Abstract:Plant architecture is vital not only for crop yield, but also for field management, such as mechanical harvesting. The branch angle is one of the key factors determining plant architecture. With the aim of revealing the genetic control underlying branch angle in rapeseed (Brassica napus L.), the positional variation of branch angles on individual plants was evaluated, and the branch angle increased with the elevation of branch position. Furthermore, three middle branches of individual plants were selected to measure the branch angle because they exhibited the most representative phenotypic values. An association panel with 472 diverse accessions was estimated for branch angle trait in six environments and genotyped with a 60K Brassica Infinium® SNP array. As a result of association mapping, 46 and 38 significantly-associated loci were detected using a mixed linear model (MLM) and a multi-locus random-SNP-effect mixed linear model (MRMLM), which explained up to 62.2 and 66.2% of the cumulative phenotypic variation, respectively. Numerous highly-promising candidate genes were identified by annotating against Arabidopsis thaliana homologous, including some first found in rapeseed, such as TAC1, SGR1, SGR3, and SGR5. These findings reveal the genetic control underlying branch angle and provide insight into genetic improvements that are possible in the plant architecture of rapeseed.

Abstract:Branch number is an important trait in plant architecture that can influence crop yield and quality in Brassica napus. Here, we detected the QTLs responsible for branch number in a DH population and its reconstructed F2 population over two years. Further, a GWAS research on branch number was performed using a panel of 327 accessions with 33186 genomic SNPs from the 60 K Brassica Illumina® Infinium SNP array. Through combining linkage analysis and association mapping, a new QTL was fine mapped onto C03. Subsequently, we tested the correlations between the SNP polymorphisms and mRNA expression levels of genes in the target interval to identify potential loci or genes that control branch number through expression. The results show that 4 SNP loci are associated with the corresponding gene expression levels, and one locus (BnaC03g63480D) exhibited a significant correlation between the phenotype variation and gene expression levels. Our results provide insights into the genetic basis for branching morphogenesis and may be valuable for optimizing architecture in rapeseed breeding.

Abstract:KEY MESSAGE:QTL mapping plus bulked segregant analysis revealed a major QTL for shoot branching in non-heading Chinese cabbage. The candidate gene was then identified using sequence alignment and expression analysis. Shoot branching is a complex quantitative trait that contributes to plant architecture and ultimately yield. Although many studies have examined branching in grain crops, the genetic control of shoot branching in vegetable crops such as Brassica rapa L. ssp. chinensis remains poorly understood. In this study, we used bulked segregant analysis (BSA) of an F2 population to detect a major quantitative trait locus (QTL) for shoot branching, designated shoot branching 9 (qSB.A09) on the long arm of chromosome A09 in Brassica rapa L. ssp. chinensis. In addition, traditional QTL mapping of the F2 population revealed six QTLs in different regions. Of these, the mapping region on chromosome A09 was consistent with the results of BSA-seq analysis, as well as being stable over the 2-year study period, explaining 19.37% and 22.18% of the phenotypic variation across multiple genetic backgrounds. Using extreme recombinants, qSB.A09 was further delimited to a 127-kb genomic region harboring 28 annotated genes. We subsequently identified the GRAS transcription factor gene Bra007056 as a potential candidate gene; Bra007056 is an ortholog of MONOCULM 1 (MOC1), the key gene that controls tillering in rice. Quantitative RT-PCR further revealed that expression of Bra007056 was positively correlated with the shoot branching phenotype. Furthermore, an insertion/deletion marker specific to Bra007056 co-segregated with the shoot branching trait in the F2 populations. Overall, these results provide the basis for elucidating the molecular mechanism of shoot branching in Brassica rapa ssp. chinensis Makino.

