Abstract:Objectives: To analyze the rules of acupoint selection and compatibility of acupuncture and moxibustion in treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) based on complex network technology and provide the reliable evidences for acupoint selection in treatment of this disease with acupuncture and moxibustion. Methods: The clinical studies on acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of IBD were searched from the databases including CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, PubMed and Embase. The studies were screened and the acupoint prescriptions were extracted to set up the database of acupuncture-moxibustion treatment for IBD. Using Microsoft Excel 2021 software, the use times of acupoint, the use frequency (%) of acupoint, meridian tropism and the use of special point were imported. With SPSS Modeler 18.0 software adopted, the association rules were analyzed on the acupoint prescriptions. The acupoint co-occurrence network diagram, k-core network diagram, and community analysis diagram were drawn by Gephi 0.9.5 software. Results: A total of 156 studies were included, composed of 175 acupoint prescriptions, 75 acupoints, with 1 378 use times in total and around 8 acupoints in one prescription. Regarding the top use frequency, Tianshu (ST25), Zusanli (ST36), Guanyuan (CV4), Zhongwan (CV12) and Pishu (BL20) were listed. The top meridians involved were the foot-yangming stomach meridian, the foot-taiyang bladder meridian and the Conception Vessel. The front-mu point had been used with the highest frequency among the special points. ST36 and ST25 were a pair of points with the highest frequency in treatment. The k-core hierarchical analysis was adopted to optimize acupoint prescriptions, and 22 core acupoints were obtained, i.e. ST25, ST36, CV4, CV12, BL20, Dachangshu (BL25), Shangjuxu (ST37), Shenshu (BL23), Qihai (CV6), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Mingmen (GV4), Xingjian (LR2), Yinlingquan (SP9), Neiting (ST44), Taichong (LR3), Xiajuxu (ST39), Shuifen (CV9), Shenque (CV8), Ganshu (BL18), Weishu (BL21), Hegu (LI4) and Quchi(LI11), which were classified into three core acupoint groups by community analysis. Conclusions: Through complex network analysis, it is found that the local acupoints on the chest and abdomen are generally selected in treatment with acupuncture-moxibustion for IBD, the combination of the nearby and distal points is considered simulta-neously, and the acupoint prescription is modified according to syndrome/pattern differentiation；and among special points, the front-mu point is widely used in treatment. All of these rules provide the ideas for the acupoint selection of acupuncture-moxibustion in treatment of IBD.
Evidence and acupoint combinations in acupuncture for functional dyspepsia: an overview of systematic review and data mining study

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the methodological quality of papers that performed meta-analyzed and systematically reviewed acupoint selections for the treatment of functional dyspepsia (FD) and to identify the ideal acupoint combinations for FD. Methods Chinese databases including China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), China Biology Medicine (CBM), and Wanfang Database, as well as English databases including PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched to retrieve papers about meta-analysis and systematic literature reviews on acupuncture for FD. The time span for the paper retrieval was set from the foundation of the databases to April 30, 2022. The Veritas scores of the papers based on their publication year, study type, Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews 2 (AMSTAR2), Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA), heterogeneity, and publication bias were rated to assess the methodological quality of the included studies. Then, randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were extracted from those meta-analysis papers or systematic literature reviews for analyzing acupoints frequency, meridian frequency, and association rules with the use of R software (V 4.3.1). Results Eight meta-analysis papers were included in the study after screening. The mean Veritas scores of the papers based on publication year, type of study, AMSTAR2, PRISMA, heterogeneity, and publication bias were 4.50, 8.00, 4.63, 4.63, 4.50, and 6.13, respectively. The analysis of the scores revealed insufficiencies in the reviews pertaining to the methodology, comprehension of the research strategy, detailed list of excluded studies, sources of funding, assessment of potential bias risks impact on meta-analysis results in each study, explanation of heterogeneity, and identification of potential conflicts of interest. Furthermore, a total of 85 RCTs were obtained from the eight meta-analysis papers involving 85 acupuncture prescriptions and 67 acupoints for subsequent data mining. The most commonly used meridian was Stomach meridian of Foot-Yangming (ST). Zusanli (ST36), Neiguan (PC6), Zhongwan (CV12), Taichong (LR3), Tianshu (ST25), Gongsun (SP4), Weishu (BL21), Pishu (BL20), Neiting (ST44), and Yinlingquan (SP9) topped the list of frequently selected acupoints. Additionally, a total of 28 association rules were identified, including 10 second-order, 15 third-order, and 3 fourth-order association rules. The top-ranking association rules in each order were "Neiguan (PC6) → Zusanli (ST36)" "Zhongwan (CV12) + Neiguan (PC6) → Zusanli (ST36)" and "Zhongwan (CV12) + Taichong (LR3) + Neiguan (PC6) → Zusanli (ST36)", respectively. Conclusion Acupuncture could alleviate the clinical symptoms of FD. However, the quality of methodology applied in the meta-analysis papers on the subject needs to be improved. Through data mining, a combination of Neiguan (PC6), Zusanli (ST36), Zhongwan (CV12), and Taichong (LR3) was identified as an essential acupoint combination for the treatment of FD.

