Abstract:Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) is a chemical product used in hair dye preparations and temporary tattoos to fasten the dyeing process and intensify its results. PPD can evoke local and/or systemic toxic effects either when utilized topically, inhaled or ingested. The aim of this study was to evaluate the toxic effects of PPD on liver of adult female albino rats. Thirty-two adult female albino rats were divided into 3 groups. Group I (control group) 16 rats: which subdivided into 2 equal subgroups: Subgroup IA (negative control) 8 rats: received only regular diet and water, Subgroup IB (vehicle control) 8 rats: received 1 ml distilled water once daily by oral gavage, 5 days/week for 8 weeks. Group II (PPD treated group) 8 rats: Each rat received 10 mg/kg B.W of PPD in 1 ml distilled water once daily for 8 weeks by oral gavage. Group III (Follow up group) 8 rats: Each rat received 10 mg/kg B.W of PPD in 1 ml distilled water once daily for 8 weeks by oral gavage, followed by two weeks without treatment. After 8 weeks in group I & group II and after 2 weeks of follow up in group III, rats were subjected to blood sample collection for estimating AST, ALT & ALP levels. Then livers were dissected out and divided into three parts. The first part was used for estimating oxidative stress markers MDA & GSH. Second part was subjected for histopathological examination under light microscope. The third part was examined by comet assay to determine DNA damage. The results revealed that PPD induced a significant increase in (AST, ALT & ALP), hepatic MDA and a significant decrease in hepatic GSH. It also induced several histopathological alterations and significant DNA damage in liver cells, and cessation of treatment for 2 weeks ameliorates its damaging effects.

Abstract:Treatment of degenerative spinal disorders by fusion produces abnormal mechanical conditions at mobile segments above or below the site of spinal disorders and is clinically referred to as adjacent segments disc disease (ASDD) or transition syndrome in the case of a previous surgical treatment. The aim of the current study is to understand with the help of poro‐elastic finite element models how single or two level degeneration of lower lumbar levels influences motions at adjacent levels and compare the findings to motions produced by single or two level fusions when the adjacent disk has varying degree of degeneration. Validated grade‐specific finite element models including varying grades of disc degeneration at lower lumbar levels with and without fusion were developed and used to determine motions at all levels of the lumbar spine due to applied moment loads. Results showed that adjacent disc motions do depend on severity of disc degeneration, number of disc degenerated or fused, and level at which degeneration or fusion occurred. Furthermore, single level degeneration and single level fusion produced similar amount of adjacent disc motions. The pattern of increase in adjacent segment motions due to disc degeneration and increase in motions at segment adjacent to fusion was similar. Based on the current study, it can be concluded that disc degeneration should also be considered as a risk factor in addition to fusion for generating adjacent disc degeneration. © 2016 Orthopaedic Research Society. Hepatoprotective potential of coconut inflorescence sap against paracetamol induced toxicity in hep G2 cell lines

Abstract:Coconut Inflorescence Sap (CIS) is the sweet, oyster-white colored, non-fermented juice obtained from the immature inflorescence of the Coconut tree. Acetaminophen (N-acetyl-p-aminophenol, or paracetamol) is one of the most frequently used drugs worldwide as an antipyretic or analgesic. HepG2 cell lines were used as an experimental model for studying in vitro hepatotoxicity induced by Paracetamol. The present study aims to identify biologically active compounds of CIS using LCMS analysis and to elucidate the ameliorative potential of CIS in alleviating paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity. LC-MS analysis revealed the presence of 17 bioactive compounds. HepG2 cells were pretreated with Paracetamol (20 mM) for inducing toxicity, and Silymarin at a concentration of 50 μg/ml was used as a standard drug. The morphological analysis and MTT assay showed effective recovery from toxicity in cells treated with CIS in a dose-dependent manner. CIS at 25 μg/ml potentially showed the highest percentage of inhibitory activity against the toxicity induced by paracetamol. The treatment with paracetamol significantly increased the indicators of liver toxicity - LDH, SGOT, SGPT, and Glut.S Transferase in the media.CIS administration also increased the total protein levels, SOD, and Catalase activity. The morphological analysis, MTT assay, cytocompatibility studies, determination of enzymatic activities, etc., confirms the significant hepatoprotective efficacy of CIS.
Study of P-Phenylenediamine (PPD) Concentrations after Hair Dye Mixing: A Call for Safety Reassessment

