Abstract:Difficulties associated with in vitro manipulation and culture of the early chicken embryo have restricted generation of transgenic chickens to approaches that use replication-competent retroviruses. The need to produce transgenic chickens in the absence of replicating virus prompted development of a new method of gene transfer into the chicken. Microinjection of the replication-defective reticuloendotheliosis virus (REV) vector ME111 beneath unincubated chicken embryo blastoderms results in infection of germline stem cells. This vector contains genetic information exogenous to the chicken genome, including both the herpes simplex virus type 1 thymidine kinase gene and the Tn5 neomycin phosphotransferase gene. About 8 percent of male birds hatched from injected embryos contained vector DNA in their semen. All four positive males tested passed vector sequences onto their progeny. Analysis of G1 offspring showed that gonads of G0 male birds were mosaic with respect to insertion of vector provirus. Thus, primordial germ cells present in the unincubated chicken embryo blastoderm are susceptible to infection by defective REV vectors.
Mpox knowledge and vaccination hesitancy among healthcare workers in Beijing, China: A cross-sectional survey

Abstract:Background: Mpox, one of the most serious threats to global health, is now being seen in small but rising numbers in Beijing, China. Our study aimed to investigate healthcare workers' (HCWs) knowledge of Mpox and to explore reasons associated with their hesitancy to vaccinate against Mpox in Beijing, China. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among HCWs in Beijing from July 24 to August 2, 2023, through an online questionnaire. Participants answered questions about sociodemographic characteristics, Mpox information sources, Mpox knowledge, perception of vaccines, and attitudes toward Mpox vaccination. We used Chi-squared test to compare difference in Mpox vaccination hesitancy between different groups. Multivariable logistic regression models were applied to analyze correlates of vaccination hesitancy among HCWs. Results: A total of 2331 HCWs completed the questionnaire, with an effective response rate of 92.45 % (2155/2331). Most of the HCWs in this study worked at tertiary hospitals (89.65 %), with a mean age of 36.69 ± 9.08 years. Among the 2155 participants, 52.99 % had over ten years of working experience, and 16.66 % were from high-risk departments relevant to Mpox treatment. Approximately 84.41 % knew about Mpox before this study, 80.79 % exhibited a high level of knowledge about Mpox, whereas 42.37 % were hesitant to be vaccinated against Mpox. Moreover, the hesitancy rate of HCWs in high-risk departments (47.91 %) was higher than in lower-risk departments (41.26 %). Higher educational level (aOR = 1.75, 95 %CI: 1.17-2.62), longer working years (1.71, 1.32-2.22), working at high-risk departments (1.34, 1.05-1.71), and lower level of knowledge about Mpox (1.78, 1.13-2.85) appeared as the most significant determinants of Mpox vaccination hesitancy among HCWs who knew about Mpox. For the HCWs who did not know about Mpox, longer working years (1.96, 1.02-3.78) were significant factors associated with their hesitancy. The predominant reason for hesitancy toward Mpox vaccination among HCWs encompassed apprehensions about vaccine side effects. Conclusion: HCWs had good knowledge of Mpox, whereas their Mpox vaccination hesitancy was also relatively high in Beijing, China. Increasing HCWs' vaccination confidence and knowledge level about Mpox, especially for those working in high-risk departments, may be an essential way of reducing their hesitancy.