Abstract:Objectives: To analyze the rules of acupoint selection in treatment of cancer-related insomnia with acupuncture and moxibustion by data mining technology. Methods: The articles of cancer-related insomnia treated with acupuncture and moxibustion were searched from CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, WOS, Cochrane, and Embase databases, from the inception of each database to January 5, 2024. The prescription database of acupuncture and moxibustion for cancer-related insomnia was established. The descriptive analysis was conducted on the use frequency, meridian tropism and distribution of acupoints. Using SPSS Modeler 18.0 Apriori algorithm, the association rules of acupoint prescriptions were analyzed. With Cytoscape3.9.1 software used, the complex network diagram was plotted, and the cluster analysis of high-frequency acupoints was performed by SPSS26.0 software. Results: Forty-one articles were included, and 67 prescriptions were extracted with 89 acupoints involved, and the total use frequency was 447 times. The top 4 acupoints of the high use frequency were Baihui (GV20), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Shenmen (HT7) and Shenting (GV24). The included meridians were the governor vessel, the spleen meridian, the bladder meridian, the conception vessel, the heart meridian and the stomach meridian. The selected acupoints were mostly distributed on the head, the neck and and the upper and lower limbs. The special acupoints of the high use frequency included the five-Shu points, the crossing points and yuan-primordial points. Regarding acupoint combination, GV24, SP6, HT7, and GV20 were highly correlated. The three effective clusters were categorized among the top 12 acupoints of the high use frequency. Conclusions: In treatment of cancer-related insomnia with acupuncture and moxibustion, the principle focuses on supporting the healthy qi, eliminating pathogens, regulating yin and yang, promoting the circulation of the governor vessel for regulating the spirit, and tranquilizing the mind. The core acupoint prescription may includes GV24, SP6, HT7 and GV20；combined with Zusanli (ST36) and Yintang (GV4+) to enhance the therapeutic effect.

Abstract:Objective: To analyze the rules of acupoint and medication selection of acupoint application therapy for functional constipation (FC) by data mining technology. Methods: The clinical research literature regarding acupoint application therapy for FC from published to February 26, 2020 was searched in CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, SinoMed and PubMed. The prescriptions were extracted, and by using SPSS24.0 and SPSS Modeler14.0 software, the use of high-frequency acupoints and medication was summarized. The association rule analysis, cluster analysis and core prescription analysis of acupoints and medication were analyzed. Results: A total of 122 prescriptions of acupoint application therapy were included, involving 32 acupoints. The core prescription of acupoints was Tianshu (ST 25), Dachangshu (BL 25), Shenque (CV 8) and Guanyuan (CV 4). The high-frequency meridians mainly included conception vessel, yangming stomach meridian of foot and taiyang bladder meridian of foot. The core prescription of medication was rheum officinale, mirabilite, immature bitter orange, mangnolia officinalis, common aucklandia root and borneol. Conclusion: The use of local acupoint and regulating-qi and purgating medication is an important principle of acupoint application therapy for FC.

