Abstract:Background: A scoping review found that most studies on women's health in multiple sclerosis (MS) focused on pregnancy, fetal/neonatal outcomes and sexual dysfunction. Few studies addressed menopause, contraception, gynecologic cancers/cancer screening. However, the perceived relative importance of these knowledge gaps to people living with MS and other partners is unknown. We engaged a range of partners, including people living with MS, health care providers, researchers, and patient advocacy groups, to set priorities for future research in women's health in MS. Methods: We employed a three-step global engagement process. First, we identified which broad research topics relevant to women's health in MS were of highest priority using two surveys. Second, we developed specific research questions within these topics using focus groups. Finally, we prioritized the research questions with a third survey. Results: Overall, 5,266 individuals responded to the initial surveys [ n = 1,430 global survey, mean (SD) age 50.0 (12.6), all continents; n = 3,836 North American Research Committee on Multiple Sclerosis survey, mean (SD) age 64.8 (9.6), United States]. Menopause, sexual dysfunction, pregnancy, gynecologic cancer/cancer screening, hormones and parenthood were identified as the most important topics. Focus groups generated 80 potential research questions related to these topics. In the final survey 712 individuals prioritized these questions. The highest priority questions in each research topic were: (i) How do perimenopause and menopause affect disease activity, course, response to disease-modifying treatment and quality of life in MS; (ii) What are the most effective strategies for managing issues around sexual intimacy, including related to low sexual desire, changes in physical function, and MS symptoms; (iii) Are there long-term effects of disease-modifying therapies on the children of persons with MS; (iv) What are the short and long-term effects of disease-modifying drugs on gynecologic cancer risk, particularly for high efficacy disease-modifying drugs and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; (v) Are there hormone related treatments that can stabilize fluctuations in MS symptoms; and (vi) How does MS fatigue impact parenting strategies. Conclusion: Priorities for research relating to women's health issues for persons with MS have been delineated using a collaborative process with key partners. Alignment of future research with these priorities should be monitored.

Abstract:Abstract Background/Introduction Cardiomyopathy affects 1 in 300 of the population and can have profound physical and psychological impacts on patients and families. There remains uncertainty around many aspects of disease management and patient needs. Research can address these uncertainties by identifying definitive treatments, optimal management strategies, and holistic support requirements. To ensure that cardiomyopathy research reflects the shared interests of patients, carers and clinicians, a leading cardiomyopathy patient charity sponsored a Research Priority Setting Partnership (PSP). Methods The Cardiomyopathy PSP was run according to the James Lind Alliance (JLA) method(1, Figure 1). Results A steering group (SG) comprised eight people with lived experience of cardiomyopathies and nine healthcare professionals (HCPs), representing the multidisciplinary team, decided on the scope and breadth of the PSP to cover cardiomyopathies and for a United Kingdom-wide survey. The initial survey was open to the cardiomyopathy community from June-August 2023 (six weeks). They were invited to submit questions that they would like answered by research. The survey was online and hard copies were also sent to peer support groups where group leaders encouraged members to complete the form during their in-person meeting. There were 1020 respondents generating just over 2000 questions. The majority of respondents (78%) were people with lived experience. The SG and an information specialist grouped submitted questions into topic headings, consolidated similar questions, removed those that were out of scope and agreed on the final list of 60 questions for the shortlisting survey. This second survey consisted of 2 steps: 1. Respondents selected from the full list of questions identified by the first survey and 2.They were then asked to choose 10 questions from their selection which were most important to them. A total of 660 responses were collected and selected questions were organised into 2 groups according to the type of respondent (those with lived experience or HCPs). Questions were weighted according to the number of times they were selected within each group and then merged into a single shortlist of 26. The final workshop was conducted on February 2, 2024 where the Top 10 Research Questions from the shortlist were agreed by a mixed group of lived experience and HCP participants (Figure 2). Conclusion A Research PSP using the JLA method facilitates the generation and prioritisation of research questions/uncertainties that address the mismatch between what researchers want to research and the practical solutions/information needed day-to-day by HCPs to give holistic care that is relevant to patients, families and carers.Fig 1James Lind Alliance MethodFig 2Top Ten Research Questions

