Abstract:We initially proposed a facile one-step electrodeposition method utilizing Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) for the growth of NiO nanospheres (NiO-NSs) on three-dimensional nickel foam (NF) substrates. Notably, no binders, templates, or surfactants were introduced throughout the entire experimental process, ensuring the cleanliness and environmental friendliness of the synthesis process. The reaction parameters were successfully fine-tuned to achieve efficient in-situ growth, porous structure, and uniform morphology. The resulting optimized electrodes underwent characterization using diverse microscopic techniques. Subsequently, the electrochemical performance was analyzed in both half and full cell configurations. The obtained porous electrode materials in-situ grown on NFs exhibited a distinct nanosphere morphology with an average diameter of approximately 200 nm. The NiO-NSs exhibited satisfactory electrochemical performance in three-electrode system, demonstrated an enhanced specific capacitance of 438.2C g-1 (876.4 F g-1) at 1 A g-1, highlighting their exceptional electrochemical performance. Furthermore, the assembled supercapacitor with NiO-NSs and activated carbon yielded a significantly high energy density of 37.71 Wh kg-1 and a power density of 246.38 W kg-1 at 1 A g-1. More significantly, the outstanding capacity retention was 81.27 % after 45,000 continuous GCD cycles. This study offered novel insight into a facile synthesis method, utilizing CV electrodeposition for designing highperformance metal oxide or hydroxide materials, ultimately boosting electrochemical performance.
