Abstract:Based on the extant literature, organization contextual factors are important for organization to motivate employee's effort to take part in the knowledge sharing activities. This paper advances extant literature by investigating one of the key contextual factors which pays attention on leader evaluation, explores the effect of leader evaluation on employee knowledge sharing. The results show that leader positive evaluation has a positive effect on employee knowledge sharing, but leader negative evaluation has a negative effect on that, furthermore, the effect of leader negative evaluation on employee knowledge sharing will weaker when leader evaluation with process oriented is strong rather than weak.

Abstract:The stress is the main issue that affects individuals’ life from each dimension like their social and professional lives. The occupational stress is the employee anxieties and worries about his/her work which is basically result of various dynamic issues like working environment, working load and poor relationships with colleagues and immediate supervisor/leadership. In this connection, leadership is vital concept whose main role is to inspire their followers/ employees towards the attainment of certain well-defines objectives. For this purpose, the leaders use the different styles to motivate their employees by considering their needs and resolving their worries at workplaces in which the leadership styles (transformational and transactional) is most comprehensive package for employees’ motivation and performance leading to stressless situation at workplace. Therefore, to examine the relationships among the leadership styles, occupational stress and emotional intelligence, the data was collected through questionnaire from the teachers hailing from higher education institutions of KP, Pakistan and analyzed through different tools of the statistics to obtain answers to research questions. The researcher will offer recommendations to policy makers of higher education institutions about the research variables.
Knowledge-Oriented Leadership and Tacit and Explicit Knowledge-Sharing Behaviors: A Moderated Mediation Model of Emotional Intelligence and Self-Efficacy

Abstract:Purpose - Drawing from social cognitive theory, the present study examines the impact of knowledge-oriented leadership on knowledge sharing behaviors (tacit and explicit). Moreover, this study examines the intervening effect of self-efficacy between the relationship of knowledge-oriented leadership and knowledge sharing behaviors (tacit and explicit). Furthermore, this study investigates the moderating role of emotional intelligence between the relationship of knowledge-oriented leadership and self-efficacy. Study Design/Methodology/Approach - Two hundred and ninety-five permanent employees of service sector organizations (i.e., banking, telecommunication, and media) voluntarily participated in a data collection survey which was conducted using a three-week temporal separation method. Data was analyzed using statistical software, i.e., SPSS and Smart-PLS to assess the reliability and validity of the constructs and test the direct, indirect, moderation, and moderated mediation relationships of the variables. Findings - The findings showed that knowledge-oriented leadership strongly predicts tacit and explicit knowledge-sharing behaviors, and self-efficacy mediated this relationship. Moreover, results support the moderation of emotional intelligence between knowledge-oriented leadership and self-efficacy. Research Limitations- To bring a deeper understanding of how organizational and personal factors influence the knowledge-sharing behaviors of the employees, future research should investigate the potential mediating mechanisms, i.e., trust in leadership and learning goal orientation and the moderating role of psychosocial safety climate using the specific leadership style, i.e., adaptive, and humble leadership. Originality/Novelty- The findings of this study suggest that organizations focus on the enhancement of knowledge-related skills of the management which encourages the subordinates for higher self-efficacy regarding the sharing of tacit and explicit knowledge. Moreover, this study highlighted the importance of emotional intelligence for the enhancement of self-efficacy; also, emotional intelligence indirectly helps individuals demonstrate knowledge-sharing behaviors (tacit and explicit).

Abstract:This research tries to investigate the dynamic link between higher education institution (HEIs) transformational leaders (TFL) and follower's outcome innovative work behavior (IWB) and Task Performance) through Knowledge sharing (KNS) in Pakistan. Using quantitative design an adopted construct was used to obtain response from HEIs leaders and employees behavior. The obtained information was analyzed through structural equation modeling (SEM) technique via Smart PLS. Results depict that direct link between University Transformational leadership and employees Innovative work behavior as well as Task Performance. The results further postulate that KNS mediate the relationship between Transformational leadership and employees TSP in the context of HEIs. Surprisingly, KNS could not evident to become a mediating variable to strengthen the relationship between transformational Leadership and employees IWB in the HEIs sector of Pakistan. In addition to enhancing the theoretical comprehension of higher education leadership, the outcomes of this article provide that promoting knowledge sharing culture is valuable asset for both existing and future HEIs leaders in order to promote the culture of innovation and creativity. Although recent studies investigate the role of KNS as a mediator, however the current study use KNS as contemporaneous intervening variable for IWB and Task Performance for the first time. The study also confirms theoretical underpinning of social exchange mechanism in strengthening the relationship between leader member's continuum.
Knowledge sharing through empowering leadership: the roles of psychological empowerment and learning goal orientation

