Abstract:Antagonism between heavy metal and selenium (Se) could significantly affect their biotoxicity, but little is known about the mechanisms underlying such microbial-mediated antagonistic processes as well as the formed products. In this work, we examined the cadmium (Cd)-Se interactions and their fates in Caenorhabditis elegans through in vivo and in vitro analysis and elucidated the machinery of Se-stimulated Cd detoxification. Although the Se introduction induced up to 3-fold higher bioaccumulation of Cd in C. elegans than the Cd-only group, the nematode viability remained at a similar level to the Cd-only group. The relatively lower level of reactive oxygen species in the Se & Cd group confirms a significantly enhanced Cd detoxification by Se. The Cd-Se interaction, mediated by multiple thiols, including glutathione and phytochelatin, resulted in the formation of less toxic cadmium selenide (CdSe)/cadmium sulfide (CdS) nanoparticles. The CdSe/CdS nanoparticles were mainly distributed in the pharynx and intestine of the nematodes, and continuously excreted from the body, which also benefitted the C. elegans survival. Our findings shed new light on the microbial-mediated Cd-Se interactions and may facilitate an improved understanding and control of Cd biotoxicity in complicated coexposure environments.

Abstract:Microbial transformations, especially the reduction and methylation of Se oxyanion, have gained significance in recent years as effective detoxification methods. Ganoderma lucidum is a typical Se enrichment resource that can reduce selenite to elemental Se and volatile Se metabolites under high selenite conditions. However, the detailed biological processes and reduction mechanisms are unclear. In this study, G. lucidum reduced selenite to elemental Se and further aggregated it into Se nanoparticles with a diameter of < 200 nm, simultaneously accompanied by the production of pungent, odorous, and volatile methyl-selenium metabolites. Tandem mass tag-based quantitative proteomic analysis revealed thioredoxin 1, thioredoxin reductase (NADPH), glutathione reductase, 5-methyltetrahydropteroyltriglutamate-homocysteine methyltransferase, and cystathionine gamma - lyase as proteins involved in selenite reduction and methylation. Furthermore, the high expression of proteins associated with cell structures that prompted cell lysis may have facilitated Se release. The upregulation of proteins involved in the defense reactions was also detected, reflecting their roles in the self-defense mechanism. This study provides novel insights into the vital role of G. lucidum in mediating Se transformation in the biogeochemical Se cycle and contributes to the application of fungi in Se bioremediation.

Impact of "chemical cocktails" exposure in shaping mice gut microbiota and the role of selenium supplementation combining metallomics, metabolomics, and metataxonomics

Abstract:Biological systems are exposed to a complex environment in which pollutants can interact through synergistic or antagonistic mechanisms, but limited information is available on the combined effects. To this end, conventional and antibiotic-treated (Abx) mice models were fed regular rodent or selenium (Se) supplemented diets and exposed to a "chemical cocktail" (CC) including metals and pharmaceuticals. Metallomics, metabolomics, and metataxomics were combined to delve into the impact on gut microbiota, plasma selenoproteome, metabolome, and arsenic metabolization. At the molecular level, Se decreased the concentration of the antioxidant glutathione peroxidase in plasma and increased the arsenic methylation rate, possibly favoring its excretion, but not in the Abx and also plasma metabolomes of Abx, and Abx-Se were not differentiated. Moreover, numerous associations were obtained between plasma selenoproteins and gut microbes. Se-supplementation partially antagonizes the gut microbiota alteration caused by Abx, and slightly by CC, but strongly altered profiles were observed in CC-Abx-Se, suggesting synergistic deleterious effects between pollutants, Abx and Se. Moreover, although CC and Abx changed gut microbiota, several common taxa were enriched in CC-Abx and control mice, indicating possible synergistic effects. Our results suggest a potential beneficial impact of supplementation, but mediated by gut microbes being reversed in their absence.