Abstract:Plant height is a key morphological trait of rapeseed. In this study, we measured plant height of a rapeseed population across six environments. This population contains 476 inbred lines representing the major Chinese rapeseed genepool and 44 lines from other countries. The 60K Brassica Infinium® SNP array was utilized to genotype the association panel. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) was performed via three methods, including a robust, novel, nonparametric Anderson-Darling (A-D) test. Consequently, 68 loci were identified as significantly associated with plant height (P < 5.22 × 10(-5)), and more than 70% of the loci (48) overlapped the confidence intervals of reported QTLs from nine mapping populations. Moreover, 24 GWAS loci were detected with selective sweep signals, which reflected the signatures of historical semi-dwarf breeding. In the linkage disequilibrium (LD) decay range up-and downstream of 65 loci (r (2) > 0.1), we found plausible candidates orthologous to the documented Arabidopsis genes involved in height regulation. One significant association found by GWAS colocalized with the established height locus BnRGA in rapeseed. Our results provide insights into the genetic basis of plant height in rapeseed and may facilitate marker-based breeding.

Abstract:The rapeseed branch angle is an important morphological trait because an adequate branch angle enables more efficient light capture under high planting densities. Here, we report that the average angle of the five top branches provides a reliable representation of the average angle of all branches. Statistical analyses revealed a significantly positive correlation between the branch angle and multiple plant-type and yield-related traits. The 60 K Brassica Infinium® single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) array was utilized to genotype an association panel with 520 diverse accessions. A genome-wide association study was performed to determine the genetic architecture of branch angle and 56 loci were identified as being significantly associated with the branch angle trait via three models, including a robust, novel, nonparametric Anderson-Darling (A-D) test. Moreover, these loci explained 51.1% of the phenotypic variation when a simple additive model was applied. Within the linkage disequilibrium (LD) decay ranges of 53 loci, we observed plausible candidates orthologous to documented Arabidopsis genes, such as LAZY1, SGR2, SGR4, SGR8, SGR9, PIN3, PIN7, CRK5, TIR1 and APD7. These results provide insight into the genetic basis of the branch angle trait in rapeseed and might facilitate marker-based breeding for improvements in plant architecture.

Abstract:Background: Transcription factors GATAs are involved in plant developmental processes and respond to environmental stresses through binding DNA regulatory regions to regulate their downstream genes. However, little information on the GATA genes in Brassica napus is available. The release of the reference genome of B. napus provides a good opportunity to perform a genome-wide characterization of GATA family genes in rapeseed. Results: In this study, 96 GATA genes randomly distributing on 19 chromosomes were identified in B. napus , which were classified into four subfamilies based on phylogenetic analysis and their domain structures. The amino acids of BnGATAs were obvious divergence among four subfamilies in terms of their GATA domains, structures and motif compositions. Gene duplication and synteny between the genomes of B. napus and A. thaliana were also analyzed to provide insights into evolutionary characteristics. Moreover, BnGATAs showed different expression patterns in various tissues and under diverse abiotic stresses. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) distributions of BnGATAs in a core collection germplasm are probably associated with functional disparity under environmental stress condition in different genotypes of B. napus . Conclusion: The present study was investigated genomic structures, evolution features, expression patterns and SNP distributions of 96 BnGATAs. The results enrich our understanding of the GATA genes in rapeseed.

Abstract:Abstract Background and Aims Oilseed rape (Brassica napus) is one of the most important oil crops worldwide. Phosphorus (P) deficiency severely decreases the plant height and branch number of B. napus. However, the genetic bases controlling plant height and branch number in B. napus under P deficiency remain largely unknown. This study aims to mine candidate genes for plant height and branch number by genome-wide association study (GWAS) and determine low-P-tolerance haplotypes. Methods An association panel of B. napus was grown in the field with a low P supply (P, 0 kg ha−1) and a sufficient P supply (P, 40 kg ha−1) across 2 years and plant height and branch number were investigated. More than five million single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were used to conduct GWAS of plant height and branch number at two contrasting P supplies. Key Results A total of 2127 SNPs were strongly associated (P < 6·25 × 10−07) with plant height and branch number at two P supplies. There was significant correlation between phenotypic variation and the number of favourable alleles of associated loci on chromosomes A10 (chrA10_821671) and C08 (chrC08_27999846), which will contribute to breeding improvement by aggregating these SNPs. BnaA10g09290D and BnaC08g26640D were identified to be associated with chrA10_821671 and chrC08_27999846, respectively. Candidate gene association analysis and haplotype analysis showed that the inbred lines carrying ATT at BnaA10g09290Hap1 and AAT at BnaC08g26640Hap1 had greater plant height than lines carrying other haplotype alleles at low P supply. Conclusion Our results demonstrate the power of GWAS in identifying genes of interest in B. napus and provided insights into the genetic basis of plant height and branch number at low P supply in B. napus. Candidate genes and favourable haplotypes may facilitate marker-based breeding efforts aimed at improving P use efficiency in B. napus.

