Abstract:OBJECTIVETo evaluate the validity and reliability of a Chinese version on the Short-Form Health Survey Scale (SF-36) among elderly population.METHODSQuestionnaire including SF-36 Chinese version was administered in a cross-sectional study from October to December 2007. 4241 elderly people over 60 years old from rural and urban area in Zhejiang province were face-to-face interviewed by well-trained investigators, and then analyses on correlation, reliability, factors, t-test and one-way ANOVA were made to evaluate on reliability and validity of the scale.RESULTSThe SF-36 Chinese version had good split-half reliability (r = 0.91, P < 0.001) and all the internal consistency Cronbach's alpha coefficients exceeded 0.8 except for VT (alpha = 0.65), SF (alpha = 0.65) and MH (alpha = 0.40). The correlative coefficients between each item and its domain were all greater than the 0.4 thresholds except item 9 - 2, and they were greater than the correlation between the item and other domains for all but item 9 - 8. These results demonstrated that the SF-36 Chinese version had good convergent validity and discriminant validity. The distribution of 35 items in 6 public factors (the cumulative variance = 67.04%) extracted from them was consistent with the basic conceived concept. All domains except MH had good validity to discriminate different categories.CONCLUSIONThe SF-36 Chinese version had good reliability and validity. It was acceptable for the evaluation on quality of life in elderly population, but the reliability and validity of MH were relative low and the items such as 9 - 2, 9 - 8 in MH and 3 - 1 in PF were not suitable for Chinese elderly population.
Psychometric Properties of the Chinese Version of the Self-Reporting Questionnaire 20 (Srq-20) in Community Settings

Abstract:Background: Community mental health services in China are in need of a brief, valid instrument to identify mental disorders. Many studies support the Self-Reporting Questionnaire 20 (SRQ-20) as a cost-effective instrument with which to measure community mental health, but there have been no previous studies conducted with the Chinese version of SRQ-20. In this paper, the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of SRQ-20 in community settings were investigated. Method: SRQ-20 was used to evaluate 959 participants from 10 communities of Hangzhou City and 60 participants from two community primary care centres for the presence of mental disorders. Discriminative, concurrent, and construct validity as well as internal consistency and screening properties of SRQ-20 were evaluated. Results: Cronbach’s α for SRQ-20 was 0.90 for primary care and 0.91 for the community. Item-total correlation coefficients ranged from 0.40 to 0.73 in primary care, and from 0.51 to 0.69 in the community. The test-retest correlation coefficient was 0.93 in primary care and 0.94 in the community. Varimax-rotated principal component analysis of the SRQ-20 items yielded three factors: depressive symptoms, anxiety symptoms and somatic symptoms. The area under the ROC curve was 0.83 (SE =0.04, 95% CI 0.75—0.90) for the community and primary care samples. The optimal cut-off point for SRQ-20 was 6/7 yielding sensitivity of 93% and specificity of 62%. Conclusion: SRQ-20 appears to be a reliable and valid measure of mental disorders in the community in China.
Development and Psychometric Tests of a Chinese Version of the SF-36 Health Survey Scales.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To develop and evaluate scaling and scoring assumptions, and the reliability and the validity of a Chinese version of the SF-36 scales.METHODS:A multi-stage mixed sampling procedure was used to select a representative sample of the general population. The sample size was 1 000 households. All family members of a selected household, aged 18 and older, completed a survey by self-administration. Formal psychometric methods for testing assumptions underlying item scoring and scale construction were used according to the standard procedure of the IQOLA Project.RESULTS:Of the 1 985 collected questionnaires, 1 972 were qualified. Of them, 1 688 (85.6%) were respondents. 1 316 respondents answered all 36 items, while the remaining (372 respondents) answered with one or several missing responses. Among the non-respondents, 65.5% were illiteracy or quasi-illiteracy. The assumption of equal intervals was violated for the VT and MH scales. The recoded item values were used to calculate scale scores. The clustering and ordering of the item means were approximately the same as that of the source version and other two Chinese versions. The items in each scale had similar standard deviations except those in the PF, BP, SF scales. The correlations between an item and its hypothesized scale were identical for all except the SF and VT scales. The scaling success rates of convergent validity were 0% for the SF scale, 75% for the VT scale, and 100% for the other six scales. The scaling success rates of discriminat validity ranged from 87.5% to 100% for all scales except for the SF scale. The Cronbach' alpha coefficients of internal consistency reliability ranged from 0.72 to 0.88, which were satisfactory for group comparison except 0.39 for the SF scale and 0.66 for the VT scale. The two-weeks test-retest reliability coefficient ranged from 0.66 to 0.94. Factor analysis identified two principal components: a "physical" factor and a "mental" factor. Taken together, these two factors could be used to explain 56.3% of the total variance.CONCLUSION:The Chinese version of the SF-36 Health Survey Scale has achieved conceptual equivalence and satisfied the psychometric scaling assumptions well enough to warrant wide use in China. Known-groups validity will give more meaningful evidences of the validity of the Chinese SF-36 scales.
A Preliminary Study on Self-constructionals Scales (scs)of Chinese-Version