Abstract:Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) is a chemical that is widely used in hair dyes. Multiple safety and regulatory agencies have categorized PPD as a potent sensitizer. In addition, PPD has carcinogenicity and genotoxicity attributes and, consequently, it is regulated at a maximal concentration of 2.0%. The aim of this study was to test whether the limit for PPD is surplus, and hence whether the consumer may be exposed to unnecessarily PPD levels. Experimentally, the analysis of PPD was performed using HPLC, where method validation and an inter-laboratory comparison test (ILC) were conducted to evaluate method performance. Thirty-three commercial products were analyzed, and five products were chosen to study the unconsumed PPD. Successfully, the implemented method confirmed its suitability and validity for the determination of PPD. For ILC results, PPD levels were 0.97 ± 0.04% and 0.92 ± 0.02%, quantified by our laboratory and an accredited laboratory, respectively. For all products, the initial concentration (T0) of PPD was lower than the regulatory limit. After 45 min, the content of PPD significantly reduced compared to T0. One product showed unconsumed PPD to be as high as 96% following the recommended dyeing time. In conclusion, the existence of high levels of unreacted PPD increases the likelihood of allergic events and elevates the risk of PPD-related chemicals. Collaborative efforts between industries, regulatory bodies, and health-related decision makers are deemed necessary to establish safe concentrations for PPD.

Abstract:Abstract The study was designed to investigate the effect of Coconut Oil on the levels of some liver and hematological parameters in carbon tetrachloride intoxicated rabbits. Also the antioxidant capacity of Coconut Oil for various concentrations was assessed on the basis of percent scavenging of (DPPH) free radical. Experimental animals were divided into five groups, eight rabbits in each group. These were: group A (Normal control), group B (Toxic control), group C (Standard control), group D (Treated with Coconut Oil 50 mL/kg body weight after CCl4 intoxication), group E (Treated with Coconut Oil 200 mL/kg body weight after CCl4 intoxication). The effects observed were compared with a standard hepatoprotective drug silymarine (50 mL/kg body weight). The Coconut Oil (200 mL/kg body weight) significantly (P<0.05) reduced the elevated serum levels of alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) when compared to a toxic control rabbits. The results of extract treated rabbits were similar to silymarine administered rabbits group. Treatment with Coconut Oil root and silymarine caused no significant changes in RBC, Platelets, (Hb), (MCH) concentration and (HCT) values. However, significant (P<0.05) increase was observed in the total WBC count. The present study suggested that Coconut Oil can be used as an herbal alternative (need further exploration i.e to detect its bioactive compound and its efficacy) for hepatoprotective activity.

Abstract:The guinea pigs were dermally exposed to paraphenylene diamine (PPD) at a dose level of 0.1 ml day-1 of a 1.0% (w/v) solution of PPD for 1, 3, 5 and 7 days. The absorption of PPD and its effects on lipid peroxidation, glutathione, histamine and several enzymes were assessed in skin and serum. Histopathological changes in liver, kidney and skin were examined also. The findings of the study indicated that PPD exposure resulted in significantly increased levels of lipid peroxidation and histamine contents in skin. The activity of enzymes increased significantly in skin and serum. PPD exposure also showed degenerative changes in liver and hyperkeratosis together with infiltration of cells in the dermis. Biochemical defects and histopathological changes in skin and serum correlated with the duration of exposure.

Abstract:Leukotrienes are a class of potent mediators of hypersensitivity and inflammation generated by the 5lipoxygenation of arachidonic acid and the further addition of polar substituents. Evidence for their role in producing and amplifying inflammatory responses in a variety of immunopathologic situations is accumulating, although clinical studies in humans are limited. The development of specific and sensitive radioiminunoassays has allowed detection of elevated concentrations of leukotrienes in several disease states including asthma (l), cystic fibrosis (2), neonatal hypoxemia with pulmonary hypertension (3), and, recently, the adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)(4). The following case report describes an episode of pulmonary edema after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) that was associated with markedly elevated leukotriene levels in the edema fluid.