Abstract:Plant architecture involves important agronomic traits affecting crop yield, resistance to lodging, and fitness for mechanical harvesting in Brassica napus. Breeding high-yield varieties with plant architecture suitable for mechanical harvesting is the main goal of rapeseed breeders. Here, we report an accession of B. napus (4942C-5), which has a dwarf and compact plant architecture in contrast to cultivated varieties. A BC8 population was constructed by crossing a normal plant architecture line, 8008, with the recurrent parent 4942C-5. To investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying plant architecture, we performed phytohormone profiling, bulk segregant analysis sequencing (BSA-Seq), and RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) in BC8 plants with contrasting plant architecture. Genetic analysis indicated the plant architecture traits of 4942C-5 were recessive traits controlled by multiple genes. The content of auxin (IAA), gibberellin (GA), and abscisic acid (ABA) differed significantly between plants with contrasting plant architecture in the BC8 population. Based on BSA-Seq analysis, we identified five candidate intervals on chromosome A01, namely those of 0 to 6.33 Mb, 6.45 to 6.48 Mb, 6.51 to 6.53 Mb, 6.77 to 6.79 Mb, and 7 to 7.01 Mb regions. The RNA-Seq analysis revealed a total of 4378 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), of which 2801 were up-regulated and 1577 were down-regulated. There, further analysis showed that genes involved in plant hormone biosynthesis and signal transduction, cell structure, and the phenylpropanoid pathway might play a pivotal role in the morphogenesis of plant architecture. Association analysis of BSA-Seq and RNA-Seq suggested that seven DEGs involved in plant hormone signal transduction and a WUSCHEL-related homeobox (WOX) gene (BnaA01g01910D) might be candidate genes responsible for the dwarf and compact phenotype in 4942C-5. These findings provide a foundation for elucidating the mechanisms underlying rapeseed plant architecture and should contribute to breed new varieties suitable for mechanization.

Abstract:Introduction: Branching angle is an essential trait in determining the planting density of rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.) and hence the yield per unit area. However, the mechanism of branching angle formation in rapeseed is not well understood. Methods: In this study, two rapeseed germplasm with extreme branching angles were used to construct an F 2 segregating population; then bulked segregant analysis sequencing (BSA-seq) and quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping were utilized to localize branching anglerelated loci and combined with transcriptome sequencing (RNA-seq) and quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) for candidate gene mining Results and discussion: A branching angle-associated quantitative trait loci (QTL) was mapped on chromosome C3 (C3: 1.54-2.65 Mb) by combining BSA-seq as well as traditional QTL mapping. A total of 54 genes had SNP/Indel variants within the QTL interval were identified. Further, RNA-seq of the two parents revealed that 12 of the 54 genes were differentially expressed between the two parents. Finally, we further validated the differentially expressed genes using qPCR and found that six of them presented consistent differential expression in all small branching angle samples and large branching angles, and thus were considered as candidate genes related to branching angles in rapeseed. Our results introduce new candidate genes for the regulation of branching angle formation in rapeseed, and provide an important reference for the subsequent exploration of its formation mechanism.

Abstract:Root growth and thickening plays a key role in the final productivity and even the quality of storage roots in root crops. This study was conducted to identify and map quantitative trait loci (QTLs) affecting root morphological traits inBrassica rapa by using molecular markers. An F2 population was developed from a cross between Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp.chinensis) and turnip (B. rapa ssp.rapifera), which differed greatly in root characters. A genetic map covering 1837.1 cM, with 192 marker loci and 11 linkage groups, was constructed by using this F2 population. The F3 families derived from F2 plants were grown in the field and evaluated for taproot traits (thickness, length, and weight). QTL analysis via simple interval mapping detected 18 QTLs for the 3 root traits, including 7 QTLs for taproot thickness, 5 QTLs for taproot length, and 6 QTLs for taproot weight. Individually, the QTLs accounted for 8.4–27.4% of the phenotypic variation. The 2 major QTLs,qTRT4b for taproot thickness andqTRW4 for taproot weight, explained 27.4% and 24.8% of the total phenotypic variance, respectively. The QTLs for root traits, firstly detected inBrassica crops, may provide a basis for marker-assisted selection to improve productivity in root-crop breeding.