Abstract:Aim To identify research priorities regarding the effectiveness of interventions for children and young people (CYP) with childhood neurological conditions (CNCs). These include common conditions such as epilepsies and cerebral palsy, as well as many rare conditions. Method The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and the James Lind Alliance (JLA) champion and facilitate priority setting partnerships (PSPs) between patients, caregivers, and clinicians (stakeholders) to identify the most important unanswered questions for research (uncertainties). A NIHR–JLA and British Paediatric Neurology Association collaboration used the JLA PSP methodology. This consisted of two surveys to stakeholders: survey 1 (to identify uncertainties) and survey 2 (a prioritization survey). The final top 10 priorities were agreed by consensus in a stakeholder workshop. Results One hundred and thirty‐two charities and partner organizations were invited to participate. In survey 1, 701 participants (70% non‐clinicians, including CYP and parent and caregivers) submitted 1800 uncertainties from which 44 uncertainties were identified for prioritization in survey 2; from these, 1451 participants (83% non‐clinicians) selected their top 10 priorities. An unweighted amalgamated score across participant roles was used to select 26. In the final workshop, 14 health care professionals, 11 parent and caregivers, and two CYP ranked the 26 questions to finalize the top 10 priorities. Ten top priority questions were identified regarding interventions to treat CYP with CNCs and their associated comorbidities, for example, sleep, emotional well‐being, and distressing symptoms. Interpretation The results of this study will inform research into the effectiveness of interventions for children with neurological conditions.

Abstract:Introduction James Lind Alliance (JLA) Priority Setting Partnerships (PSPs) produce 'Top 10' lists of health and care research priorities through a structured, shared decision‐making process with patients or service users, carers and health or care professionals who identify questions that are most important to them. To date, over 150 PSPs in different areas of health and care have published research priorities. Some PSPs share similar priorities, which could be combined, promoted and addressed through collaborative research to increase value and reduce research waste. Aim The aim of this study was to identify overarching themes common to JLA PSP priorities across different areas of health and care. Methods Our analysis included 'Top 10' research priorities produced by UK‐based JLA PSPs between 2016 and 2020. The priorities were coded deductively by the Health Research Classification System (HRCS) health category and research activity. We then carried out online workshops with patients, service users and carers to generate new codes not already captured by this framework. Within each code, multistakeholder inductive thematic analysis was used to identify overarching themes, defined as encompassing priorities from three or more PSPs covering two or more health categories. We used codesign methods to produce an interactive tool for end users to navigate the overarching themes. Results Five hundred and fifteen research priorities from 51 PSPs were included in our analysis. The priorities together encompassed 20 of 21 HRCS health categories, the most common being 'generic health relevance' (22%), 'mental health' (18%) and 'musculoskeletal' (14%). We identified 89 overarching themes and subthemes, which we organised into a hierarchy with seven top‐level themes: quality of life, caregivers and families, causes and prevention, screening and diagnosis, treatment and management, services and systems and social influences and impacts. Conclusion There are many overarching themes common to research priorities across multiple areas of health and care. To facilitate new research and research funding, we have developed an interactive tool to help researchers, funders and patients or service users to explore these priority topics. This is freely available to download online. Patient or Public Contribution Patients or service users and carers were involved throughout the study, including deciding the aims, designing the study, analysing priorities to identify themes, interpreting and reporting the findings.

Abstract:Background: Research on pulmonary hypertension (PH) has largely been driven by pharmaceutical companies and individual researchers. The priorities for PH research according to patients, caregivers, and clinicians have not established. Aim: To determine the top 10 priority questions for future research on PH according to patients and other key stakeholders. Methods: We conducted a Priority Setting Partnerships (PSP) for PH in Canada using the James Lind Alliance (https://www.jla.nihr.ac.uk/) methodology. A survey was distributed through Canadian patient advocacy organizations to elicit their potential questions about PH causes, diagnosis and management. These questions were verified as uncertainties after a systematic literature search. An interim prioritization survey narrowed the list of uncertainties to the top 25, which were discussed in virtual workshops in February 2022 to determine the top 10 research priorities. Results: There were 219 respondents (86% patients and caregivers, 14% clinicians) to the initial survey with 1588 in-scope proposed questions. From these, 187 summary questions were formulated. Most (n=157) were verified as uncertain. The consensus Top 10 list of uncertainties for future PH research from the virtual workshops are in the Figure . . Conclusions: We identified the top 10 researchable questions for future PH research, which may inform PH researchers and funding agencies where to focus resources.

