Abstract:<p>Terbium-doped tantalum pentoxide (Tb–Ta2O5) sub-micro particles are prepared with the hydrothermal method at 200 °C. X-ray diffraction reveals that Tb–Ta2O5 sub-micro particles are orthorhombic and the Ta2O5 cell shrinks after Tb doping. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy implies Tb3+ form on the Tb–Ta2O5 surface. The electrocatalytic property of Tb–Ta2O5 coated glassy carbon electrode (Tb–Ta2O5/GCE) is performed using cyclic voltammetry in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (PBS, pH = 7.0) containing ascorbic acid (AA) or uric acid (UA). Tb–Ta2O5/GCE displays high electrochemical catalytic property toward AA and UA oxidation, indicating potential applications toward AA and UA detection.</p>