Abstract:1. Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) is the commonest and most well-known component of hair dyes. PPD is found in more than 1000 hair dye formulations and is the most frequently used permanent hair dye component in Europe, North America and East Asia. PPD containing hair dyes have been associated with cancer and mutagenicity. Apart from that, PPD has potential toxicity which includes acute toxicity such as allergic contact dermatitis and subacute toxicity. 2. In this study, we examined the effects of the PPD composition on the skin-isolated fibroblast cells. Fibroblast cells were isolated from the skin and cell viability, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, the collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), lipid peroxidation (LPO), damage to the lysosome release of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and finally release of cytochrome c were examined following the exposure to various concentrations of PPD. 3. Our results showed that exposure to PPD increased ROS generation, LPO, the collapse of MMP, LDH release and cytochrome c release. Our results suggest that PPD can induce damage to the lysosomal membrane. 4. These results showed that PPD composition has a selective toxicity on skin fibroblasts cell and mitochondria are considered one of the goals of its toxicity.

Abstract:The use of hair dye has been emerging worldwide however usage of Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) in making hair dye is generally restricted to underdeveloped and developing countries. In particular, prevalence of accidental and suicidal ingestion is more in low socioeconomic areas. The spectra of hair dye toxicity is wide, however, it presents more commonly with severe angioedema of face and neck leading to respiratory failure, rhabdomyolysis complicating into acute kidney injury, myocarditis and acute liver injury. Here we present a unique case of PPD poisoning in a young female presented with laryngeal edema and marked rhabdomyolysis. Preemptive shifting to Critical care unit and elective endotracheal intubation for air way patency obviated the need of tracheostomy and precluded its related complications. Moreover, aggressive intravenous hydration prevented from renal failure despite markedly raised Creatine phospho kinase (CPK) levels.

Pyrvinium pamoate ameliorates cyclosporin A- induced hepatotoxicity via the modulation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling and upregulation of PPAR-γ

Abstract:Background: Cyclosporin A (CsA) is an immunosuppressive agent that can be used to treat autoimmune diseases. Despite its hepatotoxicity, CsA is a backbone in organ transplantation. Pyrvinium pamoate (PP) is an inhibitor of Wnt signaling approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its anthelmintic properties. Aim: The goal of this investigation was to determine whether PP could protect against CsA-induced hepatotoxicity. Method: Five groups of 50 albino male mice were selected and divided into five groups; group 1 was the control, groups 2 to 4 were subjected to daily CsA (25 mg/kg, i.p), in which groups 3 and 4 were treated with graded dose of PP (0.25, 0.5 mg/kg), and group 5 was treated with PP (0.5 mg/ kg) for 21 days. The mice were sacrificed under anesthesia, and their livers were removed for histological and biochemical assessment. Results: CsA was found to cause a striking increase in liver enzymes, total bilirubin, and malondialdehyde levels while significantly decreasing the levels of albumin, glutathione, and antioxidant enzymes in the treated groups. The tissue levels of tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, and NFКB were also significantly higher with CsA treatment. Moreover, CsA triggered a notable increase in the levels of apoptotic marker P53. CsA activated the Wnt/β-catenin pathway by increasing WNT3a expression, frizzled receptor-7, β-catenin, and c-myc. On the other hand, the levels of PPAR-γ decreased significantly with CsA. CsA-induced alterations in the previously stated parameters were greatly reduced by PP, indicating its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic properties. Conclusions: PP may be considered as a promising agent to prevent CsA hepatotoxicity.
The therapeutic effect of a novel parenteral formulation of dihydroxyacetone in aluminum phosphide-intoxicated patients