Abstract:A boy aged eleven with a solitary chondroma of the right tibia, and angiomata of the skeletal muscle, subcutaneous tissues, and periarticular tissues of the same limb, is considered to be a case of Maffucci's syndrome (dyschondroplasia with angiomata), although there was not the severe deformity encountered in the previously reported cases. There was a secondary atrophy and adiposity of skeletal muscle, and this was attributed to anoxic effects produced by the angiomata.

Abstract:Purpose: Identify priorities for adult cerebral palsy (CP) research by engaging individuals with lived experience, clinical investigators, and community leaders. Materials and Methods: Qualitative descriptive study using iterative focus groups, followed by inductive thematic analysis. Participants included adults with CP and caregivers, clinical investigators, and community leaders in the CP and disability spaces. We explored research priorities among three research areas identified a priori: bone health, kidney health, and preventive care. Results: We conducted four focus groups (20 participants with lived experience; 10 clinical investigators; 9 community leaders). Most participants felt all topic areas were very important, though preventive care emerged as the top priority. We identified three overarching themes that cut across the various research areas discussed: patient and provider knowledge gaps; a precision medicine approach for adult CP care; and the need to address ableism. Conclusions: Adults with CP face unique healthcare needs and risks as they age, and the evidence base to guide their care lags significantly behind. Our study identified preventive care as the top research priority for the adult CP research agenda. Next steps in this line of research should focus on interventions to facilitate primary and preventive care interactions for adults with CP.

Abstract:Aims To undertake a Priority Setting Partnership (PSP), identifying the most important unanswered questions in type 1 diabetes in Ireland and the United Kingdom and to compare these to priorities identified in a 2011 PSP. Methods A steering committee (including eight individuals with lived experience/charity representatives and six clinicians) designed a survey which asked stakeholders to list three questions about type 1 diabetes. This was disseminated through social media, direct email contact, and printed posters. Following analysis, a second survey asked participants to rank these priorities in order of importance. The top questions were then carried forward to an online, 2 days final workshop where the final top 10 were ranked. Results There were 1050 responses (64% female, 78% adults living with type 1 diabetes, 9% healthcare professionals, 9% family members) to the first survey and 2937 individual questions were submitted. Sixty‐five summary questions were submitted into a second survey, completed by 497 individuals (76% adults living with type 1 diabetes, 9% healthcare professionals, and 11% family members). Nineteen questions from the interim survey progressed to a final workshop, which identified the top 10 priorities through group discussion. As in 2011, there was emphasis on psychological health, diabetes‐related complications, and hypoglycaemia. New themes prioritised included artificial intelligence and women's health. Conclusions The research priorities, which have been identified using a robust and proven methodology, highlight the key concerns of those living with type 1 diabetes, their families and representatives, as well as clinicians in Ireland and the UK.

Abstract:Objective The objective of this study is to identify the top 10 research priorities on reducing and stopping psychiatric medication that reflect the perspectives and unmet needs of three key stakeholder groups (people with lived experience, family members/carers/supporters and healthcare professionals). Methods A priority-setting partnership was conducted using the James Lind Alliance's seven-step process. This involved (1) creating an international Steering Group of key stakeholder representatives and (2) identifying potential partners; (3) gathering stakeholders' uncertainties about reducing and stopping psychiatric medication using an online survey and summarising the survey responses; (4) checking the summary questions against existing evidence and verifying uncertainties; (5) shortlisting the questions using a second online survey; (6) determining the top 10 research questions through a prioritisation workshop; and (7) disseminating the results. Results A total of 3635 questions were collected in the initial survey from 884 respondents of which 32 questions were verified as uncertainties. These questions were then ranked in a second online survey by 526 respondents and the findings discussed in a final prioritisation workshop by 30 participants to produce the final top 10 list of research questions. These questions cover a range of areas including the most effective ways of safely reducing/stopping psychiatric medication and providing support to individuals undergoing the discontinuation process, as well as the best ways to educate healthcare professionals on this topic. Conclusion The top 10 list of research priorities was produced through extensive engagement with key stakeholders and highlights important uncertainties and gaps in the existing evidence base that need to be addressed by future research.