Abstract:Background: Vaccination is an important method to address the monkeypox epidemic. We aimed to analyze the knowledge of healthcare workers (HCWs) about human monkeypox and their attitudes toward vaccination.MethodsWe searched PubMed, Embase and Web of Science for articles and performed a meta-analysis using Stata 14.0 with a random-effects model. This study was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. Results: A total of 34 studies with 43,226 HCWs were included in this meta-analysis. The results showed that 54 % (95 % CI: 0.39-0.69) of the HCWs were willing to be vaccinated against monkeypox, and only 40 % (95 % CI: 0.29-0.50) of the HCWs had good knowledge of monkeypox. By analyzing the vaccination history of HCWs, we found that history of smallpox vaccination did not significantly affect the willingness of HCWs to receive another vaccination (OR = 0.53, 95 % CI: 0.23-1.26), whereas HCWs who had been vaccinated with the influenza vaccine (OR = 2.80, 95 % CI: 1.29-6.11) or COVID-19 vaccine (OR = 3.10, 95 % CI: 2.00-4.81) showed greater willingness to receive the monkeypox vaccine. In terms of income, low-income HCWs were less willing to be vaccinated against monkeypox (OR = 0.69, 95 % CI: 0.54-0.89), whereas middle-income HCWs were more willing (OR = 1.45, 95 % CI: 1.04-2.02). Notably, although HCWs with education related to monkeypox had better knowledge of monkeypox than HCWs without education related to monkeypox, the difference was not statistically significant (OR = 1.83, 95 % CI: 0.80-4.18). Conclusions: Publicity and education on monkeypox should be strengthened so that more people, especially HCWs, can have a good understanding of monkeypox and be willing to be vaccinated.
Perceptions and worries about monkeypox, and attitudes towards monkeypox vaccination among medical workers in China: A cross-sectional survey

Abstract:Background: The World Health Organization (WHO) declared monkeypox a "public health emergency of international concern" on 23 June 2022. However, there is a lack of data on monkeypox perceptions among medical workers. The purposes of this study were to evaluate perceptions, worries about monkeypox, attitudes towards monkeypox vaccination and their correlates among medical workers in China. Methods: Data were collected from medical practitioners using an online survey questionnaire between September 1 and September 30, 2022 in China. All the subjects completed an online questionnaire including general characteristics, perceptions/knowledge/worries about monkeypox, and attitudes towards monkeypox vaccination. Logistic regression was employed to examine the correlates of perceptions, worries about monkeypox, and attitudes toward monkeypox vaccination. Results: In total, this study sample included 639 medical workers. The mean age was 37.9 ± 9.4 years old. Approximately 71.8% of individuals reported perceptions of monkeypox, 56.7% worried about monkeypox, and 64.9% supported the promotion of monkeypox vaccination. Medical workers who were older than 50 years (aOR 3.73, 95%CI 1.01-13.85), worked in the Infectious Diseases/Dermatology/Venereal Diseases departments (3.09, 1.61-5.91), and provided correct answer to monkeypox transmission route (10.19, 5.42-19.17) were more likely to know about monkeypox/monkeypox virus before investigation. 30.7% reported that they were more worried about monkeypox than the coronavirus (COVID-19). Participants reported that the key population most in need of monkeypox vaccination were health practitioners (78.2%) and people with immunodeficiency (74.3%), followed by children (65.4%) and older adults (63.2%). Conclusion: Awareness of monkeypox was high and attitude towards the promotion of monkeypox vaccination was positive among medical staff in China. Further targeted dissemination of monkeypox common knowledge among health care providers might improve their precaution measures and improve the promotion of monkeypox vaccination among key populations.

Abstract:Background: The public's attitude towards Mpox vaccination is a critical factor in the success of immunisation programmes. Understanding the factors contributing to vaccine acceptance or hesitancy is critical for developing effective health communication strategies. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to bring together evidence from observational studies on attitudes towards Mpox vaccination, including willingness and rejection. Methods: From this review's inception until June 2023, a comprehensive search was conducted across four major electronic databases: PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and EBSCO. The inclusion criteria included studies investigating public attitudes towards Mpox vaccination, as defined by acceptance and willingness to be vaccinated versus rejection and unwillingness. Results: Thirty studies met the inclusion criteria among the screened literature. An analysis of 27 studies involving 81,792 participants revealed that 45,926 (56.14%) were willing to receive the Mpox vaccination. In contrast, ten studies involving 7448 participants revealed that 2156 people (28.94%) were unwilling to receive the Mpox vaccination. Females were less willing to receive the vaccine than males, with an odds ratio (OR) of 0.61 (95% CI, 0.43-0.86). Furthermore, homosexuals were found to be more willing than heterosexuals, with an OR of 1.44 (95% CI, 1.14-1.80). Conclusion: Vaccination is emerging as a critical strategy for preventing Mpox infection and fostering herd immunity against potential outbreaks. Improving public awareness and acceptance of vaccination is critical to avoiding a situation similar to the COVID-19 pandemic. Targeted educational and outreach programmes could explain the benefits of vaccination, bridging the information gap and encouraging a proactive public health approach to emerging infectious diseases.