Abstract:Insufficient selenium intake can lead to serious health problems. However, most research on the functional properties of selenium-enriched probiotics has focused on sub-health conditions or disease models, with limited studies involving healthy subjects. Additionally, previous research has primarily explored the direct effects of selenium itself, neglecting its influence on gut microbiota and metabolism. This study aimed to explore whether long-term intake of Pichia kudriavzevii enriched with selenium affected gut microbiota and host metabolism in mice and to identify microbiota and metabolites related to beneficial outcomes. Results demonstrated that selenium-enriched P. kudriavzevii (SeY) exhibited non-toxic properties, did not cause colon or liver damage, enhanced antioxidant capacity, and reduced inflammation in a selenium dose-dependent manner. Additionally, SeY supplementation significantly altered the gut microbiota. High-dose SeY (HSeY) elevated the abundance of beneficial bacteria such as Lactobacillus and suppressed harmful bacteria such as Eubacterium nodatum group, Prevotellaceae _NK3B31_group, and unclassified_f__Lachnospiraceae. Low-dose SeY (LSeY) increased the abundance of Faecalibaculum. The strain without enriched selenium exhibited higher levels of Akkermansia compared to selenium-enriched strains. Both strains, with or without enriched selenium, stimulated the production of short-chain fatty acids. Non-targeted metabolomics analysis revealed that HSeY treatment regulated various metabolic pathways, such as tryptophan metabolism, tyrosine metabolism, and arginine biosynthesis. LSeY treatment modulated tyrosine metabolism, secondary bile acid metabolism, bile secretion, and primary bile acid metabolism. P. kudriavzevii regulated the metabolism of purine, arginine, proline, and tryptophan. Our study highlights the promise of SeY supplementation in regulating host metabolism and the gut microbiota, offering insights into its implications for promoting health.

Abstract:Selenite biotransformation by microorganisms is an effective detoxification and assimilation process. Bacillus subtilis is a probiotic bacterium that can reduce Se(IV) to SeNPs under aerobic conditions. However, current knowledge on the molecular mechanisms of selenite reduction by B. subtilis remains limited. Here, the reduction of Se(IV) by probiotic bacterium Bacillus subtilis 168 was systematically analysed, and the molecular mechanisms of selenium nanoparticle (SeNPs) formation were characterised in detail. B. subtilis 168 reduced 5.0 mM selenite by nearly 40% in 24 h, and the produced SeNPs were spherical and localised intracellularly or extracellularly. FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) spectroscopy suggested the presence of proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates on the surface of the isolated SeNPs. Transcriptome data analysis revealed that the expression of genes associated with the proline metabolism, glutamate metabolism, and sulfite metabolism pathways was significantly up-regulated. Gene mutation and complementation revealed the ability of PutC, GabD, and CysJI to reduce selenite in vivo. In vitro experiments demonstrated that PutC, GabD, and CysJI could catalyse the reduction of Se(IV) under optimal conditions using NADPH as a cofactor. To the best of our knowledge, our study is the first to demonstrate the involvement of PutC and GabD in selenite reduction. Particularly, our findings demonstrated that the reduction of Se(IV) was mediated by multiple pathways both in vivo and in vitro. Our findings thus provide novel insights into the molecular mechanisms of Se(VI) reduction in aerobic bacteria.

Abstract:Selenium (Se) is one of the essential trace elements in the human body, and Se-enriched lactic acid bacteria (LAB) can improve the biological utilization value of inorganic Se. The aim of this study was to isolate Se-enriched LAB and study their effects on antioxidant activity and nitrite degradation. The Se-enriched LAB L.P2, which was nitrite-tolerant and could grow in 30 µg/mL sodium selenite (Na2SeO3) medium, was isolated from the traditional fermented Chinese sauerkraut. L.P2 belonged to Lactobacillus plantarum according to the 16S rDNA analysis. The biomass and lactic acid production of L.P2 reached to a maximum (9.52 log CFU/mL and 16.99 mg/mL) when 2.0 µg/mL Na2SeO3 was supplemented in the medium. Additionally, the nitrite degradation rate reached 85.76% when the initial concentration of Na2SeO3 was 2.0 µg/mL. The Se-enriched LAB enhanced the scavenging capacity of hydroxyl radical and superoxide free radical of L.P2 and improved the lipid peroxidation and ion-chelating abilities. Moreover, the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in Se 4 group (4.0 µg/mL Na2SeO3 was added) reached 48.49 and 50.35 U/mg, respectively. Abstract:In this study, we tested the ability of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria strains to accumulate and biotransform sodium selenite into various selenium species, including selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs). Selenium tolerance and cytotoxicity of selenized strains towards human adenocarcinoma Caco-2 and HT29 cells were determined for all tested strains. Furthermore, the influence of selenium enrichment on the antioxidant activity of selenized strains and hydrophobicity of the bacterial cell surfaces were evaluated. Both hydrophobicity and antioxidant activity increased significantly in the selenized L. paracasei strain and decreased significantly in the selenized L. helveticus strain. The concentrations of 5 and 10 mg/L Na 2 SeO 3 in the growth media were safer for Caco-2 and HT29 cell growth than higher concentrations. At higher concentrations (30, 50, and 100 mg/L), the cell viability was reduced. All the tested strains showed differences in antioxidant potential and hydrophobicity after selenium enrichment. In addition to selenocystine and selenomethionine, the tested bacterial strains produced significant amounts of SeNPs. Our results show that the tested bacterial strains can accumulate and biotransform inorganic selenium, which allows them to become a potential source of selenium.

