Abstract:Biogenic metallic nanoparticles (NPs) have garnered significant attention in recent years due to their unique properties and various applications in different fields. NPs, including gold, silver, zinc oxide, copper, titanium, and magnesium oxide NPs, have attracted considerable interest. Green synthesis approaches, utilizing natural products, offer advantages such as sustainability and environmental friendliness. The theranostics applications of these NPs hold immense significance in the fields of medicine and diagnostics. The review explores intricate cellular uptake pathways, internalization dynamics, reactive oxygen species generation, and ensuing inflammatory responses, shedding light on the intricate mechanisms governing their behaviour at a molecular level. Intriguingly, biogenic metallic NPs exhibit a wide array of applications in medicine, including but not limited to anti-inflammatory, anticancer, anti-diabetic, anti-plasmodial, antiviral properties and radical scavenging efficacy. Their potential in personalized medicine stands out, with a focus on tailoring treatments to individual patients based on these NPs' unique attributes and targeted delivery capabilities. The article culminates in emphasizing the role of biogenic metallic NPs in shaping the landscape of personalized medicine. Abstract:In recent times, metal oxide nanoparticles (NPs) have been regarded as having important commercial utility. However, the potential toxicity of these nanomaterials has also been a crucial research concern. In this regard, an important solution for ensuring lower toxicity levels and thereby facilitating an unhindered application in human consumer products is the green synthesis of these particles. Although a naïve approach, the biological synthesis of metal oxide NPs using microorganisms and plant extracts opens up immense prospects for the production of biocompatible and cost-effective particles with potential applications in the healthcare sector. An important area that calls for attention is cancer therapy and the intervention of nanotechnology to improve existing therapeutic practices. Metal oxide NPs have been identified as therapeutic agents with an extended half-life and therapeutic index and have also been reported to have lesser immunogenic properties. Currently, biosynthesized metal oxide NPs are the subject of considerable research and analysis for the early detection and treatment of tumors, but their performance in clinical experiments is yet to be determined. The present review provides a comprehensive account of recent research on the biosynthesis of metal oxide NPs, including mechanistic insights into biological production machinery, the latest reports on biogenesis, the properties of biosynthesized NPs, and directions for further improvement. In particular, scientific reports on the properties and applications of nanoparticles of the oxides of titanium, cerium, selenium, zinc, iron, and copper have been highlighted. This review discusses the significance of the green synthesis of metal oxide nanoparticles, with respect to therapeutically based pharmaceutical applications as well as energy and environmental applications, using various novel approaches including one-minute sonochemical synthesis that are capable of responding to various stimuli such as radiation, heat, and pH. Abstract:Abstract Nanotechnology has permeated all areas of sciences as one of the most propitious technology with the deployment of nanoparticles in environmental remediation and biomedical fields; their synthesis under greener conditions has been bourgeoned using microorganisms, plants, etc. to decrease the use of toxic chemicals. Synthesis of nanoparticles by exploiting microorganisms has opened up a new prospect at the interface of nanotechnology, chemistry, and biology enabling access via a biocompatible, safe, sustainable, eco-friendly, and reliable route; microorganisms offer crystal growth, stabilization, and prevention of aggregation thus performing a dual role of reducing and capping agent because of the presence of biomolecules such as enzymes, peptides, poly (amino acids), polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), and polysaccharides. Abstract:A large number of metallic nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized by using different plant extracts and microbes including bacteria, fungi viruses and microalgae. Some of these metallic nanoparticles showed strong antimicrobial activities against phytopathogens. Here, we summarized these green-synthesized nanoparticles from plants and microbes and their applications in the control of plant pathogens. We also discussed the potential deleterious effects of the metallic nanoparticles on plants and beneficial microbial communities associated with plants. Overall, this review calls for attention regarding the use of green-synthesized metallic nanoparticles in controlling plant diseases and clarification of the risks to plants, plant-associated microbial communities, and environments before using them in agriculture.

Abstract:Modern nanotechnology, together with the help of pharmaceutical and biomedical science, deals with improving new drug delivery systems in order to cure many diseases including cancer. Thus, nanotechnology has generated a potential influence in several disciplines of medicine including cardiology, endocrinology, immunology, oncology, pulmonology, and ophthalmology. Till date, very little work has been done regarding the positive or beneficial influences of nanomaterials on plant species. However, nanotechnology has the potential for creating new materials to develop new methods or tools for incorporation of fictional nanoparticles into the plants to improve their physiological, morphological, or other related characters.In natural environment, plants and microorganisms like bacteria, algae, yeasts, and fungi have the ability to produce nanosized materials as part of their metabolism. Synthesis of nanoparticles by microorganisms has been arisen as prominent research area in nanoscience day by day. In general, microorganisms produce inorganic nanoparticles in intracellular and/or extracellular way. Microbial production of metallic nanoparticles, especially silver, is achieved by reduction mechanisms of metal ions, while they generate silver nanoparticles as part of their metabolism due to their defense mechanism. Bio-produced silver nanoparticles are also applied for enhanced antimicrobial properties in combination with commercial antibiotics against pathogenic microorganisms. Their antimicrobial and cytotoxic effects are evaluated within this chapter.

