Abstract:PurposePeritoneal metastases (PM) of neuroendocrine neoplasm (NEN) origin are identified with increasing frequency and exert a significant effect on quality of life and clinical status of the patients. The aim of this study was to identify the characteristics and the prognostic significance of PM in patients with NENs.MethodsA retrospective analysis of the data of patients from two tertiary referral centers was performed. We defined a control group of age- and gender-matched NEN patients with comparable stage IV disease but no PM.ResultsWe analysed 70 patients (41 females) with PM. Small intestine was the most common primary NEN site (87.1%). PM prevalence was 10.3%. Forty-four patients presented with synchronous PM, whereas 26 developed metachronous PM. The majority of patients had other concomitant metastases (50 hepatic, 6 lung and 12 bone metastases). Twelve patients developed intestinal obstruction. After PM diagnosis, 76% of patients received treatment with somatostatin analogues while six patients (8.6%) were treated with peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT). The median progression-free survival (PFS) in the PRRT-treated group was 15 months (95% CI 2–28). Median overall survival (OS) in the PM group was 142 months [95% CI 71–213] while it was not reached in the control group.ConclusionPeritoneal metastases show low prevalence among NEN patients and are most likely to develop in patients with small intestinal NENs and advanced metastatic disease. The presence of PM does seem to be associated with a negative prognostic impact on OS of NEN patients and their identification and prompt treatment is of major importance.

Abstract:The case report by Robinson 1 in this issue of The Journal represents the most serious published re port to date of an adverse effect in a person taking oral creatine supplements. In light of its severity, it is prudent to speculate on the likelihood that this man's creatine consumption contributed to his rhabdomyolysis. Rhabdomyolysis results from a breakdown of the muscle cell wall, which leads to cell necrosis. It is thought to be the result of a plasma membrane defect or a disturbance in the sodium-potassium pump that allows an influx of calcium into the cell, which triggers a cascade of events leading to cell necrosis. 2 Robinson speculates that intracellular water retention led to increased skeletal muscle compartment pressures, which placed the patient at risk for cellular wall breakdown. Such a hypothesis is simplistic yet worthy of consideration. It is accepted that oral creatine sup plementation results in a rapid weight gain, easily noted within 24 hours. 3 ,4 Clearly, 24 hours is not enough to induce skeletal muscle hypertrophy; the gain is the result of intracellular and extracellular fluid retention. Although no studies have evaluated creatine supplementation and its effect on muscle compartment pressures, anecdotal evidence of ath letes feeling "tight" or "cramped" abounds. Muscle cramping remains one of the most common side effects reported by those taking creatine. 5 ,6 Risk factors for rhabdomyolysis include dehy dration, alcoholism, illicit drug use, trauma, stren uous exercise, hypophosphatemia, and a hyperos molal state. 2 ,7,8 Robinson's patient had exercised the day before Robinson saw him, though his fluid and electrolyte status were not known. Abstract:BACKGROUND:Gastric mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasm (MiNEN), which consists of neuroendocrine and non-neuroendocrine components, is quite rare. Until now, most data on gastric MiNEN come from clinical cases, without large-scale retrospective studies or controlled clinical trials. Consequently, no consensus regarding the origin, molecular characteristics, or appropriate treatment of MiNEN has been reached so far. We conducted chemotherapy of irinotecan plus cisplatin (IP regimen) and surgery in two patients with gastric MiNEN, which had never been used in treating this kind of tumor, leading to their long-term survival for more than 3 and 7 years, respectively.CASE SUMMARY:We present two patients (one male and one female) with gastric MiNEN, with the primary manifestation of recurrent upper abdominal pain. After they were referred to our hospital, a diagnosis of gastric MiNEN was defined with the help of CT scan, and histopathological and immunohistochemical examinations on the samples of gastrointestinal endoscopy or radical surgery. The male patient (case 1) were found to have metastases in the reginal lymph nodes and the left liver. He received four cycles of IP regimens first, then the gastrectomy and partial left liver resection, followed by additional two cycles of IP chemotherapy. The female patient (case 2) underwent a laparoscopic gastrectomy, and received six cycles of IP regimen. She was found to have metastatic lesions in the right lung 2 years after that, and underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) of the lower lobe of the right lung. The two patients have now survived for more than 3 years and 7 years, respectively, without any evidence of recurrence or metastases.CONCLUSION:IP regimen, combined with curative-intent surgery if feasible, could be considered as the priority in the choice of front-line chemotherapy for gastric MiNEN.

