Abstract:Background Psychosocial rehabilitation in forensic psychiatric services requires sound measurement of patient and staff perceptions of psychosocial function. The recommended World Health Organisation Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS), designed for this, has not been examined with offender patients. Aims To examine patient and staff WHODAS ratings of secure hospital inpatients with psychosis, any differences between them and explore associations with other clinical factors. Methods Seventy‐three patients self‐rated on the WHODAS after 3 months as inpatients. An occupational therapist interviewed the patient's primary nurse and care team at about the same time (staff ratings). Scores were calculated according to the WHODAS manual. WHODAS scores and interview‐rated symptom severity, cognitive measures, daily antipsychotic dose and duration of care were compared. Results Patient ratings indicated less disability than staff ratings for total score and for the domains of understanding and communicating, getting along and life activities. Self‐care and participation ratings were similar. Patients were more likely to rate themselves as disabled in getting around (mobility). Only one‐fifth of patient‐ and staff‐ ratings (16, 22%) were similar, while for nearly a third of the patients (23, 32%) self‐ratings were higher than staff ratings. More severe positive symptoms were associated with higher self‐rated WHODAS disability after accounting for treatment duration, negative symptoms, cognitive score and antipsychotic dose. No variable accounted for the staff/patient differences in ratings. Conclusion Our mean WHODAS score findings echoed those in other patient samples—of patient underestimation of disability, linked to severity of symptoms. In this study using the WHODAS for the first time in a forensic mental health secure inpatient service, however, we found that, by comparing individuals, half of the patients reported equivalent or greater disability than did staff. Future research should focus on elucidating from patients what contributes to their self‐ratings. Understanding their thought processes in rating may enhance rehabilitation planning.

Abstract:We evaluated the psychometric properties of the 12-item interviewer-administered screener version of the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule - version II (WHODAS II) among older people living in seven low- and middle-income countries. Principal component analysis (PCA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and Mokken analyses were carried out to test for unidimensionality, hierarchical structure, and measurement invariance across 10/66 Dementia Research Group sites.PCA generated a one-factor solution in most sites. In CFA, the two-factor solution generated in Dominican Republic fitted better for all sites other than rural China. The two factors were not easily interpretable, and may have been an artefact of differing item difficulties. Strong internal consistency and high factor loadings for the one-factor solution supported unidimensionality. Furthermore, the WHODAS II was found to be a 'strong' Mokken scale. Measurement invariance was supported by the similarity of factor loadings across sites, and by the high between-site correlations in item difficulties.The Mokken results strongly support that the WHODAS II 12-item screener is a unidimensional and hierarchical scale confirming to item response theory (IRT) principles, at least at the monotone homogeneity model level. More work is needed to assess the generalizability of our findings to different populations. Copyright (C) 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Abstract:Objective: The WHODAS-II was substantially modified for use in the World Mental Health Surveys. This article considers psychometric properties and implications of filter items used to reduce respondent burden of the modified WHODAS-II.Study Design and Setting: Seventeen surveys in 16 countries administered a modified WHODAS-II to population samples (N = 38,934 adults). Modifications included introducing filter questions for four subscales and substituting questions on the number of days activity was limited for the Life Activities domain. We evaluated distributional properties, reliability, and validity of the modified WHODAS-II.Results: Most respondents (77%-99%) had zero scores on filtered subscales. Lower bound estimates of internal consistency (alpha) for the filtered subscales were typically in the 0.70s, but were higher for the Global scale. Loadings of subscale scores on a Global Disability factor were moderate to high. Correlations with the Sheehan Disability Scale were modest but consistently positive, while correlations with SF-12 Physical Component Summary were considerably higher. Cross-national variability in disability scores was observed, but was not readily explainable.Conclusions: Internal consistency and validity of the modified WHODAS-II was generally supported, but use of filter questions impaired measurement properties. Group differences in modified WHODAS-II disability scores may be compared within, but not necessarily across, countries. (C) 2008 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Abstract:WHODAS-2.0 is a suggested replacement to the GAF in DSM-5. This study's purpose was to assess their comparative correlation in adults with schizophrenia spectrum disorder. 42 individuals with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder were administered both tools and the PANSS. Pearson product moment correlations were computed and the different methods compared using bootstrap. There was no significant correlation between raw WHODAS-2.0 and GAF scores for all participants and a modest correlation between corrected WHODAS-2.0 and GAF scores for outpatients. The WHODAS-2.0 and GAF did not correlate when WHODAS-2.0 was self-rated, and only modestly correlated when clinician-rater corrected.