Abstract:Objective: To explore psychometric properties of a Chinese version of Self-constructionals Scales (SCS). Methods: The scores of the SCS from randomly selected 468 high-school students were analysed. Results: Correlation coefficients of all items-subscales were between 0.41 and 0.83. The internal consistency of the interdependent subscale and independent subscale were respectively 0.76 and 0.81. And the internal consistency of the SCS was 0.88. Factor analysis showed that the cumulative contribution of the two factors was 63.18%. Conclusion: To some extent the Chinese version of Self-constructional Scales (SCS) has good reliability and validity, and it is worthy of spread.
Chinese Version of the Responses to Positive Affect Questionnaire: Testing the Factor Structure, Reliability, and Validity in A College Student Sample

Abstract:This study tested the psychometrics of the Chinese version of the Responses to Positive Affect Questionnaire among 915 Chinese college students with an average age of 20.3 yr. (SD = 1.6). The original three-factor model with the factors dampening, emotion-focused positive rumination, and self-focused rumination was supported using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. All subscales showed good internal reliability, as well as evidence for convergent and incremental validity with measures of ego-resiliency, life satisfaction, and mental health symptoms. Finally, a series of hierarchical regression analyses indicated that the three subscales, especially dampening, accounted for additional unique variance in psychological adjustment above and beyond resilience. These findings generally suggested that the Chinese Responses to Positive Affect Questionnaire possesses acceptable psychometric properties. Implications for counseling, limitations, and suggestions for future study were presented.

Abstract:We examined the factor structure, reliability, and validity of the Chinese version of the Personal Growth Initiative Scale–II (CPGIS–II) using data from a sample of 927 Chinese university students. Consistent with previous findings, confirmatory factor analyses supported a 4-factor model of the CPGIS–II. Reliability analyses indicated that the 4 CPGIS–II subscales, namely Readiness for Change, Planfulness, Using Resources, and Intentional Behavior, demonstrated good internal consistency reliability and adequate test–retest reliability across a 4-week period. In addition, evidence for convergent and incremental validity was found in relation to measures of positive and negative psychological adjustment. Finally, results of hierarchical regression analyses indicated that the 4 personal growth initiative dimensions, especially planfulness, accounted for additional unique variance in psychological adjustment beyond resilience. Some implications for using the CPGIS–II in Chinese are discussed.

Abstract:Introduction: The original 89-item Zuckerman-Kuhlman Personality Questionnaire (form III Revised, ZKPQ-III-R) is a widely accepted and used self-report measure for personality traits. This study assessed the reliability and construct validity of the Chinese short 46-item version of the ZKPQ-III-R in a sample of adolescents and young adults. Methodology: A total of 1,019 Chinese adolescents and young adults completed the Chinese version of the original 89-item version ZKPQ-III-R and short 46-item version ZKPQ-III-R, self-report measures of depression, life satisfaction, and subjective health complaints (SHC), the Big Five personality traits, and a substance use risk profile. We explored the internal consistency of five dimensions of the short 46-item version ZKPQ-III-R and compared it with observations in previous studies of Chinese and other populations. The structure of the questionnaire was analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis and exploratory structural equation modeling. Results: The short 46-item version ZKPQ-III-R had adequate internal reliability for all five dimensions, with Cronbach's α coefficients of 0.63 to 0.84. The concurrent validity of the short 46-item version ZKPQ-III-R was supported by significant correlations with depression, life satisfaction, and SHC. The short 46-item version ZKPQ-III-R had better fit, similar reliability coefficients, and slightly better construct and convergent validity than the 89-item version. Conclusion: The Chinese version of the 46-item ZKPQ-III-R presented reliability and validity in measuring personality in Chinese adolescents and young adults.