Abstract:Introduction Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are classified as neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs), and mixed neuroendocrine and nonneuroendocrine neoplasms (MiNENs) according to World Health Organization classification. We present our experience of NENs of the gallbladder (GB) from a high‐volume cancer hospital. Materials and Methods The present study is a retrospective analysis of all patients with GB NENs who presented between January 2015 and June 2023. The patient details and treatment received with follow‐up were noted. The primary endpoint was overall survival (OS). Results A total of 147 patients were included in the study. The median age was 52 (27–81) years. There was a female predominance (70.7%). NEC was the most common subtype (84.4%) followed by MiNEN (12.9%) and NET (2.7%). The most common stage at presentation was metastatic (70.7%) followed by locally advanced (21.8%), and early disease (7.5%). The median follow‐up was 9.92 (1.77–76.06) months. Median OS was 6.14 (3.93–8.35) months. Median OS in patients who received multimodality treatment was 20.20 (17.99–22.41) months versus 4.00 (2.91–5.10) months in those who did not receive it. Conclusion GB NENs are rare, but aggressive tumors with NEC being the most common type. Multimodality treatment yields favorable outcomes. However, the development of better systemic therapy is needed to help improve survival further.

The Clinicopathological Characteristics and Surgical Treatment of Gastrointestinal Neuroendocrine Neoplasm—A 10-Year Single-Center Experience

Abstract:Background: Gastrointestinal neuroendocrine neoplasms (GI-NENs) represent a diverse group of tumors, with surgical resection being the gold standard for treatment. Materials and methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 63 patients (32 women, 31 men) who underwent surgery for GI-NENs at the Department of Digestive Tract Surgery from January 2013 to June 2023. Tumors were classified by stage (localized, regionally advanced, metastatic). Results: Clinical symptoms were reported by 42 (66.7%) patients, with abdominal pain being the most common symptom, affecting 28 (44.4%) patients. The majority of tumors (44, 69.8%) originated in the midgut. The most frequently performed surgery was right hemicolectomy, carried out on 33 (52.4%) patients. Radical tumor resection was performed in 35 (55.6%) patients. Postoperative complications occurred in 12 (19%) patients, with male gender identified as an independent predictive factor for complications (p = 0.04). Non-functioning tumors were more common (33, 52.4%), and most tumors were classified as grade 1 histopathologically (49, 77.8%). Distant metastases were present in 29 (46%) patients. The overall two-year survival rate was 94.9%, with a five-year survival rate also estimated at 94.9%. Conclusions: GI-NENs are often diagnosed at advanced stages, frequently with distant or lymph node metastases, and predominantly arise in the midgut. Despite low postoperative morbidity and mortality, male gender may be a predictor of postoperative complications. Overall, the prognosis for GI-NENs is favorable, reflected in high overall survival rates.

[Well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors of the digestive tract: Focus on pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors]

Abstract:Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are rare tumors showing a rising incidence. They are well-differentiated tumors, classified by grade according to their Ki67 index value (grade 1 to 3). Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are mainly sporadic tumors but about 10% arise within endocrine tumor syndromes such as multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1. They can be responsible for functional syndromes or non-specific clinical symptoms depending on tumor extension. However, there is also an increase of incidental diagnoses of nonfunctional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors with the widespread use of high-quality imaging techniques. About 50 % of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors are diagnosed at a metastatic stage, with metastases often located in the liver. Chromogranin A, CT-scan and often an abdominal MRI, and functional imaging should be performed for tumor staging and follow-up. Imaging with PET/CT with 68Ga-labeled somatostatin analogues has the highest sensitivity for the diagnosis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, while 18fluorodeoxyglucose PET/CT can sometimes be useful. Overall, they are rather indolent tumors with prolonged survival. Surgery is the recommended treatment in the localized setting, with the exception of small<2cm nonfunctional tumors that can be monitored with imaging techniques. For advanced tumors, there are several available treatments such as somatostatine analogues, chemotherapy, targeted therapies (sunitinib, everolimus), locoregional ablative therapies and Peptide Receptor Radiolabelled Therapy. The treatment strategy will depend on the initial tumor staging, tumor grade, aggressiveness and patient's choice.
Clinical experience sharing on gastric microneuroendocrine tumors: A case report

