Abstract:The garden of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society is the model of Chinese literati garden,is known as the best in the world. Abstract:The site of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society is a typical upland garden in the West Lake Scenic Area. It was praised as "the crown garden on the West Lake" by Mr. Chen Congzhou for its unique surroundings, appropriate layout, wonderful spatial organization and deep artistic conception. This paper attempts to conduct a systematic study on the spatial organization of the site of Xiling Seal Engraver's Society, by combing its spatial composition relationship, analyzing its spatial layout, exploring its spatial sequence, and explaining the spatial structure for landscape spots as well. The analysis showed the marvellous skills for spatial organization of classical upland gardens, which provides a reference for space design of modern upland or mountain gardens.

Abstract:Seal cutting is a traditional art and it is the predecessor of one of the four inventions-printing which closely combined with the calligraphy, so far it has 3000 years of history. Also it is the prototype of Chinese logo design so its cultural status can not be ignored. Its origin, development, prosperity is inseparable from its time, and it is closely related to the political, economic and cultural environment of that time. With the continuous improvement of aesthetic requirements, changes of seal cutting symbols are also related with other art-related content, such as epigraphy, philology, literature, painting and so on. The printed text mostly is seal script so it is called seal cutting. Because seal symbol has obvious characteristics, mostly use pictographic elements, its form mostly is elliptic, its font has great symmetry, smooth and neat, so seal cutting use seal script until now. Due to the impact of calligraphy elements, the appreciation of seal cutting is mainly from "shape", "meaning" and "lingering charm" three aspects. We need to watch their shape, understand its meaning, pass on its lingering charm. Seal cutting emerged in Qin Dynasty and began to develop since then; Wei and Jin Dynasties is the degradation of decay; Sui ,Tang and Song Dynasties is the fission and incubation period; Yuan and the mid-Ming Dynasty is the turning and awaken period; the late Ming to the Qing Dynasty is the prosperous, peak period. In different periods, the aesthetic elements constant evolution, however, the functionality is not change so much, it always be the symbol of personal identity. But with the deduction of aesthetic symbol, seal cutting art as a traditional symbolic elements, through purposeful refining, applied to various fields, such as the name seal with simplify font, or description seal used to proof things, or title seal based on different content in paintings ; also extracted its traditional symbol style and applied to the design of modern logo field and so on. Abstract:Artificial intelligence is providing new possibilities for pre-serving and reviving traditional arts and crafts. Here we present a method to automate the creation of seal carving artworks with deep learning generated glyphs, an interactive user interface for seal design, and fast mechanical engraving to turn the design into a physical entity. People with no prior experience of seal carving created personalized Han-dynasty-style seals using the interface we developed. Our method allows novices to be engaged in the creative design of Chinese seals and greatly improve the efficiency of the seal carving process, which used to be time-consuming and require high expertise.

Abstract:In contemporary times, female art is gradually seen as an independent branch of art. Seal carving is a world intangible cultural heritage and an important part of Chinese art. Female seal-carving artists, against such a backdrop, are exhibiting their own charm with a tint of Chinese characteristics. This paper intends to give an outline of female seal carving in China and its development process. It then explores its artistic features with examples of contemporary female seal-carving artists, such as Luo Pengpeng and Yin Fenghua. In the end the problems confronting the female group will be discussed and their way out.

Abstract:This article introduces the aesthetic significance of Chinese calligraphy, one of the highest art forms in China. It focuses on three major aesthetic concerns manifested in classical texts on this art. First, Chinese art theory stresses that the forms (xing) of successful calligraphic works are never static; rather, they should be filled with internal force (shi). Second, calligraphic creation can be understood as a psychosomatic process, that is, involving coordination between the mind and the hand. Third, appreciation of Chinese calligraphy is identified with the process of reconstructing the calligrapher's creation of the work, which is analogous to Richard Wollheim's identifying criticism as retrieval. The last section examines the concept of qi and discusses what kind of aesthetic considerations encourage us to make a connection between Chinese calligraphy and abstract art.

Abstract:The exploration of the formal language of Chinese painting has always been based on the "descriptive system"of classical theories of Chinese painting.In the descriptive system of form and technique,discussions are mainly on introductions of techniques.No effort has been made in the "descriptive system"of Chinese painting from a scientific and macro perspective.Based on the traditional framework of the formal language and technique system of Chinese painting,this paper aims to make a systematic study of the formal requirements and traditional elements in Chinese painting.This paper argues from an analytical point that there should be two states in Chinese painting,one for pure creation and the other for teaching.Reform of contemporary Chinese painting should start with the analytic point of"teaching".

Abstract:The doors and windows are not only an important part of architecture, but also as "frame" and "canvas" to show the beautiful landscape. Through a combination of the painting, it formed enframed scenery, expanded the building's art space, and enhanced the aesthetic value. We analyze and summarize distinctive technique and special aesthetics flavors of the painting, it’s influence on enframed scenery design for windows and doors modeling, subject, content, scene configuration and the spatial processing. By studying the relationship between the two, we hope to find the painting culture enlightenment to modern enframed scenery design.