Abstract:Background: Medical students hold significant importance, as they represent the future of healthcare provision. This study aimed to explore psychological antecedents towards the monkeypox (mpox) vaccines among postgraduate and undergraduate medical students across countries. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among medical students aged 18 years old and above in 7 countries; Egypt, Romania, Malaysia, and Yemen, Iraq, India, and Nigeria. We used social media platforms between September 27 and November 4, 2022. An anonymous online survey using the 5C scale was conducted using snowball and convenience Sampling methods to assess the 5 psychological antecedents of vaccination (i.e., confidence, constraints, complacency, and calculation, as well as collective responsibility). Results: A total of 2780 participants were recruited. Participants' median age was 22 years and 52.1% of them were males. The 5C psychological antecedents of vaccination were as follows: 55% were confident about vaccination, 10% were complacent, 12% experienced constraints, and 41% calculated the risk and benefit. Lastly, 32% were willing to be vaccinated for the prevention of infection transmission to others. The Country was a significant predictor of confidence, complacency, having constraints, and calculation domains (P < 0.001). Having any idea about the mpox vaccine was linked to 1.6 times higher odds of being more confident [OR = 1.58 (95% CI, 1.26–1.98), P < 0.001] Additionally, living in a rural area significantly increased complacency [OR = 1.42 (95% CI, 1.05–1.95), P = 0.024] as well as having anyone die from mpox [OR = 3.3 (95% CI, 1.64–6.68), P < 0.001]. Education level was associated with increased calculation [OR = 2.74 (95% CI, 1.62–4.64), P < 0.001]. Moreover, being single and having no chronic diseases significantly increased the calculation domain [OR = 1.40 (95% CI, 1.06–1.98), P = 0.02] and [OR = 1.54 (95% CI, 1.10–2.16), P = 0.012] respectively. Predictors of collective responsibility were age 31–45 years [OR = 2.89 (95% CI, 1.29–6.48), P = 0.01], being single [OR = 2.76 (95% CI, 1.94 -3.92), P < 0.001], being a graduate [OR = 1.59 (95% CI (1.32–1.92), P < 0.001], having no chronic disease [OR = 2.14 (95% CI, 1.56–2.93), P < 0.001], and not knowing anyone who died from mpox [OR = 2.54 (95% CI, 1.39–4.64), P < 0.001), as well as living in a middle-income country [OR = 0.623, (95% CI, 0.51–0.73), P < 0.001]. Conclusions: This study underscores the multifaceted nature of psychological antecedents of vaccination, emphasizing the impact of socio-demographic factors, geographic location, and awareness, as well as previous experiences on individual attitudes and collective responsibility towards vaccination.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Public awareness of monkeypox is critical in the fight against this infectious disease. However, at present a survey of the Chinese population on monkeypox is lacking. This study was conducted to compensate for the lack of knowledge and identify a vaccination intention assessment for monkeypox in China.METHODS: The questionnaire comprised 20 items with the following three aspects: basic information, knowledge, and willingness to vaccinate or pay. For this study, 521 valid respondents were recruited. Utilizing logistic regression, the researchers identified the factors related with knowledge and vaccination intentions.RESULTS: The average total score for knowledge of monkeypox was 5.6 (score range 0-10), and 309 (59.3%) participants were categorized as having greater knowledge based on a total score of 6. Most participants (76.4%) were willing to accept a monkeypox vaccination. The average acceptable cost of the monkeypox vaccine was CNY261.2. Factors such as level of education, and working within the healthcare profession were related to monkeypox knowledge. An increased knowledge of monkeypox was related to a higher willingness to vaccinate. Participants who were willing to pay more for vaccines included those with high incomes, who suffered from chronic diseases, and healthcare workers.CONCLUSIONS: The Chinese population had relatively high knowledge of monkeypox and demonstrated a willingness to receive the vaccine.