Abstract:Flowering time adaptation is a major breeding goal in the allopolyploid species Brassica napus. To investigate the genetic architecture of flowering time, a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of flowering time was conducted with a diversity panel comprising 523 B. napus cultivars and inbred lines grown in eight different environments. Genotyping was performed with a Brassica 60K Illumina Infinium SNP array. A total of 41 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) distributed on 14 chromosomes were found to be associated with flowering time, and 12 SNPs located in the confidence intervals of quantitative trait loci (QTL) identified in previous researches based on linkage analyses. Twenty-five candidate genes were orthologous to Arabidopsis thaliana flowering genes. To further our understanding of the genetic factors influencing flowering time in different environments, GWAS was performed on two derived traits, environment sensitivity and temperature sensitivity. The most significant SNPs were found near Bn-scaff_16362_1-p380982, just 13 kb away from BnaC09g41990D, which is orthologous to A. thaliana CONSTANS (CO), an important gene in the photoperiod flowering pathway. These results provide new insights into the genetic control of flowering time in B. napus and indicate that GWAS is an effective method by which to reveal natural variations of complex traits in B. napus.
Integrated multi-locus genome-wide association studies and transcriptome analysis for seed yield and yield-related traits in Brassica napus

Abstract:Rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.), the third largest oil crop, is an important source of vegetable oil and biofuel for the world. Although the breeding and yield has been improved, rapeseed still has the lowest yield compared with other major crops. Thus, increasing rapeseed yield is essential for the high demand of vegetable oil and high-quality protein for live stocks. Silique number per plant (SN), seed per pod (SP), and 1000-seed weight (SW) are the three important factors for seed yield in rapeseed. Some yield-related traits, including plant height (PH), flowering time (FT), primary branch number (BN) and silique number per inflorescence (SI) also affect the yield per plant (YP). Using six multi-locus genome-wide association study (ML-GWAS) approaches, a total of 908 yield-related quantitative trait nucleotides (QTNs) were identified in a panel consisting of 403 rapeseed core accessions based on whole-genome sequencing. Integration of ML-GWAS with transcriptome analysis, 79 candidate genes, including BnaA09g39790D ( RNA helicase ), BnaA09g39950D ( Lipase ) and BnaC09g25980D ( SWEET7 ), were further identified and twelve genes were validated by qRT-PCRs to affect the SW or SP in rapeseed. The distribution of superior alleles from nineteen stable QTNs in 20 elite rapeseed accessions suggested that the high-yielding accessions contained more superior alleles. These results would contribute to a further understanding of the genetic basis of yield-related traits and could be used for crop improvement in B. napus .

Comprehensive Morphological and Molecular Insights into Drought Tolerance Variation at Germination Stage in Brassica Napus Accessions

Abstract:Drought constitutes a noteworthy abiotic stressor, detrimentally impacting seed germination, plant development, and agricultural yield. In response to the threats imposed by climate change and water paucity, this study examined the morphological divergence and genetic governance of drought resilience traits at the germination stage in 196 rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) lines under both normal (0 MPa) and drought-induced stress (−0.8 MPa) scenarios. Our study showed that the composite drought tolerance D value is a reliable index for identifying drought resilience. Through a genome-wide association study (GWAS), we uncovered 37 significant SNP loci and 136 putative genes linked to drought tolerance based on the D value. A key discovery included the gene BnaA01g29390D (BnNCED3), encoding 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase, which exhibited significantly heightened expression levels in drought-resistant accessions (p < 0.01), underscoring its potential as a positive drought stress regulator and a suitable candidate for genetically enhancing drought resilience. Moreover, we pinpointed four stress-reactive transcription factors (BnaA07g26740D, BnaA07g26870D, BnaA07g26910D, and BnaA07g26980D), two E3 ubiquitin-protein ligases (BnaA05g22900D and BnaC06g28950D), two enzymes (BnaA01g29390D and BnaA03g48550D), and two photosystem-associated proteins (BnaA05g22950D and BnaC06g28840D) as vital components in drought response mechanisms. The construction of a regulatory network reveals an ABA-dependent pathway (NCED3/RGLG5/IDD14) that contributes to drought tolerance in rapeseed seedlings, alongside the involvement of a drought avoidance strategy (APRR6/PHYB). The SNPs and genes unveiled in this study offer a substantial theoretical foundation for subsequent investigations targeting genetic improvement for drought resilience during seed germination in rapeseed.