Abstract:BACKGROUND The majority of gastric neuroendocrine tumors (G-NENs) are present in various lesions under endoscopy, and they can be polypoid uplifts, submucosal tumors or papules, erosions, and ulcers. The lesions are mostly confined to the mucosal or submucosal layer, usually less than 2 cm, and exclusively localized to the gastric body or fundus. In type 1 G-NENs, about 22% of cases have no visible lesions under an endoscope, and such lesions can only be detected via biopsies (microcarcinoids). CASE SUMMARY A 67-year-old female patient with appetite loss for more than half a year and personal history of hyperthyroidism was admitted to our hospital. After admission, a random multi-point biopsy was performed on the gastric body, fundus, angle, and antrum through gastroscopy. Pathological examination showed chronic severe atrophic gastritis in the fundus and body of the stomach. The small curvature of the gastric body, the anterior wall of the gastric body, and the posterior wall of the gastric body displayed proliferation of intestinal chromaffin cells. The curvature of the gastric body showed neuroendocrine tumor G1 (carcinoid), while the antrum and angle of the stomach showed mild atrophic gastritis with mild intestinal metaplasia. Immunohistochemical examination showed that the greater curvature of the gastric body was Syn (+), CgA (+), and Ki-67 (+, approximately 1%), which is consistent with neuroendocrine tumors (grade 1). Regular gastroscopy and biopsy should be performed every one to two years to monitor G-NENs. CONCLUSION In the case under study, the patient did not have any visible raised lesions under a gastroscope, and the lesions were found only after a random biopsy. This article combines the endoscopic manifestations and clinical features of the lesions in this case to improve the diagnosis of G-NENs.

Abstract:Background: Rectal neuroendocrine tumors (rNENs) are rare, constituting 1–2% of rectal tumors, and are often asymptomatic, leading to challenges in early diagnosis. Current management guidelines recommend endoscopic resection for small lesions and surgical intervention for larger or high-risk tumors. This study aims to retrospectively analyze the pathological characteristics, management, and prognosis of rNEN patients. Methods: Data from the Neuroendocrine Tumor Registry at a tertiary hospital in Milan, Italy from 2005 to 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Patient demographics, disease characteristics, pathology findings, treatment details, and surveillance data were collected. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, multivariable binary logistic regression, and Kaplan–Meier survival analysis. Results: Forty-five patients were included, 53.3% male with a mean age of 57.5 years. Most patients were asymptomatic, with incidental diagnosis during colonoscopy. Endoscopic excision was the primary treatment modality (77.8%), with surgical resection reserved for incomplete or inappropriate endoscopic resections. Disease progression occurred in 13 patients (28.9%), with tumor-related mortality of 22.2%. Kaplan–Meier analysis showed 5- and 10-year survival rates of 68.8% and 59.1%, respectively, with corresponding progression-free survival rates of 72.8% and 54.0%. Tumor stage was significantly associated with disease progression on multivariable analysis (OR = 7.230, p = 0.039). Conclusions: This study highlights the heterogeneous presentation and prognosis of rNENs, with a substantial proportion diagnosed incidentally. Endoscopic management was predominantly utilized, aligning with current guidelines for localized tumors. Tumor stage emerged as a significant predictor of disease progression, emphasizing the importance of accurate staging for optimal management. Further research is warranted to refine management protocols and validate these findings.

