Abstract:Long-term cycling stability is an important criterion and big challenge for pseudocapacitive materials. Ultra-stable manganese doped Co3O4 mesoporous nanoneedles were synthesized via one-step hydrothermal reaction followed by annealing grown on nickel foam (noted as MnxCoyO/NF, x + y = 2.25) for supercapacitors. The Mn doping in Co3O4 was confirmed by several techniques. Among various MnxCoyO/NF electrodes, the Mn1.5Co0.75O/NF demonstrated the superior electrochemical performance, with an excellent cycling stability of 104% capacitance retention after 10 000 charge-discharge cycles at 6 A g(-1), as well as a good capability (668.4 F g(-1) at 1 A g(-1 )compared to that of undoped Co3O4 which is 201.3 F g(-1)). Moreover, the assembled asymmetric supercapacitor based on Mn1.5Co0.75O/NF//graphene performs a high energy density of 25.88 Wh kg(-1) (at 359.5 W kg(-1)) and a high power density of 14.7 kW kg(-1) (at 10.63 Wh kg(-1)). The improved electrochemical properties are mainly owing to the enhanced intrinsic conductivity and electrochemical activity of Co3O4 after doped with appropriate Mn concentration. The three-dimensional nanostructure of mesoporous nanoneedle array grown on NF also provides short ion diffusion path and large active surface areas, contributing to the high rate performance and high energy density. This study may offer a new approach to fabricate the unique 3D nanostructured electrode materials based on doped metal oxides for supercapacitors with long-term cycling stability and high energy density.
Mn0.5co2.5o4 Nanofibers Sandwiched in Graphene Sheets for Efficient Supercapacitor Electrode Materials

Abstract:Self-assembled manganese cobalt oxide (Mn0.5Co2.5O4) nanofibers sandwiched in graphene sheets (Mn0.5Co2.5O4@G) are successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal treatment and annealing process. Owning to the unique sandwich-like structures, rich active sites, and boosted electrical conductivity, Mn0.5Co2.5O4@G composite demonstrates superior electrochemical performance for potential supercapacitors. In a three-electrode system, it exhibits excellent cycling stability with a specific capacitance retention of 93.8% after 10 000 cycles at a current density of 10 A g(-1,) and achieves specific capacitances of 617 and 434 F g(-1) at the ultrahigh current densities of 30 and 40 A g(-1), respectively. For an asymmetric supercapacitor of Mn0.5Co2.5O4@G/AC, high energy densities of 36.8 and 13.6 W h kg(-1) are also achieved at power densities of 147.3 and 3755.8 W kg(-1), respectively. It is believed that the synthesized Mn0.5Co2.5O4@G composite can be a promising electrode material for high-performance supercapacitors, and the present synthetic strategy can be further extended for designing many other functional composites with desirable nanostructures and performance.
Boosting the Electrochemical Storage Properties of Co3O4 Nanowires by the Mn Doping Strategy with Appropriate Mn Doping Concentrations

Abstract:High specific capacitance, high energy density, and high power density have always been important directions for the improvement of electrode materials for supercapacitors. In this paper, Co3O4 nanowire arrays with various Mn doping concentrations (Mn:Co molar ratio = 1:11, 1:5, 1:2) directly grown on nickel foam (NF) were prepared by a simple hydrothermal method and annealing process. The influence of Mn doping on the morphology, structure, and electrochemical behaviors of Co3O4 was investigated. The results show that partial substitution of Co ions with Mn ions in the spinel structure does not change the nanowire morphology of pure Co3O4 but increases the lattice parameter and decreases the crystallinity of cobalt oxide. Electrochemical measurements showed that Mn doping in Co3O4 could effectively enhance the redox activity, especially Co3O4 with a Mn doping ratio of 1:5, which exhibits the most excellent electrochemical performance, with the maximum specific capacitance of 1210.8 F·g-1 at 1 A·g-1 and a rate capability of 33.0% at 30 A·g-1. The asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) device assembled with the optimal Mn-Co3O4 (1:5) and activated carbon (AC) electrode performs a high specific capacitance of 105.8 F·g-1, a high energy density of 33 Wh·kg-1 at a power density of 748.1 W·kg-1, and a capacitance retention of 60.2% after 5000 cycles. This work indicates that an appropriate Mn doping concentration in the Co3O4 lattice structure will have great potential in rationalizing the design of spinel oxides for efficient electrochemical performance.
Unlocking the optimum supercapacitance of Co3O4 by reducing the Co valence state via Mn doping