Abstract:Purpose Knowledge sharing has become necessary for organizations as it is a source of competitive advantage. Therefore, this study aims to investigate how empowering leadership through psychological empowerment encourages employees’ knowledge-sharing (KS) behavior. This study further explores the moderating role of learning goal orientation (LGO) between psychological empowerment and KS behavior. Design/methodology/approach This study collected data from 423 employees working in manufacturing and service organizations in two waves on convenience basis to tackle common method variance. The data were analyzed through structural equation modeling. Findings The results revealed that empowering leadership helps employees modify their KS behavior both directly and indirectly in the presence of psychological empowerment. Moreover, individuals high in LGO are more likely to involve in KS behavior when psychologically empowered. Research limitations/implications This study used a cross-sectional design and suggests management focus on their working environment to enhance knowledge sharing among employees, which is possible through empowering leaders. The study further suggests management not ignore individual attributes during recruitment. Originality/value Drawing upon job characteristics model and social exchange theory, this study explores the mediating role of psychological empowerment between empowering leadership and KS behavior and the moderating role of LGO on the association between psychological empowerment and KS behavior.

Abstract:Journal of Information &Knowledge Management, Ahead of Print. In the dynamic knowledge-based landscape, effective leadership has a crucial role in sharing knowledge and expertise towards innovation. Multiple previous research studies have studied the correlation between leadership style and innovative behaviour. Nevertheless, few empirical studies have investigated the mediating influence of psychological empowerment on the connection between organisational leadership and innovative behaviour. The study also examines how creative self-efficacy influences the connection between entrepreneurial leadership and innovative behaviour. This study addressed the knowledge gap by examining the correlation between transformational leadership, entrepreneurial leadership, and innovative behaviour. Additionally, it sought to explore the role of psychological empowerment and creative self-efficacy as mediators in the relationship between entrepreneurial leadership, transformational leadership, and innovative behaviour. A questionnaire was administered to 228 individuals who are employees working in Pakistan's SMEs. The data were then analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with Smart-PLS software. The findings suggest transformational leadership and entrepreneurial leadership heightened innovative behaviour among employees through psychological empowerment and creative self-efficacy. No direct impact was established for transformational leadership on innovative behaviour indicating the presence for mediator. This study contributes to the existing literature by offering empirical proof of the correlation between transformational leadership, entrepreneurial leadership, and innovative behaviour. It also examines the influence of psychological empowerment and creative self-efficacy on innovative behaviour. The practical implication is that to encourage innovative behaviour, leaders need to get down the field to empower and build confidence among employees.

Abstract:Leadership stains affect the follower’s performances regarding innovative work behavior, and a gap is found in leadership research in higher education, specifically in Pakistan. The basic purpose of this research is to point out the effect of leadership styles on innovative work behavior under the mediating and moderating roles of organizational culture and organizational citizenship behavior among the Head of the Departments (HODs) in higher education institutions (HEIs). A survey method has been carried out to collect data from 160 respondents to, further, verify how leadership styles of academic leaders affect employees’ performances in universities. The statistical study exposes a substantial positive effect of leadership styles on innovative work behaviors of employees highlighting mediating and moderating effects of organizational culture and OCB on such a relationship. This study carries various implications for prior research in both theoretical and practical fields, and its scope may also be enlarged, geographically or institutionally, to another context. This research uncovers the relationship of leadership styles and innovative work behavior in academic research, which has been ignored before in higher education of Pakistan.

Impact of Paternalistic Leadership on Knowledge Sharing Behavior with the Mediating Role of Affective Commitment and Power Distance as Moderator

Abstract:Purpose – This paper aims at examining the impact of paternalistic leadership on knowledge-sharing behavior with the mediating role of affective commitment and power distance as moderators. Design/Methodology/Approach – A quantitative research design was employed. For collecting data 300 structured questionnaires comprising of a 5-point Likert scale (strongly disagree to strongly agree) were distributed out of which 146 were received and used. Cronbach alpha, correlation, multiple regression analysis, and mediator analysis were tested on the collected information. Findings – The results showed that PL (AL) has a positive impact while PL (BL) and PL (ML) have a significant positive impact on KSB; moreover, PD fully moderates the PL and KSB relationship when the mediating role of AC is contrary to developed hypothesis. Research limitations/implications – Since this research was conducted among a particular group of construction, manufacturing industry, project-based, and other business professionals, further research should investigate such related relation in some other context with different moderating and mediating variables. Practical implications – Finding of this research can be implemented in different organizations for checking the authenticity and further betterment. Originality/Value – The paper has first-hand primary research data of which results, and conclusions are drawn by following all necessary ethical and scientific research methods.