Abstract:Objective: This study, the first to assess the reliability and validity of the Work and Social Assessment Scale (WSAS) in Norwegian routine mental health care, examines differences in functional impairment based on sick leave status, psychiatric diagnosis, and sex. Method: Including 3573 individuals from community mental health services (n1 = 1157) and a psychiatric outpatient clinic (n2 = 2416), exploratory factor analysis (EFA) on subsample 1 and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on subsample 2 were utilized to replicate the identified factor structure. Results: EFA supported a one-factor model, replicated by the CFA, with high internal consistency (α = .82, ω = .81). Patients on sick leave reported greater impairments in all aspects of functioning, except for relationships, with the largest effect size observed in the reported ability to work (d = .39). Psychiatric outpatients with major depressive disorder were associated with difficulties in home management, private leisure activities, and forming close relationships. Patients with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder reported less impairment than those with other disorders. Patients with personality disorders reported more relationship difficulties than those with PTSD, ADHD, and anxiety. No differences were found in the perceived ability to work between diagnoses. Women had a higher impairment in private leisure activities, whereas men reported more impairment in relationships. Conclusion: The demonstrated reliability and validity suggest that WSAS is a valuable assessment tool in Norwegian routine mental health care. Variations in functional impairment across sick leave status, sex, and psychiatric diagnoses highlight the importance of integrating routine assessments of functional impairment into mental health care practices. Future research should combine WSAS with register data to allow for a broader understanding of treatment effectiveness, emphasizing improvements in functional outcomes alongside symptom alleviation.
The Sociodemographic Factors Related to Disability of Applicants of Welfare Benefits in Greece: A Cross-Sectional Survey Based on the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS) 2.0

Abstract:Introduction: The aim of the present study was to report on the prevalence of disability and its association with sociodemographic factors among welfare benefit applicants in Greece. The study also compared the disability scores between different health conditions using the WHODAS 2.0 (12-item version), a biopsychosocial-model-based measure. Methods: The Greek WHODAS 2.0, 12-item version, was administered by interview. A three-member medical committee assessed the medical records of the applicants and assigned a disability percentage based on the biomedical measure of disability percentage determination (Barema scale). Results: The majority of the participants were female (56.65%). Certain health conditions were presented more frequently among welfare benefit applicants (mental health disorders and neoplasms). The domains with the highest rate of difficulty were the "participation" and "life activities" domains. Significant differences were found between WHODAS 2.0 and Barema scores for all eight different health condition categories. The factorial ANOVA (8x2) showed a significant interaction effect between health condition category and gender with respect to the WHODAS 2.0 score (F = 19.033, p <.001, η2 = 0.13). The WHODAS 2.0 score was negatively correlated to gender, years of studies, and marital status and positively correlated to age, working status, and the Barema score. The results revealed that male participants with a partner who were younger, had more studies, were actively working, and had a lower Barema score would have lower WHODAS scores. Conclusion: Sociodemographic characteristics of welfare benefit applicants are associated with disability levels based on WHODAS 2.0. Certain health conditions, like mental health or neuromusculoskeletal conditions, are associated with higher disability scores. There are differences between the biopsychosocial and the biomedical approaches to disability assessment. The implementation of WHODAS 2.0 may contribute to a better understanding of the lived experience of patients and is a feasible and efficient tool. Combining biomedical and biopsychosocial approaches may enhance the procedures of disability assessment and help in the development of policies that support people with disabilities.
Development of traditional Chinese version of World Health Organization disability assessment schedule 2.0 36--item (WHODAS 2.0) in Taiwan: validity and reliability analyses