Abstract:Background: It is imperative to use a validated tool to measure and understand health behavior as it greatly impacts health status. It has been demonstrated that the Health Behavior Inventory - Short Form (HBI-SF) is valid in several countries. The purpose of this study was to translate the HBI-SF into Chinese and test its psychometric properties. Methods: This study employed a two-phase methodology. The phase one entailed the cross-cultural adaptation of the HBI-SF, while the subsequent phase evaluated the psychometric properties of the scale. This evaluation encompassed classical test theory (CTT) and item response theory (IRT) tests to assess reliability and validity. It involved 1058 participants, of whom 1036 completed the questionnaire successfully. Out of these, 518 were analyzed for CTT, along with 518 for IRT. Results: The S-CVI was found to be 0.935, while the I-CVI ranged from 0.889 to 1.000. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis suggested the goodness-of-fit indices for the four-factor model was acceptable. Regarding the subscales, the average variance extracted (AVE) and Heterotrait-Monotrait Ratio of Correlations (HTMT) matrix also met the cutoff values (AVE > 0.5 and HTMI < 0.85). Furthermore, the internal consistency and composite reliability indices of all factors were greater than 0.7. Infit and/or outfit values indicated that all items fitted the Rasch model. The Wright map revealed that the average person measures for the participants (mean = - 0.994, SD = 0.430) were comparatively lower than the average item measures (mean = 0.000, SD = 0.257). The person separation reliability values for the four factors ranged from 0.600 to 0.746, indicating an acceptable level of reliability. Two items showed differential item functioning. Conclusions: The findings derived from both CTT and IRT analyses demonstrate favorable levels of reliability and validity for the Chinese version of the HBI-SF.
Psychometric Testing of the Chinese Version of the Coping and Adaptation Processing Scale-Short Form in Adults with Chronic Illness

Abstract:Background Adaptive capacity may serve as an indicator of the individuals' coping behaviors toward illness management and may contribute to day-to-day living with chronic illness and improved quality of life. Practical and well-constructed instruments for measuring adaptation have not been adequately explored. An English 15-item Coping and Adaptation Processing-Short Form (CAPS-SF) for assessing adaptation has been created and validated in line with the underlying tenets of Coping and Adaptation Processing theory, but there is no applicable Chinese version. Methods The CAPS-SF was translated and culturally adapted into simplified Chinese. Among Chinese adults with chronic illness, 81 patients were selected for cultural adaptation and 288 patients were approached for psychometric testing. Content validity was evaluated by an expert panel. Construct validity was tested by confirmatory factor analysis. Concurrent validity and predictive validity were analyzed by Spearman correlation coefficient. Reliability was assessed by internal consistency and test-retest coefficients. Floor/ceiling effect was calculated. Results Adequate content validity was ensured by the expert panel. A four-factor structure (resourceful and focused, self-initiated and knowing-based, physical and fixed, and positive and systematic) describing individuals' coping strategies was identified and verified. Concurrent validity and predictive validity were demonstrated by strong correlations with the confrontation of coping mode (r= 0.46) and a quality-of-life measure (r= 0.58). The McDonald's omega coefficient of total scale was 0.82. Split-half reliability and test-retest reliability were 0.87 and 0.87. No floor/ceiling effect was present. Conclusion The Chinese version CAPS-SF is a theoretically based and culturally acceptable instrument with sound psychometric properties. Further studies are advocated to refine its four-factor structure.
Psychometric evaluation of the Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) in Chinese adolescents – a methodological study