Abstract:The current research investigated the extent to which leaders can encourage knowledge sharing by carrying it out ethically. We hypothesize that servant leadership has the ability to encourage the sharing of knowledge, drawing on the principles of social learning theory. Furthermore, social learning theory demonstrates that organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) as a mediator and trust as a moderator can boost knowledge sharing among employees in private organizations. In the private organization’ KP, Pakistan, we collected data from 340 managers and employees in three phases. Furthermore, the analysis tool SPSS was used to evaluate the model and investigate the effects of mediation and moderation. The findings indicate that servant leadership has a positive association with knowledge sharing, and this relationship is strongly mediated by OCB. Moreover, trust positively moderates this relationship. Our research suggests that servant leaders can foster knowledge sharing via OCB and employee trust.

Abstract:The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of servant leadership on teachers of moral education degree programs in Pakistan. By utilizing social learning, we propose that servant leadership and perceived coworker support can reduce the knowledge hiding by enhancing the sense of organization-based psychological ownership. The findings of time-lagged and multi-source data indicate that servant leadership has a negative relationship with knowledge hiding. Our results also indicate that psychological ownership mediates the effects of servant leadership on knowledge hiding. Moreover, a higher level of perceived coworker support enhances the sense of psychological ownership which helps to reduce knowledge hiding. This research extends strong support for the proposition that servant leaders who adopt an employee-centered management approach, stressing personal integrity and care for employees significantly affect employee attitudes and behaviors. Moreover, this study suggests that managers should demonstrate care toward their subordinates which helps them to reduce negative behaviors (e.g., knowledge hiding).

Abstract:Given the pivotal function of ethical leadership (EL) in the hospitality industry, this study explains how moral guidance can help to reduce mental stress. The modern complex and hectic working style of organizations demands ethical conduct, in order to sustain the positive behavior of employees for knowledge sharing (KS). For this reason, in this study, we restrict our awareness to the usage of social media (SM) for social identity and aspects of subjective well-being (SWB) for happiness intensity. The time-lag method is applied for data collection from 406 supervisors and subordinates of the hotel industry in Pakistan. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and bootstrapping are utilized to scan the data. The results of the current study demonstrate that ethical leadership provides motivational strength for knowledge sharing amongst employees. Moreover, the serial mediation effects of subjective well-being and social media boost knowledge sharing by the induction of ethical values. Our findings indicate that knowledge sharing is an important product of subjective well-being and social media. Therefore, we recommend that managers focus on ethical leadership values and employee well-being (e.g., life satisfaction), as well as highlight the individuality of employees to promote knowledge sharing. The presented research adds to the literature by establishing a new connection between ethical leadership and knowledge sharing by opening the black box of contextual (i.e., ethical leadership) and developmental (i.e., subjective well-being and social media) factors.

Abstract:Although scholars have recognized the important role of leader empowering behavior in promoting employee knowledge sharing, investigations on the potential underlying mechanism are still limited. To enrich studies revealing the possible underlying paths, drawing on self-determination theory, this paper proposes a moderated mediation model. We propose that employee self-determination plays a mediating role and employee proactivity moderates the mediating effect. We test our hypotheses based on data collected from 230 employees across a three-wave study. The empirical results demonstrate that leader empowering behavior promotes employee knowledge sharing by enhancing employee self-determination. Employees’ proactive personality moderates the indirect effect such that the indirect effect is stronger when employees have high levels of proactive personality. This paper thus contributes to the related literature and reveals practical implications.