Abstract:Trivalent Co in Co3O4 electrodes cannot efficiently contribute to a high capacitance based on the redox reaction between Co3O4 and CoOOH in alkaline electrolytes; In contrast, increasing the content of divalent Co can enhance the capacitance. Herein, we demonstrate that doping Mn into Co3O4 increased the content of divalent Co increases, which was accompanied by induced lattice distortion and the formation of oxygen defects. As a result, our designed Mn-doped Co3O4 electrodes were unlocked with optimum electrochemical storage performance. For instance, the (Mn0.75Co2.25O4) electrode achieved a high specific capacity of 164.44 mAh/g and outstanding cyclic stability with 96% capacity retention at a current density of 4 A/g after 3000 cycles.

Abstract:The supercapacitive properties of manganese oxides (MnOx) are strongly affected by their crystal structure. Nevertheless, the relationship between the crystal structure and supercapacitive performance of MnOx is elusive. Herein, a temperature-controlled fabrication method was developed to achieve MnO2, Mn3O4, MnO and Mn2O3 microspheres with various crystal structure as electrode materials tunable for supercapacitors. The detailed material and electrochemical characterizations revealed the structure-activity relationship of MnOx microspheres by systematically investigating the effect of valence state, specific surface area, conductivity and morphology on supercapacitive performance. Among these MnOx materials, nanoneedle-like MnO2 delivered a relatively high specific capacitance of 274.1 F/g at 1 A/g due to a high Mn valence state of +4, a large specific surface area of 113.4 m2/g and a desirable electronic conductivity of 1.73 × 10-5 S/cm. Furthermore, MnO2 presented a remarkable cycle stability with 115% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles owing to the enhancement of wettability. This work not only provides a facile strategy to modulate MnOx crystal structure, but also offers a deep understanding of structure-dependent supercapacitive performance of MnOx.

Abstract:Adjusting the microstructure is an available strategy to obtain high-performance electrode materials. Herein, we propose a promising and simple hydrothermal method to prepare Co3O4 with improved electrochemical performance by adjusting its microstructure. Co3O4 with different morphologies in the form of band-like, chrysanthemum-like and feather-like can be easily obtained by adjusting the amount of urea in solutions. After analysis, the band-like and feather-like Co3O4 are dominated by surface-control during the oxidation reaction process, while chrysanthemum-like Co3O4 is dominated by diffusion-control during the oxidation reaction process. The experimental results show that the chrysanthemum-like structure of Co3O4 composed of nanowires can be obtained when urea addition is 7 mmol, and it exhibits exciting specific capacity (122.3 mAh g−1 at 1 A/g) and higher rate capability (70% at 20 A/g). Surprisingly, the specific capacity is still 100% of the initial value after 3000 cycles. The asymmetric supercapacitor assembled with activated carbon as anode and Co3O4 as cathode outputs high specific energy (35.3 Wh/kg at 788.8 W/Kg), good cycle stability (capacity retention rate of 82.6% after 10,000 cycles) and excellent coulombic efficiency. These results fully demonstrate that Co3O4 prepared in this work has great potential as an energy storage electrode material.