Abstract:Significant advancements have been achieved in delineating the progress of the Global PROMS (PROMS) Initiative. The PROMS Initiative, a collaborative endeavor by the European Charcot Foundation and the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation, strives to amplify the influence of patient input on MS care and establish a cohesive perspective on Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs) for diverse stakeholders. This initiative has established an expansive, participatory governance framework launching four dedicated working groups that have made substantive contributions to research, clinical management, eHealth, and healthcare system reform. The initiative prioritizes the global integration of patient (For the purposes of the Global PROMS Initiative, the term "patient" refers to the people with the disease (aka People with Multiple Sclerosis – pwMS): any individual with lived experience of the disease. People affected by the disease/Multiple Sclerosis: any individual or group that is affected by the disease: E.g., family members, caregivers will be also engaged as the other stakeholders in the initiative). insights into the management of MS care. It merges subjective PROs with objective clinical metrics, thereby addressing the complex variability of disease presentation and progression. Following the completion of its second phase, the initiative aims to help increasing the uptake of eHealth tools and passive PROs within research and clinical settings, affirming its unwavering dedication to the progressive refinement of MS care. Looking forward, the initiative is poised to continue enhancing global surveys, rethinking to the relevant statistical approaches in clinical trials, and cultivating a unified stance among 'industry', regulatory bodies and health policy making regarding the application of PROs in MS healthcare strategies.

Abstract:Introduction: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an immune-mediated central nervous system disorder and a growing global health challenge affecting nearly 3 million people worldwide. Incidence and prevalence continue to increase with no known cause or cure. Globally governments and non-profit organizations fund research toward better understanding of and treatments for multiple sclerosis. Methods: This study identified MS research projects funded between 2021 and 2023 by government and non-profit organization sources. Projects were described by type of scientific approach, Pathways to Cure research category (i.e. Stop, Restore, End), and other key characteristics. Results: Over 2,300 MS research projects were identified through 16 non-profit MS organizations and 18 government databases. The overall global portfolio of these projects is valued at nearly one and a half billion Euros. The majority of projects were classified in the Stop category (60%). Research collaboration occurs in many forms among the research community; around 272 projects were reported to be co-funded. Conclusion: Global MS research collaboration will accelerate progress toward increased knowledge, effective treatments, improved health outcomes, and ultimately cures for MS. This landscape analysis highlights the current distribution of MS research investment between topics and begins to suggest where the MS community should focus to increase potential impact for current and future endeavors.

Abstract:The unique anatomy of the ethmoid sinuses makes it difficult to interpret "soft-tissue clouding," especially on plain films. The clinical significance of isolated or generalized soft-tissue disease within ethmoid cells is unclear, and the patterns of bone erosion or remodeling must be relied on in establishing a specific differential diagnosis. Of 400 patients studied, 186 had inflammatory disease and 214 had tumors. Squamous cell carcinomas, metastases, and a few aggressive sarcomas were found almost exclusively to have bone destruction, while 94% of the remaining neoplasms were characterized by cavity remodeling. Further differentiation was sometimes possible because of the pattern and degree of tumor enhancement. Of the neoplasms, only the minor salivary gland lesions and neuromas had nonhomogeneous enhancement. Malignant lesions cannot be diagnosed with computed tomography (CT) unless bone destruction is present. Similarly, although the significance of persistent, benign-appearing soft-tissue disease during chemotherapy is unclear, tumor must always be suspected, even after many months of a stable CT appearance.

Abstract:Community nurses deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients living outside of hospital settings and play a crucial role in meeting individual and public health needs. Research is essential in providing evidence-based care for patients; however, most community nurses are not research active, with few relevant studies and little funding for community nursing research. To address this, four National Institute for Health Research senior nurse researchers in England conducted a James Lind Alliance priority setting partnership in community nursing with the aim of raising the international profile of community nursing research through the identification of meaningful research priorities that matter to this community. Community nurses, patients, and carers were integral to the process, which aimed to identify the top ten unanswered questions to inform community nursing practice. The Priority Setting Partnership process utilised a coproduction, mixed-methods approach. It involved consultation meetings with stakeholder partners and nested quantitative surveys. The study ran from March 2020 until September 2021, and numerous unanswered evidence uncertainties were identified. The top ten priority questions included nursing and patient focussed issues, which reflect the complexity of care delivered to patients and the workforce pressures community nurses face. Findings reflect the views of community nurses, patients, and carers and highlight areas that need attention to ensure research is embedded within community nursing settings. Identification of the top ten priorities has provided an international platform for community nursing research. This must be sustained through engagement, collaboration, funding, and innovation and has widespread implications for developing the community nursing workforce and optimising the safety and quality of patient care.