Abstract:Background and objectives: Aluminum phosphide (AlP), known as "rice tablet," is widely used as an effective pesticide. However, AlP poisoning is a common cause of mortality in many countries, such as Iran. Unfortunately, there is no specific antidote for AlP toxicity to date. AlP releases phosphine gas when it is exposed to moisture or acid. Phosphine is a potent mitochondrial toxin that could significantly inhibit cellular energy metabolism. AlP poisoning is an emergency condition that needs instant and effective intervention. Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is a simple saccharide used for several pharmacological as well as cosmetic purposes. Previously, we found that DHA could significantly prevent mitochondrial impairment induced by toxic agents such as cyanide and phosphine in various in vitro and in vivo experimental models. Methods: Hospitalized patients (n = 111) were evaluated for eligibility criteria. Among these patients, n = 35 cases were excluded due to incomplete data (n = 11) and suspicion of poisoning with poisons other than AlP (n = 24). Meanwhile, n = 76 cases with confirmed AlP poisoning were included in the study. AlP-poisoned patients who did not receive DHA (n = 18) were used as the control group.Patients (n = 58) received at least one dose of DHA (500 ml of 5 % DHA solution w/v, i.v.) as an adjuvant therapy in addition to the routine treatment of AlP poisoning. Arterial blood gas (ABG), blood pH, bicarbonate levels, and other vital signs and biochemical measurements were monitored. Moreover, the mortality rate and hospitalization time were evaluated in DHA-treated and AlP-poisoned patients without DHA administration. Several biomarkers were assessed before (upon hospitalization) and after DHA treatment. The routine tests for AlP-poisoned patients in this study were the measurement of electrolytes (K+ and Na+), WBC, RBC, hemoglobin, INR, carbonate (HCO3), blood pH, PaCO2, and PaO2 and SGPT, SGOT, BUN, Cr. Results: Upon patients' admission, significant decreases in blood pH (acidosis), blood PaO2, and HCO3 levels were the hallmarks of AlP poisoning. It was found that DHA significantly alleviated biomarkers of AlP poisoning and tremendously enhanced patients' survival rate (65.52 % in DHA-treated vs 33.34 % in the control group) compared to patients treated based on hospital routine AlP poisoning protocols (no DHA). No significant adverse effects were evident in DHA-treated patients in the current study. Interpretation and conclusions: These data suggest that parenteral DHA is a novel and effective antidote against AlP poisoning to be used as an adjuvant in addition to routine supportive treatment. Ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry-characterized extract of Aerides odorata Lour alleviates paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity in animal model evidenced by biochemical, molecular, and computational studies

Abstract:Background: Many kinds of orchids have significant health benefits although adequate research on their biological functions is yet to be carried out. This study investigated the paracetamol-induced liver damage-protecting effect of epiphytic Aerides odorata methanol extract (AODE). Methods: The protective effects of AODE were studied by analyzing its effect on liver function parameters, messenger RNA (mRNA) expression, and tissue histopathological architecture. The results were confirmed by ligand-receptor interaction of molecular docking and multitarget interaction of network pharmacological analyses. Results: AODE significantly (p < 0.05) minimized the dose-dependent increase in acid phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, γ-glutamyl transferase, lactate dehydrogenase, and total bilirubin compared to the reference drug silymarin. Malondialdehyde level decreased, and the antioxidant genes catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), β-actin, paraoxonase-1 (PON1), and phosphofructokinase-1 (PFK-1) were upregulated in AODE-treated paracetamol-intoxicated rats. A total of 376 compounds comprising phenols and flavonoids were identified using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (UPLC-qTOF-MS). The online toxicity assessment using SwissADME and admetSAR exhibited drug-like, nontoxic, and potential pharmacological properties. Additionally, in silico analysis showed that isoacteoside, one of the identified compounds, exhibited the best docking score (-11.42) with the liver protein human pituitary adenylate cyclase-1 (Protein Data Bank ID: 3N94). Furthermore, network pharmacology analysis identified the top 10 hub genes, namely AKT1 (protein kinase B), CTNNB1 (catenin beta-1), SRC (proto-oncogene c-Src), TNF (tumor necrosis factor), EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor), HSP90AA1 (heat shock protein 90α), MAPK3 (mitogen-activated protein kinase 3), STAT3 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 3), CASP3 (caspase protein), and ESR1 (estrogen receptor 1), which are responsible for hepatoprotective activity. Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that AODE could be a novel hepatoprotective target in drug-induced liver damage with a further single compound-based animal study.
Protective Effect of Polydeoxyribonucleotide Against CCl4-Induced Acute Liver Injury in Mice

