -1 after 100 cycles at 0.1 A g -1 . This work demonstrates the crucial role of heterostructure engineering in advancing efficient energy storage solutions.

CoSe2 Nanodots Confined in Multidimensional Porous Nanoarchitecture towards Efficient Sodium Ion Storage

Abstract:Sodium ion batteries (SIBs) are a low-cost and promising alternative to lithium ion batteries, however, due to the large sodium ion size (Na+ vs Li+: 1.02 Å vs 0.76 Å), high ion diffusion barrier and huge volume variation of electrode materials, it remains a challenge to achieve satisfactory Na+ storage performance. To address these issues, herein, we deliberately designed a multidimensional porous anode for SIBs, which was constructed by zero-dimensional (0D) ultrasmall CoSe2 nanodots confined in one-dimensional (1D) porous carbon nanowires (CNWs) and well encapsulated within three-dimensional (3D) graphene (3DG/CoSe2@CNWs). The fabricated 3DG/CoSe2@CNWs nanoarchitecture exhibits plentiful reactive sites, interconnected conductive network, abundant ion transport channels, and double protective structure. Thus, it showed enhanced Na+ storage performance with high reversible capacities (543 mA h g−1 at 0.1 A g−1) and superior long-term cycling performance with a capacity retention of 86.1% at 2 A g−1, and when coupled with 3D graphene/Prussian blue (3DG/PB) cathodes, the full batteries also delivered enhanced electrochemical performance. Furthermore, its efficient Na+ storage mechanisms were proved by the reaction kinetics analysis and density functional theory calculations. Our work provides a new electrode design strategy based on multidimensional nanoarchitecture for high-performance energy storage devices.

Abstract:In this study, a rod-like heterogeneous Bi 2 S 3 /Sb 2 S 3 was systematically engineered through a simple one-step hydrothermal method and subsequently used as an anode active material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). The Bi 2 S 3 /Sb 2 S 3 heterostructure electrode exhibits a high initial discharge capacity of 972.2 mAh g −1 and maintains a reversible capacity of 369.4 mAh g −1 after 500 cycles at a current density of 1 A g −1 . The outstanding electrochemical performance of the Bi 2 S 3 /Sb 2 S 3 electrode can be attributed to the synergistic contributions of the high capacity of Sb 2 S 3 and the excellent stability of Bi 2 S 3 . Simultaneously, the abundant heterogeneous phase boundaries formed by Bi 2 S 3 and Sb 2 S 3 provide stable reaction interfaces, better structural integrity, and enhanced Na + reaction kinetics. This work presents an opportunity to develop heterogeneous Bi 2 S 3 /Sb 2 S 3 anode materials with excellent properties, holding promise for potential applications in SIBs.

Abstract:An additive‐assisted electrospinning strategy for the rational construction of SnS quantum dots structures confined homogeneously within N‐doped carbon nanofibers is reported. Lithium azides served as inhibitors are decomposed during pre‐oxidation process, resulting in strong repulsive forces which can prevent the growth of crystal nuclei during the thermal treatment, leading to extraordinary electrochemical performance for the resulted composite. Tin sulfide (SnS) is an attractive anode for sodium ion batteries (NIBs) because of its high theoretical capacity, while it seriously suffers from the inherently poor conductivity and huge volume variation during the cycling process, leading to inferior lifespan. To intrinsically maximize the sodium storage of SnS, herein, lithium azides (LiN3)‐induced SnS quantum dots (QDs) are first reported using a simple electrospinning strategy, where SnS QDs are uniformly distributed in the carbon fibers. Taking the advantage of LiN3, which can effectively prevent the growth of crystal nuclei during the thermal treatment, the well‐dispersed SnS QDs performs superior Na+ transfer kinetics and pseudocapacitive when used as an anode material for NIBs. The 3D SnS quantum dots embedded uniformly in N‐doped nanofibers (SnS QDs@NCF) electrodes display superior long cycling life‐span (484.6 mAh g−1 after 5800 cycles at 2 A g−1 and 430.9 mAh g−1 after 7880 cycles at 10 A g−1), as well as excellent rate capability (422.3 mAh g−1 at 20 A g−1). This fabrication of transition metal sulfides QDs composites provide a feasible strategy to develop NIBs with long life‐span and superior rate capability to pave its practical implementation.