It devastates lives with uncertain illness trajectories, and yet, there are many research uncertainties as there is a lack of understanding of its causes, effective treatments and management plans. We set out to identify current research priorities for people with Long COVID, carers, healthcare professionals and researchers. Methods A systematic literature review and previous Long COVID priority‐setting exercises identified three broad under‐researched areas of Long COVID research within the fields of Public Health and Health Services Research: symptoms; managing day‐to‐day life; and the emotional impact of Long COVID. We disseminated an elicitation survey that asked for research questions in these areas; responses were analysed and summarised into 42 research questions. A survey was then disseminated, asking respondents to prioritise these 42 questions. Workshops were held with people with Long COVID, carers, healthcare professionals and researchers to analyse responses and agree the top 10 priorities. Results The top priorities in order were pharmacological treatment of Long COVID; understanding the pathophysiology; nonpharmacological symptom management; improving public and professional understanding of Long COVID; understanding of the long‐term risks of Long COVID; improving financial and social supports; improving understanding of postviral syndromes; diagnostics; service redesign/pathways; and the well‐being of children with Long COVID. Conclusion Four years into the pandemic, there is an emphasis on the need for research on treatment, understanding and support for people living with Long COVID. Patient and Public Contribution People with Long COVID and carers were involved in the study design, survey design, dissemination, data analysis, interpretation and reviewing and editing the manuscript.

Abstract:Summary Introduction Regional anaesthesia provides important clinical benefits to patients but is underutilised. A barrier to widespread adoption may be the focus of regional anaesthesia research on novel techniques rather than evaluating and optimising existing approaches. Research priorities in regional anaesthesia identified by anaesthetists have been published, but the views of patients, carers and other healthcare professionals have not been considered previously. Therefore, we launched a multidisciplinary research priority setting partnership that aimed to establish key regional anaesthesia research priorities for the UK. Methods Research suggestions from key stakeholders (defined by their interaction with regional anaesthesia) were gathered using an online survey. These suggestions were analysed to identify common themes and then combined to formulate indicative research questions. After an extensive literature review, unanswered and partially answered questions were prioritised via an interim online survey and then ranked as a top 10 list during a final live virtual multidisciplinary prioritisation workshop. Results In total, 210 individuals completed the initial survey and suggested 518 research questions. Fifty‐seven indicative questions were formed, of which three were considered fully answered after literature review and one not feasible. The interim online survey received 335 responses, which identified the 24 highest priority questions from the 53 presented. At the final live prioritisation workshop, through a nominal group process, we identified the top 10 regional anaesthesia research priorities. These aligned with three broad thematic areas: pain management (two questions); patient safety (six questions); and recovery from surgery (two questions). Discussion This initiative has resulted in a list of research questions prioritised by patients, carers and a multidisciplinary group of healthcare professionals that should be used to inform and support future regional anaesthesia research in the UK.

Albumin and fibronectin protein adsorption on CO2-laser-modified biograde stainless steel

Abstract:Abstract The surface properties of a biomaterial play an essential role in protein adsorption, which in turn determines the cellular response to the adsorbed surface. In order to obtain a surface that would yield favourable protein adsorption for successful cellular response, the surface properties of a biograde stainless steel were modified by CO2 laser treatment. An investigation of the CO2-laser-modified surface properties and the effects thereof on the adsorption of human serum albumin (no-cell adhesive) and human plasma fibronectin (cell adhesive) was conducted. It was found that the thickness of the adsorbed fibronectin layer increased with increasing CO2 laser power density, while the thickness of the adsorbed albumin layer decreased with increasing CO2 laser power density. The surface roughness and wettability characteristics contributed to the observed changes in protein adsorption. The wettability characteristics of the biograde stainless steel were found to be the predominant mechanism governing the observed change in protein adsorption. Since the wettability characteristics of the biograde stainless steel can be modified in an efficient and controllable way with the CO2 laser, it is believed that this work presents a demonstrable alternative to the techniques currently available for enhancing the biocompatibility of biograde stainless steels.