Abstract:Supercapacitive performance of Co3O4 and Co3−XNiXO4 granular nanorods in three electrode and two electrode configurations. Herein, cost‐effective and highly efficient Co3−XNiXO4 electrodes with various Ni concentrations (X = 0.1 to 0.5) are synthesized for supercapacitors. Ni‐doping effects are elucidated by various structural, morphological, and spectroscopic characterizations. The electrochemical studies show a ≈2‐fold increase in the specific capacitance for X = 0.5 when compared to its pristine counterpart. With varying concentrations of Ni, the specific capacitance of Co3O4, Co3−0.2Ni0.2O4, Co3−0.5Ni0.5O4 nanorods exhibits 473, 657, and 892 Fg−1 at a current density of 1 Ag−1 with a capacitance retention rate of 94%, 91%, and 93%, respectively, up to 8000 cycles. Significant enhancement in specific capacitance without compromising the cycling stability is due to the low charge transfer and internal resistances. Symmetric and asymmetric supercapacitors are fabricated using the sample with maximum performance, i.e., X = 0.5. The symmetric supercapacitor exhibits a specific capacitance of 222 Fg−1 at 1 Ag−1 and a capacitance retention of 89.3% over 1000 cycles at 5 Ag−1. For the asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) fabrication, Co3Ni0.5O4 and activated carbon are used as positive and negative electrodes, respectively. The ASC device shows an excellent energy density of 39.4 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 754.8 Wh kg−1 with a retention rate of 98.4%.

Abstract:Controlling the morphology and structure of nanomaterials is of great importance for enhancing the electrochemical properties. In the paper, Mn3O4-Fe3O4@C hybrids with different architectures were synthesized by incubation of electrospun FeOx-containing carbon fiber (Fe-CNF) in KMnO4 solution followed by annealing. The presence of FeOx on the CNF plays a vital role in determining the morphology and structure of the final hybrids, and the Mn3O4-Fe3O4@C hybrids with half-tube, tube and oolite-filled fibers are formed conveniently by tuning Fe content in the carbon fiber precursor. The good conductivity of fiber and various redox states of Mn and Fe afford the facile charge transfer and excellent reversible redox properties, thus enhancing the capacitor performance. The oolite-filled Mn3O4-Fe3O4@C with tubular structure exhibited a high specific capacitance of 178 F g-1 at a discharge rate of 1 A g-1. This capacitor electrode has an excellent cyclic stability with 95% capacitance retention after 1000 cycles at 3 A g-1. This work provides a very simple strategy to tune the unique nanostructures of metal oxide on Fe-CNF for high-performance supercapacitor application in the future.

Abstract:Transition-metal oxides holds great promise for high-performance supercapacitors, but even state-of-the-art ones show practical capacitances far below their theoretical values and deliver much lower power densities than carbon-based materials. Herein, we report the rational design and preparation of novel Mn3O4/MnO2 hier-archical nanoarchitectures/N-doped graphene (NG) composites as an advanced supercapacitors electrode material. The Mn3O4/MnO2 particles consist of monolayer standing MnO2-nanosheet covered Mn3O4 octahedrons; they are closely anchored, well dispersed in the NG networks by the modulation of Zeta potential, which is an effective technique for developing suchlike hybrid structures. The 3D conductive network of NG providing an open pathway for electron/ion transport together with close touching Mn3O4/MnO2 assure both enhanced conductivity and strong component synergy, thus promotes the electrode reaction kinetics. The Mn3O4/MnO(2)NG exhibits a high specific capacitance of 739 Fg(-1) at 0.5 Ag-1, excellent rate capability, and superior stability of 93.4% capacitance retention after 10000 cycles. The novel Mn3O4/MnO2-NG composite is very promising as an advanced electrode material for high energy- and power-density electrochemical storage devices.

Abstract:In this study, Ni, Co and Mn metal-organic frameworks (MOFs, Ni 2 Co 1-X Mn X -MOFs-S, X = 0, 0.25, 0.5) nanorods are successfully obtained by a one-step hydrothermal method under the aid of C 12 H 25 SO 4 Na (SDS). The morphology and the size of the nanorods can be controlled by changing the doping method and content of Mn, resulting in the different electrochemical performances. The study proves that SDS has a great influence on the capacitance of the ternary metal NiCoMn-MOFs. Research results show that the optimized Ni 2 Co 0.75 Mn 0.25 -MOFs-S displays a capacitance of 1428 F·g −1 at current density of 1 A·g −1 . Meanwhile, controlling partial substitution of Mn is beneficial to improve the stability of MOFs, such as the charge-discharge cycle stability of Ni 2 Co 0.75 Mn 0.25 -MOFs-S is high to 83.5 % after 3000 cycles. The energy density of the asymmetric supercapacitor (Ni 2 Co 0.75 Mn 0.25 -MOFs-S//AC) is 38.10 Wh·kg −1 at a power density of 884.38 W·kg −1 . In addition, the act of Mn on improving material stability is studied.