Abstract:– The purpose of this paper is to explore the use of political party websites for e-electioneering and their impact on the outcome of the elections. , – Empirical data for the study were collected from the websites of 11 major political parties of Pakistan using modified version of the coding scheme used by Gibson, Rommele and Ward for the evaluation of functionality and delivery of websites. Data were analysed using web content analysis method to achieve the objectives of this study. The study also ranked the party websites based on points scored for functionalities and delivery. , – The study found that although Pakistani political parties have started using their websites for communication with their voters during the general elections but they have not utilized the full potential of the website functionalities for e-electioneering. , – The study focused on content analysis of political party websites of Pakistan only. However, comparisons were made to other studies where possible to contextualize the results of this study in international perspective. It is suggested to replicate this study after ten years to study the changing behaviour of political parties. , – Political parties might like to improve their websites in the light of findings of this study to spread their message more effectively to larger voter base. , – Findings of the study will help in improving the readiness of political parties for e-electioneering and improved websites will help voters in making an informed decision during election. It will overall improve the electoral process in the country where democratic system is not very strong. , – With the advent of internet, political parties are using their websites during elections for various purposes. This study, first ever in Pakistan on the topic, provides empirical evidence on the use of political party websites during May 2013 general election in Pakistan and presents its impact on the outcome of the election. The study will be valuable for political science researchers especially those focusing on Asia and Pakistan.

Abstract:Guided by theoretical insights, this study has reported an efficient anode of a flower‐like micro‐sized bismuth encapsulated within an elastic, nitrogen‐doped carbon framework for Na‐ion batteries, yielding synchronously a large reversible volumetric capacity, high‐rate capability, and long‐term durability. Its underlying Na+‐storage mechanisms and origins of the performance enhancement are thoroughly elucidated through extensive experimental characterizations and theoretical analyses. Micro‐sized bismuth (Bi) is recognized for its high volumetric capacity and suitable working potential, making it a promising anode candidate for sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs). However, its substantial volume changes and slow reaction kinetics during cycling detrimentally affects the SIB performance. Theoretical prediction uncovers a previously unexplored favorable attribute that bonding between nitrogen within a carbon coating and Bi atoms facilitates Na+ ingress into the Bi bulk, significantly enhancing Bi‐Na alloying reactions, mitigating volume expansion, and preventing Na‐dendrite formation. Experimentally, the study innovatively engineers a flower‐like micro‐sized Bi encapsulated within an elastic, nitrogen‐doped carbon framework (FBi@NC) working as an efficient anode for SIBs. This design enables FBi@NC anode achieving a high tap density of 2.86 g cm−3 and delivering a remarkable volumetric capacity of 1100 mAh cm−3 at 1 mA cm−2. It also exhibits exceptional rate capability (368.2 mA h g−1 at 30 A g−1) and super durable cyclability (10 000 cycles with 318.8 mA h g−1 at 5 A g−1, retaining 82% capacity). Full cells with Na3V2(PO4)3 cathodes demonstrate superior rate and cycling performances. Crucially, this study elucidates the underlying Na+‐storage mechanisms and the contributory factors to performance enhancement, providing vital insights for the development of high‐energy and stable SIBs.

Abstract:Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) have been acknowledged as a particularly promising supplement to lithium-ion batteries, thanks to the abundant sodium resources, geographically-wide distribution and low cost. However, the large volume expansion hence poor structural stability of the anode in the Na + insertion/deinsertion process severely compromises the rate performance of SIBs. Herein, we report the hierarchical, hollow structured nanocages of nickel-cobalt bimetallic selenide covered by nitrogen-doped carbon shell (NiCo 3 Se 4 @NC) as anode material for SIB. The hollow structure and the abundant holes on the cage walls greatly shorten the transfer distance for Na + ions and buffer the volume expansion during the Na + storage process. The bimetallic form expands the lattice spacing meanwhile increase the density of states near Fermi level. Moreover, the highly-conductive NC shell further benefits the charge transfer and structural stability upon Na + storage, and promotes the cycle stability. As a result, surface-responsive capacitive-dominated kinetic process is revealed from the NiCo 3 Se 4 @NC anode, delivering a high reversible capacity of 416 mAh g –1 at a current density of 0.05 A g –1 and 314 mAh g –1 at 2 A g –1 . This work proposes an efficient strategy to substantially increase the rate performance and cycle stability of SIBs.

Abstract:Reducing the synthesis costs of electrode materials and improving their electrochemical performance remain key issues regarding the application of sodium–ion batteries (SIBs) in large–scale energy storage devices. Antimony sulfide (Sb2S3) is a promising anode material for SIBs because of its high theoretical capacity. However, its poor electrical conductivity and volume expansion hinder its practical application. Aspergillus niger is an environmentally friendly, low–cost, and renewable fungus with a one–dimensional (1D) structure, it has high application value as a natural carbon source in energy storage materials. Herein, Sb2S3 composite N–doped carbon ribbons (Sb2S3@NCRs) are prepared using Aspergillus niger via the gas–phase sulfuration method. These Sb2S3@NCRs show excellent electrochemical performance as anode materials for SIBs. Using Na3V2(PO4)3 (NVP) as the counter electrode, here Sb2S3@NCRs//NVP is show to maintain a reversible specific capacity of 208 mAh·g−1 at 0.2 A g−1 after 100 cycles. In addition, the step–wise transformation and alloying reactions of Sb2S3@NCRs were verify using in situ X–ray diffraction (XRD) tests. This simple and inexpensive synthesis method provides a new strategy for creating other low–cost large–scale energy storage materials.