Abstract:摘要背景本研究通过数据挖掘技术总结分析针灸治疗功能性消化不良(FD)的穴位组方规律. 方法系统检索9个数据库, 基于关联规则挖掘和网络分析, 对FD治疗中的穴位处方进行提取和分析.通过正向推理,反向推理,贝叶斯分析等方法对伴有烦躁症状的FD患者的穴位处方进行深入分析. 结果共纳入45篇文献, 涉及30个穴位, 总应用频次为172次, 涉及29个经穴和1个奇穴, 分布于10条经脉.使用频率居前三位的穴位分别为足三里(19.77%),内关(16.86%)和中脘(12.21%).穴位涉及经脉最多的是足阳明胃经(34次).最常用的穴位组合为内关和足三里.核心处方为足三里,内关,天枢,中脘.对于伴有烦躁症状的FD患者, 经正向推理, 穴位处方为:内关,太冲,期门,中脘,膻中,天枢,足三里;采用反向推理和贝叶斯分析, 穴位处方为:内关,中脘,膻中,三阴交,天枢,足三里. 结论:足三里 ,内关,天枢,中脘可作为治疗FD患者的主要处方.对于伴有烦躁症状的FD患者, 可同时穴取内关,中脘,膻中,天枢,足三里. Background The aim of the study was to explore the regularity of acupoints combination in the treatment of functional dyspepsia (FD) by means of data mining technology. Methods We conducted a systematic search of nine databases from their inception to December 2022 to identify eligible randomized control trials (RCTs). The acupoints prescriptions in the treatment of FD were extracted and analyzed based on association rule mining and network analysis. Furthermore, the acupoints prescribed for irritability symptom of FD were quantified by forward inference, reverse inference and Bayes factor (BF) correction. Results A total of 45 RCTs on 30 acupoints were included, involving 172 times the total application frequency. Analysis of acupoints prescriptions covered 29 meridian acupoints and one extra-ordinary point, disturbing in 10 meridians. The top three acupoints in application frequency were Zusanli (ST36, 19.77%), Neiguan (PC6, 16.86%), Zhongwan (CV12, 12.21%). The most involved meridian was the foot yangming stomach meridian (34 times). The most frequently used acupoints combinations were PC6 and ST36. The core prescriptions were ST36, PC6, Tianshu(ST25), CV12. The specificities of acupoints selection for FD with dysphoria as follows: using the forward inference, PC6, Taichong(LR3), Qimen(LR14), CV12, Danzhong(CV17), ST25, ST36 were selected. Using the reverse inference and BF correction, PC6, CV12, CV17, Sanyinjiao(SP6), ST25, ST36 were selected. Conclusion ST36, PC6, ST25, CV12 could be used as the main prescriptions in treating FD. For FD with dysphoria the acupoints prescription is PC6, CV12, CV17, ST25 and ST36.

Study of the clinical distinctions of acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of acute gouty arthritis based on complex networks

Abstract:Objective To discuss the point-selection and point-grouping patterns and therapeutic application features in acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of acute gouty arthritis (AGA) based on complex networks and to provide references for treating AGA with acupuncture-moxibustion therapy. Methods Articles related to acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of AGA were searched across the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Chongqing VIP Database (CQVIP), Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform (Wanfang), Chinese Biomedical Literature Service System (SinoMed), PubMed, Web of Science (WOS), and Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE) from their inception till March 31, 2023. An acupuncture-moxibustion prescription database was established after the articles were screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The association rule and complex network analyses of points were conducted using SPSS Modeler 18.1 and Gephi 0.9.7. Results A total of 145 articles were collected, contributing 382 pieces of acupuncture-moxibustion prescriptions involving 104 points with a total frequency of 1 288. Ashi points contributed the highest frequency. The Spleen Meridian of Foot-Taiyin and the Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming were more commonly selected. Filiform-needle acupuncture and bloodletting therapy were more frequently used. The association rule analysis revealed that the highest degree of support belonged to "Ashi point-Zusanli (ST36)" and "Sanyinjiao (SP6)-Zusanli (ST36)", which reflected the rules of point combination of distal and proximal areas and point combination of the coupled meridians. The complex network analysis of the major points discovered a core point prescription mainly consisting of Ahi point, Zusanli (ST36), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Yinlingquan (SP9), and Taichong (LR3). Pattern differentiation and region differentiation were used in selecting adjunct points, stressing the improvements of patterns and joint-related symptoms. Conclusion Acupuncture-moxibustion treatment of AGA follows the principle of combining major points with adjunct points selected based on pattern or region differentiation; the selection of major points focuses on regulating the deficient Zang-Fu organs, and the selection of adjunct points emphasizes improving patterns and symptoms. The specificity of therapeutic effects is also stressed.