Abstract:Background: In May 2022, the monkeypox virus outbreak in multiple countries on various continents marked a potential resurgence of the disease as a global health issue. Considering the crucial role of physicians in mitigating the monkeypox outbreak, we sought to evaluate physicians’ knowledge, attitude, concerns, and vaccine acceptance for monkeypox, in the shadow of the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A large-scale, cross-sectional survey was conducted among 283 physicians between 20 August−2 September 2022, in Turkey. The participants’ sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge, attitudes, concerns, and vaccine acceptance toward monkeypox infection were collected via a questionnaire. Results: Our study revealed that 32.5% of physicians achieved a good level of knowledge; similarly, 31.4% of the physicians planned to have the monkeypox vaccine. Multivariate binary logistic regression analysis showed that female physicians (p = 0.031) and older people (≥30 vs. <30) were more likely to be knowledgeable about monkeypox (p = 0.007). We found that participants from divisions of internal medicine (p = 0.033) who knew about the monkeypox disease during medical school or residency (p = 0.005) and were previously exposed to COVID-19 disease (p = 0.005) were more likely to have a good knowledge score of monkeypox. We also found that physicians with a good knowledge score were more worried about monkeypox compared to COVID-19 (AOR: 2.22; 95% CI:1.13−4.33; p = 0.019). Additionally, those who had information on monkeypox during medical education (AOR = 2.16, 95% CI = 1.10−4.21; p = 0.024) were more likely to receive the smallpox vaccine to prevent monkeypox viral infection when available. Conclusions: The present study pointed out that physicians in Turkey have unsatisfactory levels of knowledge about the emerging monkeypox. This study results can impede attempts to detect and manage cases of monkeypox and should be addressed through appropriate and timely awareness and educational programs, alerts, and seminars. These might serve as the basis for policymakers’ decisions about promoting national monkeypox vaccination strategies and addressing potential vaccine hesitancy and misinformation when needed.

Abstract:Monkeypox (MPOX) was declared a global public health emergency of international concern in July 2022. Vaccinations may be an essential strategy to prevent MPOX infections and reduce their impact on populations, especially among at-risk populations. However, less is known about the factors associated with people's willingness to accept the MPOX vaccine in resource-constrained settings. In this study, we examine the associations between self-rated health, previous vaccine uptake, and people's willingness to accept the MPOX vaccine using cross-sectional data from four major cities in Ghana. The data were analyzed using descriptive and logistic regression techniques. We found that the acceptance of the MPOX vaccine is generally low (approximately 32%) in Ghana. The regression analysis reveals that individuals who did not receive vaccines in the past are much less likely to get the MPOX vaccine (AOR:.28; 95% CI:.62-2.37). The association between self-rated health and vaccine acceptance (AOR: 1.22; 95% CI:.62-2.37) disappeared after we accounted for covariates. Based on these findings, we conclude that vaccine uptake history may be critical to people's uptake of the MPOX vaccine.