Abstract:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the inhibitory activity of selenium-enriched probiotics against pathogenic Escherichia coli (E. coli) in vitro and in vivo. Escherichia coli was co-cultured in vitro with each probiotic strain individually, and a mixture of the four strains and its population was counted at various time points. We also collected a cell-free culture supernatant (CFCS) of each probiotic strain and the four-strain mix to examine their antibacterial activity, using the cylinder plate method. Results demonstrated that co-culture with probiotics significantly reduced the number of E. coli. The different sizes of the inhibition zones made by each CFCS proved that E. coli was inhibited by the metabolites of the probiotics. In vivo, Kunming mice were allocated to different groups supplemented with selenium-enriched and other probiotics. After 28 days, the mice were inoculated with pathogenic E. coli so that we could compare mortality rates and inspect other indexes of each treatment. The mortality of the group with selenium-enriched probiotics was the lowest. In addition, the organic antioxidant status improved, immunity was fortified, and the internal environment of the intestinal tract was enhanced with selenium-enriched probiotic supplementation. In conclusion, selenium-enriched probiotics can strongly antagonize pathogenic E. coli in vitro and in vivo.
Evaluation of Selenomethionine Entrapped in Nanoparticles for Oral Supplementation Using In Vitro, Ex Vivo and In Vivo Models

Abstract:Selenium methionine (SeMet) is an essential micronutrient required for normal body function and is associated with additional health benefits. However, oral administration of SeMet can be challenging due to its purported narrow therapeutic index, low oral bioavailability, and high susceptibility to oxidation. To address these issues, SeMet was entrapped in zein-coated nanoparticles made from chitosan using an ionic gelation formulation. The high stability of both the SeMet and selenomethionine nanoparticles (SeMet-NPs) was established using cultured human intestinal and liver epithelial cells, rat liver homogenates, and rat intestinal homogenates and lumen washes. Minimal cytotoxicity to Caco-2 and HepG2 cells was observed for SeMet and SeMet-NPs. Antioxidant properties of SeMet were revealed using a Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) assay, based on the observation of a concentration-dependent reduction in the build-up of peroxides, hydroxides and hydroxyl radicals in Caco-2 cells exposed to SeMet (6.25–100 μM). The basal apparent permeability coefficient (Papp) of SeMet across isolated rat jejunal mucosae mounted in Ussing chambers was low, but the Papp was increased when presented in NP. SeMet had minimal effects on the electrogenic ion secretion of rat jejunal and colonic mucosae in Ussing chambers. Intra-jejunal injections of SeMet-NPs to rats yielded increased plasma levels of SeMet after 3 h for the SeMet-NPs compared to free SeMet. Overall, there is potential to further develop SeMet-NPs for oral supplementation due to the increased intestinal permeability, versus free SeMet, and the low potential for toxicity.