Abstract:Objective: To explore the rules of acupoint selection and pattern-acupoint relationship in treatment with acupuncture and moxibustion for endometriosis (EMs) based on complex network analysis technology. Methods: The articles for clinical trial of EMs treated with acupuncture and moxibustion were searched from CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, EMbase and Cochrane Library from the inception of the databases to December 14, 2022. Using Microsoft Excel 2019 software, the database was established to collect the use frequency of acupoint, meridian tropism, location and pattern-acupoint relationship. SPSS Modeler 18.0 Apriori algorithm was adopted to conduct the association rule analysis, Cytoscape3.7.2 software was used to plot the complex co-occurrence network map; and SPSS Statistics 26.0 was adopted to perform hierarchical cluster analysis on high-frequency acupoints and a tree diagram was drawn. Results: A total of 163 articles were included, and 167 core acupoint prescriptions and 74 pattern-associated acupoint prescriptions were extracted, involving 92 acupoints, with a cumulative frequency of 1 223 times. The top five acupoints with the highest use frequency were Guanyuan (CV 4), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Zhongji (CV 3), Zigong (EX-CA 1) and Qihai (CV 6). The selected acupoints were mostly distributed in the chest, abdomen and lower limbs; and the involved meridians included the conception vessel, the spleen meridian of foot-taiyin and the stomach meridian of foot-yangming. The acupoint compatibility of high frequency referred to Guanyuan (CV 4) - Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Guanyuan (CV 4) - Zhongji (CV 3), and Guanyuan (CV 4) - Zigong (EX-CA 1). The close association was presented among Guanyuan (CV 4), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Qihai (CV 6) and Zhongji (CV 3), which had the strongest connection with the other acupoints; among the top 25 acupoints with the highest use frequency, 5 acupoint prescriptions with high frequency were obtained by the cluster analysis. Guanyuan (CV 4), Qihai (CV 6), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Zigong (EX-CA 1) and Zhongji (CV 3) were selected for cold and blood stagnation; Guanyuan (CV 4), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Zhongji (CV 3), Dahe (KI 12) and Taixi (KI 3) for kidney deficiency and blood stagnation; Zhongji (CV 3), Guanyuan (CV 4), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Xuehai (SP 10) and Diji (SP 8) for qi and blood stagnation; Qihai (CV 6), Guanyuan (CV 4), Zusanli (ST 36), Xuehai (SP 10), and Zigong (EX-CA 1) for qi deficiency and blood stagnation; Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Fenglong (ST 40), Zhongliao (BL 33), Ciliao (BL 32) and Xialiao (BL 34) for interaction of phlegm and stasis; and Daheng (SP 15), Guanyuan (CV 4), Zhongji (CV 3), Qihai (CV 6) and Zhongwan (CV 12) for retention of damp and heat. Conclusion: The core acupoints are Guanyuan (CV 4), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Zhongji (CV 3), Qihai (CV 6) and Zigong (EX-CA 1) in treatment of endometriosis with acupuncture and moxibustion. Six patterns/syndromes are involved in clinical practice. In terms of the properties, functions and indications, the supplementary acupoints are selected on the basis of the core acupoints for different patterns/sydnromes of the disease.
Medication rule and mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine in treating metabolism-associated fatty liver disease based on bioinformatics technology