Abstract:MXene is an ideal candidate material for supercapacitor electrode due to their unique accordion-like structure, large specific surface area, remarkable conductivity and excellent chemical stability. Due to the large surface energy between layers, it is easy to stack between layers of MXene, and the energy storage field between the layers cannot be fully utilized. Therefore, increasing the interlayer spacing of MXene is a research focus to enhance electrochemical performance. The spinel ternary metal oxide MnCo2O4 have been extensively investigated as electrode materials due to low-cost and highly theoretical capacitances. Moreover, manganese ions can improve the rate performance of the material, and cobalt ions have a higher oxidation potential. Herein, the interlayer spacing of MXene is increased by introducing nano-scale MnCo2O4 particles. The as-prepared optimal electrode material exhibits a specific capacity of 806.7 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1, and excellent cycle stability. The asymmetric supercapacitor device is assembled by the obtained electrode as the positive electrode and activated carbon as the negative electrode, which the device can provide energy density of 26.8 Wh kg−1 at power density of 2.88 kW kg−1 with excellent cycle stability (93.8% capacity retention after 5000 cycles at a current density of 5 A g−1). The research proposes a simple hydrothermal method was used to prepare a high-performance MXene-based supercapacitor.

Abstract:Although cobalt oxides show great promise as supercapacitor electrode materials, their slow kinetics and low conductivity make them unsuitable for widespread application. We developed Ni and Cu-doped Co 3 O 4 nanoparticles (NPs) via a simple chemical co-precipitation method without the aid of a surfactant. The samples were analyzed for their composition, function group, band gap, structure/morphology, thermal property, surface area and electrochemical property using X-ray diffraction (XRD), ICP-OES, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and/or Differential thermal analysis (DTA), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET), and Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS), Cyclic voltammetry (CV), respectively. Notably, for the prepared sample, the addition of Cu to Co 3 O 4 NPs results in a 11.5-fold increase in specific surface area (573.78 m 2 g −1 ) and a decrease in charge transfer resistance. As a result, the Ni doped Co 3 O 4 electrode exhibits a high specific capacitance of 749 F g −1 , 1.75 times greater than the pristine Co 3 O 4 electrode's 426 F g −1 . The electrode's enhanced surface area and electronic conductivity are credited with the significant improvement in electrochemical performance. The produced Ni doped Co 3 O 4 electrode has the potential to be employed in supercapacitor systems, as the obtained findings amply demonstrated.

Abstract:AbstractIn this work, a one-step hydrothermal method is used to synthesize Ni-doped Mn-based organic framework material (Ni-doped Mn-MOF) on NF with 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic acid (NTC) as ligand. Ni doping results in a more unique structure combining nanoblocks and nanosheets, which facilitates the contact between active sites and electrolyte ions and enhances electrochemical performance. Acting as the electrode material of supercapacitors, Ni-doped Mn-MOF shows a specific capacity of 779.6 C g−1 and a specific capacitance of 1676.6 F g−1 at 1 A g−1. Besides, the retention rate reaches as high as 75.9% after 10,000 cycles at 10 A g−1. Meanwhile, the as-prepared Ni-doped Mn-MOF//AC device shows a high specific capacitance of 361 C g−1 (225.6 F g−1) at 8 A g−1. By the way, the device exhibits an energy density of 74.75 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 7985.16 W kg−1 with 70.6% specific capacitance retention after 10,000 consecutive charge–discharge cycles at 10 A g−1. The ease of composite manufacturing demonstrates that Ni-doped Mn-MOF has potential applications as electrode materials for supercapacitor.