Abstract:Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are highly heterogeneous and potentially malignant tumors arising from secretory cells of the neuroendocrine system. Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP-NENs) are the most common subtype of NENs. Historically, GEP-NENs have been regarded as infrequent and slow-growing malignancies; however, recent data have demonstrated that the worldwide prevalence and incidence of GEP-NENs have increased exponentially over the last three decades. In addition, an increasing number of studies have proven that GEP-NENs result in a limited life expectancy. These findings suggested that the natural biology of GEP-NENs is more aggressive than commonly assumed. Therefore, there is an urgent need for advanced researches focusing on the diagnosis and management of patients with GEP-NENs. In this review, we have summarized the limitations and recent advancements in our comprehension of the epidemiology, clinical presentations, pathology, molecular biology, diagnosis, and treatment of GEP-NETs to identify factors contributing to delays in diagnosis and timely treatment of these patients.

Abstract:Peritoneal metastasis in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors poses a significant clinical challenge, with limited data guiding management strategies. We review the existing literature on surgical and systemic treatment modalities for peritoneal metastasis from gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. Surgical interventions, including cytoreductive surgery, have shown promise in improving symptom control and overall survival—particularly in cases in which 70% cytoreduction can be achieved. Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy remains controversial due to a paucity of high-level evidence and a lack of consensus for routine use. The use of systemic therapy in the setting of peritoneal metastasis from gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors is extrapolated from high-quality evidence for its use in the setting of the solid organ metastasis of this disease. The use of somatostatin analogs for symptom control and some antiproliferative effects is supported by large clinical trials. Additional strong evidence exists for the use of interferon-alpha, everolimus, and sunitinib, particularly in pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors. Cytotoxic chemotherapy and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy may be used in select cases, though as an emerging treatment modality, the optimal sequence of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy within the existing algorithms is unknown. Significant gaps in understanding and standardized management exist, particularly for those patients presenting with peritoneal metastasis, and targeted research to optimize outcomes in this population is needed.

Abstract:Neuroendocrine neoplasms of the pancreas (pNENs) are rare. In February 2021, a 54‐year‐old woman was diagnosed with pNEN and multiple metastases within the liver. The patient, diagnosed with grade G2 neuroendocrine neoplasm (T4N0M1), underwent an ultrasonography‐guided liver biopsy and radiofrequency ablation. After receiving Sandostatin LAR in April 2021, side effects led to its discontinuation after seven cycles. Following two sessions of radiofrequency ablation, the patient's condition was stable. However, disease progression was noted in September 2023, resulting in hemodialysis and closed peritoneal drainage. Surufatinib was administered, stabilizing the tumor by November 2023. The patient underwent transarterial chemoembolization due to a large tumor burden, with subsequent MRCP showing stability from diagnosis in February 2021 to June 2024. The present case report highlights the role of tailored treatment strategies considering patient comorbidities and tumor biology, and the significance of secondary puncture biopsy, which, despite not being pursued by the patient in the present study due to the associated risks, may provide survival benefits for patients with advanced or metastatic pNEN.

Abstract:Abstract Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) are rare neoplasms originating from neuroendocrine cells, with increasing incidence due to enhanced detection methods. These tumors display considerable heterogeneity, necessitating diverse management strategies based on factors like organ of origin and tumor size. This article provides a comprehensive overview of therapeutic approaches for NENs, emphasizing the role of imaging in treatment decisions. It categorizes tumors based on their locations: gastric, duodenal, pancreatic, small bowel, colonic, rectal, appendiceal, gallbladder, prostate, lung, gynecological, and others. The piece also elucidates the challenges in managing metastatic disease and controversies surrounding MEN1–neuroendocrine tumor management. The article underscores the significance of individualized treatment plans, underscoring the need for a multidisciplinary approach to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Abstract:Introduction: Mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasms (MiNEN) represent roughly 1-2% of all colorectal malignancies. Given the rareness and heterogeneity of these mixed tumors, recognition and accurate diagnosis remain a challenge. In the absence of established guidelines, they are treated according to the standard of care for pure neuroendocrine carcinomas or adenocarcinomas from similar sites of origin. Case presentation: We herein report a case of a rectal MiNEN in a 55-year-old male. He underwent colonoscopy for rectal bleeding and mucus emission, which revealed a vegetating lesion located approximately 8 cm from the anal verge, corresponding to a moderately differentiated low-grade adenocarcinoma of the rectum. Computed tomography scan and magnetic resonance imaging uncovered the presence of lung, lymph node, and subcutaneous implant metastases. The biopsy of the cutaneous implant showed neuroendocrine carcinoma Ki-67 90%. The patient underwent systemic chemotherapy. Conclusion: High-grade MiNEN tumors are the most commonly encountered in clinical practice and have an aggressive biological behavior. Little is known about the genetic drivers of this neoplasm and its pathogenesis remains controversial. Clinical and pathological awareness of this rare entity is a key step to design future targeted therapies and improve treatment options. The aim of this case report is to further our understanding regarding the clinical presentation, radiological features, pathology, management, and prognosis of MiNEN.