Abstract:[Objective] To analyze the main syndrome types, medication rules, and core prescription characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of metabolism-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD), and to predict the anti-MAFLD mechanism of core formula, so as to provide references for the clinical application of TCM and the development of new drugs. [Methods] Literature research on TCM in treating MAFLD was retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), and Wanfang Database since the establishment of the database to July 2022. Excel 2019 and Chinese Medicine Inheritance Computing Platform (V3.0) were used for frequency analysis, association rule analysis, and cluster analysis of effective prescriptions. The key components, targets, and action pathways of anti-MAFLD core formulas were predicted by network pharmacology. Finally, the interactions between the obtained core components and their core targets were verified reversely by molecular docking technology. [Results] A total of 218 articles were screened and selected, including 352 prescriptions, involving 270 traditional Chinese herbs. The drugs were used a total of 3 901 times, and a total of 10 915 cases were collected, among which the prevalence rate was higher in males. The main types of TCM syndrome included intermingled phlegm and blood stasis syndrome, liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome, and damp-heat in liver and gallbladder syndrome, among which Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus), Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), and Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) were the most frequently used. The properties of Chinese medicine primarily encompassed thermal characteristics, with a predominant emphasis on cold and warm; the flavors of herbs were predominantly characterized by bitterness and sweetness, while the majority exhibited tropism towards the spleen and liver meridians. The drugs were primarily classified based on their efficacy in tonifying deficiencies, promoting diuresis and moistening, enhancing blood circulation and removing blood stasis, heat-clearing, etc. The association rules were employed to derive a set of 20 core drug pairs, while cluster analysis was utilized to identify three distinct groups of core drug combinations. Network pharmacological showed that the main components of the core formula “Shanzha (Crataegi Fructus) - Danshen (Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) - Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma) - Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix) - Fuling (Poria)” in the treatment of MAFLD were quercetin, apigenin, puerarin, luteolin, ursolic acid, kaempferol, tanshinone IIA, emodin, paeonol, etc., which involved RAC-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 (AKT1), cellular tumor antigen p53 (TP53), interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3), epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), peroxisome proliferative activated receptor gamma (PPARG), and other key targets. The molecular docking results showed that the core components had good binding to lipid and atherosclerosis, and phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI3K)/AKT signaling pathway-associated proteins. [Conclusion] The main principles of TCM for the treatment of MAFLD involve soothing the liver and strengthening the spleen, eliminating phlegm and dampness, clearing heat and dampness, as well as promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis. The core formula may exert anti-MAFLD effects mediated through multiple components, targets, and signaling pathways. This study establishes a theoretical foundation for the clinical application of TCM in the treatment of MAFLD, and serves as a reference for further exploration of new drugs against MAFLD.

The data presented in the present report serve to illustrate the general trends of the weight response, as affected by sex and X-ray dose, which have uniformly occurred in the lethal X-ray dose range under the conditions herein described for total-body exposure. This study is concerned with the acute manifestations of radiation damage, as opposed to the long-range effects of chronic radiation exposures on body weight and growth as reported by Sacher (1) and Lorenz (2).

Abstract:Objective: To explore the characteristics and rule of clinical acupoint selection in treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Methods: The clinical articles of acupuncture in treatment of AECOPD were retrieved from the databases of PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP and SinoMed, from the date of establishment to July 15, 2020. The articles were screened in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the prescriptions of acupuncture and the relevant information of the acupoints and meridians were extracted to establish the database. The data mining methods i.e. Apriori association rule analysis and cluster analysis were used to analyse the using frequency, involving meridians, acupoint distributions, association rules and cluster of selected acupoints. Results: A total of 54 articles were included, 67 acupuncture prescriptions were extracted, 69 acupoints were involved and the total using frequency was 475 times. The top 5 acupoints in frequency were Danzhong (CV 17), Feishu (BL 13), Zusanli (ST 36), Fenglong (ST 40) and Dingchuan (EX-B1). The main involved meridians were bladder meridian of foot-taiyang, conception vessel, stomach meridian of foot-yangming and lung meridian of hand-taiyin. The acupoints were mainly distributed in chest and abdomen, waist and dorsum. The mainly selected special points were five-shu points, front-mu points, convergent points and back-shu points. Twenty strong association rules were summarized by association rule analysis, including Fenglong (ST 40)Þ Zusanli (ST 36), Fengmen (BL 12)Þ Danzhong (CV 17), Tianshu (ST 25)Þ Zhongwan (CV 12), Dingchuan (EX-B1)+ Feishu (BL 13) Þ Danzhong (CV 17), Fenglong (ST 40)+ Feishu (BL 13) Þ Zusanli (ST 36), etc. Five cluster groups were summarized by cluster analysis, i.e. ①Feishu (BL 13), ② Dingchuan (EX-B1) and Danzhong (CV 17), ③ Chize (LU 5), Lieque (LU 7) and Fengmen (BL 12), ④Zusanli (ST 36) and Fenglong (ST 40), ⑤Tianshu (ST 25), Guanyuan (CV 4) and Zhongwan (CV 12). Conclusion: The local acupoints and acupoints along meridians are the main acupuncture prescriptions for AECOPD, and the special points are the predominated selection. The acupoint compatibility embodies the therapeutic principle of "strengthening vital qi to eliminate pathogenic factors and considering both the root cause and symptoms".