Abstract:Transition metal molybdates are widely used as electrode materials for supercapacitors due to their high theoretical specific capacitance and excellent electrochemical activity. It is an effective strategy to improve the electrochemical performance by reasonably designing electrode materials. Herein, we prepared several Ni 1- x Co x MoO 4 · n H 2 O nanostructures through facile hydrothermal strategies. Benefiting from the synergistic effects between Ni and Co elements, the obtained electrode materials delivered a specific capacitance of 1390 F g −1 at 1 A g −1 . The as-assembled device shows an energy density of 72.45 W h kg −1 at a power density of 2688.8 W kg −1 . It also presents excellent cycling and mechanical stability after many times of charging and discharging processes and bending.

Abstract:To further enhance the electrochemical performance of electrochemical supercapacitors (ESCs), we have prepared Co3O4 nanomaterials with a foam substrate using a simple one-step hydrothermal method. The morphological modulation of Co3O4 nanomaterial is accomplished by nickel atoms and fluorine ions in the feedstock. Three samples of Co3O4 porous nano microspheres (PNS), Co3O4 nanoflower (NFAS), and Co3O4 nanowire arrays (NWAS), are prepared by the controlled variable method. Their unique nanostructures effectively increase the specific surface area of the material and shorten the ion conduction path, ultimately achieving high capacity and extremely long cycle stability. The results show that the Co3O4 NWAS has the highest specific capacity (525.5 F g−1 at a current density of 1 A g−1) and good cycling stability (107% capacity retention for 10,000 cycles at a current density of 10 A g−1). In addition, the Co3O4 NWAS provides an energy density of 21.4 W h kg−1 at a power density of 4.87 kW kg−1 (15 A g−1). These results provide ample evidence that the Co3O4 prepared in this work has the potential to become a commercial ESC electrode material.

Abstract:The metal–organic framework (MOF) materials with significant steadiness and a large specific surface area have been popular with supercapacitor material in recent years. However, its application in supercapacitors is restricted due to the low specific capacitance and poor conductivity. Herein, sulfur compounds with a high theoretical specific capacitance and highly conductive titanium nitride (TiN) were introduced into Co-based metal–organic frameworks/nickel foam (Co-MOF/NF) through a two-step hydrothermal technique (nickel sulfide/titanium nitride@ Co-based metal–organic frameworks/nickel foam). In detail, the fabricated nickel sulfide/titanium nitride@Co-based metal–organic frameworks/nickel foam (Ni3S2/TiN@Co-MOF/NF) electrode material exhibits a markedly high specific capacitance (2648.8 F g−1) at 1 A g−1, compared with that (770 F g−1) of the precursor Co-MOF/NF. And its mass specific capacitance is retained 88.3% (8 A g−1) after 5000 cycles. Furthermore, a non-symmetrical supercapacitor (ASC) composed of Ni3S2/TiN@Co-MOF/NF and AC exhibits excellent power density (801.8 W kg−1) and energy density (97.8 W h kg−1). Therefore, Ni3S2/TiN@Co-MOF/NF with excellent electrochemical properties and stability provides new ideas for the development of excellent supercapacitor electrode materials.

Interior and Exterior Decoration of Transition Metal Oxide Through Cu0/Cu+ Co-Doping Strategy for High-Performance Supercapacitor

Abstract:Abstract Although CoO is a promising electrode material for supercapacitors due to its high theoretical capacitance, the practical applications still suffering from inferior electrochemical activity owing to its low electrical conductivity, poor structural stability and inefficient nanostructure. Herein, we report a novel Cu 0 /Cu + co-doped CoO composite with adjustable metallic Cu 0 and ion Cu + via a facile strategy. Through interior (Cu + ) and exterior (Cu 0 ) decoration of CoO, the electrochemical performance of CoO electrode has been significantly improved due to both the beneficial flower-like nanostructure and the synergetic effect of Cu 0 /Cu + co-doping, which results in a significantly enhanced specific capacitance (695 F g −1 at 1 A g −1 ) and high cyclic stability (93.4% retention over 10,000 cycles) than pristine CoO. Furthermore, this co-doping strategy is also applicable to other transition metal oxide (NiO) with enhanced electrochemical performance. In addition, an asymmetric hybrid supercapacitor was assembled using the Cu 0 /Cu + co-doped CoO electrode and active carbon, which delivers a remarkable maximal energy density (35 Wh kg −1 ), exceptional power density (16 kW kg −1 ) and ultralong cycle life (91.5% retention over 10,000 cycles). Theoretical calculations further verify that the co-doping of Cu 0 /Cu + can tune the electronic structure of CoO and improve the conductivity and electron transport. This study demonstrates a facile and favorable strategy to enhance the electrochemical performance of transition metal oxide electrode materials.