Abstract:Purpose: Polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) is a substance known to suppress inflammation and accelerate wound healing. In this experiment, the effect of PDRN treatment on carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 )-evoked acute liver injury (ALI) was investigated using mice.Methods: We analyzed the levels of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and conducted hematoxylin and eosin staining in accompany with terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling staining. Western blot analysis was also conducted to assess the expressions of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, adenosine A 2A receptor, Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax), and B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2). The mice were received intraperitoneal injection of 10-mL/kg CCl 4 , 4 times, once every 2 days. The mice in the PDRN treatment groups received intraperitoneal injection of 200-μL distilled water comprising each concentration of PDRN for 7 days starting 1 day after first CCl 4 injection.Results: ALT and AST concentrations in the serum were reduced and TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6 expressions were decreased by PDRN injection in CCl 4 -evoked ALI mice. PDRN injection suppressed Bax versus Bcl-2 ratio and reduced the percentage of TUNE-positive cells in CCl 4 -evoked ALI mice. PDRN injection overexpressed adenosine A 2A receptor in CCl 4 -evoked ALI mice.Conclusions: The therapeutic efficacy of PDRN also can be expected for CCl 4 -evoked acute urogenital injury in addition to ALI. The current research suggests that PDRN may be used for the therapeutic agent of CCl 4 -evoked ALI.

Toxicity of para-phenylenediamine (PPD;1, 4 diaminobenzene) on isolated human lymphocytes: The key role of intracellular calcium enhancement in PPD-induced apoptosis

Abstract:Para-phenylenediamine (PPD) is a derivative of benzene used as an ingredient in dyes, a photographic developing agent, and a component of engineered polymers. The carcinogenicity of PPD, which has been documented in several studies, may be related to its toxic effects on different compartments of the immune system. The main goal of this research was to evaluate the mechanism of the toxicity of PPD on human lymphocytes by exploiting the accelerated cytotoxicity mechanism screening (ACMS) technique. Lymphocytes were isolated from the blood of healthy persons using a Ficoll-Paque PLUS standard method. Assessment of cell viability was carried out 12 h following treatment of human lymphocytes with 0.25-1 mM PPD. For determination of cellular parameters, isolated human lymphocytes were incubated with 1/2 the IC50 (0.4 mM), the IC50 (0.8 mM), and twice the IC50 (1.6 mM) for 2, 4, and 6 h. Half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) is the concentration that reduces cell viability approximately 50% following treatment. The results of this study demonstrated that PPD-associated apoptosis in human lymphocytes was mainly through the enhancement of intracellular calcium, oxidative stress, and following adverse effect on lymphocyte organelles (like mitochondria and lysosomes). Lipid peroxidation, activation of caspase-3, and stimulation of cytokines (IL2, interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and TNF-alpha) production were also observed in PPD-treated lymphocytes. Considering the results of this study, we can suggest an association between PPD carcinogenicity and its toxic effects on different compartments of the immune system.
Prophylactic and curative effects of Carica papaya Linn. pulp extract against carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatotoxicity in male rats