Abstract:This study investigates the experiences of women in leadership roles within higher education institutions in Pakistan and the United States. The main aim is to understand how women describe their experiences in attaining, advancing, and maintaining leadership positions in higher education. It contributes to theoretical understandings of women's leadership and highlighting unique challenges and opportunities in different cultural contexts. This study employs Mezirow's (2003) Critical Reflection Theory as a theoretical framework to guide participants' retrospective storytelling process. Through qualitative research methods including semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis of interview transcripts, the study explores how women navigate their journeys to leadership positions and the challenges they encounter. Despite cultural variations, female leaders in both countries face comparable obstacles such as gender bias and limited training opportunities. To empower these leaders, policies should prioritize formal leadership training, address workplace bias, and support work-life balance initiatives. Policy implications include the implementation of formal leadership training programs, addressing unconscious bias, and supporting family-friendly policies to empower female leaders. Advocacy for legislative measures promoting gender equality in leadership positions is crucial for creating supportive policy environments globally. Can paternalistic leaders enhance knowledge sharing? The roles of organizational commitment and Islamic work ethics

Abstract:Purpose This paper aims to investigate the effect of paternalistic leadership (benevolent, moral and authoritarian) on knowledge sharing of nurses through the mediation of organizational commitment (affective, continuance and normative). Further, the study examines the moderating role of Islamic work ethics on the association between organizational commitment and knowledge sharing. Design/methodology/approach In this quantitative study, data was collected from 312 nurses working in the health-care sector of Pakistan through “Google Forms” in two waves. Moreover, structural equation modeling was used to test the proposed hypotheses. Findings The study noted affective and normative commitment as mediators between the associations of benevolent, moral and authoritarian leadership with knowledge sharing, whereas continuance commitment was not found as an explaining variable. In addition, Islamic work ethics was found to strengthen the association of affective and normative commitment with knowledge sharing. However, Islamic work ethics was found to weaken the association between continuance commitment and knowledge sharing. Practical implications This study offers practical insights for health-care executives to act as fatherly figures to enhance the knowledge sharing of their nurses. The study recommends that managers in the health-care system build such an environment that helps nurses follow Islamic work ethics. It may enhance their level of organizational commitment and encourage them to engage in knowledge sharing behaviors to have a successful work environment. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this research is the first to extend the literature on paternalistic leadership. More specifically, this study investigated how various dimensions of paternalistic leadership (benevolent, moral and authoritarian) effects three-dimensional commitment (affective, continuance and normative) to enhance knowledge sharing behavior among nurses.

Abstract:The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of responsible leadership on knowledge sharing behavior. Furthermore, we investigated the mediating role of person-organization fit in the relationship between responsible leadership and knowledge sharing behavior. Moreover, higher educational institute culture moderates the relationship between responsible leadership and person-organization fit. The data collected from 295 respondents (teachers, head of department and management staff) from universities located in different cities of China. The data were gathered at one time, and therefore, the study is cross-sectional. Because of COVID-19, there have been a few universities closed; therefore, data were also collected online. The data were analyzed quantitatively using the partial least squares (PLS)–structural equation modelling (SEM) technique. The result indicated that responsible leadership is positively and significantly influential on knowledge sharing behavior directly, and also indirectly through mediator person-organization fit. Also, the higher educational institute culture positively and significantly moderates the relationship between responsible leadership and person-organization fit.

Abstract:Purpose Although previous studies have studied the impact of spiritual leadership (SL) on employees’ innovation, the research on mechanisms and the boundary conditions for stimulating this relationship is scant. This paper aims to follow the idea of social capital theory (SCT), which contends that social relationships are resources that lead toward the development of intellectual capital, important for innovative work behavior (IWB) of employees; the mediating role of knowledge sharing self-efficacy (KSSE) and moderating role of innovation climate (IC) are considered. Design/methodology/approach The authors collected the data from the foreign and local employees working in multinational companies in China. The quantitative analysis was performed using Smart-PLS 3.0. Findings The results indicated that employee high-ranking of SL is positively related to KSSE. Moreover, SL is significant to enhance IWB, whereas KSSE explained this relationship. The authors also suggest that an employee’s KSSE is significant to form important behavior at work (IWB). However, IC did not play its moderating role in the SL – IWB link. Originality/value This study explores the influence of the leadership style (SL) on employees’ KSSE and the effect of KSSE on IWB, which have not been studied previously. The current study confirms the relationship between SL and IWB in the multicultural workplace and reveals the deeper influence of an individual’s belief (KSSE) mechanism between them. SCT was applied to explain the proposed relationships.