Abstract:Background: World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0) provided a standardized method for measuring the health and disability and the traditional Chinese version has not been developed. Aims: To describe the process of developing the traditional Chinese version of the WHODAS 2.0 36-item version and to evaluate the concurrent validity and test-retest reliability of this instrument. Methods: The study was conducted in two phases. Phase I was the process of translation of WHODAS 2.0 36-item version. Phase II was a cross-sectional study. The participants were 307 adults who were tested the validity and reliability of draft traditional Chinese version. Results: The reliability of Cronbach's α and ICC in the WHODAS 2.0 traditional Chinese version were 0.73-0.99 and 0.8-089, respectively. The content validity was good (r=0.7-0.76), and the concurrent validity was excellent in comparison with the WHOQOL-BREF (p<0.5). The construct validity, the model was explained total variance was 67.26% by the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) illustrated the traditional Chinese version was good to assess disability. There was a valid and reliable measurement scales for evaluating functioning and disability status. Conclusion: For disability eligibility system of Taiwan government to measure the disability, the traditional Chinese version of the WHODAS 2.0 provided valuable evidence to design the assessment instrument.

Abstract:Abstract The Work and Social Adjustment Scale (WSAS) is a brief global measure of functional impairment that is widely used in adult health. We have adapted the WSAS for its use in youth, the WSAS-Youth version (WSAS-Y) and WSAS-Parent version (WSAS-P). This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the scale. The internal consistency, factor structure, convergent and divergent validity, test–retest reliability and sensitivity to change of the WSAS-Y/P were studied in 525 children and adolescents with obsessive–compulsive disorder and related disorders receiving treatment. The internal consistency of the WSAS-Y/P was excellent across diagnostic groups and time-points. Exploratory factor analysis extracted a single-factor of functional impairment, explaining in excess of 85% of the variance. The test–retest reliability was adequate. The WSAS-Y/P correlated more strongly with other measures of functional impairment than with measures of symptom severity, indicating good convergent/divergent validity. Finally, the WSAS-Y/P was highly sensitive to change after treatment.

Factor Structure and Construct Validity of the Worker Role Self-Assessment (WRS) When Used for People With Psychiatric Disabilities in Sweden

Abstract:A self-report instrument assessing work-related factors among people with psychiatric disabilities would be useful when trying to match possible employment or prevocational opportunities with people's desires and capacities. The aim of this study was to explore the factor structure, internal consistency, and construct and criterion validity of the Worker Role Self-Assessment (WRS) in this group as well as possible floor and ceiling effects. The participants were 283 clients from day centers for people with psychiatric disabilities and from outpatient units for people with psychosis. They completed the WRS and instruments selected to assess construct validity in terms of convergent (motivation for work and current activity level as reference variables) and discriminant validity (quality of life and self-rated health as reference variables). Two factors were identified, one tapping beliefs in a future worker role and one reflecting current capacities and routines. The internal consistency for the scale as a whole was good at 0.84. The factor reflecting a future worker role correlated as expected with the reference variables used to assess convergent and discriminant validity, whereas current capacities and routines showed a moderate association with quality of life and self-rated health, assumed to indicate discriminant validity. Criterion validity was shown in that those who had recent work experiences scored higher than the others on WRS. No floor or ceiling effects were identified. The findings indicate acceptable psychometric properties of the WRS. Further development is still warranted, however; the factor solution needs to be replicated and the construct validity should be further established.

Abstract:Introduction. The DSM-5 replaced the Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) with the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Questionnaire (WHODAS) 2.0 as a measure of functioning because of the shortcomings of the former. However, further evidence of how GAF and WHODAS 2.0 scores are correlated and how both instruments are associated with sociodemographic and clinical variables. particularly in children and adolescents, is required to support this change. Objective. To correlate GAF and WHODAS 2.0 scores in a sample of children and adolescents, and to determine which sociodemographic and clinical variables are associated with the scores of each instrument. Method. Using reports obtained from a secondary database analysis of a cross-sectional, multicentric study, we calculated the correlation between WHODAS 2.0 and GAF scores in a clinical sample of children and performed a general linear model analysis to evaluate the association between the sociodemographic and clinical variables with functioning scores. Results. Sixty-six participants completed the evaluation. The correlation between WHODAS 2.0 and GAF (r = -.69, 95% CI = [-.82, -.49], p () .001) was moderate to large and significant. Only poor peer relationships and a higher number of diagnoses were significantly associated with low functioning in both instruments. The results suggest that WHODAS 2.0 and GAF scores reflect different aspects of functioning and disability. Discussion and conclusion. Both instruments can provide an accurate assessment of disability/functionality. We propose that, for pediatric cases, WHODAS could provide more information on the self-care domain.