Abstract:Nanomaterial synthesis is a growing study area because of its extensive range of uses. Nanoparticles' high surface-to-volume ratio and rapid interaction with various particles make them appealing for diverse applications. Traditional physical and chemical methods for creating metal nanoparticles are becoming outdated because they involve complex manufacturing processes, high energy consumption, and the formation of harmful by-products that pose major dangers to human health and the environment. Therefore, there is an increasing need to find alternative, cost-effective, dependable, biocompatible, and environmentally acceptable ways of producing nanoparticles. The process of synthesizing nanoparticles using microbes has become highly intriguing because of their ability to create nanoparticles of varying sizes, shapes, and compositions, each with unique physicochemical properties. Microbes are commonly used in nanoparticle production because they are easy to work with, can use low-cost materials, such as agricultural waste, are cheap to scale up, and can adsorb and reduce metal ions into nanoparticles through metabolic activities. Biogenic synthesis of nanoparticles provides a clean, nontoxic, ecologically friendly, and sustainable method using renewable ingredients for reducing metals and stabilizing nanoparticles. Nanomaterials produced by bacteria can serve as an effective pollution control method due to their many functional groups that can effectively target contaminants for efficient bioremediation, aiding in environmental cleanup. At the end of the paper, we will discuss the obstacles that hinder the use of biosynthesized nanoparticles and microbial-based nanoparticles. Abstract:The nanomaterial industry generates gigantic quantities of metal-based nanomaterials for various technological and biomedical applications; however, concomitantly, it places a massive burden on the environment by utilizing toxic chemicals for the production process and leaving hazardous waste materials behind. Moreover, the employed, often unpleasant chemicals can affect the biocompatibility of the generated particles and severely restrict their application possibilities. On these grounds, green synthetic approaches have emerged, offering eco-friendly, sustainable, nature-derived alternative production methods, thus attenuating the ecological footprint of the nanomaterial industry. In the last decade, a plethora of biological materials has been tested to probe their suitability for nanomaterial synthesis. Although most of these approaches were successful, a large body of evidence indicates that the green material or entity used for the production would substantially define the physical and chemical properties and as a consequence, the biological activities of the obtained nanomaterials. The present review provides a comprehensive collection of the most recent green methodologies, surveys the major nanoparticle characterization techniques and screens the effects triggered by the obtained nanomaterials in various living systems to give an impression on the biomedical potential of green synthesized silver and gold nanoparticles.