Abstract:Purpose The purpose of this paper is to extend the scant literature on the effect of abusive supervision on knowledge sharing by examining the roles of Islamic work ethic and learning goal orientation in moderating the effect. Design/methodology/approach This paper utilizes a cross-lagged survey research design to collect data from 735 employees working in the services and manufacturing sectors of Pakistan. Findings The data analysis revealed that abusive supervision has a damaging effect on knowledge sharing in the workplace. However, employee learning goal orientation and the Islamic work ethic help in mitigating this detrimental effect. Research limitations/implications The main theoretical implication is to advance knowledge on the boundary conditions that help in mitigating the undesirable effect of abusive supervision on sharing of knowledge in organizational settings. Practical implications This paper provides practical insights into mitigating the damaging effects of abusive supervision, a prevalent issue in Asian societies, through the lenses of Islamic business ethics and learning goal orientation. Originality/value This is the first study that examines the boundary conditions placed by the Islamic work ethic and learning goal orientation around the relationship between abusive supervision and knowledge sharing in the context of Pakistan.

Abstract:SAGE Open, Volume 13, Issue 3, July-September 2023. Leadership is about having the capacity to make a vision a reality. In the context of transformational leadership, this study examines creative behavior as a key factor in Pakistan's IT sector. Examining the relationship between transformational leadership and innovative behavior is the main goal of this study. While transformational leadership affects people because it inspires them, fosters morale, and boosts productivity. A moderated mediation model based on social cognitive theory was provided in this study. In contrast, the functions of mediation and moderation were played by knowledge sharing, organizational identification, and learning goal orientation. In this cross-sectional study, we implemented the convenience sample method and gathered 391 valid responses from the IT sector. Using the use of AMOS 26 and SPSS 23, the authors measured the latent variables and discussed their connection using a descriptive and correlational approach. The findings showed that transformational leadership has a favorable and substantial impact on innovative behavior. As a result, the mediation of knowledge exchange unites innovative behavior with transformational leadership. When two moderators' organizational identification and learning goal orientation are effective, knowledge sharing mediates transformational leadership and innovative behavior. By highlighting the mediating function of knowledge sharing in promoting particular traits of innovative behavior, this research has broadened the scope of social cognition theory.

Abstract:This study adds value to the existing literature on social exchange theory in analysing the relationship between inclusive leadership and innovative work behaviour with the mediating effects of work engagement and moderating effects of leader-member exchange. We designed the present study using a time-lagged method to avoid issues of common method bias. The data were collected using convenience sampling in 3-different time lags. Convenience sampling was used and a total of 214 responses were collected. The empirical results indicated that inclusive leadership and innovative work behaviour were not positively related. However, we also obtained empirical support for the mediating role of work engagement and the moderating role of LMX on the inclusive leadership and innovative work behaviour relationship. This paper discusses theoretical and practical implications based on social exchange theory. The study highlights how inclusive leadership helps employees enhance their innovative work behaviours through the indirect effects of work engagement and moderating effects of leader-member exchange. The study also forwards robust future research directions.

Abstract:Purpose This paper aims to investigate the tacit knowledge-sharing framework among Pakistani academicians. The objective is to study trust and social networks as antecedents to foster tacit knowledge sharing with the mediating role of commitment. Furthermore, the moderating role of organizational knowledge-sharing culture is also examined. Design/methodology/approach The study applied a survey-based quantitative research design to test the proposed model. The nature of data are cross-sectional and collected with stratified random sampling among public sector higher education professionals of Pakistan. The total sample size for the present research is 247 respondents. The variance-based structural equation modeling technique by using Smart_PLS software is used for analysis. Findings Data analysis and results reveal that trust and social networks are significant predictors of tacit knowledge sharing among Pakistani academicians while commitment positively mediated the relationships. While the moderating role of organizational knowledge-sharing culture is also established. Research limitations/implications The current research explains tacit knowledge sharing among academics with fewer antecedents i.e. social network and trust with limited sample size and specific population. There is still a great deal of work to be done in this area. Hence, the study provides direction for including knowledge-oriented leadership and knowledge governance in the current framework. Moreover, the framework can be tested in different work settings for better generalization. Practical implications The study gives an important lead to practitioners for enhancing tacit knowledge sharing at the workplace through a robust social network of employees, building trust and boosting employees’ commitment, as well as through supportive organizational knowledge sharing culture. Originality/value The research comprehends the tacit knowledge sharing framework with theoretical arrangements of trust, social networks, commitment and culture in higher education workplace settings under the umbrella of social capital theory.