Abstract:Ten monoclonal anti-idiotypic antibodies (mAB2s) were obtained from fusions of myeloma cells, X63/Ag8.653, and splenocytes from mice immunized with one of two monoclonal kinin antibodies (mAB1s). The interactions of these mAB2s, with four different mAB1s, which have similar kinin binding specificities, was examined. Five of the ten mAB2s cross-reacted with similar affinities, with all four mAB1s. In addition, these five mAB2s were able to inhibit biotinylated-kallidin binding to the mAB1s. This indicated that these mAB2s interact with the mAB1s at, or near, their ligand binding sites. These immunological results are consistent with these five mAB2s being "internal image" beta type anti-idiotypic antibodies.

Abstract:BackgroundOptimum flowering time is a key agronomic trait in Brassica napus. To investigate the genetic architecture and genetic regulation of flowering time in this important crop, we conducted quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis of flowering time in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population, including lines with extreme differences in flowering time, in six environments, along with RNA-Seq analysis.ResultsWe detected 27 QTLs distributed on eight chromosomes among six environments, including one major QTL on chromosome C02 that explained 11–25% of the phenotypic variation and was stably detected in all six environments. RNA-Seq analysis revealed 105 flowering time-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) that play roles in the circadian clock/photoperiod, autonomous pathway, and hormone and vernalization pathways. We focused on DEGs related to the regulation of flowering time, especially DEGs in QTL regions.ConclusionsWe identified 45 flowering time-related genes in these QTL regions, eight of which are DEGs, including key flowering time genes PSEUDO RESPONSE REGULATOR 7 (PRR7) and FY (located in a major QTL region on C02). These findings provide insights into the genetic architecture of flowering time in B. napus.

Abstract:Plants rely on root systems for nutrient uptake from soils. Marker-assisted selection helps breeders to select desirable root traits for effective nutrient uptake. Here, 12 root and biomass traits were investigated at the seedling stage under low nitrogen (LN), low phosphorus (LP), and low potassium (LK) conditions, respectively, in a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population, which was generated from Brassica napus L. Zhongshuang11 and 4D122 with significant differences in root traits and nutrient efficiency. Significant differences for all the investigated traits were observed among RILs, with high heritabilities (0.43-0.74) and high correlations between the different treatments. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping identified 57, 27, and 36 loci, explaining 4.1-10.9, 4.6-10.8, and 4.9-17.4% phenotypic variances under LN, LP, and LK, respectively. Through QTL-meta analysis, these loci were integrated into 18 significant QTL clusters. Four major QTL clusters involved 25 QTLs that could be repeatedly detected and explained more than 10% phenotypic variances, including two NPK-common and two specific QTL clusters (K and NK-specific), indicating their critical role in cooperative nutrients uptake of N, P, and K. Moreover, 264 genes within the four major QTL clusters having high expressions in roots and SNP/InDel variations between two parents were identified as potential candidate genes. Thirty-eight of them have been reported to be associated with root growth and development and/or nutrient stress tolerance. These key loci and candidate genes lay the foundation for deeper dissection of the NPK starvation response mechanisms in B. napus.