Abstract:Selenium is an essential microelement required for human health. The biotransformation of selenium nanoparticles has attracted increasing attention in recent years. However, little of the literature has investigated the comprehensive evaluation of the strains for practical application and the effect on the functional properties in the existence of Se. The present study showed the selenite reduction strain Bacillus subtilis T5 (up to 200 mM), which could produce high yields of selenium polysaccharides and selenium nanoparticles in an economical and feasible manner. Biosynthesized selenium nanoparticles by B. subtilis T5 were characterized systematically using UV-vis spectroscopy, FTIR, Zeta Potential, DLS, and SEM techniques. The biosynthesized SeNPs exhibited high stability with small particle sizes. B. subtilis T5 also possessed a tolerance to acidic pH and bile salts, high aggregation, negative hemolytic, and superior antioxidant activity, which showed excellent probiotic potential and can be recommended as a potential candidate for the selenium biopharmaceuticals industry. Remarkably, B. subtilis T5 showed that the activity of α-amylase was enhanced with selenite treatment to 8.12 U/mL, 2.72-fold more than the control. The genus Bacillus was first reported to produce both selenium polysaccharides with extremely high Se-content (2.302 g/kg) and significantly enhance the activity to promote α-amylase with selenium treatment. Overall, B. subtilis T5 showed potential as a bio-factory for the biosynthesized SeNPs and organ selenium (selenium polysaccharide), providing an appealing perspective for the biopharmaceutical industry.

Abstract:A patented strain of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens C-1 in our laboratory could produce functional sodium selenite (Na 2 SeO 3 ) under optimized fermentation conditions. With the strong stress resistance and abundant secondary metabolites, C-1 showed potential to be developed as selenium-enriched postbiotics. C-1 has the ability to synthesize SeNPs when incubated with 100 μg/ml Na 2 SeO 3 for 30 h at 30 °C aerobically with 10% seeds-culture. The transformation rate from Na 2 SeO 3 into SeNPs reached to 55.51%. After selenium enrichment, there were no significant morphology changes in C-1 cells but obvious SeNPs accumulated inside of cells, observed by scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope, verified by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. SeNPs had antioxidant activity in radical scavenge of superoxide (O 2 − ), Hydroxyl radical (OH − ) and 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl-hydrazine (DPPH), where scavenging ability of OH − is the highest. Selenium-enriched C-1 had obvious anti-inflammatory effect in protecting integrity of Caco-2 cell membrane destroyed by S. typhimurium ; it could preventing inflammatory damage in Caco-2 stressed by 200 μM H 2 O 2 for 4 h, with significantly reduced expression of IL-8 (1.687 vs. 3.487, P = 0.01), IL-1β (1.031 vs. 5.000, P < 0.001), TNF-α (2.677 vs. 9.331, P < 0.001), increased Claudin-1 (0.971 vs. 0.611, P < 0.001) and Occludin (0.750 vs. 0.307, P < 0.001). Transcriptome data analysis showed that there were 381 differential genes in the vegetative growth stage and 1674 differential genes in the sporulation stage of C-1 with and without selenium-enrichment. A total of 22 ABC transporter protein-related genes at vegetative stage and 70 ABC transporter protein-related genes at sporulation stage were founded. Genes encoding MsrA, thiol, glutathione and thioredoxin reduction were significantly up-regulated; genes related to ATP synthase such as atpA and atpD genes showed down-regulated during vegetative stage; the flagellar-related genes ( flgG , fliM , fliL , and fliJ ) showed down-regulated during sporulation stage. The motility, chemotaxis and colonization ability were weakened along with synthesized SeNPs accumulated intracellular at sporulation stage. B. amyloliquefaciens C-1 could convert extracellular selenite into intracellular SeNPs through the oxidation–reduction pathway, with strong selenium-enriched metabolism. The SeNPs and selenium-enriched cells had potential to be developed as nano-selenium biomaterials and selenium-enriched postbiotics.