Abstract:Background: This study aims to identify disability classes among people with schizophrenia spectrum disorder, depression, anxiety or diabetes via the WHODAS 2.0; investigate the invariance of disability patterns among the four diagnostic groups; and examine associations between disability classes and sociodemographic variables. Methods: Patients seeking treatment for schizophrenia spectrum disorder, depression, anxiety or diabetes (n=1076) were recruited. Latent class analysis was used to identify disability classes based on WHODAS 2.0 responses. Measurement invariance was tested using multi-group latent class analysis. Associations between classes and sociodemographic variables were tested via multinomial logistic regression. Results: A five-class solution was identified; examination of model invariance showed that the partially constrained five-class model was most appropriate, suggesting that class structure was consistent while class membership differed across diagnostic groups. Finally, significant associations were found between class membership and ethnicity, education level, and employment status. Conclusions: The results show the feasibility of using the WHODAS 2.0 to identify and compare different disability classes among people with mental or physical conditions and their sociodemographic correlates. Establishing a typology of different disability profiles will help guide research and treatment plans that tackle not just clinical but also functional aspects of living with either a chronic psychiatric or physical condition.
Psychometric characteristics of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale in stroke survivors of working age before and after inpatient rehabilitation

Abstract:Objective: The aim was to examine the psychometric properties of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) in cohorts of working age stroke survivors, before and after inpatient rehabilitation. Methods: Stroke patients aged 18-66 years registered in the national quality register WebRehab Sweden were included in the study at hospital admission (n = 256), discharge (n = 223), and 1-year follow-up (n = 313). Classical and modern (Rasch) methods were used for psychometric evaluation. Results: The two-factor HADS model measuring anxiety and depression showed better fit than a single factor measuring emotional distress. The instrument's psychometric stability before and after rehabilitation was satisfactory. The anxiety scale showed good psychometric properties, except for item 7, which is not anxiety-specific. Some concerns were observed for the depression items showing weaker discriminant validity, and item 8 performing poorly as a measure of depression. Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's omega coefficients showed satisfactory internal consistency reliability, whereas Rasch person reliability coefficients indicated weaker reliability, especially for the depression scale. Effect size of change between hospital admission and discharge showed a reduction in anxiety and depression symptoms. Conclusions: HADS showed a stable two-factor structure over the rehabilitation period. Patients' perception of items was not affected by the recovery, allowing relevant comparison of HADS scores between different phases of the rehabilitation process. Measures of responsiveness suggest that HADS is sensitive to capturing improvements in emotional distress following rehabilitation interventions. Overall, despite minor psychometric weaknesses, HADS is a suitable instrument for assessing anxiety and depresssion symptoms in stroke patients aged 18-66 years.

Abstract:Abstract Background: Assessment of disability is part of the psychiatric diagnostic process, and validated scales are needed for the assessment of functioning. The Swedish translations of the Child Sheehan Disability Scale (CSDS) for adolescents and parents (CSDS-P) have been adapted for use in psychiatric settings. Objective: The purpose of the study was to explore the psychometric properties of the Swedish CSDS and the CSDS-P among adolescent psychiatric patients. Method: Patients (n = 107) were assessed with the CSDS, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ adolescent), and the Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children-Present and Lifetime version (K-SADS-PL) diagnostic interview. Their parents participated in the interview and completed the CSDS-P and SDQ parent. Results: Internal consistency was α =.813 for the CSDS (three items) and α =.842 for the CSDS-P (five items). For both scales, principal component analyses showed one component. The correlations between the total scores of the CSDS and CSDS-P in relation to a general K-SADS-PL symptom summation index were r s = .332, p < .001 and r s = .237, p = .014, respectively. Correlations with the total K-SADS function summation index were r s < .300 for both. The correlation between the CSDS and the total difficulties score on the SDQ was r s = .433, p < .001. Conclusions: The Swedish translations of the CSDS and CSDS-P had similar psychometric properties to Whiteside’s CSDS and the Adult Sheehan Disability Scale. Concurrent validity and correlation between the CSDS and CSDS-P were weak.