Abstract:Objective: To analyze and summarize the commonalities and patterns in acupoint selection for moxibustion treatment of asthma.Methods: Data retrieval was conducted using 'moxibustion' and 'asthma' as the keywords through China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Academic Journal Full-text Database (Wanfang) and Chongqing VIP Database (CQVIP). Excel 2010 was used to establish the major acupoint database for moxibustion prescriptions in treatment of asthma; data mining methods including association patterns and clustering were adopted to analyze the characteristics and patterns in acupoint selection for moxibustion treatment of asthma.Results: A total of 161 moxibustion prescriptions were recruited. The most commonly used acupoint was Feishu (BL 13), the most commonly used meridian was the Bladder Meridian of Foot Taiyang, and the most commonly treated region was the back. The association rule analysis showed that Feishu (BL 13)-Dazhui (GV 14)-Fengmen (BL 12) had the most significant correlation, and the clustering analysis discovered 5 effective acupoint clusters.Conclusion: In moxibustion treatment of asthma, topical acupoints Feishu (BL 13), Dazhui (GV 14) and Fengmen (BL 12) can be selected, along with the acupoints from the Bladder Meridian of Foot Taiyang and the back.

Abstract:Based on the data mining technology, the rules of acupoint selection and prescription were analyzed for impotence treated with acupuncture and moxibustion in ancient recorded in Zhonghua Yidian. By taking "yangwei" and "yinwei" as the searching terms, the database of Zhonghua Yidian (the 5th edition) were retrieved and the relevant information of impotence, such as prescription provision, acupoints and use frequency were extracted. Using the software, e.g. Microsoft Excel and Weka 3.8.4, the rules of acupoint selection and prescription for impotence treated with acupuncture and moxibustion in ancient were analyzed. Fifty five provisions of acupoint prescriptions were in compliance with the requirements and screened. Of them, there were 17 compound prescriptions and the rest were the single-point prescriptions, with 24 acupoints involved. Regarding the use frequency of acupoints in treatment of impotence, the top 5 acupoints were Yingu (KI 10), Ququan (LR 8), Qichong (ST 30), Taichong (LR 3) and Rangu (KI 2). The cluster analysis found that Yingu (KI 10), Ququan (LR 8)-Qichong (ST 30), Taichong (LR 3)-Rangu (KI 2)-Xingjian (LR 2), and Mingmen (GV 4)-Zhongfeng (LR 4)-Yuji (LU 10)-Yanggu (SI 5) were formed the group prescriptions respectively. Multilayer correlation analysis discovered that the commonly used meridians were the liver meridian of foot-jueyin, the kidney meridian of foot-shaoyin, the stomach meridian of foot-yangming and the conception vessel. The acupoints selected were generally on the lower extremities, the abdomen and the upper extremities. Regarding the special points, the five-shu points and the convergent points were mostly involved. By the analysis on compound prescriptions, 3 patterns of acupoint combination were discovered, the prescription by taking Yingu (KI 10), Rangu (KI 2) and Zhongfeng (LR 4) as the key points, the one by taking Shenshu (BL 23) and Yanggu (SI 5) as the key points and the relevant fixed combination of 4 acupoints, including Taichong (LR 3), Xingjian (LR 2), Neiting (ST 44) and Xiangu (ST 43). By the analysis on the compound prescriptions, 3 common meridian combinations were found, including the combination with the kidney meridian predominated, the relevant fixed combination with the liver meridian and the stomach meridian and the one with small intestine meridian and the lung meridian.