Abstract:Nanosafety evaluation is necessary not only for nanomaterials research and development but also as a cornerstone for legal regulation. In this study, we proposed a non-invasive protocol for nanosafety evaluation through feces using metagenomics and metabolomics together with metallomics. Male SD rats were orally exposed to equal amounts of Se (Se0NPs, 3.14 or Na2SeO3, 6.28 μg/kg bw) and were sacrificed after 24 h. 16S rRNA analysis and LC–MS were used to study the impact of different forms of Se on intestinal microbiota and metabolites in fecal samples. ICP-MS and synchrotron radiation X-ray fluorescence (SR-XRF) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) were used to study the concentration and transformation of Se in gastrointestinal track and feces. It was found that Se0NPs brought less alternation to the composition of intestinal microbiota and metabolites related to inflammation, immunity and gut-brain axis related responses than Na2SeO3 did. Besides, the absorbed Se0NPs could be more efficiently converted to organic Se which explained the comparable bioavailability to Na2SeO3. In all, the proposed protocol combined with metagenomics, metabolomics and metallomics in this study can be used for nanosafety evaluation in a non-invasive manner and this may also be used for the screening of the nanosafety of other nanomaterials.

Abstract:Abstract Selenium (Se) is an essential micronutrient that promotes body health. Endemic Se deficiency is a major nutritional challenge worldwide. The low toxicity, high bioavailability, and unique properties of biogenic Se nanoparticles (SeNPs) allow them to be used as a therapeutic drug and Se nutritional supplement. This study was conducted to investigate the regulatory effects of dietary SeNPs supplementation on the oxidative stress-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction and its association with mitochondrial function and gut microbiota in mice. The effects of dietary SeNPs on intestinal barrier function and antioxidant capacity and its correlation with gut microbiota were further evaluated by a fecal microbiota transplantation experiment. The results showed that Se deficiency caused a redox imbalance, increased the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, altered the composition of the gut microbiota, and impaired mitochondrial structure and function, and intestinal barrier injury. Exogenous supplementation with biogenic SeNPs effectively alleviated diquat-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction by enhancing the antioxidant capacity, inhibiting the overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS), preventing the impairment of mitochondrial structure and function, regulating the immune response, maintaining intestinal microbiota homeostasis by regulating nuclear factor (erythroid-derived-2)-like 2 (Nrf2)-mediated NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) signaling pathway. In addition, Se deficiency resulted in a gut microbiota phenotype that is more susceptible to diquat-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction. Supranutritional SeNPs intake can optimize the gut microbiota to protect against intestinal dysfunctions. This study demonstrates that dietary supplementation of SeNPs can prevent oxidative stress-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction through its regulation of mitochondria and gut microbiota.

Aerobic biogenesis of selenium nanoparticles by Enterobacter cloacae Z0206 as a consequence of fumarate reductase mediated selenite reduction

Abstract:In the present study, we examined the ability of Enterobacter cloacae Z0206 to reduce toxic sodium selenite and mechanism of this process. E. cloacae Z0206 was found to completely reduce up to 10 mM selenite to elemental selenium (Se°) and form selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) under aerobic conditions. The selenite reducing effector of E. cloacae Z0206 cell was to be a membrane-localized enzyme. iTRAQ proteomic analysis revealed that selenite induced a significant increase in the expression of fumarate reductase. Furthermore, the addition of fumarate to the broth and knockout of fumarate reductase ( frd ) both significantly decreased the selenite reduction rate, which revealed a previously unrecognized role of E. cloacae Z0206 fumarate reductase in selenite reduction. In contrast, glutathione-mediated Painter-type reactions were not the main pathway of selenite reducing. In conclusion, E. cloacae Z0206 effectively reduced selenite to Se° using fumarate reductase and formed SeNPs; this capability may be employed to develop a bioreactor for treating Se pollution and for the biosynthesis of SeNPs in the future.