Abstract:A 46-year-old Chinese woman was admitted to our hospital because of presence of space-occupying lesions in the liver for 2 months in April, 2015. She had a family history of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) and physical examination is unremarkable. Previously, she has performed surgery for primary pituitary tumor in 2002 and radiosurgery for its recurrence. Around December 2014, she suffered from abdominal discomfort associated with regurgitation and gastroscopy revealed "gastroduodenal ulcers", along with elevated gastrin. Next, both magnetic resonance and computed tomography imaging showed multiple intrahepatic lesions, the PET-CT unveiled uptake pattern of 18F-FDG in duodenum and multiple intrahepatic lesions, resembling the appearance of metastatic gastrinoma. The octreotide scan gave identical results. The parathyroid SPECT scans showed abnormal concentrations of radioactivity in right parathyroid. She also had an elevated serum chromogranin A (CgA) level. There was medical evidence to show that she is metastatic MEN1. Although multiple liver metastases, they were considered to be resectable after MDT consultation. The intraoperative exploration found a 1.5 cm tumor on the surface of the tail of the pancreas, a 12 cm retroperitoneal lipoma and two liver metastases, sized 3.5 cm and 1.5 cm, respectively. All these tumors were completely removed. For pancreatic tumor, pathological findings met the diagnostic criteria of neuroendocrine tumor (NET) (G2). Immunohistochemistry revealed neuroendocrine areas were diffusely positive for ATRX, DAXX, SSR2, SSR5 and CgA. For lipoma, the FISH results were negative for CDK4 and MDM2 genes. Postoperatively, adjuvant therapy with octreotide was applied. This case suggested that, as for metastatic gastrinoma, a potentially curative surgical debulking should be considered when a resection of complete or more than 90% of metastatic lesions along with the primary site could be achieved, which is helpful to control symptoms and delay the subsequent need for therapy.

Abstract:Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP-NENs) are rare epithelial neoplasms derived from pluripotent endocrine cells along the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas. GEP-NENs are classified into well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors and poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas. Despite overlapping morphological features, GEP-NENs vary in molecular biology, epigenetic, clinical behavior, treatment response, and prognosis features and remain an unmet clinical challenge. In this review, we introduce recent updates on the histopathologic classification, including the tumor grading and staging system, molecular genetics, and systemic evaluation of the diagnosis and treatment of GEP-NENs at different anatomic sites, together with some insights into the diagnosis of challenging and unusual cases. We also discuss the application of novel therapeutic approaches for GEP-NENs, including peptide receptor radionuclide therapy, targeted therapy, and immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors. These findings will help improve patient care with precise diagnosis and individualized treatment of patients with GEP-NENs.

Decoding the Molecular and Mutational Ambiguities of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasm Pathobiology