Abstract:Objective: Asthma is a highly prevalent respiratory disease that remains difficult to control. Acupuncture, as an important alternative therapeutic modality in preventing and treating asthma, is widely used in the world due to its promising efficacy and safety. Although acupoint selection and combinations are critical to therapeutic effects of acupuncture, its fundamental rules for asthma have not been fully understood. Thus, using data mining, the present study aimed to discover the most effective acupoints and combinations in the acupuncture treatment of asthma. Methods: Controlled clinical trials (CCTs) of acupuncture treatment for asthma were searched and retrieved from databases including Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang, and PubMed. Data regarding the main acupoints prescribed in these clinical trials was collected and quantified. A network analysis was performed to uncover the interconnections between the acupoints. Additionally, hierarchical clustering analysis and association rule mining were conducted to discover the potential acupoint combinations. Results: A total of 183 CCTs were retrieved. Feishu (BL13), Dingchuan (EX-B1), Dazhui (GV14), Shengshu (BL23), Pishu (BL20), and Fengmen (BL12) appeared to be the most frequently used acupoints for asthma. While the Bladder Meridian of Foot Taiyang , the Governor Vessel, and the Conception Vessel, compared to other meridians, were found to be the more commonly selected meridians. In the acupoint interconnection network, Feishu (BL13), Fengmen (BL12), Dingchuan (EX-B1), and Dazhui (GV14) were defined as key node acupoints. Moreover, acupoint clustering analysis revealed the treatment principle of “facilitating the flow of the lung Qi, tonifying spleen and kidney, and treating both the symptoms and root causes.” Association rule mining analysis demonstrated that the combination of Pishu , Shenshu , Feishu , and Dingchuan , as well as that of Feishu , Dazhui , and Fengmen were potential acupoint combinations that should be selected with priority in asthma treatment. Conclusion: Based on a data mining analysis of published CCTs, this study provides valuable information regarding the selection of the most effective acupoints and combinations for clinical acupuncture practice and experimental study aimed at the prevention and treatment of asthma.

Structure and function of dnaQ and mutD mutators of Escherichia coli.

Abstract:The nucleotide sequences of the recessive dnaQ49 and the dominant mutD5 mutator were determined. The dnaQ49 mutator has a single base substitution in the dnaQ gene, thus causing one amino acid change, 96Val (GTG)----Gly (GGG), in the DnaQ protein (epsilon subunit of DNA polymerase III holoenzyme). The mutD5 mutator possesses two base substitutions in the same gene, resulting in two amino acid changes, 73Leu (TTG)----Trp (TGG) and 164Ala (GCA)----Val (GTA), which were designated the mutD52 and mutD51 mutations, respectively. Construction of chimaeric genes carrying one or two of these mutations revealed: either mutD51 or mutD52 alone causes the dominant mutator phenotype when present in a multi-copy plasmid; mutator phenotype when present in a low-copy plasmid; the dominant mutD51 mutator activity is suppressed by the dnaQ49 mutation when both mutations are present in the same gene. Based on these findings, we devised a model for the action of these mutators.

Abstract:Objective:To summarize and analyze the acupoint rules of gastrointestinal dysfunction and provide the theoretical foundation for selection program of treating gastrointestinal dysfunction with acupuncture and moxibustion.Methods:Retrieve the articles ( from 1994 to 2014) of gastrointestinal dysfunction treated by acu-puncture and moxibustion from China National Knowledge Infrastructure ( CNKI) .The acupoints used in the ar-ticles were analyzed by statistical methods.Results:Altogether 44 articles were included in analysis, and the most frequently used points were Zusanli(ST 36), Shangjuxu(ST 37), Thianshu(ST 25), Sanyinjiao(SP 6), Neiguan(PC 6)and so on.Selected meridians in the stomach meridian, spleen meridian and Ren meridian were given priority to.Xiahe point, He point and Bahui point were the most frequently used specific acupoints.Con-clusion:Treating gastrointestinal dysfunction with acupuncture and moxibustion is safe and effective, and the acupoints are mainly located in stomach meridian, spleen meridian and Ren meridian.
Analysis on Acupoint Selection and Combination for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Treated with Acupuncture Based on Data Mining