Abstract:Fibromyalgia (FM) is chronic, widespread musculoskeletal pain and accompanying fatigue, sleep disturbances, cognitive, psychological, and somatic symptoms. The aim of the study is to assess the psychometric properties of the Polish version of the 36-item WHODAS 2.0 in FM patients. This is a cross-sectional study involving 456 FM polish patients. The World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0) 36-item version, the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) and Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI) were used as an assessment tool in the study. The internal consistency of the 36-item WHODAS 2.0 was assessed using Cronbach's alpha. Values ranging from 0.824 to 0.951 were obtained. The interclass correlation coefficients (ICC) were very high. Internal structure of the 36-item WHODAS 2.0 was checked with Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). RMSEA = 0.069, CFI = 0.963, TLI = 0.96, SRMR = 0.081 proved exactness of original six-dimensional structure of WHODAS 2.0. External validity was assessed by correlating the 36-item WHODAS 2.0 scores with the scores of two previously validated tools: FIQ and BDI. Positive correlations were obtained between the 36-item WHODAS 2.0 and these tools. Based on the conducted research, it has been shown that the 36-item WHODAS 2.0 is a reliable and valid tool for assessing disability in individuals with FM in Poland.

Disability, pain, and wound-specific concerns self-reported by adults at risk of limb loss: A cross-sectional study using the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0

Abstract:Introduction There has been limited study of patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in patients at risk of limb loss. Our primary objective was to estimate the prevalence of disability in this patient population using the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0). Materials and methods We recruited patients referred to a limb-preservation clinic. Patients self-reported their disability status using the 12-domain WHODAS 2.0. Severity of disability in each domain was scored from 1 = none to 5 = extreme and the total normalized to a 100-point scale (total score ≥25 = clinically significant disability). We also asked patients about wound-specific concerns and wound-related discomfort or distress. Results We included 162 patients. Reasons for clinic referral included arterial-insufficient (37.4%), postoperative (25.9%), and mixed etiology (10.8%) wounds. The mean WHODAS 2.0 disability score was 35.0 (standard deviation = 16.0). One-hundred-and-nineteen (73.5%) patients had clinically significant disability. Patients reported they had the greatest difficulty walking a long distance (mean score = 4.2), standing for long periods of time (mean score = 3.6), taking care of household responsibilities (mean score = 2.7), and dealing with the emotional impact of their health problems (mean score = 2.5). In the two-weeks prior to presentation, 87 (52.7%) patients expressed concern over their wound(s) and 90 (55.6%) suffered a moderate amount or great deal of wound-related discomfort or distress. In adjusted ordinary least squares regression models, although WHODAS 2.0 disability scores varied with changes in wound volume (p = 0.03) and total revised photographic wound assessment tool scores (p<0.001), the largest decrease in disability severity was seen in patients with less wound-specific concerns and wound-related discomfort and distress. Discussion The majority of people at risk of limb loss report suffering a substantial burden of disability, pain, and wound-specific concerns. Research is needed to further evaluate the WHODAS 2.0 in a multicenter fashion among these patients and determine whether care and interventions may improve their PROs.

Abstract:Background: Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a disabling health condition, and there is no disease-specific patient-reported outcome instrument to assess individuals with OSA. Objectives: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule (WHODAS 2.0) in individuals with OSA. Methods: One hundred individuals with OSA responded to the WHODAS 2.0 version of 36 items, the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the 12-item health survey (SF-12). Internal consistency, convergent and discriminative validity, and responsiveness to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) were the psychometric properties tested. Results: Cronbach's α values indicate good internal consistency (0.91 - 0.73), except for the self-care domain (α = 0.52). Convergent validity indicated an excellent correlation (r = -0.80) between the domains of functioning and quality of life. Discriminative validity showed no association between OSA severity and functioning (p = 0.90). The responsiveness to CPAP treatment showed a large effect size (r = 0.82; p < 0.05) CONCLUSIONS: The WHODAS 2.0 instrument is valid, reliable, and responsive for assessing individuals with OSA.