Abstract:BackgroundIn epidemiological surveillance of mental health there is good reason to also include scales that measure the presence of well-being rather than merely symptoms of ill health. The Mental Health Continuum-Short Form (MHC-SF) is a self-reported scale to measure emotional, psychological and social well-being and conduct categorical diagnosis of positive mental health. This particular instrument includes the three core components of the World Health Organization’s definition of mental health and had previously not been psychometrically evaluated on adolescents in China.MethodsIn total 5,399 students (51.1 % female) from schools in the urban areas of Weifang in China were included in the study (mean age = 15.13, SD = 1.56). Participants completed a comprehensive questionnaire with several scales, among them the MHC-SF. Statistical analyses to evaluate reliability, structural validity, measurement invariance, presence of floor and ceiling effects and to some extent external validity of the MHC-SF were carried out.ResultsThe Cronbach’s α coefficients for sub-scales as well as the total scale were all above 0.80 indicating good reliability. Confirmative factor analysis confirmed the three-dimensional structure of the Chinese version of MHC-SF and supported the configural and metric invariance across gender and age. Noteworthy ceiling effects were observed for single items and sub-scales although not for the total scale. More importantly, observed floor effects were negligible. The stronger correlation found between MHC-SF and Minneapolis-Manchester Quality of Life Instrument (as measure of positive mental health) than between MHC-SF and Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (as measure of mental illness and distress) yielded support for external validity.ConclusionIn conclusion, the main findings of this study are in line with studies from other countries that evaluated the psychometric properties of the MHC-SF and show that this instrument, that includes the three core components of the WHO definition of mental health, is useful in assessing positive adolescent mental health also in China.

Abstract:ObjectivePrevious studies on the reliability and validity of the Affective Lability Scale short-form (ALS-SF) have only been evaluated in adults, which may not be able to generalize to the adolescent population. We aimed to examine the factor structure, the reliability and validity of ALS-SF among Chinese adolescents and construct an adolescent form of ALS (ALS-AF).MethodsA total of 1,439 middle school students were investigated with a broad survey including ALS-SF, Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item (GAD-7), Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale 10-item (CD-RISC-10) and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) behavior self-report. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were conducted to investigate the structural validity of ALS-SF and construct ALS-AF. Cronbach's α was used to assess the internal consistency and reliability of the scale. Factor loading, Average Variance Extracted (AVE) and Composite Reliability (CR) were applied to measure the convergent validity and divergent validity. Besides, Correlation and regression analyses were used to explore the relationship between affective lability and depression, anxiety, NSSI and resilience.ResultsFactor analysis failed to support the original three-factor model of 18-item ALS-SF and confirmed the three-factor model of 15-item ALS-AF. The ALS-AF showed good internal consistency as well as strong convergent and discriminative validity. Besides, ALS-AF was positively correlated with PHQ-9, GAD-7 and self-harm, and was negatively associated with resilience.ConclusionOur study shows that the ALS-AF has good reliability and validity for testing affective lability in Chinese adolescents.
Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (WASp) and relatives: A many-sided family

Abstract:The Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS) is a human X-linked primary immunodeficiency characterised by inmunodeficiency, micro-thrombocytopaenia and eczema. The gene that causes WAS (WASP) encodes a 502 residues protein designated as WASp. WASp gives name to a family of recently defined proteins involved in the signal transduction from the membrane to the actin cytoskeleton as well as in cellular development and activation processes. Besides its role as a cytoskeleton organiser, WASp is also a key protein involved in the regulation of signals coming from the TCR/CD3, which drive to T cell transcriptional activation and proliferation. Furthermore, WASp has been involved in thymocyte maturation. Likewise, WASp family members have been shown to be important in the development of multicellular organisms. Recent reports show that WASp family is also involved in different degenerative diseases. This review is focused on WASp family physiology, keeping special interest in WASp structure, intramolecular regulation, and new insights related to gene therapy.
Psychometrics and Life History Strategy: The Structure and Validity of the High K Strategy Scale