Abstract:Gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP-NEN), considered a heterogeneous neoplasia, exhibit ill-defined pathobiology and protean symptomatology and are ubiquitous in location. They are difficult to diagnose, challenging to manage, and outcome depends on cell type, secretory product, histopathologic grading, and organ of origin. A morphologic and molecular genomic review of these lesions highlights tumor characteristics that can be used clinically, such as somatostatin-receptor expression, and confirms features that set them outside the standard neoplasia paradigm. Their unique pathobiology is useful for developing diagnostics using somatostatin-receptor targeted imaging or uptake of radiolabeled amino acids specific to secretory products or metabolism. Therapy has evolved via targeting of protein kinase B signaling or somatostatin receptors with drugs or isotopes (peptide-receptor radiotherapy). With DNA sequencing, rarely identified activating mutations confirm that tumor suppressor genes are relevant. Genomic approaches focusing on cancer-associated genes and signaling pathways likely will remain uninformative. Their uniquely dissimilar molecular profiles mean individual tumors are unlikely to be easily or uniformly targeted by therapeutics currently linked to standard cancer genetic paradigms. The prevalence of menin mutations in pancreatic NEN and P27KIP1 mutations in small intestinal NEN represents initial steps to identifying a regulatory commonality in GEP-NEN. Transcriptional profiling and network-based analyses may define the cellular toolkit. Multianalyte diagnostic tools facilitate more accurate molecular pathologic delineations of NEN for assessing prognosis and identifying strategies for individualized patient treatment. GEP-NEN remain unique, poorly understood entities, and insight into their pathobiology and molecular mechanisms of growth and metastasis will help identify the diagnostic and therapeutic weaknesses of this neoplasia.

Abstract:Abstract: The recognition of selective estrogen receptor modulation in the mid‐1980s provided a unique opportunity to develop multifunctional drugs. Tamoxifen, the first selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), is the first antiestrogen to be tested successfully for the prevention of breast cancer in high‐risk women. However, the recognition that SERMs maintain bone density and lower circulating cholesterol suggested that the prevention of osteoporosis and coronary heart disease would be beneficial side effects of tamoxifen treatment. This hypothesis has not been pursued in clinical trial, but an alternate hypothesis, that SERMs could be developed to prevent osteoporosis and potentially reduce the risk of breast cancer, has been pursued with raloxifene. Current molecule modeling of the SERM‐ER complex has identified the reason for the promiscuous estrogen‐like actions of tamoxifen compared with raloxifene. Future studies of the signal transduction pathways of the ER alpha (α)‐ and beta (β)‐SERM complexes hold the promise of new drug discoveries and a menu of preventive medicine in clinical practice.
Comprehensive Clinical Analysis of Gallbladder Neuroendocrine Neoplasms: A Large-Volume Multicenter Study During One Decade

Abstract:BackgroundThis study aimed to comprehensively investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics and therapeutic situations of gallbladder neuroendocrine neoplasms (GB-NENs) in the real world via a multicenter, large-scale cohort study.MethodsThe study searched for patients in 143 hospitals in China and enrolled 154 patients with GB-NENs diagnosed in 40 hospitals between 2004 and 2021. Clinicopathologic characteristics and therapeutic approaches were analyzed retrospectively.ResultsThe median age at the initial diagnosis of the patients with GB-NENs was 63 years (range 33–83 years), and 61.7% of the patients were women. Tumor-node-metastasis staging classified 92 patients as stage 3 or above. Based on the 2019 World Health Organization classification, 96 cases (62.3%) were confirmed pathologically as poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinomas, 13 cases (8.4%) as well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors, and 45 cases as mixed neuroendocrine-non-neuroendocrine neoplasms. The liver was the most frequent metastatic site. Immunohistochemistry showed that synaptophysin was most frequently positive (80.4%), followed by chromogranin A (61.7%), and CD56 (58.4%). Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed more common clear boundaries (25/39 cases) and invasive growth features (27 cases). None of these cases had an accurate diagnosis before surgery, with a misdiagnosis rate of 100%. Surgical resection is the main treatment, and platinum-based chemotherapeutic regimens were preferred as adjuvant therapies for patients with GB-NENs. The available survival data for 74 patients showed an overall survival rate of 59% at 1 year, 33% at 3 years, and 29% at 5 years. No significant difference was found between the patients treated with and those treated without adjuvant chemotherapy.ConclusionsGallbladder neuroendocrine neoplasms have high malignancy and a poor prognosis. Importantly, this large-scale cohort study significantly improves our understanding of GB-NENs and will benefit the exploration of its mechanism and treatment modes. Further investigation is necessary to explore the management of this disease.