Abstract:Human monkeypox virus infection (mpox) is a reemerging viral zoonotic disease that has been occurring outside of locations where it has been endemic in Africa. To understand the shifting epidemiology of this disease and respond accordingly, increased clinical skill and professional capabilities are essential. However, there are no studies assessing the knowledge of healthcare professionals in Ethiopia on mpox. Hence, this paper aimed to assess knowledge of the infection and associated factors among healthcare providers in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, specifically knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of mpox, from November 14, 2022 to November 25, 2022. A facility-based cross-sectional study design was used. Knowledge was assessed using a structured questionnaire, and a 70% Bloom's cutoff point was used to classify the scores. A pretest was conducted in a similar setting before data collection. Frequencies, percentages, and bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used. The majority of participants, 128 (64.6% with 95% CI), scored below 70% on knowledge questions. Professionals with experience of 5 years or less had better knowledge than those who had worked longer (adjusted odds ratio: 0.301; 95% CI: 0.149-0.609; P = 0.000). Knowledge of mpox among healthcare providers in Addis Ababa was poor across sociodemographic and professional variables. Thus, education on mpox among healthcare providers in Ethiopia is critical in preparing the workforce and limiting potential damage to the country.

Abstract:Before 2022, monkeypox virus (Mpox) infection in humans was seldom reported outside Africa. During the May 2022 outbreak, most cases were detected among men who have sex with men (MSM). Since Mpox is largely unknown to the general population, through a self-completion questionnaire, we investigated the behaviours and knowledge of our at-risk population belonging to the sexually transmitted infection (STI) outpatient clinic of the Infectious Diseases Unit of the ASST Spedali Civili of Brescia, Italy, between August and October 2022. Most patients that took part in the compilation are HIV positive MSM. The other participants were HIV-seronegative patients with other STIs. Overall, 144 questionnaires were compiled. Most of the participants were Italians (130;90%) and males (139;96.5%) between 30 and 60 years (118;82%). Almost all (136;94%) reported having heard about Mpox and more than half (80;56%) received information about the transmission. Twenty-four respondents (16%) received information from health professionals and 14 (10%) believed that the information received was complete. Although 41% of respondents thought they were at risk of getting the infection and 62% were afraid to get it, the majority (56%) did not increase the precautions taken. When asked if they would accept a vaccine to prevent the disease, more than a third (32%) of respondents expressed hesitation or complete refusal to be vaccinated. Based on our results, what emerges is that there is still a lack of knowledge and awareness about Mpox. To address this issue, targeted health promotion and education strategies that provide the necessary resources to reduce risk behaviours and enhance connections with healthcare professionals are needed.

Abstract:Abstract Background The recent increase in human mpox (monkeypox) cases emphasizes the importance of early detection, prompt response and preventive management to control the spread of the disease. Healthcare workers (HCWs) play a crucial role in this process. This study aimed to determine the global knowledge and attitudes towards mpox among HCWs. Methods This study searched multiple databases, including Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed/MEDLINE, Science Direct, Web of Science, Embase, Springer and ProQuest, to locate various publications. The search was limited to English-language articles published between May 2022 (when the increase in mpox incidence was reported) and August 2023. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) quality checklist was utilized to evaluate the quality of the included studies. Data were obtained using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and subsequently scrutinized through STATA software, version 14. The heterogeneity of the studies was assessed using the inverse variance and Cochran Q statistics based on the I2 test statistics. The Dersimonian and Liard random effects models were used where heterogeneity existed. Subgroup analysis and univariate and multivariable metaregression techniques were used to examine the causes of heterogeneity. Results A total of 22 studies, including 22 studies for knowledge (27 731 HCWs) and 6 studies for attitudes (14 388 HCWs), were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled estimates for good knowledge and positive attitudes among HCWs were 26.0% (95% confidence interval [CI] 17.8 to 34.2) and 34.6% (95% CI 19.0 to 50.2), respectively. Moreover, the knowledge was 34.8% (95% CI 24.1 to 45.6) among HCWs with <5 y of work experience and 41.6% (95% CI 33.1 to 50) among individuals possessing >5 y of professional background. Conclusions Good knowledge of HCWs is at a low level. It is suggested that training sessions should be tailored towards younger HCWs with less healthcare experience. Additionally, it is essential to identify strategies on how to improve the knowledge and attitudes for better practice about the disease in HCWs worldwide.