Abstract:Objective. The aim of the study was to explore the regularity of acupoints in the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) by means of data mining technology. Methods. Nine databases, including SinoMed, Chongqing VIP (CQVIP), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data, Cochrane Library, PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, and Embase, were comprehensively searched till December 2021. The published clinical literature testing acupuncture in the treatment of ALS was eligible for inclusion. Studies were organized to establish the prescription database. Modular data mining analysis, including acupoint frequency, complex network analysis, association rule analysis, and cluster analysis were used to conduct statistical analysis. Results. Forty-two literature studies on 141 acupoints were included, involving 626 times the total application frequency. The top 5 acupoints in application frequency were Hegu (LI 4, 67%), Zusanli (ST 36, 67%), Quchi (LI 11, 52%), Sanyinjiao (SP 6, 48%), and Yanglingquan (GB 34, 45%). The most involved meridian was the large intestine meridian of hand Yangming (90 times). The generally used acupoints were mainly distributed in the lower limbs. The top 5 combinations in application frequency were Hegu-Quchi (75 times), Quchi-Zusanli (66 times), Zusanli-Sanyinjiao (54 times), Hegu-Sanyinjiao (54 times), and Quchi-Sanyinjiao (49 times). The acupoint combinations with the strongest association were Quchi, Hegu, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, and Shousanli (LI 10). There were 7 acupoint groups according to the cluster analysis. The core prescriptions were Hegu, Zusanli, Quchi, and Jiaji (EX-B 2). Conclusions. Hegu, Zusanli, Quchi, and Jiaji could be used as the main prescriptions in treating ALS. The combination of Quchi, Hegu, Zusanli, and Sanyinjiao should be selected with priority in acupuncture therapy.

Abstract:OBJECTIVES To explore the rules of acupoint selection in the treatment of neurogenic bladder (NB) with acupuncture and moxibustion by using data mining. METHODS The clinical research literatures on acupuncture treatment of NB were collected from PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wanfang Database, VIP Database and China Biology Medicine from retrieved to January 1, 2023. The acupoint prescription database was established using Excel 2019. SPSS Modeler 18.0 and SPSS Statistics 26.0 softwares were used to conduct the frequency, meri-dians, locations, specific acupoints analysis and association rules analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, etc., to explore the characteristics and rules of acupoint selection in acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of NB. RESULTS Totally 313 papers were included, including 110 acupoints with a total frequency of 1 995. The high-frequency acupoints are Zhongji (CV3), Guanyuan (CV4), Sanyinjiao (SP6), etc. The commonly used meridians are the Bladder Meridian of Foot Taiyang and Conception Vessel. The involved acupoints are mostly located in the lumbosacral region and abdomen, and intersection acupoints, mu-front acupoints and back-shu acupoints are the majority in the specific acupoints. The core acupoints group was analyzed, and 17 groups of association rules, 7 factors and 6 effective cluster groups were obtained. CONCLUSIONS Acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of NB follows the therapeutic principles of toni-fying the kidney, invigorating the spleen, and soothing the liver. The core acupoints group is CV3-CV4-SP6.

Abstract:Objective: To analyze the characteristics and rules of acupoint selection for acupuncture treatment of insulin resistance. Methods: Data collections were conducted by searching references on acupuncture treatment of insulin resistance in PubMed, CNKI, VIP data base from 1991 to 2016, and acupuncture prescription data base for acupuncture treatment of insulin resistance was established. Data mining was applied to analyze the characteristics and rules of acupoint selection. Results: A total of 64 papers were recruited, and 73 acupoints were selected in these papers. It was found that the acupoints as Zusanli (ST 36), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Fenglong (ST 40) and Taichong (LR 3) were used with highest frequencies. All acupoints selected distributed in 13 meridians, especially Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian, Foot Taiyin Bladder Meridian, and Conception Vessel with a total frequency of 58.07%. The special acupoints including five-shu points, eight confluent points and back-shu points, accounted for 56.71%. Conclusions: This study excavated the regular acupoint selection and acupoints compatibility for acupuncture treatment in patients with insulin resistance, giving evidence based confirming and direction for acupuncture clinical treatment.