Abstract:Heteroatomic doping has a significant effect on improving the electrochemical energy storage of metal oxide electrode materials and has been applied in the field of supercapacitors. However, there are few reports on the co-doping of anions and cations into transition metal oxides as the electrode materials in supercapacitors. Herein, the Mo, S co-doped CoNiO2 electrode material with tremella-like nano-structures was successfully prepared on nickel foam (denoted as NiCoMoO-S@NF) via two-step hydrothermal procedures and UV-light irradiation. The co-doping of Mo and S gives the CoNiO2 material a higher specific surface area of 113.98 m2 g-1, abundant active site, and improved electrical conductivity. The obtained NiCoMoO-S@NF shows a high specific capacity of 999.1C g-1 at a current density of 1 A g-1. Moreover, the hybrid supercapacitor device assembled by NiCoMoO-S@NF and rGO@NF can obtain a great energy density of 38.8 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 2880 W kg-1 and shows good cycling stability of 71.6 % capacity retention after 6500 cycles, indicating the excellent super -capacitive properties of NiCoMoO-S@NF and its potential application in supercapacitors.

Abstract:Advancing periodontitis 患者に対する外科処置後のポケット内細菌叢の検索を行った。外科処置後の Plaque index, Gingival index および Pocket depth の平均値はそれぞれ, 0.42, 0.06, 2.4mmであった。分離菌のうち, 外科処置後の全分離菌に対する偏性嫌気性菌の比率は75%であり, Deep scaling 後 (77.6%) との間に大きな相違は認められなかった。しかし, Deep scaling 後の菌叢と異なり, グラム陽性桿菌の分離比率が顕著に高い値を示した (偏性嫌気性菌, 40.9%; 通性嫌気性菌, 20.5%)。グラム陽性菌の中では, Actinomyces (20.5%) と Eubacterium (19.1%) が優勢であり, グラム陽性球菌の中では, Peptococcus の分離比率が高い値を示した。グラム陰性菌では, Bacteroides が高率 (15.9%) に分離された。
Ni3S4 nanoparticle decorated Mn doped Co(OH)2 nanosheets as electrodes of hybrid supercapacitors with high energy density and long-term cycle stability

Abstract:Due to their outstanding electrochemical properties, transition metal sulfides and hydroxides are often used as high-performance electrode materials for supercapacitors. The Mn-doped Co(OH)2/Ni3S4 electrode material in this study, due to the synergistic reaction mechanism among Co(OH)2 and Ni3S4 and the increased active sites by the addition of Mn, the Mn-Co(OH)2/Ni3S4 exhibits excellent electrochemical property. The electrochemical performance of the Mn-Co(OH)2/Ni3S4 hybrid electrode was measured in an electrode cell made of 2 M KOH solution, showing a superior specific capacitance of 1107.0 C g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, in addition to the excellent capacity retention rate at 10 A g−1 is 72.7 % of that at 1 A g−1. The performance of the hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) assembled with Mn-Co(OH)2/Ni3S4 compound and activated carbon (AC) was measured under the same electrolyte conditions, anwell-specificific capacity (157.2 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1) was achieved, along with superior long-term stable charge/discharge capability (88.9 % of the original specific capacity after 35,000 cycles at 8 A g−1). Meanwhile, the most practical application is when the power density of 410.4 W kg−1, the assembled HSC device has an energy storage capacity of 58.8 W h kg−1, revealing that the developed Mn-Co(OH)2/Ni3S4 has great application potential for supercapacitors in the future.