Abstract:Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), one of the most serious worldwide public health concerns, poses a serious risk to the establishment of pathogenic organisms that are multidrug-resistant. In addition, the uncontrolled and unregulated use of antibiotics has resulted in the rapid development of antibiotic resistance in bacterial strains. However, this issue can be resolved through the development of appropriate nanoparticle-based antimicrobial therapies to treat infectious diseases. Several metal/metal oxide nanoparticles showed strong antibacterial activity against dangerous pathogens by interacting with DNA, enzymes, ribosomes, and lysosomes, which can affect gene expression, oxidative stress, and cell membrane permeability. Currently, the biosynthesis of metallic nanoparticles using various plant extracts has attracted a great deal of attention towards antimicriobial nanotechnology. The article discusses the recent development of plant extract-mediated biosynthesized metal/metal oxide (Ag, Au, Pt, ZnO, CuO, TiO 2 , Fe 2 O 3 , CeO 2 , Y 2 O 3 ) nanoparticles and their impacts, particularly for antibacterial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. Abstract:Advances in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology to modulate materials at nanoscale level has continued to have great impact on different disciplines of science and engineering as well as agriculture and medical fields. The surge in the utilization of benign and non-toxic biomolecules to engineer enhanced biocompatible nanomaterials has contributed to a large extent to the applications of nanomaterials in healthcare; an emerging sub-discipline termed nanomedicine. Among the several nanomaterials that have been produced, metallic nanoparticles occupy prime position owing to their optical, catalytic and biological characteristics. Abstract:The development of smart green chemistry methods for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles (MNPs) has gained significant attention from researchers in the last few years. Due to the widespread usage of nanoscale metal ions in various industries such as health care, engineering, environmental protection, agriculture, etc., the synthesis of these materials is a timely subject and requirement. Currently, most of the nanoscale metals are produced chemically, which has unforeseen consequences such as energy and pollution, as well as health hazards. Numerous studies have been conducted to identify an eco-friendly method for producing the nanoparticles. Metal nanoparticle production using living things is one of the recent approaches that is most frequently discussed. The term “green synthesis of nanoparticles” describes the production of various metal nanoparticles using biologically active substances such as plant parts, microbes, and a variety of waste products like vegetable scraps, peels of fruits wastes, eggshell, farm wastes, and so on. Among these choices, plants seem to be the most ideal source for the potential creation of vast numbers of nanoparticles. Biomolecules present in plant extracts can be used to reduce metal ions into nanoparticles in a single-step green synthesis process, which is rapid, and are more stable. These newly synthesized nanoparticles are usually less expensive, easily available, produce less pollution, and enhance the safety of the environment and human. In the field of agriculture, the synthesis of nano-chemicals has the potential to improve fertilizers (slow-release nano fertilizers), pesticides (nano-pesticides), and nano plant growth regulators. Abstract:To date, various reports have shown that metallic gold bhasma at the nanoscale form was used as medicine as early as 2500 B.C. in India, China, and Egypt. Owing to their unique physicochemical, biological, and electronic properties, they have broad utilities in energy, environment, agriculture and more recently, the biomedical field. The biomedical domain has been used in drug delivery, imaging, diagnostics, therapeutics, and biosensing applications. In this review, we will discuss and highlight the increasing control over metal and metal oxide nanoparticle structures as smart nanomaterials utilized in the biomedical domain to advance the role of biosynthesized nanoparticles for improving human health through wide applications in the targeted drug delivery, controlled release drug delivery, wound dressing, tissue scaffolding, and medical implants. Among many techniques that are employed toward the production of nanoparticles, synthesis using green technologies is the simplest and environment friendly. Nanoparticles produced from plant extracts have become a very popular subject of study in recent decades due to their diverse advantages such as low-cost synthesis, product stability, and ecofriendly protocols. These merits have prompted the development of nanoparticles from a variety of sources, including bacteria, fungi, algae, proteins, enzymes, etc., allowing for large-scale production with minimal contamination. However, nanoparticles obtained from plant extracts and phytochemicals exhibit greater reduction and stabilization and hence have proven the diversity of properties, like catalyst/photocatalyst, magnetic, antibacterial, cytotoxicity, circulating tumor deoxy ribo nucleic acid (CT-DNA) binding, gas sensing, etc. In the current scenario, nanoparticles can also play a critical role in cleaning wastewater and making it viable for a variety of operations. Nano-sized photocatalysts have a great scope toward the removal of large pollutants like organic dyes, heavy metals, and pesticides in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner from industrial effluents. Thus, in this review article, we discuss the synthesis of several metal nanoparticles using diverse plant extracts, as well as their characterization via techniques like UV-vis (ultraviolet-visible), XRD (X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscopy), TEM (transmission electron microscopy), FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), etc., and catalytic activity on various hazardous systems.

Abstract:The newly developed oxygenator "D702" is a compact hollow fiber membrane oxygenator with a priming volume of 170 ml. The maximum flow allowance is 4 liters per/minute. We used this oxygenator in 16 patients (11 infants and children, and 5 adults) undergoing various open heart surgery, and function of this oxygenator was studied. Pulsatile cardiopulmonary bypass was performed in 8 patients and nonpulsatile constant flow perfusion was employed in the remaining 8 patients. Our clinical experience showed excellent maintenance of PaO2 and PaCO2 during both pulsatile and constant flow bypasses. A low pressure drop was encountered across the membrane oxygenator, and therefore, this oxygenator is applicable for pulsatile cardiopulmonary bypass. The D702 is a very useful and applicable for a wide range of patients from infants to adults with a small body structure.

Abstract:From a historical perspective, coinage metals (CMNMs) are most renowned for their monetary, ornamental, and metallurgical merits; nevertheless, as nanotechnology's potential has only just come to light, their metal nanostructures and uses may be viewed as products of modern science. Notable characteristics of CMNMs include visual, electrical, chemical, and catalytic qualities that depend on shape and size. Due diligence on the creation and synthesis of CMNMs and their possible uses has been greatly promoted by these characteristics. This review focuses on solution-based methods and provides an overview of the latest developments in CMNMs and their bimetallic nanostructures. It discusses a range of synthetic techniques, including conventional procedures and more modern approaches used to enhance functionality by successfully manipulating the CMNMs nanostructure's size, shape, and composition. To help with the design of new nanostructures with improved capabilities in the future, this study offers a brief assessment of the difficulties and potential future directions of these intriguing metal nanostructures. This review focuses on mechanisms and factors influencing the synthesis process, green synthesis, and sustainable synthesis methods. It also discusses the wide range of biological domains in which CMNMs are applied, including antibacterial, antifungal, and anticancer. Researchers will therefore find the appropriateness of both synthesizing and using CMNMS keeping in mind the different levels of environmental effects.