Abstract:Introduction Those with severe and enduring mental ill health are at greater risk of long‐term physical health conditions and have a reduced life expectancy as a result. Multiple factors compound this health inequality, and the need for setting research priorities in this area is highlighted with physical and mental healthcare services being separate, and limited multimorbidity research. Methods The aim of this exercise was to work in partnership with healthcare professionals and carers, family, friends and individuals with lived experience of both mental and physical health conditions, to set research priorities to help people with mental health conditions to look after their physical health. The exercise was guided by the James Lind Alliance approach. For this, a steering group was set up, two surveys were completed and a final priority workshop was conducted. Results This priority setting exercise guided by people's needs and lived experience has produced a set of well‐defined research topics. Initially, 555 research questions were suggested in the first survey, which were refined to 54 questions for the second survey. A priority setting workshop was then conducted to get the final 10 priorities. Conclusions Taking these topics forward to improve services and treatment for both mental and physical ill health may in turn improve physical health and lessen the reduced life expectancy of those living with mental ill health. Patient or Public Contribution This work was completed in collaboration with people who have lived experience of mental ill health and physical health conditions, as well as carers, family and friends. Their contribution has been significant for this work from piloting surveys, amending language used and educating the researchers and contributing to this paper. The initial work was completed with a steering group and continued with surveys and workshops.

Abstract:Objectives Priority Setting Partnerships (PSP's) using the James Lind Alliance (JLA) methodology, bring together health professionals, patients and parents/carers to identify and prioritise unanswered questions that can be addressed by future research projects. To identify and prioritise the top 10 unanswered research priorities in digital technology for adolescents and young people (AYP) with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Methods A steering group (SG) consisting of AYP with IBD, their parents/carers, representatives from two charities (Crohn's & Colitis UK, Crohn's in Childhood Research Association), patient information forum and paediatric and adult and primary care healthcare professionals was established in 2021. The SG agreed the protocol, and scope of the PSP and oversaw all aspects. SG meetings were chaired by a JLA advisor and followed the established JLA methodology. Results The initial survey generated 414 in‐scope questions from 156 respondents, thematically categorised into 10 themes and consolidated into 92 summary questions by the SG. A comprehensive literature review followed by SG deliberation narrowed the unanswered summary questions to 45, for the interim prioritising survey. One hundred and two respondents ranked their top 10 research questions. Outputs generated top 18 research priorities presented at a final virtual prioritisation workshop, facilitated by JLA advisors and attended by key stakeholders, ranked into top 10 research priorities. Discussion The top 10 research priorities will encourage researchers to undertake research that addresses these areas of unmet need for AYP living with IBD, their parents/carers and their healthcare professionals, thereby facilitating improved patient care.

Developing research priorities for palliative care in Colombia: a priority setting partnership approach

Abstract:Background: A recent Lancet commission called for more research on palliative care in low- and middle-income (LMIC) countries such as Colombia. A research priority setting approach has been recommended by The Global Forum for Health Research to address the huge gap in research output between LMIC and high-income countries, with influential health service bodies recommending the active involvement of non-research expert stakeholders in establishing research priorities to address service user needs. Method: Priority setting partnership (PSP) following the four stages of the James Lind Alliance methodology; establishing the partnership, identifying evidence uncertainties, refining questions and uncertainties, and prioritization. Data from MS forms were analysed using descriptive statistics. Results: A total of 33 stakeholders attended an online PSP workshop and completed the Mentimeter exercise in Microsoft Teams. A total of 48 attended the subsequent in person prioritisation exercise in urban Bogota (n = 22) and rural Popayan (n = 25). The stakeholders were a diverse group of health professionals (physicians, medical students, nurses, dentists, physiotherapists, nutritionist, occupational and speech therapists), financial and administrative staff and patients with life-limiting illness and caregivers. Top research priorities included patient and caregiver needs, service provider education and training, and better integration of palliative care with cancer and non-cancer services. The key challenges included a lack of interest in palliative care research, along with funding, time and resource constraints. Key solutions included collaboration across disciplines and settings, highlighting benefits of palliative research to help secure adequate resources, and multicentre, mixed method research, with patient involvement from the research development stage. Conclusion: The findings of this PSP should be disseminated among palliative care associations worldwide to inform international multicentre studies, and among governmental and nongovernmental organisations that promote research in Colombia. A focus on patient and family caregiver palliative care needs in Colombia should be prioritised.