Abstract:This study investigated the effect of different dietary selenium (Se) sources on the growth performance, antioxidant capacity, gut microbiota, and molecular responses of the Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei. Four Se sources (sodium selenite, L-selenomethionine, selenium yeast, or Se nanoparticles) were added to purified diets to 0.4 mg Se/kg diet for shrimp ( 1.60 ± 0.14 g ). Each treatment was randomly assigned to 3 replicated tanks and 30 shrimp in each tank (500 L). After 8 weeks of breeding, L-selenomethionine and selenium yeast significantly increased weight gain compared with sodium selenite treatment, while sodium selenite significantly decreased the shrimp hepatosomatic index compared with the other groups. The L-selenomethionine significantly increased the superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activities in the hepatopancreas compared with the shrimp fed sodium selenite and decreased catalase activity and malondialdehyde content compared with other groups. The composition and β-diversity of gut microbiota were markedly changed in each group. The abundances of Rubrobacter and Rubritalea, Winogradskyella and Motilimonas, and Photobacterium in the gut microbiota were specially altered by L-selenomethionine, Se yeast, and Se nanoparticles, respectively. The sodium selenite group showed lower complexity of gut interspecies interactions. RNA-seq analysis showed that “arachidonic acid metabolism”-related genes were significantly enriched in the L-selenomethionine and Se yeast groups; “peroxisome” and “drug metabolism–other enzymes”-related genes were enriched in the Se nanoparticle group. Vibrio, Motilimonas, and Photobacterium were associated with amino acid and lipid metabolism. Pseudoalteromonas, Silicimonas, Roseovarius, and Halomonas inhibited the expression of glutathione peroxidase genes. These results suggested that organic Se, especially selenomethionine, is an effective feed supplement to promote growth and antioxidant capacity, maintain the health of gut microbiota, and promote the utilization of fatty acid and glutathione peroxidase genes in shrimp fed a 0.4 mg Se/kg diet.

Abstract:Selenium (Se) is a crucial micronutrient for human health. Plants are the primary source of Se for humans. Selenium in the soil serves as the primary source of Se for plants. The soil contains high total Se content in large areas in Guangxi, China. However, the available Se is low, hindering Se uptake by plants. Microorganisms play a pivotal role in the activation of Se in the soil, thereby enhancing its uptake by plants. In this study, selenobacteria were isolated from Se-rich soils in Guangxi. Then two selenobacteria strains, YLB1-6 and YLB2-1, representing the highest (30,000 μg/mL) and lowest (10,000 μg/mL) Se tolerance levels among the Se-tolerant bacteria, were selected for subsequent analysis. Although the two selenobacteria exhibited distinct effects, they can significantly transform Se species, resulting in a decrease in the soil residual Se (RES-Se) content while concurrently increasing the available Se (AVA-Se) content. Selenobacteria also enhance the transformation of Se valencies, with a significant increase observed in soluble Se 6+ (SOL-Se 6+ ). Additionally, selenobacteria can elevate the pH of acidic soil. Selenobacteria also promote the uptake of Se into plants. After treatment with YLB1-6 and YLB2-1, the Se content in the aboveground part of Chinese flowering cabbage increased by 1.96 times and 1.77 times, respectively, while the Se accumulation in the aboveground part of the plant significantly increased by 104.36% and 81.69%, respectively, compared to the control. Further whole-genome sequencing revealed the genetic difference between the two selenobacteria. Additionally, 46 and 38 candidate genes related to selenium utilization were identified from YLB1-6 and YLB2-1, respectively. This work accelerates our understanding of the potential molecular mechanism of Se biofortification by selenobacteria. It also provides microorganisms and gene targets for improving crop varieties or microorganisms to exploit the rich Se source in soil.

Abstract:The microbial reduction of selenite to elemental selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) is thought to be an effective detoxification process of selenite for many bacteria. In this study, Metasolibacillus sp. ES129 and Oceanobacillus sp. ES111 with high selenite reduction efficiency or tolerance were selected for systematic and comparative studies on their performance in selenite removal and valuable SeNPs recovery. The kinetic monitoring of selenite reduction showed that the highest transformation efficiency of selenite to SeNPs was achieved at a concentration of 4.24 mM for ES129 and 4.88 mM for ES111. Ultramicroscopic analysis suggested that the SeNPs produced by ES111 and ES129 had been formed in cytoplasm and subsequently released to extracellular space through cell lysis process. Furthermore, the transcriptome analysis indicated that the expression of genes involved in bacillithiol biosynthesis, selenocompound metabolism and proline metabolism were significantly up-regulated during selenite reduction, suggesting that the transformation of selenite to Se0 may involve multiple pathways. Besides, the up-regulation of genes associated with nucleotide excision repair and antioxidation-related enzymes may enhance the tolerance of bacteria to selenite. Generally, the exploration of selenite reduction and tolerance mechanisms of the highly selenite-tolerant bacteria is of great significance for the effective utilization of microorganisms for environmental remediation.