Perceptions, Precautions, and Vaccine Acceptance Related to Monkeypox in the Public in China: A Cross-Sectional Survey

Abstract:Background: The World Health Organization declared monkeypox as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted to understand beliefs, attitudes, perceived preventive measures, and vaccination acceptance related to monkeypox in the public in China.Methods: Between August 30 and September 15, 2022, we recruited adults through an online survey platform. Demographic characteristics, perceptions, common knowledge, concerns, attitudes, willingness to adopt pre-ventive measures (including hygiene practices, social distancing, and travel avoidance), and vaccination ac-ceptance related to monkeypox were collected. Logistic regression was used to assess correlates of concerns about monkeypox, willingness to adopt preventive measures, and vaccination acceptance.Results: 2135 participants were recruited (median age: 31.4 years). 62.7% were concerned about mon-keypox. 33.2% were more concerned about monkeypox compared to COVID-19. Males (aOR 0.61, 95%CI 0.50-0.74), accessing monkeypox information from the Internet (0.77, 0.61-0.98), and willingness to adopt monkeypox vaccine (2.9, 2.38-3.53) were associated with concerns about monkeypox. Most participants were willing to adopt precautions (76.3% hygiene practices, 68.2% social distancing, 85.9% travel avoidance). Individuals who were concerned about monkeypox (hygiene practices: 2.09, 1.69-2.59; social distancing: 1.78, 1.46-2.16; travel avoidance: 1.74, 1.34-2.26) and had better knowledge about monkeypox (hygiene practices: 1.85, 1.48-2.31; social distancing: 2.17, 1.77-2.66; travel avoidance: 1.74, 1.34-2.26) were more likely to adopt precautions. 68.8% were willing to adopt monkeypox vaccine. Participants with older age (aged 40-49: 0.57, 0.38-0.85; aged 50 +: 0.50, 0.31-0.81), and higher income ( yen 6000-10,00 0: 0.61, 0.39-0.95; >= yen 10,00 0: 0.48, 0.30-0.77) were less likely to adopt the monkeypox vaccine. Being concerned more about monkeypox compared to COVID-19 (1.63, 1.31-2.02), and having better knowledge about monkeypox (1.34, 1.09-1.66) were associated with willingness to adopt vaccination.Conclusions: Compared with COVID-19, monkeypox attracted significantly less attention in the public in China, who currently have insufficient monkeypox knowledge. Interventions aimed at improving mon-keypox knowledge and precautions among different groups of individuals in China are needed. (c) 2022 The Author(s). Abstract:Abstract Background Immunization, as a preventive strategy against infectious diseases, has consolidated its position as a fundamental pillar in the field of public health. Therefore, the present study aimed to determine the prevalence of the intention to receive the monkeypox (Mpox) vaccine. Methods A systematic review and meta-analysis of the available evidence was performed using five databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and ScienceDirect) with a search strategy until July 24, 2023. Data analysis was performed in R software version 4.2.3. The quality of the included cross-sectional studies was assessed using the “JBI-MAStARI”. In addition, a subgroup analysis by population and continent was developed. Results Twenty-nine cross-sectional articles with a total sample of 52 658 participants were included. The pooled prevalence of intention to vaccinate against Mpox was 61% (95% CI: 53–69%; 52,658 participants; 29 studies; I 2 = 100%). In the subgroup analysis, the intention to be vaccinated against Mpox according to continents was 64% (95% CI: 53–74%; 13,883 participants; 17 studies; I 2 = 99%) in Asian countries, 43% (95% CI: 39–47%; 1538 participants; 3 studies; I 2 = 53%) in African countries, 62% (95% CI: 45–78%; 35,811 participants; 6 studies; I 2 = 99%) in European countries, and 63% (95% CI: 32–89%; 1426 participants; 3 studies; I 2 = 99%) in American countries. In the subgroup analysis on the intention to be vaccinated against Mpox, according to study subjects, it was 54% (95% CI: 45–62%; 10,296 participants; 11 studies; I 2 = 99%) in the general population, 57% (95% CI: 33–79%; 3333 participants; 10 studies; I 2 = 99%) in health care workers, and 76% (95% CI: 70–82%; 39,029 participants; 8 studies; I 2 = 98%) in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex (LGBTI) community. In addition, as a secondary outcome, a prevalence of refusal of Mpox vaccination was found to be 22% (95% CI: 16–30%; 45,577 participants; 21 studies; I 2 = 99%). Conclusion The study highlights the importance of recognizing regional and subgroup disparities in Mpox vaccine willingness and refusal. It emphasizes the importance of employing strategies to achieve widespread vaccination coverage and safeguard public health worldwide. Abstract:Phosphorus-related amino acids and peptide are chemically active species that exhibited biomimetic reactivity.1 They have been proposed to play an important role in the prebiotic synthesis of protein and nucleotides.2,3 The participation of highly coordinated phosphoric intermediates such as pentaand hexa-coordinated phosphorus were speculated to be involved in the mechanisms.4,5 A series of phosphorylated amino acids were also capable of producing oligopeptides through a pentacoordinated phosphorus transition state.6 A number of pentacoordinated phosphoranes7 such as bisaminoacylspirophosphoranes were used to synthesize peptides.8–11 However, the electrospray ionization mass spectrometric (ESI-MS) fragmentation characteristics12 of the pentacoordinated bisaminoacylspirophosphoranes have not been studied. Therefore, we synthesized a series of bisaminoacylspirophosphoranes and investigated their fragmentation processes. All of the pentacoordinated bisamino acyl spirophosphoranes were synthesized from phosphorus trichloride and sodium salts of amino acids in glycol dimethyl ether, and recrystallized from acetone (Scheme 1). All of them showed 31P NMR spectra in the range of 65 to about 75 ppm with a P–H coupling constant 3⁄4820 Hz. Chemicals for synthesis were purchased from Sigma or Glsynthesis (China). Apart from high-resolution mass spectra of 1 obtained with a Bruker APEX II Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR) mass spectrometer equipped with an ESI source, all mass spectra were acquired with a Bruker ESQUIRE-3000 plus ion trap spectrometer equipped with a gas nebulizer probe in the positive ion mode. The samples in methanol were ionized by ESI and continuously infused into the ESI chamber at a flowrate of 4 μl min 1 by a model 74900 syringe pump (Cole-Parmer Instrument Company). Ions were measured by multi-stage tandem mass spectrometry through collisions with helium. Abstract:Introduction: The zoonotic features and potential for transmission between animals and humans make the monkeypox (MPX) virus, a member of the orthopoxvirus family, a serious threat. Unfortunately, healthcare staff's lack of knowledge and readiness about MPX has made it harder to implement effective prevention and response plans. Our current understanding of the KAPs (Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices) among Jordanian clinicians could benefit from additional research. Methods: This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the MPX KAP among 300 healthcare workers (HCWs) in two private hospitals in the Irbid governorate of Jordan. We employed descriptive statistics, such as percentages and frequencies, as well as an independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and multiple linear regression (enter method) for data analysis. Results: Although differences existed between demographic groups, the study found that participants had an average level of MPX knowledge proficiency. Out of a total of 300 participants, 196 were female and 104 were male, with 52.7% in the 20–30 age bracket. Compared to their female counterparts, male respondents exhibited higher levels of knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding MPX. Attitudes and practices towards MPX varied by age group and level of education, demonstrating how demographic factors impact these aspects of public health. Additionally, monkeypox attitudes were lower among women, those with a diploma degree, and those aged 31–40. Conclusions: Healthcare staff require adequate training and continuous education to address their lack of knowledge and attitudes regarding MPX protection. Staying updated about new illnesses like MPX is crucial, as the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated. To effectively tackle global health concerns, continuous learning and up-to-date knowledge are essential.