Abstract:Abstract Background In terms of global demand, rapeseed is the third-largest oilseed crop after soybeans and palm, which produces vegetable oil for human consumption and biofuel for industrial production. Roots are vital organs for plant to absorb water and attain mineral nutrients, thus they are of great importance to plant productivity. However, the genetic mechanisms regulating root development in rapeseed remain unclear. In the present study, seven root-related traits and shoot biomass traits in 280 Brassica napus accessions at five continuous vegetative stages were measured to establish the genetic basis of root growth in rapeseed. Results The persistent and stage-specific genetic mechanisms were revealed by root dynamic analysis. Sixteen persistent and 32 stage-specific quantitative trait loci (QTL) clusters were identified through genome-wide association study (GWAS). Root samples with contrasting (slow and fast) growth rates throughout the investigated stages and those with obvious stage-specific changes in growth rates were subjected to transcriptome analysis. A total of 367 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) with persistent differential expressions throughout root development were identified, and these DEGs were significantly enriched in GO terms, such as energy metabolism and response to biotic or abiotic stress. Totally, 485 stage-specific DEGs with different expressions at specific stage were identified, and these DEGs were enriched in GO terms, such as nitrogen metabolism. Four candidate genes were identified as key persistent genetic factors and eight as stage-specific ones by integrating GWAS, weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), and differential expression analysis. These candidate genes were speculated to regulate root system development, and they were less than 100 kb away from peak SNPs of QTL clusters. The homologs of three genes ( BnaA03g52990D , BnaA06g37280D, and BnaA09g07580D ) out of 12 candidate genes have been reported to regulate root development in previous studies. Conclusions Sixteen QTL clusters and four candidate genes controlling persistently root development, and 32 QTL clusters and eight candidate genes stage-specifically regulating root growth in rapeseed were detected in this study. Our results provide new insights into the temporal genetic mechanisms of root growth by identifying key candidate QTL/genes in rapeseed.

Abstract:Plant height (PH), branch initiation height (BIH), and stem diameter (SD) are three stem-related traits that play crucial roles in plant architecture and lodging resistance. Herein, we show one doubled haploid (DH) population obtained from a cross between Y689 (one Capsella bursa-pastoris derived Brassica napus intertribal introgression) and Westar (B. napus cultivar) that these traits were significantly positively correlated with one another and with flowering time (FT). Based on a high-density SNP map, a total of 102 additive quantitative trait loci (QTL) were identified across six environments. Seventy-two consensus QTL and 49 unique QTL were identified using a two-round strategy of QTL meta-analysis. Notably, a total of 19 major QTL, including 11 novel ones, were detected for these traits, which comprised two QTL clusters on chromosomes A02 and A07. Conditional QTL mapping was performed to preliminarily evaluate the genetic basis (pleiotropy or tight linkage) of the co-localized QTL. In addition, QTL by environment interactions (QEI) mapping was performed to verify the additive QTL and estimate the QEI effect. In the genomic regions of all major QTL, orthologs of the genes involved in phytohormone biosynthesis, phytohormone signaling, flower development, and cell differentiation in Arabidopsis were proposed as candidate genes. Of these, BnaA02g02560, an ortholog of Arabidopsis GASA4, was suggested as a candidate gene for PH, SD, and FT; and BnaA02g08490, an ortholog of Arabidopsis GNL, was associated with PH, BIH and FT. These results provide useful information for further genetic studies on stem-related traits and plant growth adaptation.

Abstract:Leaf angle (LA) is an important trait of plant architecture, and individuals with narrow LA can better capture canopy light under high-density planting, which is beneficial for increasing the overall yield per unit area. To study the genetic basis and molecular regulation mechanism of leaf angle in rapeseed, we carried out a series of experiments. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping was performed using the RIL population, and seven QTLs were identified. Transcriptome analysis showed that the cell wall formation/biogenesis processes and biosynthesis/metabolism of cell wall components were the most enrichment classes. Most differentially expressed genes (DEGs) involved in the synthesis of lignin, xylan, and cellulose showed down-regulated expression in narrow leaf material. Microscopic analysis suggested that the cell size affected by the cell wall in the junction area of the stem and petiole was the main factor in leaf petiole angle (LPA) differences. Combining QTL mapping and RNA sequencing, five promising candidate genes BnaA01G0125600ZS, BnaA01G0135700ZS, BnaA01G0154600ZS, BnaA10G0154200ZS, and BnaC03G0294200ZS were identified in rapeseed, and most of them were involved in cell wall biogenesis and the synthesis/metabolism of cell wall components. The results of QTL, transcriptome analysis, and cytological analysis were highly consistent, collectively revealing that genes related to cell wall function played a crucial role in regulating the LA trait in rapeseed. The study provides further insights into LA traits, and the discovery of new QTLs and candidate genes is highly beneficial for genetic improvement.