Abstract:In this paper, we critically review the conceptualization and implementation of psychological measures of life history strategy associated with Differential K theory. The High K Strategy Scale (HKSS: Giosan, 2006 ) was distributed to a large British sample ( n = 809) with the aim of assessing its factor structure and construct validity in relation to theoretically relevant life history variables: age of puberty, age of first sexual encounter, and number of sexual partners. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses indicated that the HKSS in its current form did not show an adequate statistical fit to the data. Modifications to improve fit indicated four correlated factors (personal capital, environmental stability, environmental security, and social capital). Later puberty in women was positively associated with measures of the environment and personal capital. Among men, contrary to Differential K predictions but in line with female mate preferences, earlier sexual debut and more sexual partners were positively associated with more favorable environments and higher personal and social capital. We raise concerns about the use of psychometric indicators of lifestyle and personality as proxies for life history strategy when they have not been validated against objective measures derived from contemporary life history theory and when their status as causes, mediators, or correlates has not been investigated.

Validity of the Brief Resilience Scale and Brief Resilient Coping Scale in a Chinese Sample

Abstract:This study presents a cross-cultural examination of the psychometric properties of two commonly used brief self-report resilience scales, the 6-item Brief Resilience Scale (BRS) and the 4-item Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRCS). Five hundred and eleven Chinese university undergraduate students were recruited for this cross-sectional research. Various psychometric evaluation tools were used to evaluate the internal consistency, criterion validity, factorial validity and construct validity of these resilience scales. The results showed that both scales had good criterion validity, with well-established measures of well-being, optimism, self-esteem, self-efficacy and mental health, as suggested in the resilience literature. The BRS (a = 0.71) showed better internal consistency than the BRCS (a = 0.59). The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) results also indicated that the BRS, with a two-factor structure, had better construct validity than the BRCS. The CFA results for the BRS met all of the criteria for a good model fit. The BRS was found to have better psychometric properties than the BRCS in the Chinese context. The findings will help researchers to select an appropriate resilience measure when conducting epistemological surveys of Chinese university students or the Chinese diaspora in other contexts.

Abstract:AIM This paper is a report of an examination of the validity and reliability of the Chinese version of the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile. BACKGROUND The Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile, a well-known instrument measuring health promotion lifestyle behaviours and developed by Walker in 1987 and later refined, has been translated into several languages. The original Chinese translated version, based on Walker's 48-item 1987 version, detected six dimensions of health promotion lifestyle behaviours. The 52-item revised Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile-II has not been tested for Mandarin-speakers. METHOD After the English version of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile-II was translated into Chinese using established forward-backward translation procedures, the psychometric properties of the translated version were determined with 331 Taiwanese Mandarin-speaking adults. Data were collected from August 2007 to July 2008 at outpatient clinics for health screening in Southern Taiwan. The psychometric properties of the instrument were evaluated, including the internal consistency, test-retest reliability, item analysis and factor analysis. RESULTS Neither Walker's original 6-factor model nor a forced 6-factor solution of the 52 items of the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile-II was supported. Parallel analysis suggested that five factors be retained, with the 5-factor solution statistically and conceptually satisfactory. The 5-factor Chinese version of the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile explained 53% of the variance in healthy lifestyles. Thirty items were retained for the Chinese version of the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile. DISCUSSION Deletion of 22 items from the Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile-II did not impair the ability of the Chinese version of the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile to measure a healthy lifestyle among a sample of Taiwanese adults. The data support the fact that lifestyle is influenced by culture.

Abstract:Background With the release of the Health China Action (2019–2030), family health is receiving increasing attention from experts and scholars. But at present, there is no family health scale in China that involves multidimensional and interdisciplinary commonality. Aim To translate a Short Form of the Family Health Scale (FHS-SF) and to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the FHS-SF. Method A Short Form of the Family Health Scale was Chinese translated with the consent of the original author. A total of 8912 residents were surveyed in 120 cities across China using a multistage sampling method, with gender, ethnicity, and education level as quota variables. Seven hundred fifty participants were selected to participate in this study, and 44 participants were randomly selected to be retested 1 month later. Results The Cronbach's alpha of the Chinese version of a Short Form the Family Health Scale was 0.83,the Cronbach's alphas of the four subscales ranged from 0.70 to 0.90, the retest reliability of the scale was 0.75, the standardized factor loadings of the validation factor analysis were above 0.50, GFI = 0.98; NFI = 0.97; RFI = 0.95; RMSEA = 0.07, all within acceptable limits. Conclusion The Chinese version of a Short Form the Family Health Scale has good reliability and validity and can be used to assess the level of family health of Chinese residents.