Abstract:Migrant children frequently have health needs that go unmet due to fragmented care caused by their mobility, poverty, lack of medical and financial resources, language barriers, superstitions and poor education. Their common health problems primarily fall into four categories: 1) Diseases and conditions caused by overcrowded and poor living conditions and frequent moves to new climatic areas with different water supplies and native viruses; 2) nutritional problems; 3) congenital anomalies, inherited conditions and allergies; and 4) neglect and lack of adequate medical treatment. Migrant children present nurse practitioners with a unique challenge to provide the children and their families with comprehensive health care which includes 1) diagnosis and treatment of common illnesses, infections and infestations within the family's meager economic means; 2) referrals for congenital anomalies, chronic conditions and those conditions requiring additional or specialized health services; and 3) the adaptation of teaching programs for the child and his/her parents (including health education in hygiene, immunization status, growth and development, stimulation, nutrition, etc.). This article discusses migrant health problems and makes recommendations for providing health care and referrals for migrant children.
Applicability and Psychometric Properties of General Mental Health Assessment Tools in Autistic People: A Systematic Review

Abstract:In recent years, there has been a proliferation of instruments for assessing mental health (MH) among autistic people. This study aimed to review the psychometric properties of broadband instruments used to assess MH problems among autistic people. In accordance with the PRISMA guidelines (PROSPERO: CRD42022316571) we searched the APA PsycINFO via Ovid, Ovid MEDLINE, Ovid Embase and the Web of Science via Clarivate databases from 1980 to March 2022, with an updated search in January 2024, to identify very recent empirical studies. Independent reviewers evaluated the titles and abstracts of the retrieved records ( n = 11,577) and full-text articles ( n = 1000). Data were extracted from eligible studies, and the quality of the included papers was appraised. In all, 164empirical articles reporting on 35 instruments were included. The review showed variable evidence of reliability and validity of the various instruments. Among the instruments reported in more than one study, the Aberrant Behavior Checklist had consistently good or excellent psychometric evidence. The reliability and validity of other instruments, including: the Developmental Behavior Checklist, Emotion Dysregulation Inventory, Eyberg Child Behavior Inventory, Autism Spectrum Disorder-Comorbid for Children Scale, and Psychopathology in Autism Checklist, were less documented. There is a need for a greater evidence-base for MH assessment tools for autistic people.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE: To explore the validity of the GAD-7 scale as an outcome measure of disability in primary care.METHODS: A random sample of 212 subjects was recruited in primary care clinics; 50% diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) by DSM-IV criteria and 50% concurrent matched controls. The GAD-7, the Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAM-A), and the abridged 12-item version of World Health Organization Disability Scale (WHO-DAS-II) were administered. The number of visits to primary care and specialty clinics was also recorded.RESULTS: Strong and significant (p<0.001) correlations were found between GAD-7 and HAM-A (r=0.852) and WHO-DAS-II (r=0.704) scores, particularly for Participation in Society (r=0.741), Understanding and Communication (r=0.679), and Life Activities (0.638) dimensions. Moderate but significant correlations were also found between GAD-7 score and the number of visits to Primary Care (r=0.393) and Specialty clinics (r=0.373). In all cases, an overall relation was observed between GAD-7 severity levels and disability scores [F (3,208)=25.4, p<0.001] as assessed by the WHO-DAS II, with higher mean disability values related to higher severity levels.CONCLUSIONS: The GAD-7 scale has been shown to highly correlate not only with specific anxiety but also with disability measures. It has been shown that more severe GAD levels correlate with higher disability states and tend to demand more health care attention. As the GAD-7 is self-administered and is not time consuming, this instrument could be a good choice to explore the level of patient disability in subjects with GAD in primary care settings.