Abstract:Abstract Several chemicals and medications induce cellular damage in various organs of the body by activating reactive substances’ metabolism leading to various pathological conditions including liver disease. In this study, we evaluated the prophylactic and curative effects of Carica papaya Linn . pulp water extract (PE) against CCl 4 -induced rat hepatotoxicity. Five groups of rats were created, control, PE, CCl 4 , (PE-CCl 4 ): The rats were administered with PE pre and during CCl 4 injection, and (PE-CCl 4 -PE): The rats were administered with PE pre, during, and after CCl 4 . The markers of oxidative stress (“OS”: oxidant and antioxidants), inflammation [nuclear factor-κB, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-6], fibrosis [transforming growth factor-β], and apoptosis [tumor suppressor gene (p53)] were evaluated. Additionally, liver functions, liver histology, and kidney functions were measured. Also, PE characterization was studied. The results showed that PE, in vitro, has a high antioxidant capacity because of the existence of phenolics, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, and minerals. Otherwise, the PE administration [groups (PE-CCl 4 ) and (PE-CCl 4 -PE)] exhibited its prophylactic and therapeutic role versus the hepatotoxicity induced by CCl 4 where PE treatment improved liver functions, liver histopathology, and renal functions by decreasing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and apoptosis induced by CCl 4 . Our study elucidated that PE contains high amounts of phenolics, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids, and ascorbic acid. So, PE exerted significant prophylactic and curative effects against hepatotoxicity induced by CCl 4 . These were done by enhancing the markers of antioxidants and drug-metabolizing enzymes with reductions in lipid peroxidation, inflammation, fibrosis, and apoptosis. PE administration for healthful rats for 12 weeks had no negative impacts. Consequently, PE is a promising agent for the prohibition and therapy of the toxicity caused by xenobiotics.

Abstract:AIM: We report here, a case series of patients with acute kidney injury (AKI) after ingestion of paraphenylene diamine (PPD) a derivative of analine. It is used as a colouring agent to dye hair, fur and plastic and in photographic films.METHODS: Subjects for the study reported here comprised a cohort of 100 patients coming to this institution with AKI following PPD poisoning. AKI was defined according to RIFLE criteria and PPD poisoning on the basis of history and presenting features. All patients had normal sized kidneys on ultrasonography and no previous co- morbidity.RESULTS: One hundred patients with AKI after PPD exposure were brought to this institute between May 2010 and February 2015. Among these, 56 were females, with mean age of 23.11 ± 7.94 years. Cause of AKI was toxic rhabdomyolysis as indicated by marked rise in muscle enzymes with mean lactate dehydrogenase and creatinine phosphokinase levels of 6665.22 ± 6272.04 and 194 486.66 ± 301 905.80, respectively. Hepatotoxicity with raised aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase was a main feature of the studied population. Renal replacement was required in 97% of patients. Complete renal recovery was observed in 77 patients, while 16 died during the acute phase of illness. Respiratory failure and recurrent hyperkalaemia were the main causes of mortality.CONCLUSION: Easy availability and low cost of PPD has lead to a remarkable increase in the use of this substance, especially for suicidal purposes. Awareness of its effects among health professionals, as well as at a societal and government level, is needed at this time.

Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the protective effect of 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione(DPPD)on acute liver injury and neurotoxicity induced by cocaine in mice.Methods:Male C57BL/6N mice were pretreated with DPPD(200,400,800 mg·kg-1/d,ig)for 4 days prior to cocaine(70 mg·kg-1,sc)exposure,which was implemented 30 minutes later after DPPD administration on day 4 to make acute liver injury model.24 hours later,serum ALT,AST and LDH activities and malondialdehyde(MDA)in liver homogenate were assayed and liver tissues were collected for histopathological assessment.Male ICR mice were pretreated with DPPD(200,400,800 mg·kg-1/d,ig,3 days)prior to cocaine(20 mg·kg-1,sc)exposure,which was implemented 30 minutes later after DPPD administration on day 3.And the locomotor activity in 0-180 minutes of mice was recorded individually for each animal immediately after cocaine injection.Results:In acute liver injury model(cocaine 70 mg·kg-1),the DPPD-pretreated mice exhibited lower lethality rates and significant reductions in the ALT,AST and LDH activities and the content of MDA in a dose dependent manner compared to the cocaine alone mice.Histopathological examination further confirmed the reversal of liver damage induced by cocaine.The DPPD-pretreated mice showed significant reductions in activity counts evoked by cocaine(20 mg·kg-1).Conclusion:DPPD plays an active role in the prevention of acute mice liver injury and neurotoxicity induced by cocaine.