Abstract:Background Childhood harshness and unpredictability significantly shape life history strategies, as well as downstream psychological and behavioral patterns. However, prior research involving Chinese populations has suffered from inconsistent metrics and limited measurement items. Objective We adapted the English version of Maranges et al.'s (2022) Harshness and Unpredictability Scale in Childhood, translating it into Chinese and assessing its reliability and validity. Participants and setting Six groups of different college student samples have been collected and the Chinese version of the Harshness and Unpredictability scales has been revised in two separate studies. Methods We evaluated the factor structure using both exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, determined internal consistency, item discrimination, concurrent validity, and assessed gender measurement invariance through multiple CFAs. The test-retest reliability was subsequently established by assessing participants after a designated interval. Results Both scales passed psychometric tests, including exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, and exhibited strong internal consistency and item discrimination. Gender invariance in the measurements was also confirmed. Conclusions The Chinese version of the Childhood Harshness and Unpredictability Scale demonstrates high reliability and validity, making it suitable for deeper examinations into the relationship between early environments and life history strategies in Chinese contexts.

Abstract:This study was conducted to develop a short form of the Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure (IPSM), translated into Chinese. A total of 1237 Chinese undergraduates, divided into four groups, participated during various phases of scale development. Exploratory factor analysis supported a five-factor structure of the IPSM-C among Chinese undergraduates, which is in accordance with the original model established by Boyce and Parker that contained 36 items. We next developed a 15-item short form of the IPSM (IPSM-CS) whose structural validity was comparable to the full form. All IPSM-CS sub-scales, as well as the total scale, showed good internal consistency, test–retest reliability and criterion-related validity. The present results indicate that the IPSM-CS may be a useful and reliable alternative to the original IPSM for individuals fluent in Chinese.

Abstract:Purpose: The Physical Self-Description Questionnaire -Short (PSDQ-S) is one of the world's recognized effective tools for measuring Physical Self-Concept (PSC). However, Latent profile analysis of the physical self-description among Chinese adolescents only supported the 3-dimensional model of PSDQ-S, that is, it could only distinguish the Physical Activity (PA), Appearance, and Body Fat of Chinese children and adolescents, but could not effectively distinguish the 8 dimensions of Coordination, Flexibility, Strength, Endurance, Sport, Global Physical, Health, and Global Esteem. It cannot meet the needs of PSC measurement in the field of sports psychology in China. The purpose of this study was to revise the PSDQ-S for Chinese middle school students, and to test its reliability, validity, and gender measurement equivalence in Chinese middle school students. Methods: A stratified random cluster sampling method was used to conduct a questionnaire survey on the Chinese version of PSDQ-S. 2505 middle school students in grades 7-12 (12-18 years old) were selected from seven administrative geographic regions of North China, Northeast China, East China, Central China, South China, Southwest and Northwest China, among which 1239 were male subjects, with an average age of (15.07±1.93) years, Female subjects were 1266, with an average age of (15.02±2.04) years. SPSS 24.0 and Mplus 8.3 were used for data analysis. Results: Eight common factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative variance interpretation rate was 79.45%. Confirmatory factor analysis support 8 factor model hypothesis (χ 2 / df = 1.846, CFI = 0.939, TLI = 0.929, SRMR = 0.050, RMSEA = 0.061). The 8 dimensions were Physical Activity, Appearance, Body Fat, Flexibility & Coordination, Endurance, Sport, Global Physical and Health. The average variance extraction of each factor of the Chinese version PSDQ-S convergence validity index was greater than 0.50, and the combination reliability was greater than 0.60. The gender equivalence hypothesis was established. Conclusions: The revised Chinese version of PSDQ-S has good reliability, validity, and gender equivalence. It can be used as a measurement tool of PSC of Chinese middle school students.
